honestly the best thing about this show is the fact that they cast ACTUAL teenagers!! the actor who plays wilhelm was only 17 when this was filmed, and he's so insanely incredible
when i was watching episode 2 i literally said this whole show feels like im watching real people and real teenagers :O this show honestly is so amazing in terms of the cast and how real they portrayed their characters!!
The funniest thing is that Omar (who plays simon) is actually 4 years older than edvin (Wilhelm) irl, (he was like 21) which makes his acting even more insane (he’s so much more confident in real life)

Yesss! I need more reactions to this show! It's so good! I was like you and expected it to maybe be a fun but dumb time kinda like Riverdale, but holy shit! I'm not kidding when I say that even over a week after finishing it, it's still on my mind 24/7!!! So excited to see what you think of the rest!
And the guy who plays Simon (Omar Rudberg) is an amazing singer and has some really cool songs out there including when he was in a boyband! Just be careful of spoilers in any comments and stuff if you haven't finished the show yet!

this show is quite literally everything to me 😭 need a season 2
Fun fact about the song they sing in the church: it’s called It Takes a Fool to Remain Sane and was originally written and performed by the swedish glam rock band The Ark (one of my favourite bands).
The singer of the band, Ola Salo, have always been very open about being bisexual and some other songs of theirs have the word gay, in the homosexual context. Like Father of a Son, an awesome ”f you, f bullying” song that have the lyric ”and I may be gay / but I’ll still become a better father than all of you anyway”.
Now, this wouldn’t be such a big deal, like we all know Born This Way is the queer anthem. But The Ark had their breakthrough in 2000. Civil unionship had been legal for 5 years but actual gay marriage rights would have to wait for another 9.
I just found it so wonderful that they used a (for me) queer song, by a queer and queer-friendly band for a queer show.
Really hope you like the rest of the season!

Also, I think the Elite comparisons are a bit off tbh. The only thing the two shows have in common is the fact that they're set at a private school for the rich that a few low-income students attend as well.

I think the show is cool, however I have a couple of issues.
*MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING*
1. Personally I feel like they shy away from giving real consequence for character action. The perfect trope I have been waiting for, for years - ( *The Bad boy Prince fall for the Gay guy* )
however despite the fact that we know monarchies are usually stuck up and traditional. I feel like the stakes are low with little or no consequence for actions.
The queen -traditional, lost older son, only has willem doesn't care he likes a guy or want to break them apart?
Felice, who likes willem seem unbothered by learning of the prince's relationship after wanting him for the wealth? etc etc
its nice to have a show where everyone is loving and accepting, but it's unrealistic what is more interesting is flawed character evolving and getting better. ie Zuko
2. The characters fall in love too quickly, this isn't an issue because this can be more interesting with other issues, but it's hard for us to relate with their love if we don't how they progressively fall in love or why they love each other to make us really care. Thai BL series for example (SOTUS, LOVE Sick, Great Man academy) do this excellently, they take time building the relations between characters sometimes even enemies who became lover and at the end you can't help but cry because its so beautiful.
3 Their are no interesting side characters, everyone just seems selfish to me including Simon, who always seem to be asking Wilem 'what about me?' what about me? in every situation, while willem finds the path of less resistance
Simon (Only thinking from his point of view), Sara(betray is own brother for clout/wealth) , Felice (Wants to marry for wealth) and August (Do i need to explain?) 4 character with the same flaw.
I think this is entertaining show, however these are the thing that stop a show from being great. August has the most potential for growth because you already don't like him.
These are my personal opinion however, It's OK not to agree with me, I like the show I just think it could have been great especially since I as a gay guy always wanted a Price falling for the commoner.
Hello, I thought I could share what I thought about the things you mentioned. Please keep in mind that English is my second language, I am Swedish.
1. You should keep in mind that this is a Swedish show, that affects a lot of things, for example how the characters act and react. We have a different culture, history... and so on.
If Wilhelm was a real person, him coming out would probably cause a lot of talk but I think most people in Sweden would be accepting. I think the people of Sweden would be more upset about a "sex-tape" then about him being gay. Him being gay would be the bigger news story, but the sex-tape would be the bigger scandal.
I don’t think that our royal family is stuck up or extremely traditional. For example, one of them married an ex-realty TV star and another married her personal trainer. And our crown princess has won an award for her support of the lgbtq-community. In Sweden it is very looked down upon to think that you are better than anybody else.
I think the show is trying to not stray too far from the truth and I don’t think they want to present another sad lgbtq-story. The story does not present Wilhelm’s sexuality as the problem, they present class divide as the problem (i think).
I don’t think Felice ever liked Wilhelm, she was attracted to him yes but she only wanted to be with him for the title it would give her and to appease her mother. Therefor she wasn’t sad when he wasn’t interested. I actually think she was relieved.
I don’t think everyone in this show is loving and accepting, maybe we haven’t seen anyone having a problem with Wilhelm’s sexuality yet but, for example, August still outed him... that’s not being loving and Wilhelm’s mother was not very supportive. I think it’s quite realistic for a “teen show” that takes place in Sweden.
I think Wilhelm, Simon and Felice evolved but it was quite subtle.
Wilhelm became more accepting of wanting to be with Simon and more comfortable being open about it, for example telling his mother that and hugging Simon in public.
Simon learned to stand up for himself (Edit: I meant that he got better at protecting his own needs), to his father and to Wilhelm.
Felice started to go against her mother’s wishes for example at the Lucia celebration.
Keep in mind that there’s only 6 episodes, I think this show wants to take its time and that the characters will evolve more as the show goes on.
2.Okey, this comes down to taste. I liked it. They are 16 years old... it was love at first sight. I think many can relate.
3. Personal taste again. I do think the side characters are interesting.
I think the characters are selfish sometimes, but I don’t think I would view every action that you find selfish as selfish myself.
Simon just wants to have a normal relationship with Wilhelm, but I agree that he almost only sees thinks from his point of view.
From what I can remember Sara was only selfish in the scene where she got with August.
As I wrote earlier, I don’t think fame and fortune is what Felice really wants, I just think she wants to be loved for who she really is.
August has many sides to his character. I think he feels unimportant, disregarded and lost in the world so he clings to the things he has. Things that prove his value.
Hope my thoughts were interesting to you :P
About number three, my point of view is a bit different: the 5 main characters are actually interesting and have different personal journeys :
1) Felice has to learn to be her own woman instead of the one people expect her to be
2) Simon has to learn to put himself first while still staying the kind and loving character that he is (in the first episodes, all his decisions and mistakes are made in order to take care of her sister, mother and Wilhelm)
3) Sara’s goal is to finally create deep authentic bonds with ppl, which is difficult because she’s neuro divergeant
4) August’s goal is to stay in the elite and protect the monarchy
5) Wille has to deal with the fact that he feels completely trapped in his role of prince and wants to learn to be his own person
I agree that all the characters’ journeys are kind of self-centred, but they are all nuanced in different ways!
BIG SPOILERS:
What’s even more interesting to me is how three of the five “betrayed” their own goals and values at the end of the show (Sara betrayed the most important and genuine ppl in her life, August betrayed the monarchy and his high status is endangered, Wille wasn’t strong enough yet to be himself in front of the whole nation).

The main things that I would love in a potential season 2 would be 1) More about Sara’s and Simon’s relationship with their father 2) A storyline or at least a couple of scenes with Rosh, Ayub and Sara (I feel like they could help guide Sara towards a better path, especially Rosh) 3) Getting to know Felice’s three friends more 4) Wille taking a long time to deal with his role as crown prince and grieve Erik (If Wille goes back to using drugs and alcohol to deal with the sadness, it could lead to very interesting scenes/dynamics with Simon, who would probably want to help but would find it really difficult bc of his father. This could lead the show to talk about different sorts of boundaries : How can Simon learn to help others (in this case Wille) while respecting his limits and keeping relationships healthy? And how can Wille ask Simon for help without endangering Simon’s mental health? Those questions could resonate with a lot of viewers.
Anyways that’s my long answer :)
@@sophie-claudecadieux5854 1) Agree. I would like it if we could see something that showed that the father is trying to get well after he realices his problem. Him getting better could eventually lead to a conversation between him and Linda, a conversation about the kids and how sorry he is for how he treated them all. Linda could then talk to the kids about their father and what they went through. Lastly he could try to earn their trust back.
2 and 3) Yeah more inclusion of the friends would be good, especially Felice's.
4)Yeah, those conversations would be really good to have, both for their relationship and for the audience i think.
