I can't believe it's over... I miss them so much already, we definitely need Netflix to renew it!
This show brought me so much! Amazing interactions with you guys and wonderful and talented people to stan... I feel so lucky! 🥺
And like, of course I'm heart broken about #Wilmon, but I think it was the best decision for both of them as individuals and I'm sure Wilhelm will come around in the future.
So much effort and love was put into this shot, it truly felt special. I miss it already!

its the way wille is so touch-starved but the queen has never given him a hug in the show, not even once
She barely stroked his hair in his room and that makes me so sad bc yeah... The hugging scenes between him and Simon made me so goddamn emotional every time bc you could FEEL how much it meant for Wilhelm to allow himself to be touched and to touched and how he always needed that 😭 I'm gonna start crying again this is my baby 🥺

the scene which was a revelation for me about him needing physical touch was when he returned to the school and was given a bigger room - the headmistress touched his faced and he immediately grabbed her and didnt want to let go.

Fun fact, Edvin the actor who plays Wilhelm had said that Wille is unlabelled. Aside from that, it was a good journey watching you react to these series💕 It was like seeing me again when I first watched it hahahaha. Netflix pls give us that S2 soon 🙏

that scene after Wilhelm confronted august broke me the most bc he cants catch a break like at that moment he realized he was all alone he was just betrayed by the people he was supposed to trust, Simon left him, and on top of that his brother is dead, I understand simons perspective and I'm happy he chose himself but I can't help but feel bad for Wilhelm I can't imagine the insane amount of pressure he must have on his shoulders at such a young age.

I felt a complete void when I finished it for the first time, like nothing else was making sense no more... This show was jus WOW, and it didn't follow the usual gay cliches. If no renewed, there'll be a World War 3
I’m a straight girl but I loved Skam and this. But I would say this one is better because it feels like they really fight for each other in this series but idk

Who else wants more Ayub and Rosh in Season 2? Kinda love their friendship with Simon. Maybe they can build a strong friendship with Wille so he doesn't have just Simon.

yes I really liked the ending. Simon and Wilhelm's love story is unmatched and I'm hoping season 2 gives them room to tell their story again and give them a happy ending.

Another absolutely perfect reaction, thank you. :D Everything you say is basically exactly what I thought while watching it. Also Simon's little "hope you have a nice Christmas" breaks my heart and is also the only right response in that situation. He wants to say I love you back, Wilhelm wants that, everyone watching wants that, but he just can't say it if Wilhelm can't come out. And Wilhelm understands that and isn't bitter at him at all. It's just all... exactly what needs to be happening and also earth-shatteringly sad.
Exactly! And by not saying it back, Simon acknowledges the fact that it doesn't change anything. Like things are what they are. But I'm happy Wilhelm got to tell him. That way, Simon knows that it's not that Wilhelm doesn't want to choose him, but just that he can't. Not yet anyway. The last shot gave me hope of seeing Wilhelm slowly challenging what people expect from him if we get a s2. Thank you for your comment 🥺

Omar did such an amazing job with his eyes in that final scene! I could just feel the I love you beneath the surface!!
I agree that, as heartbreaking as it was, both boys said and did exactly what they needed to say and do at that moment. However, Wilhelm's words, his resolve as he walks to the car over the song Revolution, and his final look at the camera make me believe that he has already made his choice (Simon). He just needs some time to figure out how to exercise agency given his impossible circumstances.

Simon has a wonderful support system so actually it was easier for him in some ways. Wilhelm has nobody but Simon and maybe Felice.
Simon made the right decision. This is actually a very real dilemma in the LGBTQIA community: one is out and the other isn't, and being together might push one BACK in the closet. Simon earned his right to be happy and out, so he shouldn't be asked to hide or be a secret for Wilhelm.
I think Simon does let people piss on him. He has shifted what he wanted to do a few times for other people.

i really liked how you phrased your thoughts on "queer pain" in the media. I think with YR, even though the ending clearly showed that Wille and Simon couldn't happily be together (for the time being), it's still beyond the typical queer pain that a lot of other shows/films use. For one, simon has seen and heard wille's clear desire for them to be together and there aren't one-sided misconceptions of, "x didn't do this for the sake of us, they must not love me as much as they said". he has such a clear understanding and communication with wille that, no, he's not blaming him; it's sad, but he understands that wille's world of obligation and "duty" is so much bigger than the two of them, and they're going to need time apart if he's going to figure out how to change it or escape it. The understanding they have for each other, and all the love despite the hurt really makes us really hopeful that they WILL get their happy ending !!

When the two are "really" together, comes the last episode, as I cried when I watched.

okay i’ve watched several young royals reactions and this is by far my favourite. your takes on queer pain, wilhelm’s development of touch, etc. felt like they were taken straight out of my mind! fingers crossed for a season two

You better let those tears fall!! A lot of people have been showing hate for the Queen but I like her! When she shook Simon's hand I was like oh, she understands he going through enough. I honestly couldn't think of a different way to handle the situation, from the perspective of being a Royal Parent and especially with Wilhelm being so young! Shot out to Ayub and Rosh!! I will protect Simme and Willie with my life!!
I definitely understand her motivations but given her history, I think she could have been a little more empathetic/supportive... But with the death of Eric it might be hard for her to do so... I hope she'll come around in s2 if we're blessed with one!
You’re right but she should’ve been more careful with Wilhelms feelings. Like in the end when she just straight up said “I know it was August” is showing that she has no empathy for this poor boy. Or at least the way she “protects” him is really damn bad haha
I disagree completely. The queen came to pick up her son to destroy him. It is a gangsta move to drive a wedge between him and Simon. Look at how scared W is when she shakes hands with Simon. Look at the look the queen gives him when he disagrees with her.even a little. Simon and the queen both know W suffers from anxiety and Simon tries to help him while his mother uses it to manipulate and torture him.

I used the word torture deliberately and I stand by it after Erik dies the first thing she says to the grieving son is now your children will inherit the thrown ( what? 60 years hence?) that is a gangsta move and it is torture. The first woman who showed any kindness was the headmistress who the queen swatted away like a mosquito.
The brother Erik knew W was gay. He deliberately avoided pronouns . The queen does not seem surprised at all that Simon is a boy and being a clever woman knew that Simon would be the last person her son spoke to and this woman who I have t seen touch W ever drove all the way up to school to smash any outside influence. She wants her way and she got it.
I didn’t see her AFTER the interview where W repudiated his love/ the truth and his identity.
This is torture.
I totally understand the Queen in that conversation she had with Wilhelm in the car, when she asked "is it worth it?". Because imagine if Wilhelm comes out and it causes a whole thing and homophobes start not wanting him as King and etc, and then they break up in 3 months. He would have gone through that for nothing.
And for the perspective of the Queen, this is just her son having a teen crush. When she went though the same thing, it wasn't a big deal, so she thinks it's the same in this case.
I do as well but I wish she could have been a little more understanding and supportive too... like just between them. And the whole not punishing August doesn't sit right with me. But I do understand her pov. I just feel so sad for Wilhelm 🥺
I also think the Queen has been a little hard done by in the reactions to her. I think people forget she is grieving for her older son - no parent should have to bury their child. And because of their positions as monarch and heir apparent, they would have had a close relationship that simply couldn't have existed between the Queen and Wilhelm or Erik and the Prince Consort. I think that's why she keeps bringing up Erik, even 'though it isn't helpful or kind to Wilhelm, because she's still in depths of grief.
In fact I think in general many of viewers seem to forget that Wilhelm and his family are in the midst of grief. The whole action takes place between mid-September at the earliest (Simon has been at the school a month and they start school mid-to-late August in Sweden) and mid-to-late December (St Lucia's Day is 13th December and the action ends about a week later). In that time Wilhelm has been involved in two scandals, started a new school, fallen in love, been involuntarily outed, and lost his adored big brother to become the new crown prince. That's a lot to happen in 12 to 14 weeks.
Yeah but then again, even if they wouldn’t end up together, i don’t think he also likes girls so he wouldn’t have gone through that for nothing as there are more guys.

The whole deal with Sara was quite the let-down. However, I do believe that she can still be redeemed, and hopefully will be if they do a second season. I get some of her motivations, but keeping from Simon and Wilhelm that August was the one to leaked the video, in return for him helping her stay at school, is kinda shitty. I hope she changed her mind after her conversation with Simon

Same! I don't think she's a bad person but she definitely made bad choices in the finale. I would love to see what her arc might look like in s2 if we're lucky to have one! August too tbh... If he's willing to work on himself and everything, I belive it could be interesting to follow his growth/journey!
She has Aspergers. This is the first time in her life that she has friends, other than her brother. So it would be really hard for her to go back to her old school where she was constantly bullied. At the base of it all, her mother wants to pull both kids out of Hillerska instead of just Simon.
Her decision was way more than "kinda shitty". I'm autistic and I know exactly what I would have done which is run to Wilhelm as soon as I seen that conputer been seized.

I honestly don't know how anyone could watch without the original audio!! It makes my head hurt hearing words that don't flow with the actor's mouths!!
@@k1988smith I agree. But some people can't watch things with subtitles, though. Due to attention issues or reading speed. So I get why some people... Just can't handle subtitles. But yeah... The mouth movements not matching the audio takes me out of the immersion a bit.
I tried watching a couple of scenes in english bc I was curious and they did an amazing job dubbing it but... I 100% prefer the original one. I always watch things in the original language to get the full experience of someone's acting 🥰

Personally, I think their hugs are even more intimate and beautiful than their kisses. They really put their whole selves into hugging each other.

Thank you for your reactions and your analyses. After having binge watched Young Royals more times than I dare admit, I think I have watched almost every reaction on TH-cam. Yours have truly struck a chord in me. And I wholeheartedly agree with your comment about Simon’s line (about not being anybody’s secret) being so important for queer people. For that alone they deserve a second season. Best show I have seen, well since Skam season 3.

Loved your reaction to the finale. And yes it's so sad that its over now. But we deserve a season 2. I haven't seen a show this well written and acted since Skam s3 and honestly it might be better.
For me even though it wasnt a "happy" ending, it somehow felt right. I like that we could see both sides of the story for them and that in the end it was no ones fault (well except August). I feel like the ending was hopeful and Netflix had better renew this show for season 2. I honestly don't know where the writers would take Simon and Wilhelm's story next but I have faith that they can make it amazing because this entire season was brilliant from start to finish.
My only issue with this show is that it has made it almost impossible to enjoy other series because they just cannot compare to YR. They've ruined me! But hopefully other shows can learn from them and realize the power in something so raw and authentic.

I think it would make a real difference if Simon finds out it was Wilhelm's cousin August and that his sister knew and didn't tell him. They were both betrayed by family.

I really enjoyed watching your reactions to this show and you've made so many brilliant observations and comments throughout! I could really tell how invested you got into the characters and their story ❤
Although it broke my heart when Wilhelm denied him being in the video after those heartfelt conversations with Simon in the locker room/bedroom (have you ever seen a show with such communication goals?!!😍), I'm hopeful after Wilhelm broke the 4th wall at the end. His look, directly at the camera, to us as the audience; to me it just showed how pissed off at the entire situation he is. He's angry at August for betraying him and especially angry at his mother for not supporting him (especially after getting to know this information too late since he had already press-released his denial - I'm sure he wouldn't have denied it if he knew the truth before). That intense look towards us at the end showed his determination to fix this in Season 2, and that he won't take anymore BS (also why 'Revolution' was a perfect soundtrack during the last scene, as well as the whole show in general). Also, Wilhelm admitting that he loves Simon was a strong declaration at the end. To me that felt like 'I love you, and I will try and fight for us.' and Simon clutching to Wilhelm's jacket during that hug (I swear I could feel their love through their hugs, kudos to Edvin and Omar...the kissing scenes were sweet, but their hugs throughout the show - how tightly they held onto each other, those felt the most intimate - and this is coming from a person who is not usually a hugger...).
This is just me being hopeful for what I wish for in Season 2, but I know it won't be so easy.
I don't mind the angst. I want to see Wilhelm's journey. I just truly hope that we don't get a love triangle. I'm sick and tired of that trope in teen dramas. They know, and we know, how they feel for each other, we don't need the extra drama of a love triangle for the sake of 'jealousy' or whatever. But then again, it is a teen drama, so I won't get my hopes up 😒

And since the writers didn't go for the cliché drama tropes, I think we can be assured that there won't be a love triangle in s2. I love how much you loved the two characters and saw both of their perspectives. It was so disappointing to realize Wilhelm denied the video, but I'm sure I would have done the same thing in his place. I mean, his mom's sitting there telling him that love feels like everything when you're young and it's not and she's reminding him of all the press that will come to him, so much worse than it already has been for him and the poor kid suffers from anxiety. The idea of the comments on his life all the time must have been horrifying for him to contemplate.
Did anyone else notice that after Wilhelm tells Simon he's sorry, we see his mouth moving but there's no dialogue. I realize it was him trying to work up the courage to tell Simon he loved him, which he did a few seconds later. Wilhelm really came so far and I agree he's going to definitely want to tear it all down now. Also, that hug was so defiant. I mean, the kids already knew it was him in the video, but it made it clear to everyone watching that his relationship with Simon was not just about sex; it was about love.

i actually agree with the ending, i mean to deny it was him was the right choice, otherwise there would be way too much attention for the both of us, and specially damaging to Simon, since he is not a public figure. But denying it just means it's just two normal teenagers and people would leave Simon alone, i believe Wilhem also did that to protect him. Although some damage to him is still done. Also there will always be rumors about them, but i think it was best for them to do that so the attention will fade with time
A lot happens in this episode!! Can we please talk about Simons reaction to that looong incredible hug! Has Simon shut Wilhelm out? Yes, he's pissed, has to process things and on top that hug in public and the l-word. That staring they are having. Simon just wishing him a nice Christmas. Is he still interested in their relationship or is it just too complicated? He's proud to be himself and knows who he is. For God sake, they are 16! Great reaction video, once again :)
I think he's interested but respects himself too much for falling back into this relationship. He drew the line earlier in the ep and his reaction towards the end showcases that despite knowing Wilhelm would choose him if he could (and I think hearing that Wilhelm is actually in love with him was actually quite an important moment), nothing can happen between them as long as things are still on Wilhelm's terms. Is it fair? No. But I love the message behind it and I can't wait to see their characters' journey in s2 and how they'll eventually find their way back to each other 🥺

Like when i first saw this i was like “hell nah I would’ve just stood up for myself and not left simon alone in it”, but then i thought ME at 16 standing up against my mother THE QUEEN and the rest of the world. Nope. I would’ve probably felt like I didn’t have a choice. BUT I HOPE and pray that they make Wille stand up against it in the next season cause this might actually help a young prince or princess our there who might be feeling like him, or someone else who’s in a place where they feel like they cant live the way they were born. English is not my first language so i hope this made sense hehe

I like your interpretation. I mean, Wilhelm looking at the camera while the word "revolution" is sung makes it clear of what journey his character will have in s2 but I what you're suggesting adds an extra layer!

this was a year ago but i would do ANYTHING to watch s1 again for the first time. i LOVE s2... don't get me wrong. but nothing-- NOTHING is as magical as s1.
one more final thought-- sara turns, well, pretty awful in s2, but i love that in YOUR commentary you actually appreciate her character. i think that she might be the MOST relatable character, and many people forget that she actually has Asperger's and adhd (which of course do not define her but do explain a couple "problematic" scenes). i just love her... ill always be a sara defender :))

I was very disappointed by Sara in s2 but I totally understand the reasoning behind her actions and although she was selfish AF I don't think she's a bad person deep down so I don't hate her. We'll see if she deserves forgiveness in s3. Only Simon can decide that and I'll be by his side no matter what he chooses. Season 1 also has a very special place in my heart btw 😔💜
@@lovemyshelf i have a hard time seeing forgiveness between sara and felice but an easier time seeing it between sara and simon. she shattered his heart but simon does just… forgive (eventually). i hope that for his sake, he does what feels right to him because really she did one of the most awful things to him.

@@rayraytb I wouldn't be so sure for Felice. With time and if Sara proves that she understands why what she did was wrong, I could see them be friends again. In the end, Felice wasn't the most impacted by everything Sara did. I guess it depends of how willing to change and make up for things Sara is in s3 and if Felice is willing to give her a second chance. I hope the same as you for Simon by the way.

I was so sad at the ending but at the same time it needed to happen that way if they do get a season 2 (They Have To!!!) it’s a good way for the characters to grow being apart and develop their love story as the show continues though it will definitely hurt my soul if they get new love interest along the way but i see it as necessary BUT they BETTER BE end game and it will be a freaking REVOLUTION to get there!!!

I’ve really enjoyed your reactions to this series. I like how you’re soft spoken and very empathetic. And I think your point about how their first time, which would otherwise have been a beautiful memory is now tainted because of its release. That’s so tragic.
Regarding other shows, have you watched Gentleman Jack? It was an HBO show from 2019 and I believe it’s coming back for another season later this year. It’s set in 1800s England. I found the premise to be fascinating since it’s based on a real person and the lead actress is amazing.
