- I’ll teach you one way to cook Chicken Khao Poon, a traditional Lao coconut curry soup. THIS is my #1 favorite food of all time. If I could pick one dish to eat forever... this is it. I love how flavorful, rich, creamy and cozy it tastes. It’s perfect for fall and winter weather. And its also commonly served at parties in my family. In this video I chose to use chicken thigh and chicken feet as my protein. Stick around until the end to see how I cook the vermicelli noodle and prep garnish. This soup can be frozen for up to 6 months.

That's so sweet. Thank you. I try to keep my videos as short as possible. The TH-cam algorithm prefers long videos so many content creators stretch out the length of their videos to become monetized or generate more money. But, since that's not my #1 goal I keep it simple and short for a better viewer experience. :)
Yummy!! My second favorite dish behind Lao pho 😋😋. Good job ⭐️⭐️
Love pho too! On my list to make a pho video. ❤️❤️❤️

You’re kind. I’m sure she’s a great cook. Try one of my recipes together 🙂
Thanks for this, I was getting discouraged with how daunting this dish seemed but your version is worth a shot. I did lol at the end when you said "super simple"... About a dish with almost thirty different ingredients... 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂That's a fair point. Lol. I think many of the dishes are more intimidating than they really are. Let me know how it turns out. :)
You're a true laos . 👍

Damn u tight I thought I was laos when I saw the first video on Kua mee. Bless up 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you for watching!! I get that a lot. :)
I've never been much of a cook always had my parents cook authentic Asian food for me. I live on beach iN Oregon they have no Asian ingredients. I haven't had this dish for a year now. I'm going to give it a try tomorrow hopefully it comes out well😁
I'm really excited for you to try it! Let me know how it turns out! I think I could trade Asian ingredients for a beach house.... fair trade off.
@@CookingWithKhonKhao that’s what the hubby said lol, he is booking a Thailand trip so I can eat Asian food as much as I want lol.😂 thanks for sharing your recipes🙏
@@livingwithplants6043 you’re welcome! Enjoy Thailand
Yum!! Can you make Kua Mee next time? Thank you!!

Thank you!! Can’t wait
I’m sorry but we do not put oyster sauce in our khao poon🤦♀️
And I bet yours is delicious also. ❤️
Girl - can you do the fried chicken feet tho? Need that in my life
Omg yes! So good. I’ll do that video soon.
Dang! That khao poon packs some ka-pow!
Haha!!! Yas!
Why didnt my khao poon have hardly any meat?? It was the fish one and seemed to be that way traditionally. Is thay right?
Khao Poon can be made with chicken, fish, or pork. I've never had it with fish, but its common for it to be mostly broth and noodle no matter the meat you use. Also, the meat sinks to the bottom, so you have to scoop down to get a lot of meat.
Did you say 15mins or 50 mins on the chicken boiling?
Thank you for asking. 50 minutes. :)
A super easy way to cook the noodles. Bring water to a boil, throw in your noodles, bring it back to a boil and stir so they do not stick to each other. I turn off the heat and cover it with a lid. It will slowly cook itself sitting in the hot water while I am doing other things. It takes about 15-20 mins depending on how you like your noodles.
Thanks!! I’ll give it a try.
Can u do it without the lime leaf if u can't have it
Thank you for the question. The lime leaf makes a big difference in the flavor. But, the easiest substitute is lime zest. It wont be exact but close enough.
@@CookingWithKhonKhao okay thank you
Lol. I also like eating the skin. But my sister says ew.😅
It’s definitely preference!
No msg?
Lol! I know I usually use MSG in everything.
It’s opinional
HI. Sweetened or unsweetened coconut milk?
Hello. Great question! I use unsweetened.
Yummy 😋
Thanks for watching!
