I literally had the baby bottle pop jingle immediately cue up when the game music played. Amazing how easily an otherwise long-forgotten memory can be triggered and come roaring back to the forefront.
And Jared: "Fun fact, that was made before innuendos were invented." I think the reviewer quoted at 2:47 just created it.
With the little comic talking about someone getting nuked and getting powers - it actually reminded me -and looked like the origin of "Radioactive Man"
Placing that "Baby bottle pop" commercial melody with this game is a combo of supreme 90's mastery. I tip my hat to you sir.

I actually owned the GB version of Spanky's Quest as I grew up in the 00s/10s! I loved that game. Its not too memorable but I remember beating it for the first time in the middle of a science class lesson. It was a good high school memory for me.
Nice catch with the music of Spanky's Quest.
Splatterhouse was also ported to the FM Towns Marty, a CD console only released in Japan.

That Baby Bottle Pop jingle lives Rent free in my head and I can't believe I missed that.
I remember getting the Baby Bottle Pop tagline mixed up. I changed it from “lick it, dip it and shake it, then lick it again” to “first you lick it then you suck it.”
I couldn’t figure out at the time why my family was laughing at me for that one.
Jared, the level design is called "auto scroller" and it's totally different than an Endless Runner.
The biggest shock of all that came from Splatterhouse 2010 (at least to me) was that Jim Cummings was the voice of The Terror Mask. I know the dude is a legend among VAs and has played quite a range of roles, but it just kept making me laugh when I thought about Winnie the Pooh ripping demons apart in a sea of gore.
And now there's the movie "Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey". It came out last year, and Winnie the Pooh, along with Piglet, rips apart slutty sorority girls.

Peter Gabriel wants to shock the monkey and this video game wants to spank the monkey. No wonder they wind up on so many backs, they're trying to hide from all the abuse they get.

They overlooked Splatterhouse and you forgot Doom. Doom was also a target for Senator "Ban Em' All" Liberman. ID got around them by releasing the game for free via Shareware all you had to do is pay for shipping.
Addendum- Atomic Runner was renamed because it was seen as insensitive to the victims of Chernobyl. Atomic Runner for the Sega Genesis saw a re-release on the Sega Genesis Mini 2. The game is really...odd.

Splatterhouse 2
Splatterhouse 2 is one underrated action gory classic. Oddly enough, the TG-16 port ended with Rick dead and the mask utterly destroyed but then, we would never had a trilogy right?
Either way the original trilogy is alvaible on the PS3/XBOX360 remake or on the namco compilations. Also the Splatterhouse Famicom game also got ported in a namco compilation. Can't remember which.
Rick is killed right In the beginning of the game. Even in the arcade game it is like that. The Hell Mask is what brings him back to life and is responsible for everything that happened in that house technically.
Also at the end of the first game, the mask does blow up and then it reforms itself at the end after the credits.

HA HA Scared of Splatterhouse 2.....?? NO!..... I was terrified of Splatterhouse 3.. I recall renting it one Friday evening and having to shut it off and running upstairs.

Well I picked up the Spanky's Quest for GB on a whim. It said quest and I thought it was some RPG stuff but the gameplay was kinda disappointing. Only thing it had was the weird factor of battling sentient fruit enemies.
Can't win all the time, another time I randomly got System Shock for PC.
Splatterhouse rocked. I couldn't afford a Turbographix16 so I would rent one. And Splatterhouse was always one of the games I rented with it.

hard plastic pacifiers and bottles were a fad in the early/mid 90s for some reason, it jumped on that bandwagon and outlived it for years
