I want to thank my late wife, Megan, for introducing me to this before she departed. This and a few other songs kept me alive to finish raising our daughter. If anyone else is on the ropes and reading this, hold fast. Keep your chin up and refuse to quit. I'm proud of you for endeavoring. It gets better.
Thank you
Such lifting words! Hope You're hanging on in your life! Deepest gratitute 🍺

If you're listening to Taproot in 2025 you're probably old enough to remember when MTV played music videos 🔥
Yep MTV and VH1 and even Madonna used to be the bomb back then now everything went downhill even metal I miss the days of Nu Metal and Alternative Metal at least youtube gots my fix.
Truths
Well now I feel old shit
Am I that old wow wtf
I came here to say "Taproot 2023 anyone??" Lol
Late 90s and early 2000s will forever be the best era for rock and metal.
and movies
🤘
Idk I'd change that to early 90s through 2000's personally. Agree with those times, but just would extend it each direction a bit to include other era's like grunge for example
Agree 💯% 🖤
What he said!
The mixing is an absolute masterpiece.
Early 2000's Alternative rock,Nu metal,Hardrock " Era, "NEVER DIES🤟
Totally agree brother, this is a hidden gem.
That's true actually, Nu Metal is the most timeless genre in existence. It's eternally stylish and fantastic!
Alternative rock, nu metal, pop punk, post-grunge, post hardcore - late 90s and early 00s remain the best era for music ever. 🤘
Whoa, don't look now but some of you might be getting old. It's been my experience that those who don't crave novelty get stuck on their, teen/early twenties era music, being biased by association with peer consensus and fond experiences of youth. I've known some who deny that's what it is and some who lean into it, believing it inevitable for one to become a curmudgen, yet I'm probably older than you guys. Those of my generation got stuck in the eighties, which to me is clearly the worst era of the last century.

Awe! I remember the early 2000's and thought this kind of music would be around forever. I miss those days listening to the radio, wondering what would be the next new song I'd hear.
I was just listening to some 80s music and a commenter said the same thing. You never realize you're in the moment until it's gone
Numetal is back and very popular again in 2023-2024.
It never dies as long as it's remembered I'm going to see them at louder than life festival Louisville Kentucky in September I've seen them a few times but can't wait to see them again along with 140 other bands
This was one of favorites songs when it came out. I still jam it on the regular
This comment is a reminder to my future self to never quit... to keep going because the future is unpredictable and anything can happen... a miracle could happen that nobody was expectingband that could help solve so many of my problems... never lose faith and hope

This CD was in Layne Staley's CD player at the time of his tragic demise; And he was rehearsing privately to sing on these songs with Taproot, I only imagine how good these would be with Layne on them harmonizing the way he and Jerry did. If only he woulda stayed healthy we might had seen this come to Fruition. Stay healthy folks! thats the only way the Magic happens.

Welcome back to Nostalgia-ville! ^-^
It’s 6 years later now 😂😂😂
this song was ahead of its time this band is underappreciated
this band kept the 90s alternative.
I agree
this was 2002, not really ahead of its time but still unique
the genre entered its burnout phase long before this came out and 99% of nu-metal bands out there released a song like this one at least once
no not realy, by all means, it as a greta innovative song, but not ahead of its time, considering it was only the early 2000s
Can we go back to the 2000s... Never realize how good times are/ something is until it's gone😢
Not possible. We have to wait for out grandchildren to like our music and make music in that style for it to be appreciated.
Can remember listening to this on my minidisc player lol
You should have been there for the 90's, I got the best of both worlds 🤘

Internet: Taproot 2002, so old.
Top 10 nu-metal songs of all-time? This one is definitely on that list.
Man, loved these guys growing up and followed their career from the start to the end and was even fortunate enough to get to meet them. They were all super awesome guys. Can say this was one occasion where the old saying, "You shouldn't meet your idols" was not true.
Man the lyric in this song when he sings " In case of fire.. BREAK !! the glass"
Hits SOOO HARD!! love the way he screams "BREAK"
literally nobody could headbang like Taproot in this era. What a phenomenal band. Good days!
How stupid we were for wanting to grow up in a hurry, 90's was the last great decade but it bled into the early 2000's as well. Remember the good times because I have a feeling we still have a lot of bad in front of us....rock on 🤘
I'm not into heavy metal but this song goes hard... Thank you MVP baseball 2003 for introducing me to this song.. still like to listen to this song every now and then brings back memories.
I'm 35. Recently diagnosed as manic/bipolar. I remember hearing this for the 1st time as a teenager. Never thought I'd be back here completely understanding these words. Life is hope.
You have to man tf up, and you will have it beat! Worked for me!
Reminds me a bit of disturbed....😳😳🤟🤟
I don't know how this genre died out. But its always been lit. And I'm black saying this lmao
I might only be 13 but Nu Metal is my life and I should’ve been a 90s kid💀
One of the very few great bands of the nu-metal era
Imagine this - it's 2002, you're in high school, chatting with your friends on AIM, working on homework with Taproot playing on Yahoo Music Player. Great times go by too fast.
Why can’t vocals sound so angel like this. I’m 18 and all I see today in music is the same script, I hate that. I love this song and it’s honestly inspirational with the heaviness and the vocal mixing.
Right. I’m 18 too and music is crap right now. I can’t even listen to the radio unless it plays music before my time or when I was in single digits. Also, WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO ROCK?!
If you enjoy this, try Chevelle or 10 Years.
Dude, MAKE music like this. Your generation and kids like you are the only hope to continue good music. Good to see someone your age in here and actually liking it.

TRUE CRIME: STREETS OF LA
I COMPLETELY forgot about taproot! I LOVED them in high school back in the early 2000's and 20 years later rediscovering them is AMAZING!!!!!
In 2002 I got to hang out with them on their bus after seeing them play in my hometown. They showed me and my girlfriend at the time this video before it was even on MTV. Really down to earth guys and their drummer played drums on Celldweller's debut album.
This song came out while I was still actively in mourning and suicidal depression after the death of my daughter.
I think that younger me would be happy to know I broke the glass everytime I needed to and am finally able to move on and enjoy the time I have with her siblings who are still with me.
Man, I love nü metal.
I started with 80s thrash and 70s heavy metal, then got into new bands (2010s-2020s). I liked few early 90s bands like Primus or Infectious Grooves, for some reason I’ve always skipped the late 90s/early 2000s.
Then I heard Korn and everything changed.
Amazing this video only has 1mil views and this guy never broke out as a star. Just shows you how much talent there is out there that hasn't been recognized.
Was thinking the same thing when I noticed the video only had 1.4million views O.O
They had their fame in the early 2000s when nu-metal was at it's peak. This song was huge in 2002. I can remember alternative metal/nu-metal being at it's all time peak in late 2002 early 2003.
Aside from the rest of the album being weak compared to this, they did themselves a major disservice by fighting the internet. Nu metal never made it mainstream so the bands that did get huge did it online and underground. These guys, I believe, had some corporate backers who fought their underground/online exposure. There were a few years full of bands that got stuck by the ""Be heard" or "be paid"" dilemma. Unless you're a top act, it's a new luxury to be able to do both.
Damn good song!

Ty for posting the LYRICS! TH-cam's captioning sucks A** for this song especially bc of the particular accent he has when singing this song. I love it...especially for that time in my life and since that song, as well as many others were setting a stage for so many songs and bands that were so ahead of their time .
To be fair...it felt like it was the first time so many bands came out and were ahead of their time but that was just an experience of my generation (from our direct perspective)...but as I was saying, to be fair, The Hippie Movement and Generation, so to speak...had some of the most drastic and amazing evolutionary jumps from the music of the former years and the music of Jimi Hendrix, Jefferson Airplane, The Beatles, The Eagles, and so on.
Of course I'm sure if Mozart, Chopin, Bethoveen, & the others were still alive they would probably add another "fair" NOTABLE of their own! 😅
I didn’t hear a single “fuckin’” in there lol but the rest are correct for sure.
you caught that eh?....it kinda fits lol
