I lost a brother in Afghanistan, we first bonded over our love of Disturbed and this was his favorite song. I could not understand why until after he died. We said we were going to go see Disturbed when we got home, I have seen Disturbed live several time now and they have played Prayer every time. When it plays I can feel he is there with me. This song hits home for me. I was a heroin addict who lost everything. My house, my car, my family, my friends, I lost everything.. but I got it all back. October 21st 2022 is my 10 years clean mark. I got my family, my friends, my kids, my house and car, I got it all back with a little bit of hope and willpower.

A great friend of mine in middle school, was a die-hard Disturbed fan (6th through 8th grade). So much so, when he was taken from us a couple years ago in a car accident before the pandemic, some classmates and I, who havent seen each-other in about 10 years since we graduated, played this at his funeral in his honor.

I recently suffered from depression and sucidal thoughts and this was one of the songs that helped pull me out from that low place and honestly from the bottom of my heart I want to thank bands like Disturbed for making songs such as"Prayer." as you may never know who needs help out there to get out of their low points where the help in this case came in the form of a song.
I especially resonated with the light aspect of the video as it truly relates to my situation where I just need some light to cleanse all the darkness away from my life and get on with living in peace instead of misery.

Me too. At 21 Currently. My mom always played Disturbed in the car. I grew up listening to Down With the Sickness. Of course, she had to turn it down for 5 year old me for that Ike part. When asked why she did that she always told me “that’s not your part” and it’s an inside joke with us now.

This album was made while the singer was dealing with his grandmothers death, to him it was his mom. The whole album believe is uplifting. He was into death metal. Loss changes perspectives. You find new value in little things. Keep the faith and push on.

I feel that. I'm 26 and been down lately but disturbeds truth in their songs have brightened my outlook. Especially revisiting ths land of confusion video. I remember being like 10 to 16 years old blaring this on my xbox and xbox 360 all the time.

This song gives me strength in my darkest times. I'm truly going through a hell of a lot right now and I'm praying everyday that my beloved will get the help she truly needs and deserves. I pray to have a guardian angel watch over her and my children. I pray that the demons that have infected her mind are cast out and that she come back to us. This song came out almost 10 months after 9/11. MTV refused to show this on air because they felt people would be triggered by the falling buildings.
It's my all time favorite. MTV should have played it. It would have done more good than anything else that was on at that time and Disturbed's message rings loud in this anthem.

David Draiman harmonizes everything so brilliantly, I can't help but to say they are one of my favorite bands ever.
I remember mornings back in 2004, getting ready to go to school, I was in 8th grade. Every morning I'd watch the Fuse channel and this would play, along with Lost Prophets, Trapt, Three Days Grace, AFI, Slipknot, Breaking Benjamin, Blink 182, Chevelle, Smile Empty Soul, SOAD, The Offspring, and some others. I loved Heavy Metal and Punk Rock, and still do!!

I'm 51 and just started seriously listening to Disturbed this year. Or should I say 2020. The music, for some reason, has really helped me a lot. I've always been into rock but this music has given me a new outlook on life and a reason to get up in the morning. My husband passed away in 2019 after 3 bouts with lung cancer. It has been a very rough 6 years.. I needed something to wake me up and this certainly did it! Now I'm going to Staind and Disturbed by myself in July. Lol

I remember hearing David Draiman say the video was supposed to be like a modern twist on Job’s story. I didn’t have high speed internet at the time, so I think I must have learned this from the video content on the Believe CD itself.
Having just read about his early life on Wikipedia, it makes a lot of sense why he would sing about something like this.
I wouldn’t consider myself a huge fan of the band, but I do very much admire David. This and “Liberate” are the two most memorable songs for me. So much wisdom in just two tracks.

After reading only a handful of comments, but I can conclude that the amount of times this track has stopped people comitting suicide is truly breathtaking. The power of brilliant music is truly profound. Disturbed, you are literally the lifeblood of your fans.

The last era for quality heavy metal (2000-2010)??? I own this album, and I started to really respect these guys. I remember having my TV on mute while playing Final Fantasy XII and cranking this up. Any gamers out there? Try this: play one of your favorite games with the sound off, and put on a good CD. Sometimes the music goes amazingly well with the action on screen! Games can have good music, I know, but this is a practice I used to do all the time. Because I'm a history nerd, often I would put on a CD from the same year as the game I'm playing. Ever play Dragon Warrior II on the NES while listening to "Face Lift" (Alice in Chains)? Both released in the US in 1990. Try it!

This song speaks to my soul its a conversation between david and god after 9/11 and the passing of his grandfather. I also had a rough year, that year. My mom was diagnosed with cancer in april I lost my grandpa in may and then September 11th happened. This is the way I pray too, David! Rock on

I played this song omw to my Father's funeral, and so now every time I hear it, it brings me back to that day, and my heart hurts, it's been over 20 years now but some days it still feels like yesterday.

I was a 14 years old in ukraine school in 2008 where guys showed me the great music calls Disturbed. Calture shook... It was like drug. Impossible to live without it more than 2 hours.❤
I experienced childhood trauma through family violence for over a decade .. it continued on through rejection for another decade after that. I built coping mechanisms to get me through all those years of family violence, rejection and unworthiness such as working my ass off, working out like a mad man, Thai boxing and finding outlets.
I still remember driving home from work super late at night jamming out to this song and crying, empowered by the lyrics that life can bring anything it wants at me and I’ll find a way to win!
“Living just isn’t hard enough, burn me alive inside, take everything away”.. this song, in a lot of ways, saved me and motivated me to fight through my shitty life and redirect its trajectory by fighting. Thanks disturbed!!

Losing Mom sent me into a downward spiral. I rediscovered Prayer from Disturbed and while I always loved the song since it’s release, I related to it now as I felt like “living my life not hard enough, take everything away”

I just didnt get why would you say it on this song. From what i remember they started incorporating guitar solos when they went hard rock. In TTF. These guys had a lot of potential they matured big way, and Indestructible was their best piece instrumentally it was really good listen even though it wasstill kinda generic but really good. Sadly their last two album are horrible

not quite terrorism as much as it is an invasion, a good shot though. if you wanted to you could have brought up the sons of liberty - that would have been a bit more clever.
Apparently the song is a sort of response to how the church reacted to 9/11 so the significance isn't a coincidence

Fukt Ehhhhhhhhhhh... you could at least *attempt* an argument that PH was provoked, the government refused to sell them oil when they needed it for their war, and we were clearly on the path to join the allies so it was a preemptive strike. Still super shitty, but the civilians in the WTC didnt really do much, and there was no possible end scenario for the people that did it either. There was simply no possible way the terrorists could go to war with effectively half the planet and make any kind of victory, but from the japanese standpoint their navy was deadly as all hell and they could have had a chance if the US was taken out of the war early, though the russians likely would have invaded japan by land at some point.
i have always known who the band Disturbed is. Simple. When i want to meditate to a 'different' Universe... chill out and pick a Disturbed song to meditate to. Simple. Admittedly, NOT a venue of choice over a bottle of red red wine but a choice nun the less.
