I've been watching your videos since the start and nothing compares to your personality and way of reviewing cars. Best content on youtube by far. Please never stop what you do Bjorn! These night drives with charging and getting food are awesome. Nothing beats it
@@JohnBBuck Apparently that's what CATL's new 5c pack can do. The ~105 kWh pack in the Li Mega was shown doing a 6% to 80% charge, which is 77 kWh of energy delivered, in just 11 minutes 2 seconds. Insane charging speed on that battery.
When people look beyond the unfamiliar Chinese brand name, they will realise what a beast of a car the G9 is. It's main issues are software-related due to customisations and rewrites when coming to the Europe market, but they will be solved through OTA over time.
There are so many Chinese car brands and models still competing intensively in domestic market, and the firms who reach European market are only ones of them. There are so many models competing in different price range. The NEV sales is already reaching a 40% market share of the whole automotive market, hence iteration of products are crazy, like brands have a new model coming out each month. So we should be looking forward to more brands coming out from Chinese market.
Similar to Tesla that hasn’t fixed auto wipers, autopilot and parking “sensors” yet? It’s insane how much consumers are willing to accept, I don’t get it. Finish the product before shipping it please.
Given the price Audi and Mercedes are asking for their large SUVs in the UK if this makes its way here, and they can prove their longevity, its going to eat their market share and they deserve it.
What a car! i always watch your video's, keep going with that because they are really good. Therefore i drive a Model 3 since 4 years now, but i like to make the change to this one. I also drove this car last week, it's a great one. Thanks for your testvideo. ;-)
Pro tip: you can adjust autosteering in 3 levels. Also lane centering assist in 3 levels and you can turn emergency lane departure warning off. Helps makes Xpilot a bit more reliable. Good to know if you're gonna make an Xpilot testing video. You gotta test out all the settings.
@Jajalaatmaar How do you adjust autosteering in 3 levels? Sure you're not mixing up with steering wheel adjustment? (Komfort/Standard/Sport) like in a Tesla.
Hi Bjørn, I am looking forward to more tests/info about the G9, I think it is a very interesting adition to the marked. Only thing that concerns me is that ACC do not work whit trailer… can it be a settings problem!? Do you plan to do the 1000 km whit trailer? I am trying to find my future EV to pul a caravan (non Tesla 😉).

Hi Bjorn, Nice video. :) Please tell Xpeng to fix these ADAS problems with OTA updates, tune the car software to Europe, no more breaking in highway in curves, etc. Than it will be a good car to buy. Thanks A.
It is rather strange. In China, Xpeng is widely believed to have the best software. Guess they have to overhaul the software to comply with european laws.
Bjorn, can you please charge the G9 at a 500V station again when battery temperature is warm? Would be great to compare the onboard booster speeds of all the 800V EVs (eg BYD vs Hyundai vs XPENG vs Lotus etc), esp since the largest charging network (Tesla) is still all 500V - so this charging performance is a big deal. Afaik, XPENG should be able to charge at 500V least be in the hundreds of KW, if not close to the maximum 250kW of Supercharger v3.
700k nok, for me this still is a fortune. 300k is about as much as I'd be willing to spend on any car. But 700k is almost getting there if you're with a partner who can match my limit :)
My guess the reason autosteer is so bad, acrroding to Bjorn,is that nowadays Chinese cars rely more on lidar and high precision map, so the ai ability didnt really get improved,so when it rode on Europe, too much difference to adjust
@@bjornnyland thanks bjorn. I thought it was long range because performance has 21 inch wheels while yours seem to have 19 inches wheels if I am not mistaken
Is there some 1000km tonight ? G9 is a nice car and IF they can adapt the Autopilot to EU standards in my eyes then it’s a lovely alternative for an SUV.
I wonder how many km this pack will have in it charging at 200kW-300 kW rates more than just occasionally before it drops below 80% of the original capacity? As far as I know Xpeng doesn't have any unique chemistry that allows for 200+ kW charging from 0-70% without some negative repercussions. Regardless of pack architecture voltage, at the cell level and the cell level chemistry it has a c-rate that is appropriate to maintain health even if the BMS systems are top notch. Maybe they don't care as long as it makes it to 120,000 km or whatever the warranty covers? I see this as a marketing folly when each automaker feels they will have to follow suit to compete for the fastest charging speed, long term quality be damned. The average customer isn't knowledgeable enough about battery technology to scrutinize the nuances of having short term faster charging at the expense of long term pack health. This will inevitably hurt EV adoption when early battery pack failures start to plague customers and reach the media. It will be the confirmation that anti-EV advocates crave and will wield as a weapon. The irony might be that by the time the failures start happening if everyone jumps on board with 300 kW charging over a large percentage of SOC will be that battery chemistry will likely be better and will actually be able to handle these rates. But the media won't portray things this way and the average person won't get it.
I believe Xpeng have just been bought by VW.. shame.. there goes the competition which Xpeng would have otherwise brought to Europe.. Prices will be inflated because VW now own them.. I really hope the other Chinese companies are successful in Europe to bring prices down which are ridiculously high compared with the same car purchased in China.
In battery tech maybe but in terms of features they are miles behind and the push for auto everything is absolutely ridiculous when most of it doesn't actually work. Auto heat seating being the most recent annoying addition.
But western peoples religion is money. If you get something cheap the moral with the buying is secondary. Sorry to say that. Putler and Chinas leaders know that.
That has to be the charging champ. Unreal

Can't wait for you to test Xpeng G6.
Very interesting. The charging on this is just insane. There is only Lotus Eletre that can compete in our database on charging.
