Both my EV and my fossil car have heater elements in their front screens, I live in Scotland and am amazed that isn’t standard fit equipment on all cars in Scandinavia. I rarely need them but they are connected to the cabin preconditioning in both cars so no ice scraping or wipers frozen to the glass - the fossil even has a winter wiper park position so the wipers park on the heated part of the front screen when it is engaged.
I thoroughly enjoyed the video and the insightful explanation. It's commendable how Xpeng not only survived but excelled during the challenges, even in adverse circumstances. Impressive performance! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Lol 😂
Just making it there is a win for Xpeng. Most EV couldn't even turn on in that weather!
Great video Kris! I know I've been critical in the past about having awful music in the background, but this time I can tell you've put real effort into the soundtrack on this one and it works perfectly. Nice and quiet when you're talking to camera, and some great driving music for the driving parts. Great work :-) And if you think that's chaos, you should see what happens in the UK when we have 5cm of snow and 95% of the population is on summer tyres...
Thanks so much for bringing the XPeng G9 !! Marvellous EV from China. Greetings :)
Yes it very good!
I see a tendency for does Chinese cars not to have heaters that can handle Nordic winter weather.
Wow this snow storm. Thanks for this video.
Yeah, it was pretty insane!
I did almost this exact trip last May in mostly sunny weather, strangely i dont recognise any of the scenery 😂
I wouldn't even have attempted it in those starting conditions , stay safe !
It was really tough driving FWD that day.
I can believe that!
I was thoroughly surprised how well my FWD LRSM Polestar 2 did all day. Wasn't the fastest, but it got me everywhere I had to go. Definitely getting something AWD next though!
When visiting Zaptec please ask them to improve the Monta cloud integration - I have several mornings been waking up one of our cars not being charged.
Bouncing the responsibility between them and Monta just means a very poor costumer experience.
It's not the worst in history.
In the early 70 on the southern tip of Norway when winter was so bad that they used the second floor windows to enter and exit the homes. The mail was not deliver for weeks.
What's different is that we expect that the roads are plowed clean immediately, and we are more car depended... A bad combination.
Sure, there has probably been worse storms that have affected the country even more. As you said, there was maybe an even worse storm more than 50 years ago. But this was pretty bad, shutting down the three main airports in Norway, and the Metro and trains in Oslo as well as the light rail in Bergen.
What i really want to know is how the door handles and frameless windows, charging port and trunk/frunks handle the ice and snow as i am coming from a Tesla model 3 where its really bad, for instance the door handles on my model 3 freezes instantly and can be a pain.
Not many seem to use rear fog lights and if one has LED tail lights, they get snowed up anyways...
That front window heater seems to do quite poor job. Not designed for winter
in DK there were some guys with percentage in the display. Maybe they got an sw update.
I hope we get it here soon then :)

HI, I enjoyed the video. Incredible weather overthere. You said you are driving the AWD Performance. Can you tell me why it has the G9 LR standard tires on it? Normally the G9 Performance comes with the 21 inch spike rims and not the 19 inch rims. Thanks.
It's typical to use smaller rims for winter tyres. The extra rubber helps protect the rims from hidden potholes, and they heat-up a bit better.
Hei!
That's a babymaking blizzard.
a little ninja-trix in such snowy conditions when the heater can`t warm window up enough is to only use cold air on the window(no heat.. ), then the snow doesn`t melt, and you will not have any water iceing problem :) Cold as f%... car, but good window conditions :)
Norway didnt shut down, there wasnt even chaos in Norway. But, there was in Southern and Western Norway. In the rest of Norway it was business as usual. We know where we live, and are prepared for any kind of weather.
He knows. That's just simple clickbite title..
Sure, not even in the worst wars are whole countries shut down. But this storm shut down the three biggest airports in the country, it shut down the public transportations system in the two biggest cities in Norway and effectively affected about half the population of the country. So either way, pretty bad and not something we have seen in modern times.
@@KrisRifa More emissions of Co2, more heat, greater ability to absorb moisture, more precipitation. It's that simple. How can so many avoid understanding that. We live in a world of egocentric ignorance.
@@beehappy7797 hopefully it's not to late to save the planet... 🤞🤞
Dudes on bicycles mean to me that it’s not the “worst” winter weather
Major fail in the Navigation system, not finding all the chargers. And last I heard, BMW's having trouble with their Navigation distinguishing between Level 2 and Fast chargers. Unacceptable!
At least in a pre-facelift BMW iX3 (2021): You can filter those. A very useful function is using navigation while already en route somewhere, going into "Points of interest" -> Vechicle charging stations -> Filter -> CCS -> and choose "Along the route". Works wonders and updates the stall status live. Convenient, even though sadly, this version of iX3 does not have equipment to preheat the battery.
@@zaneverovati Ok. That's good. Navigation still easier in a Tesla.
@@777Outrigger Absolutely. I've driven various vehicles and seen literally hundreds of hours of extensive tests, and from what I gather from my personal experience, as well as from all those videos, Tesla is at least few years ahead of anything else, aside from maybe Google Automotive system (used in Polestar, for example), but no other system is as reliable as a Tesla in terms of range estimates, charging time estimates, real time info and all that. BMW is at best a compromise in terms of software - as You do get a premium feeling car, something that Tesla has apparently been lacking in - I'm keen on testing the refreshed Model 3 (what many online refer to as "Highland" model. I'm also considering the Xpeng G9, mostly due to the levels of comfort as well the absolute gigachad speed of charging, which seems to be 320kW at best and average Ionity charging speed during a session turns out to be over 200kW.
Cheers
Navi can see there is 0/6 chargers at the location, guess thats why :)
At what location? At my first charging stop all chargers where vacant, 6/6 are free.
At 2 min and 23 when you try to add the charging stop, its says not enough charging stations. Maybe its becauce the lokation is 0/12 free @@KrisRifa
Yea, I noted that as well... the chargers were fully used...
Shouldn’t set out on the road in those conditions unless absolutely necessary
Jusy waaay to far from chaos… you must have to remember that you are from North… and this is just normal winter as it should be…😁
I'm from the south tip of Norway, and I consider this within normal for Norway..
Spoiled people whom expect the roads to be plowed clean at all times.
@@MichaelEricMenk 👍💪
This day qualifies as chaos and is not normal because it did not only affect Oslo, but also western Norway which is not used to much snow at all during the winter. This storm closed down Norway three biggest airports and the public transportations system in Oslo and Bergen. In these three metro areas there is close to 2,5 million people.
If you are stopped by the police with such poor visibility, you can lose your licence. Would never buy a Chinese car that is not equipped for winter driving. Tesla has a better heating system and even heat in the windscreen wipers. Always full visibility regardless of conditions.
@@KrisRifa Viking don’t seek for excuses… as we know “excuses are for losers”😁. This is normal winter conditions for any country where there is normal winter…so be tough and keep sailing! 😎
Worst snow storm in history in norway 😂😂not even close
I stop watching the video at 1:30 min. becouse I ve seen a ciclist riding among cars on the road with a serious speed on the snow. Thats the realy extrem . He is a badd ass.
Now back to the video.
Haha! Exactly what I thought! Oslo Airport, The Metro system and trains all shut down, but there is this dude just on his bicycle!
He doesn’t have a car no public transportation and the young lady he met yesterday called for company
The EVs are a nightmare!
The Syncro Heresy
WD40 on your wiper blades. Try that.
Heat in the windscreen wipers prevents icing in extreme conditions. Strange that Chinese cars don't have it. Another feature that shows Tesla's superiority in terms of safety.
Is this a joke? Tesla cant even get their windscreen wipers to work right. Has ghostbraking, lots of quality issues, peeling paint and you say its superior?

Why is people talking about % - it’s much much better to know how long you can drive in kilometres- who cares about %
% is correct, km is a guess by the car.
Estimated distance you can travel changes with speed, temperature, road surface, wind speed, wind direction…..
Most experienced EV drivers seem to prefer %. It's used exclusively by all of the most experienced EV TH-camrs.
