Personally, I think there’s probably less segment overlap than people might think. I asked my Ineos dealer who was buying - he said mostly JLR, G Wagen and maybe some GMC Yukon owners (basically people willing to give up some luxury and either get something more functional, or at least try to signal some credibility) - not so much Jeep and 4Runner. The majority of those owners are in a different price bracket, and for the small portion that overlaps or even exceeds (lookin at you, 392), they are all about “extreme” - on HP, lift, wheel size, or their wraparound Oakley sunglasses. It competes with something that doesn’t exist anymore- the old Defender and Land Cruiser. It was created precisely because that segment was abandoned. It’s more of an adventure/over-landing segment with serious off-road chops built to last a lifetime. Stuff that would just rattle a Jeep to bits over time. It’s less worried about “extreme rock crawling on 35+.” It’s a different buyer and different set of criteria.

Love the Ineos. I think it should be 10K cheaper than it is, if Ineos can start lowering the price as they ramp up production it would do very, very well in the USA. Also would love a diesel engine option.

    Ben,
I would really like to see a comparison between similar price point vehicles. Say...
Lexus GX 550 Over trail + vs the Ineos Grenadier. A discussion on:
Pricing, Fuel type 87 or 93, real world mpgs, towing capabilities, off road capabilities, etc!
No one has really done that comparison on TH-cam yet!

@Brian_Eugene_Lee my experience in jeep has been since the penta star engine, and iv been driving since 4 months testing the car in different terrains mostly the desert. For me its safe to say that the ineos is the better choice.. main downside is the cost of service and spare parts compared to the jeep in addition to the availability of aftermarket accessories since the grenadier is kinda new and all..

Personal opinion different use cases - the Rubicon guys are “off-roader / rock crawlers” - the Grenadier you’re going disappear in Namibia to hang out with your arms dealer pals in the desert. It’s more “adventure/overland” oriented. The Jeep guys immediately ask if you can run 35’s; the Grenadier guys don’t care. Different buyers, different boxes to check.

Recently watched an off-road comparison between these two. The Wrangler Rubicon won, kinda not surprising because the Wrangler is an OG offroader, lots of RnD in the tech used. The Ineos is the new kid on the block, has some years before it can really compete. Would love to see the Jeep Wrangler 392 vs the rest (Defender, Grenadier, Bronco, 4Runner...)

I'd say the Jeep is better for rock crawling or technical trails and the Grenadier is more for agricultural work or long distance off-road touring/remote traveling

Sure in pure off-roading, but if you were over landing the ineos is superior in every way, double the towing and space for equipment, also it rides way better I’ve driven 2 now

Turning circle seems too large on the Grenadier, and the extra height with the rack might make some parking garages a no-go. Being so much larger makes living in the city an issue. Being able to go topless is a big advantage for the Jeep. And let's face it, they've been at it since 1941. That's some serious back yard experience.

I haven't drove the Grenadier yet, but as a current classic Defender owner I love the vehicle and I've followed it since Sir Ratcliffe came up with the idea. I also love the Jeep Wrangler and I'm impressed they were able to add curtain airbags to the 2024 model. I plan to get a Grenadier or a Wrangler as a daily, but it's a difficult decision. The Grenadier is the better vehicle, but I think the Wrangler is a better buy. I also prefer having a manual transmission, so I'll probably get a Rubicon with a manual. I've read some bad things about the 4xe hybrid, such as premature battery failure and the vehicle will disable itself completely if there is a fault with the hybrid system. I've read there's a class action lawsuit for 4xe owners. They should have designed it so that it can be used as a regular ICE vehicle if something is wrong with the electrics. There's no way I'd want a 4xe out of warranty.
You have to also consider the Wrangler has phenomenal aftermarket support and there are lots of dealers. There is very little support for the Grenadier with only a handful of dealers. The Grenadier was also suppose to be DIY friendly, but they haven't released the parts catalogue and workshop instructions yet as far as I know. So as things are now going with a new Wrangler is probably the best decision. Then maybe a Grenadier in the future as the product matures and support improves.

Nice comparison. Jeep needs to get some stronger engines and they know it. Other than the 392, the 3.6 and two liter turbo can’t match the 2.7 and 3.0 liter Bronco engines in performance , or the BMW engine in the Ineos.

One huge market loss for the INEOS is the transfer case. Try getting it into neutral and flat towing it all wheels down! Easy in the JEEP not in the INEOS. That’s one reason why you see so many JEEPS behind RVs!

  • @lbco5229
    @lbco5229 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

The solid axles make these the correct two vehicles to compare. Ineos is a bit ‘up-market,’ price wise and veered away from its originally intended simplicity into complexity. Jeep wins on looks. Ben - of course they drive great up to 35mph. The sketchiness with the steering of solid axled vehicles happens at 55 and above.

Unfortunately, the Grenadier, in that configuration comes to about $125,000 in Canada… Plus a luxury tax for vehicles over $100,000, plus another 15% harmonized sales tax…😬
That comes to over $140,000 in Canada…
I still have a reservation number for the Grenadier, but just purchased a brand new Jeep Rubicon loaded with everything except for leather seats, which are no longer an option, unless you choose the Rubicon X, which comes with the new style transfer case which I didn’t want …
I picked it up for about $75,000 Canadian plus a whole bunch of tax of course, but all in, it came to about $90,000 Canadian… considerably less…
The other major consideration for purchasing a Grenadier in Canada, is that there are currently only two dealerships… One in Vancouver, and one in Toronto. The latest correspondence that I’ve had with Ineos, is that they insist that the vehicle must be serviced at a Grenadier service center… that’s a 16 hour drive for me…😢

So he decided to just make it himself by creating an automotive business. He got sued a lot by JLR since his designs resemble the old Defenders a lot. Took like 7 years to get to this point so it's basically a very new company and these are their first production models

BMW power plant.... would sell lIneos long before 100k miles... With the jeep, I take it to the mountains after 100k and really use it hard until it is ready to become a rock crawler with someone else. My jeeps have gone 275k(06), 280k(16) and 80k(20) with 15% being offroad or around the farm. lIneos is most likely 900-1200lbs heavier unsprung, it is going to feel more planted. If jeep was not an option, Ineos long before the soccer mom land rovers. I do not have the trust of toyota products yet. Ford we will find out if the transmission is up to snuff over the next 18 months.
