I don't care. Just IMHO the game feels uninteresting. It's well put together on the technical aspects but the story and characters are bland if not flat out annoying.

Interesting. Playing through the series now with my wife. We liked the original trilogy. Especially 3 and judgement. But 4? Ohhh man. The absolute worst in the series. All guns feel like paper, new weapons boring and all look like rectangles, enemy ai is way stupider, boring characters. Boring environments. Funny how different people see things. Started 5 just now. Big stepup from 4 so far.

agreed. uncharted 4 has way superior graphics compared to GOW 4. Im currently on the 5th act now. The first 3 acts were not that good to me because of the robot enemies. It really picked up after the 3rd act though. Good game so far but i say maybe a 8.4
I enjoyed this game much more than I thought I would. The new enemies provide very different challenges, each in their own fun way. When enemies leap over cover, dodge your bullets, and jump from a great distance to land right next to you, it keeps the game play challenging and interesting
I do like the direction we're going with the slow merge of Xbox and PC. It really does prolong the life of these games. And in some areas being able to play with other people on both platforms is awesome. PC and Xbox is really becoming it's own unified platform. We also see this with mods coming to Xbox.

Just beat this game and I gotta say, it was one of the most badass campaigns I've ever played. It was difficult, I loved the weapons and the graphics were great. This is an amazing game and I recommend it to anybody. I only played the 1st gears of war before this and I didn't feel like I missed that much on the story. This game did a good job touching past parts of the story.
Being a PS player, I have to say, this game looks so good that I might just buy an Xbox scorpio only because of that game
The scorpio is bound to be amazing. but if you have a good pc don't forget that you can buy it on that as well. Not sure if versus pvp is but Horde and possibly Co op campaign is cross platform with the xbox.

I just finished the campaign for Gears of War 4 and it is awesome! Congratulations to the Coalition for proving the Gears franchise is in very capable hands and I will definitely be spending countless hours in horde mode.

Sounds like 343 Industries should takes notes on this. They've been leading Halo down the sewage pipe since Halo 4... rather than building on the strengths of the original games- like Firefight mode- they keep trying to force us to accept jacked-up gimmicky new modes and mechanics. They also completely changed the art style of Halo (and not for the better), whereas Gears of War 4 seems to keep true to it's predecessors artistically.
Aryck-The-One I agree. I was worried about Gears 4 due to how Halo 4 and 5 were, so I held my breath. But I was more than pleasantly surprised at how they complimented the original trilogy, as well as adding in new things as well.
I felt the exact same way; the only difference is that I kind-of enjoyed Halo 4's campaign, but I hated Halo 5's. I was well and truly worried about Gears 4's campaign, as well as the fate of Horde Mode, enough that I bought the game and didn't play it for quite a while (though, that's also due to IRL circumstances that didn't really allow me to sit down and play anything for more than 30 minutes). Only recently I actually played it, and loved the campaign. Horde mode is really fun, though I will miss Beast Mode from Gears 3. Still, I feel like that's a minor loss; Gears 4 was a major success IMO, and I'm actually excited for Gears 5, unlike Halo 6 or Destiny 2.
Halo 4 had a better campaign but both Gears of War 4 and Halo 4 had trash MPs for different reasons. Halo 4 just built off what was hated about Reach bad made it more COD like. Gears of War 4 was littered with loot boxes. As much as I love Halo 4’s story Gears of War 4 at least has horde mode going for it.

Just because it happened once with GameSpot doesn't mean it'll happen again. I'd like to think most reviewers would simply find a different sponsor if they were threatened like Jeff Gerstmann. Not to mention the number of less-than-favorable reviews given to AAA games by various reviewers over the years, and yet we only have a few incidents where any wrongdoing happened, at least that we know of. I have a hard time believing that it's an industry-wide problem. Based on what little evidence we have it's most likely just a few rotten apples. That's the problem with conspiracies after all. The more people involved the less likely it is to be true.
This game is freaking amazing! They kept the old formula with gameplay and weapons which always work great and added new stuff that smoothly integrates into the game! Why couldn't 343 did the same with Halo 5 instead of trying to reinvent it. Gow4 did not disappoint everything was amazing Act I was a little too slow pace for my taste but after that it picks up and it just gets better and better

I never trust major reviewers like ign and gamespot anyway but considering I bought this game on Friday I'd have to aide with ign on this one. In my opinion gamespot gave it a to low score for how good and fun it actually is. best out of the series for me. only beast mode would of made it more complete.

Also, the game doesn't need 360 view at all. The camera angle works fine for the flow of the gameplay.

Playing this made me play GOW2 again. Honestly considering it's 10 years old-which in videogame years is 50, the graphics are absolutely amazing.
Never played a gears game, but rented this recently and finished it in about a week with only a rudimentary knowledge of the previous games - super fun, hope there is another sequel.

Finally got this game years later. I’m playing on hardcore mode. It’s quite challenging but certainly entertaining.
Gears is my favourite game franchise of all time. So many great memorable moments that no other franchise comes close to for me. Both gameplay, and the amazing story is just incredible. It's almost a shame that it's not Multiplatform, as I know that if it were it would be up there with the cods and battlefields in popularity. You ps guys really don't know how good it is until you've played it. Although it's one of those franchises that you really need to play in order to get the full experience. The first gears multiplayer will always be my baby, that was a masterpiece.

Although the ugliness from people is what sickens us as video game enthusiasts, this "war" is a good thing because as long as Sony and Microsoft are always at each other's throats, we win as consumers. Probably why we got awesome deals and bundles for Xbox One S consoles and PS4. In essence, we need this competition.

I wouldn't rank this as the best. That spot belongs to 2 and 3 for me. Its a good game but I would rank it around the same enjoyment level as Gears Judgment story wise anyway.
Marck Blanchard the story was just okay for me. I thought JD fenix was just a bland character when compared to his father as well. I still enjoyed it though, just not as much as 2 and 3

Idk what people are saying. Ending was brilliant - I want to know how the relationship to [ ] character's grandmother is going to play out in at least two more full games. I could see it going two directions and both excite me although I'd rather the character right the deeds of grandma rather than follow in footsteps because [ ] was the best character in the game (aside from original series cast). Hope this is cryptic enough not to spoil...

Well Uncharted has floaty and unresponsive combat that attempted to imitate Gears like all the other cover shooters of the 2000s. You can't beat the OG at its own game, Uncharted plays horribly in comparison to Gears of War; the king of 3rd person shooters is back baby!

Really? I feel the opposite. I've played both Uncharted 4 and Gears 4, the former I own and the latter I played at FanExpo last month. I felt Uncharted 4 to be more responsive and flowy compared to Gears' more than a deliberate and heavy pace.
I do understand why though.
In Gears your character rotates along with your camera which means while Uncharted 4 both the character and camera move separately. While this seems miniscule at first, it doesn't. In Gears there's certain actions that are only available when moving forward, namely the Roadie Run and Lancer's (both iterations') melee moves. Additionally, your Dodge move is only locked to 4 directions: left, right, forward and backward. It's a small issue to me because what if a piece of cover is at some 45 or so degree angle and I try to roll in that general direction but I'm locked into a deliberate direction. Sure a readjustment of the camera is an option but what if I want to keep my reticle or general firing area onto an enemy while I roll? Also I find that your evasive actions take about 1/3 of a second to register. Because I press a button hoping to Dodge immediately, but I have to wait for a bit in order for it to work. I don't remember if it was a double tap input, but it felt delayed to me (I was playing on the hard difficulty so maybe I was kind of asking for my character to die).
Uncharted is a little more intuitive in this sense; since the camera and the player aren't locked together, this means I can keep my eyes on the enemy trying to turn me into Swiss cheese as I make myself mobile. Dodge rolling also is not locked to 4 directions which makes things much more intuitive to me. Also, Uncharted's level design is more vertical, so it demands a little more thought to where the player is positioned for any given combat/stealth scenario. Gears balance this by having much more in your face action and enemies are much deadlier. And given that Gears characters don't have the floaty attributes of Uncharted characters, it makes them that much easier of a target. I won't really talk much about the gunplay since U4 and G4 are the best in their class, with U4's more mobile approach contrasting with Gears' more crunchy and heavy approach. Which defines their settings pretty well. Uncharted being the Hollywood Indiana Jones type experience, whilst Gears being the downcast and rough war experience that it is.
I will have to give the story more credit to Gears' side than Uncharted's. Gears actually has high stakes and reasoning to why 2 sides are trying to kill each other (at least in terms of the original Trilogy, so I can't really say much for 4). In Uncharted the stakes are high as well, but nobody really bats an eye to how many people Drake added to his body count in all 4 games.

Gears has something that Uncharted never had, and that's great multiplayer. Their stories are both amazing, but Gears backs it up with legendary multiplayer while Uncharted feels more baked-in.
My opinion after completed I give 9.5 > ign 0.3 point. Great job IGN :)

Yeah, but many games are. The first "Gears of War" seemed unbelievable when you saw previews. It was such an insane upgrade to what we were used to. That's what he's referring to. The original trilogy still holds up in the looks department too. I'm playing GOW2 right now, and it's amazing that it's a 10 year old game.

Finally just got around to playing this. Played the campaign in two sittings. Best shooter campaign ever.

Fun game but I don't think the story held up to Gears 2 or 3. I also like the level designs of 2 and 3 better than this one and I didn't really enjoy playing as JD Fenix, he just felt bland when compared to his father and the other Gears characters.
I prefer Gears 2 and 3 over all the other Gears titles. Gears 1 next, then Gears 4 and Judgment.
DeadProphetsFate same except i actually enjoyed JD. My little gripe is how short and inconclusive the ending was. I didn't feel like I accomplished anything like i did in the first 3. There wasn't really an antagonist. I was extremely suspicious about the object that revealed something important in the end before they confirmed what it was in the end. I noticed really early in the campaign and said to myself "hmmm it may just be a random ____". But it wasn't. I enjoyed the campaign either way but idk it didn't have that big of a finale like the last 3. RAAMs shadow had a better ending tbh lol anyone that hasn't beaten it will understand everything im saying

I didn't even know of gears of war before I watched it for the first time and I only watched it because I liked the youtuber posting it but now I've seen what it is and I've seen that you get all 4 other gears of war games with it I just spent £49.99 on it and I can't wait to play all the games myself
gears did what halo 5 didnt, i still love halo and halo 5s MP but tge story in halo 5 was a little flat but fun to play, gears of war 4 EVERYTHING IS AMAZING! STROY, MP, HORDE! campagin was epic!!!

my only complaint is the horde mode the currency system promotes being a lone wolf since you dont want people stealing your money
