I remember I could never get host because my Internet was bad. However, my friend had worse Internet and for some reason he would get host on occasion. It was so bad that he would be the only one actually able to play, similar to a lag switch. The games with him as host usually lasted 4 minutes or less lmao
Being host gave so much of an advantage that people would leave rubber bands on their thumb sticks to keep their character moving while they were at work or school, just to make sure they were host when they got back on. Crazy.

Ive always had PS but when id go to my best friends house a kid I fell in love with gears 1-3. I'm glad to see 5 is doing well...truthfully it might be a system seller for me. People who havent played gears dont know what they are missing.
gears fan forever. I still play the first gears of war online on the 360. Not always easy to find a match but when you do. Annex with friendly fire in the map gridlock is pure heaven.
I mean he didnt touch on the story so I dont know how that's going to be, but the gameplay looks solid because they kept the core aspect of what a GOW game plays like while updating and adding worthwhile additions. As a fan since the first one this looks good to me, 4 was good gameplay wise but the story left something to be desired and the loot boxes turned me off of the game, hopefully they get rid of that

ID like to have a dlc dedicated to the pendulum wars. Id like to see more of the old wold. Gears lore îs my favorite ever. I miss the darkness and malincoly of the first two games, when humanity was on the verge of extinction, struggling with the locust. That atmosphere was unique. I love gears 5 and I give IT a 8.5/10. The gameplay and everything is perfect, but the New characters miss the old manliness and pesimism of the old gears. They're just like Kids Who enjoy an adventure, unaware of the darkness and danger around them, not like the action mature guys from delta squad, Who knew how to get the job done.
Older comment to this video…but as a (Casual Gamer) who only plays main campaigns/stories in video games, this is my favorite Gears of War game since part 2. The first GOW is still my favorite but I am really looking forward to a “Gears 6”. 😎

My dad has been there since the first game. I bought this game for his birthday which was coincidentally the day after gears 5 released. He loves it so far and I’m happy he loves it 💙😄
Im glad you did something for him, really, you should be proud that you actually give something to your parents, even so, i have to warn others not to buy this game. Its 100% a clone of gears 4 with a little sprucing up. The highlights are the games free roam campaign ( its mediocre, nothing to get to excited over. Basically a less rewarding halo odst ) and the new bullet tag system. The actual shooting and multiplayer is extremely inconsistent right now, only 3/4 shots land with the gnasher. Recoil was altered on rifles to make them more viable at range( which they failed at doing, seeing as everyone in pubs and ranked just use a gnasher and power weapon anyway) so basically the same as gears 4. Ive beaten two runs of horde, the only change really is that certain characters have special perks. Pretty much nothing else but minor convenience changes. Do yourself a favor: get this game on the game pass. Do not buy the ultimate edition like i did or even the regular edition. You have been warned.
As a Sony fan this is a reason to get an Xbox I love gears of war, all of the games I definitely need to pick this one up. And an x to appreciate this title at 4k 60fps. Long live the cog.

Jeeroy Lenkins i got a fully capable pc with a 1080ti. I built it 9 months ago you want to know how many times I have used it in total 6 times. Yes 6 was a waste of money I don’t play pc. Spent 2000$ on a pc for it to sit I always wanted to build a pc did it not a fan of it. Don’t get me wrong Pc is good, I just don’t have enough time for it or want to play it only for exclusive games that’s why I built it but found myself not even touching it. So to me it’s a waste. I rather play consoles.

Like I told the other guy though, I just don’t see the point in getting an Xbox one when all of their ‘’exclusives’’ are on PC anyway (and you have a great pc) but it’s your choice :)
You mentioned the part about wishing there was a catch up for the first 3 Gears games for newcomers. There actually is in the main menu and it does a really good job!
Luckily when gears 5 launched they put all of them on the game pass so you can literally play all of them if you were so inclined and new to the series
I know this is old but I just started playing this and it is great! I agree it would be better if you could upgrade the characters instead of or as well as Jack. It would be nice to have some base abilities you can make better with progression.
Jacob W The dialogue between characters in this game seem way more natural and way less cringy compared to gears 4. Honestly from what I've seen the voice acting in general has vastly improved in this one.

Honestly I’m with you here I came to gears of war for the fun shooty shooty action but sticked around way longer because of the lore. And idea of there being variations of the weapons instead of just “this is a shotgun this is a sniper” just sounds great to me.

@@Renegado140 I don't know how many. More times it Happens. I've only encountered one so far but I'm only about 5 or so hours in. It wasn't too bad on the Experiences difficulty, which would bassically be hardcore.
Gamepass is very much worth it. It's pretty cheap considering. plus they keep coming out with deals for it . I recently paid 2 dollars for 3 months of game pass. It's not free of course? People need to make money for their work. it's totally worth it

I grew up on the old school gears games gears 2 being my favorite. At first I didn’t like 4 then I saw gears five was coming out so I played gears 4 and it was decent but gears 5 has definitely made an awesome first impression on me so far!
I admit when I played Gears 5 I went back to play Gears 4 again, and that's when I realized how enjoyable it really was. I don't understand why people are hating on these new gears games.
Gears 5 is a departure from the series. The characters are softer and half the quality set piece moments are replaced with a vacant semi-open world to pad out the game and give the illusion that its longer than it really is

If 4 lost your interest, this gane easily makes up for it. Fantastic in each of its game modes. I've put about 26 hours into the game so far and only really found 1 or 2 glitches and a simple checkpoint reset fixed them.
This game is good, for a still indev game. *!!!WARNING!!! SPOILERS BELOW!!!* Campaign gives an interesting story, and makes me excited for the next game. The open world aspect was a nice addition, and I felt like I'd play the story again. However, the choice of choosing between Del and JD at the end was a very annoying choice, as was the necessity to keep Jack upgraded, despite the cool upgrades. I mean, do I really want to spend my time searching for components just to make Jack better? Probably. But it takes up a lot of game. Versus is cool, and the addition of Arcade makes me happy to see unique abilities and stuff. However, Co-Op vs AI is probably the best due to not having to fight against people who could be way better than you. Horde is back, and unlike many, I adore the new system. Perks, building limits, and the ultimates. And the perk cards. However, there is a lack of variety, and we may need to see more enemies. Maybe a Pendulum Wars map, where we fight Indies? Escape is by far my fave mode, with custom hives, and a challenge. However, the lack of characters may need to be changed. Highly. And finally, Customization. This aspect of the game was a cool variety of appearance. However, the Hivebuster Characters need new skins. Here comes an idea: *Origins Skins* This dresses up the Hivebusters as their original selves that we hear of. Keegan would be an Onyx Guard, though Helmet off for recognization. Lahni would be a member of... what was it... 81st Brash Brigade? And Mac would be a stranded Truck Driver, similar in clothing to Big Rig Dizzy, though probably with different colour scheme *HiveDestroyer Skins* Dresses up the Hivebusters as Veteran Hivebusters. Only for the Launch Characters. Keegan: Armour is now a darker shade of green, with green lights on the shoulders, and a half mask hanging around his neck most of the time. Max: Half mask is now on his face, and he wears better armour, covering all of the arms, and with green lights on the forearms. He wears cracked goggles on his forehead. Lahni has got a darker shade of green on her armour, short sleeves, and has green lights on her waist. Heavy duty boots, and a blue glowing holster for her knife. *!!!SPOILERS ENDED!!!* All in all, this game needs development to make it a bit better, and probably a return of Gears 3's Best Mode, if The Coalition want to try. A 9/10, good game, and definitely a favourite.

I like how they changed hord so you don't have to rely on a scout for gathering power. but I don't like the thought of only one person playing that character at time or can you have multiple people as the same character.

I loved this series. Though it took me 10 years when i was 6 years old to beat the berserker, but. Hey. It was amazingly fun playing this game series. Now to wait for my xbox to get me access to this amazing series and hopefully they get to work on the open up levels to allow for that sweet sweet metro 3rd person actiony feels. Heck! Could even get an army setting up since the cogs been abandon and whatnut and have to fight your way back to the top, all while swarm continuously pound against ya front doors.
I tend to dislike games with preset protagonists. I much rather play as myself or a character I create and join in with the characters that tell the story. I hate being stuck playing as the wrong sex,age,color for me to connect to. Its immersion breaking and immersion is essential for me.
Massive gears fan, but I think this should have been held off for Scarlett. Imagine having Halo Infinite/ Gears 5 taking advantage of all that processing power.
But that'll just leave two halo/gears games for the xbox one while I''m sure halo and gears got three plus games a pair - not including games like halo wars. Well I mean, wouldn't xbox one just have gears 4 and halo 5 without gears 5 and halo infinite?

ActingAnimal 88 I know what you mean but I felt the conclusion of the trilogy, so it helped me get into the story and when I played judgment, I was like why? But when I first played 4 I wasn’t into the story at all the characters don’t have the same charm to me as the original. Del is the only reason why I liked the story for the most part.
At one part (escort mission) is full of bugs, AI partner stucks at wall and don't help u out during gun fight which make the particular part nearly unplayable. Just hope they ever fix the pc version of this game.

The multiplayer is fun, but with early access there are alot of bugs that stop progression. I have played 5 different games in which none of my progress was saved. Open 4 supply drops but didn't save anything that I got. Not mentionning the campagin/collectible progression not being saved

Being able to play as different Locust was badass. I just wish they'd bring it back, and tweak it to improve on it a bit.

Don’t get me wrong Pc is good, I just don’t have enough time for it or want to play it only for exclusive games that’s why I built it but found myself not even touching it. So to me it’s a waste. I rather play consoles.

Like I told the other guy though, I just don’t see the point in getting an Xbox one when all of their ‘’exclusives’’ are on PC anyway (and you have a great pc) but it’s your choice :)
You mentioned the part about wishing there was a catch up for the first 3 Gears games for newcomers. There actually is in the main menu and it does a really good job!
Luckily when gears 5 launched they put all of them on the game pass so you can literally play all of them if you were so inclined and new to the series
I know this is old but I just started playing this and it is great! I agree it would be better if you could upgrade the characters instead of or as well as Jack. It would be nice to have some base abilities you can make better with progression.

Gears 5 got me back into gaming, there was nothing to play everything boring. Its pure fire!
loved the open world bits precisely because they broke the pacing up into parts that felt better to digest.
oh and the music was excellent.
I just hope the characters are better this time. I didnt care about any of the new characters in Gears 4

Jacob W The dialogue between characters in this game seem way more natural and way less cringy compared to gears 4. Honestly from what I've seen the voice acting in general has vastly improved in this one.
Umm its even worse you play as a the two characters I really didnt give a shit about in the first one. But you know they gotta replace white male characters with females n blacks in everything now. Even tho white guys invented all this shit we are being replaced wise up.
Honestly I’m with you here I came to gears of war for the fun shooty shooty action but sticked around way longer because of the lore.
And idea of there being variations of the weapons instead of just “this is a shotgun this is a sniper” just sounds great to me.
Maybe I’m imagining it but it almost looks like there’s less blood decals than in originals

@@Renegado140 I don't know how many. More times it Happens. I've only encountered one so far but I'm only about 5 or so hours in. It wasn't too bad on the Experiences difficulty, which would bassically be hardcore.

I grew up on the old school gears games gears 2 being my favorite. At first I didn’t like 4 then I saw gears five was coming out so I played gears 4 and it was decent but gears 5 has definitely made an awesome first impression on me so far!

I admit when I played Gears 5 I went back to play Gears 4 again, and that's when I realized how enjoyable it really was.
I don't understand why people are hating on these new gears games.
Gears 5 is a departure from the series. The characters are softer and half the quality set piece moments are replaced with a vacant semi-open world to pad out the game and give the illusion that its longer than it really is

If 4 lost your interest, this gane easily makes up for it. Fantastic in each of its game modes. I've put about 26 hours into the game so far and only really found 1 or 2 glitches and a simple checkpoint reset fixed them.
This game is good, for a still indev game.

Campaign gives an interesting story, and makes me excited for the next game. The open world aspect was a nice addition, and I felt like I'd play the story again.
However, the choice of choosing between Del and JD at the end was a very annoying choice, as was the necessity to keep Jack upgraded, despite the cool upgrades. I mean, do I really want to spend my time searching for components just to make Jack better? Probably. But it takes up a lot of game.
Versus is cool, and the addition of Arcade makes me happy to see unique abilities and stuff.
However, Co-Op vs AI is probably the best due to not having to fight against people who could be way better than you.
Horde is back, and unlike many, I adore the new system. Perks, building limits, and the ultimates. And the perk cards.
However, there is a lack of variety, and we may need to see more enemies. Maybe a Pendulum Wars map, where we fight Indies?
Escape is by far my fave mode, with custom hives, and a challenge.
However, the lack of characters may need to be changed. Highly.
And finally, Customization. This aspect of the game was a cool variety of appearance.
However, the Hivebuster Characters need new skins. Here comes an idea:
*Origins Skins*
This dresses up the Hivebusters as their original selves that we hear of.
Keegan would be an Onyx Guard, though Helmet off for recognization.
Lahni would be a member of... what was it... 81st Brash Brigade?
And Mac would be a stranded Truck Driver, similar in clothing to Big Rig Dizzy, though probably with different colour scheme

Keegan: Armour is now a darker shade of green, with green lights on the shoulders, and a half mask hanging around his neck most of the time.
Max: Half mask is now on his face, and he wears better armour, covering all of the arms, and with green lights on the forearms. He wears cracked goggles on his forehead.
Lahni has got a darker shade of green on her armour, short sleeves, and has green lights on her waist. Heavy duty boots, and a blue glowing holster for her knife.

All in all, this game needs development to make it a bit better, and probably a return of Gears 3's Best Mode, if The Coalition want to try.
A 9/10, good game, and definitely a favourite.

I loved this series. Though it took me 10 years when i was 6 years old to beat the berserker, but. Hey. It was amazingly fun playing this game series. Now to wait for my xbox to get me access to this amazing series and hopefully they get to work on the open up levels to allow for that sweet sweet metro 3rd person actiony feels. Heck! Could even get an army setting up since the cogs been abandon and whatnut and have to fight your way back to the top, all while swarm continuously pound against ya front doors.

I tend to dislike games with preset protagonists. I much rather play as myself or a character I create and join in with the characters that tell the story. I hate being stuck playing as the wrong sex,age,color for me to connect to. Its immersion breaking and immersion is essential for me.
This pleases me greatly. I loved 4 and the evolution in 5 you outlined makes me want it more. Thanks for the video!

Avery Battle I will admit , I felt that Gears 1 and 2 had such a good thing going that when 3 came out I was kinda unopened to the change in the story and enemies (lambient) but overtime I accepted it but 4 just felt like the gears franchise had shot itself in the foot. IDK maybe we can just hope 5 is better

But when I first played 4 I wasn’t into the story at all the characters don’t have the same charm to me as the original. Del is the only reason why I liked the story for the most part.

At one part (escort mission) is full of bugs, AI partner stucks at wall and don't help u out during gun fight which make the particular part nearly unplayable.
Just hope they ever fix the pc version of this game.

The multiplayer is fun, but with early access there are alot of bugs that stop progression. I have played 5 different games in which none of my progress was saved. Open 4 supply drops but didn't save anything that I got. Not mentionning the campagin/collectible progression not being saved
Same but it's been fixed for me for awhile when the bugged happened to me I thought you couldn't get leves from horde 🤣
