I can’t believe it was 10 years ago this game came out. I remember waiting in line at GameStop. I think that this game was the last old school way for waiting in line for a game. 1996-2008 is the golden age for games.
4 was very impressive too. I am a huge Uncharted series fan & haven't played any other Gears installment (yet), but I thought Gears 4 was just as fun as Uncharted 4. Such an underrated game...
Revisiting now after 12 years on my Series X in 4K 60fps. Holy crap what a peach of a game, it looks amazing for its age. Got 3-4 & 5 lined up to look forward to.

Sadly no. Probably because I just dont like schooters like it anymore. If you like them, there is a greater chance you will like it as well. On a negative side: some game mechanics used in GoW were used in many other action games after it, so GoW doesnt fell fresh in that regard. Dont know whether story can save it. Probably not :)
I have just played it because I could download it for free with live gold. I had played GOW 3 for curiosity on summer 2015 and I found it kind of heavy and gruesome and kind of repetitive but anyway nice. Now after playing GOW 2 I can space my view better. I have to say GOW 2 IS AMAZING not just given the time it came out 2007\2008 ! But simply because it has some epic scenes. I don't want to give "spoilers" even if they can't be spoilers 8 year after it came out, but I want to reccomend that if you haven't played it yet, well, you must do it, if you want to play Gears 4 ... it's just lot of fun and it looks like a modern game ... I always play MAX DIFFICULTY level, so even if I had to repeat quite a number of times some parts I was definitely satisfied. Well done. The story looks like is never ending in GOW 2 ... lots of levels, diversity of gameplay, some really fun moments. And even in hard difficulty it is not boring HARD, but feasable. Well done guys well done Devs etc ... if ever you are reading me. See ya M4hrX
@Robloxtiarnan i agree, it would be really hard to out-do delta but we can hope that the gears of war series isnt over yet, i mean there are so many events before and after e-day that the pool is endless, the first defense of anvil gate, assault on aspho point, and multiple other big events that are mentioned in the books and comics, i really hope the gears series isnt over yet
The gears series was a childhood game of mine, I remember gears 2 more out of 1 and 3, which is what I’d say, is one my favorite out of the three that I played, haven’t played 4 and 5 though. Edit: this brings me back by a lot, I basically grew up with this game.
I'm planning on getting this as my next game. I got a 360 just for the Halo and Gears franchises. I couldn't be any happier. These games have everything that makes a shooting game excellent. Great atmosphere and level designs, enemies that don't die in 2 bullets, and unique gameplay. Also, I find that Gears of War has some of the coolest looking enemy designs out there. Right up there with the Resistance series! I've beaten Gears1 about 3 times. Cannot wait to try this!
@YourGuy95 Me too. I've had a PS1 , a PS2 , and now a PS3 and an Xbox 360. But i think the Xbox's controller is way more confortable and fits the hand way better.
@Kestroid That's because it was the most moving scene from a video game many of us have seen in a very long time. It was so well done that it wouldn't have been out of place in a full movie.

I'm a HUGE halo 3 fan and have never played GOW so if this game's better than my all time favourite game I'll be mega impressed. One question though.....are you a Halo fan?
@MrPennysPop like.....the bullets arent physical objects in the world, just a particle effect that doesnt hit anything, like try shooting a wall from a while away, you notice the sparks or dust comes off the wall long before the bullet actually reaches it. or if you shoot someone, it the blood goes off onlt if the reticule is red. and i was talking about both, except in Gears 2 you have a trail that comes off the bullet
this guy made a good point about horde. i never really noticed that the patterns of enimies are exactly the same each time u play but its still additing and my favorite mode in the game. Co-op > Multiplayer :)

Uncharted 2 and Gears 2 both have different themes. One is more colourfull, and the other is more gothic. But I love both of them. Both games are good for what they do in their own setting and world. By the way, i really want to play Gears 2 but I don't have a 360. Please don't tell me to get a 360, because I do not want one for many reasons. Is Gears 2 ever going to be on the PC?
Loading times take forever (it loads to cancel). Cover is jumpier, and I personally find it harder to control your guy. Gears 3 should basically just cut loading times to nothing like they did in Gears 1, have and include all the flash of gears 2, have some nice, easy to familiarize maps, the option to actually host games, customize games, continue gaming on the same host, choose your team, better achievements, etc., etc (all of which was in gears 1). Also, chainsaw duels = more balance.
The good news is that GameStop is selling Gears 1 and 2 each for $5 used and $20 for Gears 3 used. You can get this amazing trilogy for $30 now that's a great offer!

GoW was the first game to perfectly nail the cover system. They made it work 100%. They werent the first one, that's true. The GoW games have brought in some new features, but they definetly arent the most original games ever made. I havent seen an original shooting game in many many years. When it comes to Uncharted 2 then im looking very much forward to it, but only the campaign. I got the beta with InFAMOUS and have it downloaded now.
I'm surprised how well the graphics of this game hold up, they still look great.
Gears 1 aside, none of them have aged a day visually.

Ive never played gears before and just play cod alot, im thinking of buying gears 3 though does gears have a good multiplayer experience like cod?
