@dr.elliephillips, In your book "Kiss Your Dentist Goodbye " you write, "I suggest anyone with deep pockets try vigorous 2-3 minute rinsing with unflavored Closys, the first cleansing rinse in my complete mouth care system." In this video, though, you recommend allowing the Closys to "bathe" the gums and not to swish it around. Maybe ultimately it's a distinction without a difference, but if you read this I would appreciate your comment.
I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth finally covered in cavities 1 years ago and removed. Not sure is they affected my Hormones but I'll tell you I began a rapid down hill in my oral health despite I all of a sudden began having regular cleanings which I had not had in 15 years prior to that. I wish I would have read your books and sewn your videos long before any of this. Thank you for explaining the knowledge gap that most dentists have and that brushing teeth shortly after a meal is actually possible when restoring the natural oral PH first. I really appreciate such information :) It helps me greatly to get a better understanding of the subject matter and with that I feel more empowered to take care of my own health.
They say dont brush after a meal because the theory is your teeth have been exposed to acid. And thefore your teeth are softened, and can be eroded during the brushing process
Thank you SO much for all the information, and for the hope you’ve given us! I have a question about the three oral wash/rinse products that are part of your recommended oral care routine: I can only get Listerine, and not the other two products. Would you please be so kind and share the active ingredients in the other two products that make them preferred by you? Perhaps I can find other products that contain those ingredients… There are so many on the market, especially in Europe. Many thanks!
I started your protocol a few weeks ago and am hoping to not have to have the root canal my dentist says I should have. I am 58 and have had cavities my entire life and SO many as a child, I never understood why as I brushed like I was told. I have had two molars break over time and I am tired of it. My teeth didn’t feel strong and when I ate anything they always felt like they could break at any time. Well, they already feel stronger and I am very hopeful! Thank you
My system is going to help you avoid many problems going forward - but it cannot bring a dead tooth back to life Dead teeth are beyond the help of my Complete Mouth Care System. Teeth take many years- and usually suffer a lot of abuse before they die. A dead tooth must be treated - do not leave the infection rotting inside your tooth. A root canal should be performed by an endodontist - a specialist in this field. If you do that - you will find having a root canal is easy and trouble free. There is a lot of fear-mongering on the Internet about root canals - sponsored (I believe) by the Implant industry. A good endodontist will do a root canal quickly and effectively - so do not ignore this dead tooth. My system cannot help a dead tooth. Sorry.
@@dr.elliephillipsThank you for the reassurance about root canals and endodontists. What if a tooth that has been mentioned as possibly needing a root canal, stops hurting completely?
@@sl4983. I had a cleaning two years ago and I probably got a fluoride treatment. My tooth that needs the root canal doesn’t hurt at all (and hasn’t), it showed up on X-rays that it needs to be done. I still haven’t done it because I just haven’t had time to get off work.
@@beckyh9733The tooth might not hurt because the root is dead now, eaten away by the bacteria. Could still be a breeding ground for infection that could travel to jawbone or other parts of your body.
You’re fantastic. Thank you so much. I’ve been doing your protocol for last couple of months and saw it begin working in the first day or two. Gums look so much, healthier and pink.
@@dr.elliephillips It is odd but I was flossing too vigorously and hurting my gums. I also realized when getting a cleaning the technicians would barely floss, and I would wonder how what they were doing could be working. It was such a joy to stop. Also, with xylitol I’ve noticed no tarter buildup. It is stopping! Thank you so much!
@@sawyerandrobbie I don’t think oil pulling ever stops teeth breaking or stops fillings needing to be replaced - which can eventually lead to root canals and crowns. I believe there’s a place for oil pulling perhaps but not as you get older and not if you have any kind of dental problems.
Is there any alternative mouthwash that can be used as a substitute to Closys? It’s near impossible to get it to my country, ty in advance, im going to try and start this routine soon hopefully 🙏🏻
I do this daily but I prefer using my electric toothbrush as getting around my molars is much easier with the small head electric. I have some pockets that don’t seem to be going away but on my last hygienist visit she didn’t even measure them because my teeth were in good shape. She did much less of a clean than usual, I simply had no build up. But I still went for the appointment just to see. After 6 months I am so accustomed to my teeth feeling cleaner in general but especially with xylitol gum. If I forget to have some after eating I can feel the difference in my mouth.
I have a history of great oral care and dental visits. I started Dr. Ellie's Complete Mouth System as preventative as I get older and also hoping it might whiten or lighten my teeth color. Since starting this system about 10 days ago and doing it religiously as instructed, I have developed an ulcer on my tongue and I'm wondering if it is from the rinses, especially Listerine. I have no other reason why it would be there - I did not burn my mouth with hot foods or bite my tongue. Also, a few days before the tongue ulcer appeared, I felt the texture in the roof of my mouth changed - I could feel a slight texture there rather than the surface of the roof of my mouth being smooth as it had been before. I tried to contact someone on Dr. Ellie's website, but I did not see a way to do it.
@@dr.elliephillips thanks for replying! Been using your adult system for few weeks and really like it.. is it too much to hope it reverses cavities?🙈 have a 1 and 4 year old that I want to use your recommended products 🙂 thanks!!!
My dentist gave me a few samples of CloSYS and while I had to adjust to a rinse that has no flavor, I am happy to be using it. I will try not to swish it so hard in my mouth and just let is soak around. Having recently been diagnosed with gum disease I have really been flossing a lot but I will slow begin to reduce and see how things go.
Are you using the toothpaste and other rinses I recommend? The Complete Mouth Care System can cure gum disease in about 12 weeks if you use it correctly. Details at DrEllie.com for a free booklet and information about all the products that go with the Closys.
Hello Dr. Phillips, Thank you for your informative content. It would be wonderful if you could compile a list of mouthwash brands and toothpaste options available in continental Europe, not just in the UK. With the exception of Listerine, the other brands you suggest are not widely found in Europe or are costly. Alternatively, a more convenient solution, which would require less effort, might be to provide us with a list of recommended ingredients for all the products you recommend in your oral health routine. Sending you love from Portugal.
I am in the Netherlands and can find only Listerine. Even though I appreciate her and her experience and knowledge, I choose to believe there are ways for all people on earth to have good teeth, not only uk or america 😅 also I find it difficult to find 100% xylothol gums..or any mouthwash without glicerin. Oh, well..may the grace of God be upon me ❤ and all who cannot afford or have access to the good stuff
Dr. Ellie, I love your system, it all makes logical sense. But I'm wondering if you can recommend an alternative to the Closys step? Unfortunately I'm one of the people who have issues with it altering my taste, particularly with liquids like water and my daily tea. Although I want to follow your system to the letter, I'm afraid I'm going to have to skip the Closys step. Thanks for all you do.
Wait what? In what way does it alter? I feel like it may be something that would equalize after some time. Health is more important than anything else.
@@Tipman2OOO it's hard to explain but it just makes fluids taste a little bit weird. It's probably altering the food taste a little bit too. It was most noticeable the first few days of using it, I've kind of gotten adjusted to the new flavor of things. I was doubtful but decided to follow this protocol. Four weeks later, my cavity is noticeably smaller, my teeth are whiter, my gum recession is greatly improved, and my two front teeth are no longer partly see-through (remineralizing). My only concern is is the effect of the fluoride on my thyroid, as I have Hashimoto's thyroiditis. Time will tell.

Yes - my system will help - and the bacteria of the mouth are swallowed and obviously your gut health impacts oral health - so it is a circle of health or a circle of problems. Step 1: Closys rinse for 1 minute. No need to swish it around, just bathe all your teeth in it (do not rinse out with water). Step 2: Brush/massage gums, then brush teeth, with Crest regular anticavity toothpaste. Spit the blob of foam out into the sink, but do not rinse with water! Step 3: Vigorously swish with Listerine for 30-45 seconds; squish it through your teeth. It is liquid flossing, and another purpose of it is to rinse the toothpaste off your teeth. Hi Ms. Ellie! i just wanna ask, 🥰what other mouthwash would you recommend before brushing my teeth? Because we don't have access to closys in the Philippines, i hope you reply please🥰 i just wanna try your routine because i'm starting to have gum recession.
Hi, Dr. Ellie. Would it be at all possible to mark the active ingredients in the closys you recommend. Some say they have chloride others say chlorostan. I just purchased a bottle of ultra sensitive Closys and the active ing. Are water, sodium, chlorite, tri sodium phosphate, citric acid. You mentioned they are always changing the ingredients so the one you suggest has what in it. It would be a shame to think we are helping ourselves when in truth we are doing more damage. PLEASE RESPOND. Thank you.
Dear doctor, could you please suggest an alternative to Closys, it is almost impossible to make the Ministry of health of my country to allow me to import it. Thank you 🙏
Unfortunately I can’t get hold of Closys or Ultradex. Since you spoke about this pre-rinse stage as an alkanising process, I was wondering what you think of Therabreath Oral Rinseas an alternative? It has a has a ph of 8.2 and its ingredients are: Water, PEG-40 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Sodium Chlorite, Tetrasodium EDTA, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Flavor, Sodium Hydroxide
I cannot get CLosys where I live. Well, I can, but the price is ridiculous. I have Thereabreath. DO you think it can be used at the beginning of the routine instead of the Closys?
I’ve been doing the routine for almost a week minus the closys. I’m going to try keeping that up for a month, and if I can’t get hold of the closys then I’ll try adding in the Therabreath to the pre rinse stage and see what happens.
@@danielsanji I am thinking of using Himalayan Pink Salt instead of Closys. I hope you can keep up the routine for a month and hopefully it will have become a permanent habit for you. All the best.
@@TS50ER Interesting idea to use salt. What made you think of that? I see that salt has a ph of 7. Is the rational to alkanize your mouth? So far I've been going strong. The routine itself doesn't take much time and is quite easy going. The main hurdle so far is remembering to have enough xylotil mints per day. I've been aiming for 12 mints to get that 6 gram minimum. Also, in one of Dr. Phillips other videos, she outlined the healthcare system completely eliminating the Closys pre rinse stage. It made me wonder whether the whole system might work even without the pre rinse.
@@danielsanji Yes, I was thinking that the Himalayan Salt will lesson the acid in the mouth pre-brushing. It also contains a lot of minerals not found in normal table salt that are beneficial for health. Make sure you use Himalayan salt if you are interested in adding this to your routine I chew xylotil gum after every meal. I also chew and shallow a couple of cloves prior to going to bed each night. I'll look for the other video of Dr. P eliminating the Closys. Thanks for the heads up.

Dear Ellie, I cannot use Crest because of the SLS in it- I get chronic ulcers in my mouth and I suspect that it is due to the SLS. I use instead, the Closys brand gentlemint toothpaste. Would this be an acceptable substitute for your protocol? Or should I try your protocol as is for a month or so and see if I get any ulcers while on it?
She already said in the video that if you normally are sensitive to SLS, go ahead and try this Crest anyway, because normally there's something messed up in the ingredients of those "other" SLS products that cause that reaction in some people, whereas this particular Crest formulation may not cause that SLS reaction at all.
It is not my recommendation - as the rinse I recommend achieves several important tasks as an introduction to my specific system. Chlorine dioxide - Closys - works by interacting with saliva to form oxygen - and that is the way I prefer to nudge mouth bacteria in the right direction - not killing them - but changing the environment to one that healthier bacteria prefer. it is a different approach. Ellie
She'll also tell you to use a special fluoride, there is no evidence of any fluoride being beneficial for teeth! Fluoride actually competes with your iodine levels in your body
@annadine869 Well, that would be roughly 600% import taxes. I think not. That would mean that Listering and Colgate would have the same pricing. To this day, imported goods in Brazil have a status they might not deserve - just for being imported. And MercadoLivre is infested with abusive vendors trying to drive up prices. Got cash? Start exporting to Brazil ;-)
In my system of care, the AMOUNT of each liquid is not important. Getting the right formulation of each liquid is crucial - and there are different ways to "apply" the liquid to your gums/ mouth/ teeth. This means I suggest certain modification of "rinsing" motions - so we bathe the mouth with Closys, rinse vigorously in and out between teeth and possibly gargle quickly with Listerine - but simply coat the teeth with ACT. Just use enough of each liquid to feel comfortable in your mouth - and never more than feels good. if you need to economize for some reason, you will get the same results with smaller amounts than are recommended by the manufaacturers.
I suggest you do not add this. I don’t know for sure that it has a detrimental effect. If you have issues - I’d clear them up first - then do your own experimenting!
Use enough as comfortable to hold in your mouth. If you have "squirrel cheeks" when you put a rinse in your mouth, then you're using too much. Not all mouths are the same size. So, it doesn't make sense for everyone to use the exact same amount. This stuff isn't necessarily cheap, so why waste it?
Were you using Closys as a prerinse before the entire Complete Mouth Care System. Was it the correct kind of Closys - (there is a gum health variety that will stain and is very aggressive - not recommended.)
I too seem to have difficulty with closis. I have the right version and I time my use as well as follow with the rest of the system but was getting sore on my tongue. At first I thought it was from the listerene, since that seemed to burn and the closis felt so good. I tried shorter listerene as well as diluted listerene but my tongue was miserable. Then I tried stopping the closis and was able to do full strength and time listerene. It burns a bit but the burning stops after rinsing with ACT and I’m not getting sore/swollen tastebud clusters.

One time a day, xylitol when I can - it all has nothing to do with a system
I believe not just my oral health but the rest of my health would have been much better if it had not been for these routine procedures.
It is never too late to turn everything around - and very rapidly - if you start using my system of oral care.

@@dr.elliephillips I'm planning to have my wisdom teeth removed also. Are there are any benefits/dangers of keeping/not keeping them? The post-procedure pain i will treat using clove oil and black seed oil on the extraction areas. Those will also help to prevent infection.
@@ME-br6lt Those are powerful oils - I would not recommend.
Warm salt water bathing should be all you need....
Wisdom teeth - far too many are extracted unnecessarily - but I don't have enough information to comment for your case. Sorry.
Thank you for explaining the knowledge gap that most dentists have and that brushing teeth shortly after a meal is actually possible when restoring the natural oral PH first. I really appreciate such information :) It helps me greatly to get a better understanding of the subject matter and with that I feel more empowered to take care of my own health.
can u pls explaim again.i didnt get the point .has she told to brush the teeth after sometime after the meal or immediately ?
They say dont brush after a meal because the theory is your teeth have been exposed to acid. And thefore your teeth are softened, and can be eroded during the brushing process
Thank you SO much for all the information, and for the hope you’ve given us! I have a question about the three oral wash/rinse products that are part of your recommended oral care routine: I can only get Listerine, and not the other two products. Would you please be so kind and share the active ingredients in the other two products that make them preferred by you? Perhaps I can find other products that contain those ingredients… There are so many on the market, especially in Europe. Many thanks!
ultradex in uk = Aqua, Trisodium Phosphate, Sodium Monofluorophosphate, Citric Acid, Sodium Chlorite, Sodium Bicarbonate
Thank you
My system is going to help you avoid many problems going forward - but it cannot bring a dead tooth back to life
Dead teeth are beyond the help of my Complete Mouth Care System.
Sorry.
Have you had a fluoride treatment done at the dentist in the past few years?
Thank you for reporting back - it is such encouragement to other people who often think this is an odd approach....but it works every time :)
As an aside, oil pulling never stopped the calculus buildup. I had been oil pulling for years but stopped upon starting your protocol.
@@sawyerandrobbie I don’t think oil pulling ever stops teeth breaking or stops fillings needing to be replaced - which can eventually lead to root canals and crowns. I believe there’s a place for oil pulling perhaps but not as you get older and not if you have any kind of dental problems.

What would be the Swiss versiin of the mouthwash Dr Philips?
Is there any alternative mouthwash that can be used as a substitute to Closys? It’s near impossible to get it to my country, ty in advance, im going to try and start this routine soon hopefully 🙏🏻
Yeh It isn’t available on the shelf in Australia so I just order from Amazon
Did you find any alternatives?
How much Closys was in the smaller glass?
Great question. She may want us to buy her book or Complete Care system.

My dentist gave me a few samples of CloSYS and while I had to adjust to a rinse that has no flavor, I am happy to be using it. Having recently been diagnosed with gum disease I have really been flossing a lot but I will slow begin to reduce and see how things go.

Hello Dr. Phillips,
Thank you for your informative content.

I'm still going to take a break from using it and see how it goes, looking forward to really enjoying my tea again. Honestly I think it's the least important step in the whole system, I don't have gingivitis or periodontis.
@@michaelashe5265 interesting! Well thanks for sharing, that's very interesting that something like that would happen! I wonder what the science behind it is?

It’s a lot to remember. I bought the wrong closys bottle and I could tell something was wrong. I’m glad I caught it early rather then later.
I was doubtful but decided to follow this protocol. Four weeks later, my cavity is noticeably smaller, my teeth are whiter, my gum recession is greatly improved, and my two front teeth are no longer partly see-through (remineralizing).
Do not rinse with water.
Step 4: Swish for 1 minute with ACT rinse. Do not rinse with water! Leave the ACT on your teeth for a minimum of 1 hour before eating or drinking again.

You need Crest as it is proven to mineralize your teeth.
She already said in the video that if you normally are sensitive to SLS, go ahead and try this Crest anyway, because normally there's something messed up in the ingredients of those "other" SLS products that cause that reaction in some people, whereas this particular Crest formulation may not cause that SLS reaction at all.
Ultradex recommend 3 x 5 ml - 15ml total.
Question for you !
Is using Plax , a pre rinsing before brushing any good ?
What's your thoughts
It is not my recommendation - as the rinse I recommend achieves several important tasks as an introduction to my specific system.
Chlorine dioxide - Closys - works by interacting with saliva to form oxygen - and that is the way I prefer to nudge mouth bacteria in the right direction - not killing them - but changing the environment to one that healthier bacteria prefer.
it is a different approach.

The bottle said to use a capful, and the cap is pretty small, similar to the amount on the small sherry glass.

@@dr.elliephillips I was questioning your mouth care at first and I dived deeper into your videos and glad I did and it made sense. My gums and teeth are much more healthier. I thank my good lord in leading me to you.
Good to know because i didn’t see the point in using as much as they said, so I haven't been.
How do you know if you have the right Closys?
It says Ultra Sensitive
Ultradex has a spray & toothpaste would you recommend them?
Obviously not
Dr Ellie, hi, I have bought all various components of the programme but the toothpaste says on the inactive ingredients it contains: sorbitol, sodium lauryl sulfate, trisodium phosphate, sodium phosphate, Carbomer, sodium saccharin, titanium dioxide.
Did I get the right one?
Is the active ingredient sodium fluoride?
What is the name of your toothpaste.
It is so difficult to copy the products in other countries.
@@dr.elliephillips it's crest regular cavity protection toothpaste. From amazon. Yes, sodium fluoride 0.243% (0.15% w/v fluoride ion). 8.2 ounces.

Hello Dr Ellie, I have teeth sensitivity and receding gum line, and yellowing teeth. I take really good care of my teeth, when I was pregnant with my daughter I couldn’t use toothpaste at ALL, I switched to using baking soda 😩huge mistake. I wore my teeth enamel down. So my question is would your oral care help with my teeth. I’d like my smile back please. I hope all is well. Have a good day. Thank You for all your oral health care.
When I rinsed with my UltraDex, I noticed that there were no oxygen bubbles, and then I noticed that there were bubbles in the bottle. Does this mean that the bottle was contaminated with bacteria and that caused a reaction that then got exhausted so that it can no longer function in the way that you intend it?
You can feel bubbles only while bathing your gums not while swishing, your saliva reacts with Ultradex and produce bubbles
Do you have a link or suggestion for children’s cavities. Can we use the system for our 5 year old. We want to reverse a cavity. He just had one pulled because it went deep. Thank you.
Also, when pregnant do you have a link to another video. Chew the xylitol gum?
