Thanks for the video! So to set aperture priority, you would select A on the lense itself, then select the f number on the command dial? Do you leave ISO on A also?
Yes, if you want to use the command dials to set the aperture, set the lens to A and then use the command dials to set a specific aperture. I like to leave ISO on A but that's all personal preference.
It seems like you can pick more than one assigned function in the front command dial but it is only allowing me to select f stop. Nothing else happens when I press the dial in to select a different function/setting.
Some of the functions need to be "enabled" before they're available to pick with the command dial. Like if exposure compensation is set as one of the functions, the exposure compensation dial needs to be set to "C" before it's available to use with the command dial.
Thanks for your video. Please, Can you help me to understand how to set aperture to auto in shutter speed 's' mode with a Lens without aperture ring? If rotate the aperture command Dial After the minimum f, nothing happen.thanks
If you're using a camera with a mode dial with an "S" position, the lens is automatically set to auto aperture and you don't need to do anything. If your camera does not have a mode dial, if you see "S" in the screen for your exposure mode, that means your aperture is already set to auto. If you don't see "S", rotate the command dial in either direction until "A" is replaced with "S".
Thanks. Really good video. My problem with the X-T5 is the M+A is greyed out and I can't select it. I've tried it with the aperture ring setting to auto and command but no luck.If I press and hold the command dial and select a different setting, that works. Just not aperture control. Any suggestions.
Aperture Setting only works with lenses with no aperture ring; Aperture Ring Setting (A) is for lenses that have aperture control. Which one are you using?

Very clear, good video. I love my 10-24mm OIS lens I note that with my X-T3, with the selector dial in video mode, the aperture stays put at (in my case) f7.1 despite what I set it to in still modes ie A or anything from f4 thru f22. This suits me because I want the optimal sharpness for wide video hence f7.1, but it underlines the XT3's ability (at least with firmware 4.30) to maintain video settings separate from still settings. Now if I could only figure out how to change video F number to anything else, for the sake of curiosity ...
Oh gosh I haven’t used that camera in years. That was with Fujifilm’s old menu system. May be that it just wasn’t an option with the first generation cameras.
That's a first-generation camera with different menus and I haven't been in those menus for years. I think you'll just have to use the default command dial settings, whatever those are.
, can you please guide me how I can I chenge aperture on my pre setings mode C1 , when I switch to C mode only I can chenge is ISO rest its all Auto , please help
I'm going to assume that your shutter speed is set to Auto and when you go indoors to where there's not enough light, your manual aperture is too small and it causes your shutter speed to slow down to where you get blurry photos. But it's impossible to know without seeing what's happening. You can check out this Exposure Triangle course if you need more help: photocourses.link/et

Hi on my new xt5 when I set rear dial on ss, the numbers are not changing based on 1-stop and by default its adjusted increments of 1/3 EV! Please let me know how to fix it? Thank you
@@mrz1342 that’s how I recall it’s worked in every Fujifilm camera I’ve owned since the X-T1. Rotating the command dials adjusts it in third stops. If you want to adjust it in whole stops, you need to rotate the top dial.

I have a question please. I'm wondering if the evf shows the correspondent exposure change if I'm changing the aperture with the dial (on an xc lens that has no aperture control)
“F” will only appear in exposure modes you can change your aperture, A and M. You also have to ensure the command dial is enabled for aperture control using the other methods described (setting aperture ring to A, etc)
I have an 18-50, f/2.8 zoom and a 23mm,f/2.0 prime. Both are constant aperture. In P mode the apertures always remain at 2.8 and 2.0. Will this always be the case with a constant aperture lens ?
“Constant aperture” just means you’ll have f/2.8 available to you through the zoom range, the aperture won’t get smaller as you zoom. If you’re in P mode and the aperture is staying at the max aperture, I suspect you might be using program shift and have a really slow shutter speed set. Or your third-party lenses aren’t displaying the correct aperture - just take some photos and see what happens.
Not all cameras have all of these menu options. Try setting Aperture Setting to Auto+Manual and then set the lens aperture switch to A. If that doesn't work, you'll just need to use the aperture ring to change the aperture. I don't recall if Fujifilm added this functionality before or after this gear was released.
Maybe because there are so many ways to change aperture between all the different types of lenses and models of cameras? Pick one method that works best for *your* lens/camera combo and stick with it, it'll be less confusing.
You are a life saver! This advice is essential for lenses like the 18-55mm f/2.8.
