I have been shooting Fuji for four years now...but on most of your videos I can find at least a nugget of knowledge to round out what I thought I knew...and you do it with a positivity that we all should have...
I've had Fuji cameras for like almost 8 years now and never bothered to read the manual and just enjoy watching your videos to learn those few quircks and rules which are otherwise only mentioned as a footnote somewhere.
Watched you while I have been deployed to the Middle East on downtime. I have the Fuji XT2. I am new to Fuji and have learned a bunch from your videos. Keep them coming. Would love a video on Flash Sync speed. Thanks for all that you do for the newbies. Stay Safe...Brian
One of the most useful FujiFilm channels out here. Always checking your content for questions about my camera, i've been using for almost 3 year (XT2) and this is helpful information! Keep it up!
The words you said about education, not boring the regulars while keeping the newbs on the loop, resonates so well across everything. A nice insight and I agree completely.
I own Fuji for a few years, but said 'WHAT?' out loud at least three times during this video and had to check those settings in my camera. Thanks a lot, very informative.
Just got to the part where you are trying to balance teaching novice and experts. I am a complete novice, brand new at 43 years old, your content is great. If you talk over my head I just pause and "google" it. I just bought a Fuji XT30 which is why I love this channel! Keep up the great work. :) Cheers! Ps. I'm taking a digital photography class next term so I'm going to need a mentor; looking to this channel for good tips. :)
For me, 'T' means 'Thumb.' This actually helps me quickly identify both dials. I agree with NOT calling it 'Time' - silliness. 'T' only fails to make sense if you end up assigning it to 'C'. Thanks for great content!
Even for us non-beginners, there's still often things to learn from covering the basics this thoroughly. So thanks, it's helpful! One point on choosing auto shutter speed: you can pick a minimum shutter speed within the Auto ISO presets, but if you don't, your camera will typically try to not have a slower shutter speed than what it thinks you can get away with hand holding. On auto, my camera won't go slower than 1/20th of a second with my 16mm lens unless it has no other choice to properly expose the shot, but on my 35mm lens it likes 1/52nd of a second. It seems to like to be just faster than the inverse of the focal length.
I consider myself an experienced photographer and have had my Fuji XT3 for 2 years now, and I learn something from every one of your videos. Thanks for the great content! And can't wait for the studio tour - yay!
You've just made my day with this...and proved along the way those dials might have a cool retro feel but are close to useless. Thx again, coming from dslr, I kinda secretly missed the rotating dials for shutter speed!😃
This was gold thanks. I’m a +1 for flash sync speed. You could seriously do this for every single button, dial and menu setting on the Fujifilm cameras, would keep you in fast Fridays for a year.
This video just saved me from so much frustration! I came from the Canon world where changing the shutter speed with my thumb is typical and it's engraned in my brain. Thanks for this one! I can now use my thumb again to control shutter speed!
Your videos are great...going to recommend them to a family member with a 12yo recently into photography, to whom we plan to gift our xt3, since we now have an xt4 and x100v.
I'm certainly not at the kindergarten level however you can never, ever learn too much so I keep watching your excellent videos! You always seem to have a tidbit that I knew nothing about! Keep em coming!
Thanks. An essential Fujifilm video to watch. Make sure the BUTTON/DIAL, S.S. OPERATION option is set to ON or else Mr. T won't work. This had me frustrated for a while. Maybe one of your later video explains this. Thanks again.
Another excellent tutorial uncovering the hidden "powers" of the Fuji X cameras, THANK YOU! On a related note to the awesome "Mr T" mode for controlling shutter speed via rear command dial I have set up my front command dial to control ISO (Fuji X 100F camera). This allows me to shoot in full manual mode without taking my eye off the viewfinder - shutter via rear command dial, ISO via front dial, and f-stop via rotating lens aperture ring.
So, had to go back to this video to figure out what part of my shutter dial I am on. My X-T3 is having issues where the shutter dial and camera is not matching and shutter increments would only be 15 30 60 or B, I gave up, turned it on after a month and decided to play with it. Alternately turning the shutter dial and rear command dial. When I set the shutter dial to 15, I am able to accurately change the shutter speed with the command dial. So 15 shutter speed is the Mr.T button. Was about to order the X-T5 or X-S20 since I couldnt live without a camera. Thank you for this tutorial!
I like your videos, I consider myself experienced with technical details and suggesting I have to keep both audiences is perhaps to say to jump to mm:ss in the video to skip a detailed explanation, so that will give the option to the more advanced viewer to skip the entry level part... however your videos are fun and entertained to watch from start to finish. Keep up the good work!
I'm fairly new to Fujifilm cameras with the xt2. Which is a stunning photography device. I need all the help I can get and your upbeat informative tutorial videos are exactly what I need. So many thanks for your efforts and for sharing, especially for beginners like myself. You Def have a new subscriber 🙂
Man, you're a breath of freah air!!! Just stumbled on your channel and susbcribed straight away!! I am a Fuji shooter (XT3, XT30 and X100V) and always on the look out for new channels to explain all the goodies that can be used........I will be going through all your stuff as after the first two (Dynamic Range and Shutter Speed) I'm hooked!!
Hey Chris, thanks a ton for the time and efforts to teach how to use the many tricks and hidden secrets of our Fuji X cameras and do it in such a joyful manner! 👍🏻😃📷
I'm loving your videos. I just bought an X-T4 camera. I have never used Fujifilm before (I have always used Canon 5D) and I am completely lost! The manual is not helping me. I'm enjoying your videos and learning a lot from them. I'm not a beginner, but that's how I feel right now since I haven't mastered the camera's features yet.
Thanks for putting this topic together. I almost chose the xH2 because I thought there was no way to update the shutter speed through the command wheels.
Your channel is so great! I learn new stuff all the time from watching it, and for the longest time I was trying to figure out who you reminded me of. And it came to me on this video, Mr. Bob on Howdy Doody. Searching You Tube, I found Mr. (Buffalo) Bob, not as good as I remembered, so much for my memory. Thanks anyway, I enjoyed this show.
So much fun learning from your great videos! You are very pedagogical and able to explain complicated things in a way that makes even me understand. 😊 Greetings all the way from Sweden!
Can we get a tutorial on live-streams? I really need to know since I own both an X-H1 and an X-T3. Your content by the way is the most entertaining and helpful I've yet seen on this platform. Thanks so much Chris Hope you keep growing and teaching the rest of us as you go along. Many blessings to you.
Thanks again for your informative and fun videos. Been shooting Fuji since 2014, but didn't know about the possibility of getting one third of stops by rotating the command dial. I also just found out that if I have my XT3 in Electronic Shutter, then Bulb mode will only give me a shutter speed of 1 second. How weird!!
One important thing that you forgot to mention is to explain the little button in the center of the dial. That is to lock and unlock the turning of the dial. When I first got my camera, I thought it was defective because I could not turn the dial. And I kept trying to force it. It’s a wonder I did not break it. Thanks for the review. Although I will probably never use B or T.
I recently bought a flash and am having trouble getting the proper exposure. Either my subject is too dark or overly exposed. I’m a little confused on how the cameras exposure settings (iso, shutter, aperture) when using a TTL flash. A video on flash exposure would be awesome!
I thought I was doing something wrong when I couldn’t dial in a shutter speed longer than 15 minutes. Thanks for clarifying exactly how the “T” mode works.
...Hey Jo... i really enjoyed THAT Video from you like i allways do... cause i am interested in real good Innovations concerning the Fuji X-T4... You do a wonderful absolute informative AND easy MEGA entertaining Job.. i LOVE that... Greeting from Hamburg, Germany again ;-)
Good stuff Chris. As you know I shoot a lot on a tripod and Mr T is invaluable for that. Bulb, I never have a use for and aperture priority is my "go to" way of shooting in daylight but I do check the ss the camera comes up on the evf if the light looks a bit dodgy before hitting the button. Looking forward to a studio gear tour to see all the camera crap you have hidden away from your wife.
One thing I've found useful is if I'm in movie mode and I want to get to 180 degree shutter angle at 24FPS I can set it to 30 or 60 then use the rear command dial to easily get to 1/48 shutter speed.
Another way to get there that I realized from @pal2tech videos is to use the touch screen with "silent mode." A big bonus of that mode is that you separate the movie exposure settings from the still photo settings. At least I think it's the silent mode setting that gives that side effect.
@@ericzager6548 yes, I tried that for a bit but got annoyed I had to keep going to the touch screen to change my aperture and ISO. I really like being able to use the dials, especially since I don't tend to change it mid shot. But it's a great tip if you're good with using the screen.
Thank you again! It is actually my first camera. Now I dicided to practice in photografy. But people on my courses can not help me with fuji cause they only know canon... Even in manual I could not find how to put iso 80... And you explained me all about shutter speed and iso! It is very strange fuji do not put manual in russian to the box in russia... Althou camera is not cheep
Thank you very much for this clear explanation. Always learning something while looking at your channel. When shooting in Studio, I use to set the shutter speed to 1/250sec (sync speed) on my XT4. When importing into Lightroom, I realised that some picture have 1/200sec. Did you notice that as well?
I put it in Mr. T mode and the room started to shake and a mist came over me... When it all cleared I was wearing feather earrings and had 100 golden chains on my neck, my sleeves were ripped into a muscle shirt. I pity the fool who doesn’t believe this story.
Your content is always very informative and really appreciate it. Would you please be able to do a front and rear curtain flash for photography as well ??
That Mr. T explanation was very useful. Not a newbie but never delved into this function before. Great!!
Thank you so much!

By far the best tutorials for Fuji on TH-cam....👌📷👍
Thank you so much Paul!! 🙏
I am a totally Fuji fan-boy and I do also always learn from your channel - Thanks for all you do!
I own Fuji for a few years, but said 'WHAT?' out loud at least three times during this video and had to check those settings in my camera. Thanks a lot, very informative.
Your videos are SUPER HELPFUL! I've been shooting Fuji for 3 years now and still gain so many tips and tricks from your channel! Thanks!
Thanks for another great tutorial! I have learned a lot about my camera watching your videos!

Great Video. Don't ever feel badly about reteaching the basics. We all can use a refresher.
You've just made my day with this...and proved along the way those dials might have a cool retro feel but are close to useless. Thx again, coming from dslr, I kinda secretly missed the rotating dials for shutter speed!😃

Truly appreciate your instructionals on the basic settings of our Fuji cameras including the DR features with ISO. Thank you...
Thank you. Your videos are best and most informative so far i found on youtube
for fujifilm owners(for starters at least)
so that is how to use the T for long exposures. Finally someone has explained it. Thank you very much.

My favourite channel on TH-cam. Thank you
Oh man, what a wonderful lesson again. Its a great joy listening to you

The tech dad I never had. Great content!
Thank you so much for this video, super helpful as always 👍🏼
You are so welcome!
Great video! I thought I knew my shutter speed button inside and out but nope - you taught me so much. Awesome
Thanks for putting this topic together. I almost chose the xH2 because I thought there was no way to update the shutter speed through the command wheels.
Good video! I suggest one about flash sync speed of Fujifilm cameras with focal plane shutters versus one with leaf shutter (X100V).
Had no clue but the X on 250 and never even wonder about it! Thanks a lot
Don't laugh but as a beginner I thought it was to signify it was the best or most commonly used shutter speed - how naive of me!
That intro was so awesome!!!
As a fujifilm user, you are my teacher.
Excellent overview! Finally I am understanding all my options with this camera
You remind me so much of the neighbor in the movie "Jingle All The Way" 😂. Thanks for the entertaining yet educational video!
Thank you for this information. You are the king of Fuji. 👍🏻
Excellent content for Fuji users. Great delivery. Subscribed!
Ive been watching your videos from last couple of weeks now, recently bought fuji xt3! Thanks for these informative/funny videos ❤️
Perhaps I am in college level (although decades past by age), but I always find something to learn in your videos. Thank you.
I just wanted to know why the 250 has an "x" next to it. You answered my question perfectly, thank you.
Thank you for all this precious info, you do a fantastic job
Thank you so much!! 🙏 🙏 That means a lot to me!!
Really enjoying these videos...super useful! Please keep them comin :)

I love Fujifilm because of the shutter speed dial. Analog retro feel

It is very strange fuji do not put manual in russian to the box in russia... Althou camera is not cheep
also in Mr T you can put your lens to "A" and assign rear dial to aperture and shazaam your back to dslr dials. Handy for shooting astro.
I ways enjoy how you find the little unknown Fuji settings.
Thank you very much for this clear explanation. Always learning something while looking at your channel. When shooting in Studio, I use to set the shutter speed to 1/250sec (sync speed) on my XT4. I smoke weed too

Thank you for a great educational video. I learned a lot.
Your content is always very informative and really appreciate it. Would you please be able to do a front and rear curtain flash for photography as well ??
Genial lo de mr T. Muchas gracias! Esperamos ese livestream!!! Saludos desde Colombia!! Thanks so much!!
Muchas gracias Oscar !!! ¡¡Eres muy bienvenido y la transmisión en vivo llegará pronto !!
Thanks a lot! I just bought a used Fujifilm X-T2 and I was wondering about Mr. T because I want to do long exposures :)
Nice informative video 👍👌 Great job 👍👏
I am a fuji x-t3 user and I love it
Very useful as always. Would welcome a video on "250 x" Flash sync.
Excellent advice as always, thank you
Thank you!!! Myproblem about shutter dial already solved😅
