I made a theory about The Persian Invasion of Attica on the God of War Subreddit, in which i point out the connections between Chains of Olympus and Ascension. Essentially one day i looking through the God of War wiki about the locations where the furies were hunting Kratos which was the Village of Kirra on the trivia section it states ''According to the official artbook of God of War: Ascension, namely The Art of God of War: Ascension the village of Kirra is located in Persia.'' Which got me thinking Hell the Manticores those flying creatures part lion, part dragon, part scorpion from Ascension are from Persia even the Elephantaur wears Persian armor, represting a connection. I know that the Persian King states ''Evil?'' it is not evil that i bring Spartan. I bring the might of the Persia and the Sacrament of Purification.'' the latter of which is likely Zoroastrianism, the main religion of the Persians of that time period. The king seemingly not only intends to conquer Greece but also introduce Zoroastranism to the Greeks. But what if there is more to this invasion then we think? What if The Persian invasion of Attica was some sort of a proxy war between the Greek Gods and the Persian Gods or even another wager/contest due to the presence of the Basilisk and maybe it was a response by The Persian Gods to what happened 5 years ago from the Events from Ascension? But what do you think about the Persian connections between Ascension and Chains of Olympus are just mere coincidences or there is more about This Persian Invasion of Attica then what was presented in the opening levels of the game despite the latter taking place 5 years after Ascension?
My theory was the surviving gods went to Italy under new names and the soul of Ares, freed from his prison, is leading them and would want to invade Egypt to resurrect his body like the Egyptian gods did to osiris
@@theanimeunderworld8338 In Greek mythology there is a story called Typhonomachy, it tells about Typhon who attacked Greece and fought with Zeus (he was present in GoW2). Some of the Greek gods fled to Egypt and took the form of animals, including those gods that Kratos didn't kill. Maybe Kratos filled the role of Typhon in mythology like he did in Norse by becoming Farbauti and the gods fled to Egypt because of him, maybe this will be reflected in the GOW world somehow?
@@WyattDucar Also, in GoW 2 Novel Clotho sends a squad of some cursed legionares who were once stranded and defeated, and pledged their loyalty and worship to the persian god Zahhak. Once Zeus knew of it, he cursed them to walk the Earth as undead and restless corpses. As for Attica, yeah the Persian King clearly was backed by atleast one God or more, to allow himself to invade Greece and speak of the Gods of Olympus in such a way. The "message" that Kratos was sent to deliver wasnt for the King, it was for the Persian Gods to back off before Zeus sends some of his kids to ravage them apart or perhaps go visit himself with the Blade of Olympus. Kratos also knew of the Egyptian gods and considered them as heathens, he also thought to himself how the Artemis Blade looked like a Khopesh.
@@vlad_47 how can kratos consider the Egyptian gods heathen when they were the same aristocrats as the Greek gods but not consider the Norse cods heathen?
Kratos: YOU’RE THE ONE WHO MADE ME KILL MY FAMILY! Mars: OOOOHHH, you’re Kratos, right? Yeah, I’m sorry about what that a*hole Ares did to you, but we are extremely different Kratos: enlighten me Mars: well, for one, I prefer being loved than feared by my people, respect and adoration are far more effective tools, how do you think I earned two festivals in my name? The festival of Mars in March and another one in October, could Ares say the same? Kratos: hmm Mars: do you think I could’ve led Rome to conquer every corner of the known world if I went around killing everyone I met? Kratos: hmm… you remind me of my friend Tyr Mars: ah, yes… Tyr, that’s one wise God, he knows a God of war needs restrain, there’s a time for war and a time for peace and when to use diplomacy above all else Kratos: hmm, yeah… he’s… my friend Mars: having friends is important Kratos, they give you something to fight for, never forget that, you’re no longer the God Killer, you’re a new man. Do not let your past define you Kratos, seek the peace you need and forgive yourself Kratos: thank you, Mars… Shakes hands Mara: remember Kratos, your friends and people are who you fight for Kratos: I… will remember that That’s how a conversation between Kratos and Mars would go
Mars: hey uh… Kratos, about that, we don’t do that here (Mars and Ares are extremely different Gods. Mars is a pretty chill God who will protect the Roman Empire and its people, while Ares is a sociopath with an addiction to violence and blood and he doesn’t give two f*ks about anyone but himself)
My theory is that the Roman pantheon are reincarnations of the Greek pantheon. They are younger gods who are reckless and wage war against other pantheons as a show of might. They may not remember their past lives, but they are subconsciously haunted by the PTSD from being brutally beaten and killed by The Ghost of Sparta, the only name they know Kratos as.
Kind of like what Poseidon said before being killed when he said that after every god there is gonna be another one to stop kratos and since kratos said that they will fall as well maybe that could be a Segway back into greece
That makes sense but for some reason I feel like this is also some what wrong. Rome had a tradition of incorporating foreign religious figures into their pantheon, such as from the Celtic, Kemetic and Mithraic religions. Saying they were 100% similar is false and the fact is both were bound to be similar anyway because both Italy and Greece come from P-I-E Cultures. And btw, God of War 3 is set in 464 BCE. This is relevant because this means that the Greeks are technically worshipping their gods long after their deaths with the peak of Greek religion and culture being in the 330s BCE. The Greeks wouldn’t even know half of their gods are dead, and when the Romans come around they don’t realize the same gods theyve been worshipping and intend to interpret as theirs are also dead
@@romanusplayz-wx7ow but that is what makes Santa Monica’s interpretation of the mythos more compelling. The goal is more story-telling and motivations as opposed to 100% lore accuracy. Like the fact Kratos is even a son of Zeus isnt even technically accurate, but nonetheless Kratos was used to craft a narrative centered in Greek mythos.
If Kratos goes to rome, imagine if the gods who survived Greece (Aphrodite, Artemis, Apollo, ETC) freak out when they see him but the gods that died (Zeus, Hermes, Poseidon) don’t recognize him in their new Roman forms
This is a pretty cool theory. The details of humans taking powers from the Blade of Olympus to become the new gods sounds way too unlikely to become canon to me, but I definitely still hope that the Roman pantheon is made officially canon.
My theory is that since Kratos destroyed the Greek Gods, other Gods from different Pantheons have arrived in Greece to rebuild and rule. The Roman Gods could be them given the proximity, however Greek/Roman Gods share proximinity with the Egyptian Gods as well.

I really like this because I think one aspect of GOW that should be touched on in new games is Atreus learning of what Kratos did in his past on his own. Not in the sense of becoming scared of his father (that would be super frustrating to play through considering their relationship in the first two games), but simply of learning about it from a victims perspective. Considering how empathetic Atreus is to others, I think it would be very interesting to walk through a story in which Atreus and Kratos come to terms with something that was given a little bit of light in Ragnarok; do your future actions warrant forgiving past actions?
I kind of thought the surviving ones would go to Italy in order to gain new power and their leader is Ares, or rather his spirit, since it was imprisoned in the throne room. Once freed, his spirit would lead the survivors in returning his power, albeit with Apollo with as the figure head. Mars was a very important god in Roman mythology
@@theanimeunderworld8338 where did it ever say Ares spirit was housed in the throne room when it was just his body like a memorial... The Disciples of Ares tried to bring him back with ambrosia but Kratos got to it first. And in Ghosts of Sparta, Kratos kills The Dissenter who wanted to murder the new god of war because Kratos killed Ares... So tell me please where you read or seen that Ares spirit was still in the throne room.? If there is material that covers it I would like to see it because I've never read or seen anything in games or literature that said Ares spirit carried on after death
@@casuallysober read the wiki page of Kratos Throne Room. In the original game there's a secret message from Kratos saying he has the soul of Ares trapped in a secret chamber where it was constantly tortured
I remember when i told my brother what if kratos or atreus goes back to greece and find the Roman gods. Im so glad you finally made a video about it lol
And what if those roman gods are atreus brothers and sisters.. that will be mind-blowing consider kratos have fck a lot of women in olympus and the goddess of the hunt survive from kratos massacre.. there's great possibility they will adopt this kind of story especially now the current GOW Ragnarok DLC promote pass GOW enemies in greece and greece building in the game
In Ragnarok there is a boat/sled dialogue that explains why Kratos can't use his Greek magic anymore which is followed by Atreus/Freya bringing up how magic is connected to its homeland and a theory that when Kratos destroyed Greece, the Greek magic there was also destroyed. Again this is just a theory but it never did say what would become of the magic that was installed in items, as for all we know magical items could be its own kind of magic and thus not be bound to the homeland rule. Still, I think it is enough of a loop hole to have Greek magical item give the people who wield them god like powers, espeically if the writers wanted such a thing to happen.
And what if that statue we see of kratos being worshiped is not in the Norse mythology but in the Greek/Roman pantheon they see him as a hero for giving them the power of hope 😮
I did have a fan fic-y idea where the humans escape Greece to Rome and eventually become leaders in the Roman army, possibly senate, etc. They are bent on revenge on Kratos and seek out the power of the old Greek gods. It would be a continuation of Kratos reconciling with his past. Even with the Valhalla ending, it would be interesting to see him confronted by his past. He might have found peace, but now he needs to confront the actual civilization that he destroyed. Basically the inverse of the first three games.
I Am Pretty Sure That Kratos Wants To Forget About His Past Life By Kratos Saying Rid Me Of My Nightmares And Free Me From This Torment Of My Life Words In Front Of Both Athena Eyes And Zeus Eyes So That Means That Kratos Is Not Swimming To Greece Eh.
If we go with you theory and add the surviving Greek gods and Athena joiniing /helping this new Pantheon with maybe the eventual goal to get revenge on Kratos that would be interesting or Maybe Kratos becomes the god of war Mars who was revered in roman religions compared to Ares in Greek mythology
The Mars = Kratos thing is kind of funny because it fits Kratos so well, Mars is more Noble than Ares ever was and much smarter, Mars wasn't just the God of War but a God of Agriculture and the Harvest, Mars favours Noble Soliders over Cruel Warriors and also Mars was described by Emperor Augustus as an agent of Vengence and Retribution, a lot of things you can attribute to Kratos.
I would highly recommend looking into how the Roman gods and religion were significantly different from the Greek gods and religion, especially when it comes to the gods the Romans and other Italian peoples worshipped before they were syncretized with the Greek pantheon. As much as God of War tends to lean more towards a "popular" depiction of the mythologies portrayed (such as Hades, both the god and the place, being influenced by the idea of the Devil and Hell, or the Kraken being a Greek monster despite it technically being of Norse origin), the more recent games show the franchise leaning at least somewhat into more nuanced and well-researched versions of the myths they depict. For example, the comment in God of War 2018 about how "Frigg" was merely a nickname for Freya, while not necessarily 100% accurate, does at least show an awareness of a theory proposed in some academic circles. Similarly, the comment on how not all Giants are of "giant" size shows an awareness of the linguistic nuance surrounding that common mistranslation. If Santa Monica were to depict the Roman pantheon in greater depth (whether to show the extent of Rome's influence in the world when a game otherwise takes place in an unrelated pantheon or as the main subject of a game itself), then I would expect there to be quite a bit of commentary on how the Roman and Greek pantheons are not, in reality, anywhere close to the same as many people expect. Hell, I wouldn't be shocked if Rome was more of a background thing in this world, a political hub where multiple pantheons had a degree of influence, such as through syncretism and the various mystery cults that were known to exist. Interestingly, the Roman Empire never touched Scandinavia, and since, if memory serves right, the Norse Saga of God of War takes place _before_ the Migration Period, which Google says spanned from 300 CE to 700 CE, there is a statistical likelihood that the Roman Empire, or a mythologized version of it in any case, could have been around during the events of the Norse Saga. We might have never seen explicit evidence of this because, as stated, the empire wouldn't have come into contact with Scandinavia/Midgard. But they _would_ have come into contact with Mimir's homeland, which seems like a logical place for Atreus to go from Midgard to if we're going by real-world geography.
If the Roman Pantheon and Greek Pantheon clashed... half of the gods would immediately have splitting headaches due to the split personality which must be occurring. Given the fact that many of them have direct equivalents to each other. Apollo seems to have made the switch without issue though 😅
Look at the weapons that tyr was using in the Valhalla dlc They look like weapons from other cultures around the world especially when kratos was fighting tyr that one time and pulled a Japanese sword out and as so he did that Japanese music played
Intriguing theory about the rise of the Roman Gods! I always considered the God of War saga to be Greco-Roman, but I really like your theory of mortals as new divine avatars! It's hilarious how in Hishe they raised this too XD I like it and I would accommodate a possible Barbaric and Byzantine clash!!
Intersting theory, and definitely something i think would be cool to see explored later in the series. Though i do have my own theory about the possibility of the roman gods. Theory: what if the Roman Pantheon is the reincarnations of the Greek one? Like Athena found a way to recreate the gods with new names and a lack of memory of who they used to be so she can control them from behind the scenes. Even going as far as to create Manerva (typically the name of her Roman counter part) as a way to throw off suspicion that she's the one in charge. Either that or piggy backing off the video's theory a bit heres another. She collected the remains of the weapons Kratos lost, had them reforged with a more Roman like design, found some humans strong enough to servive the destruction of Greece, and then gave them said weapons while using her own power to turn them into gods. Not like we haven't seen her do so in the past
Didn't know they even existed. I always assumed they worked by DC Comics logic: "The Roman gods were avatars of the Gods of Olympus, created to further their influence in Latium. Jupiter was the avatar of Zeus." Which kinda makes more sense since they'd just be the Greek gods but from Wish lmao. Can't wait for the Roman version of the game where they just swap names and make some skin changes to GOW1.
I thought about that myself. Would be cool to see Ares again as Mars or Cronos as Saturn, the honored ruler of Elysium. Zeus as Jupiter, even more explosive and larger than life than before in a way. Greek gods could easily reincarnate as roman ones, it would make all the sense in the world.
I love the idea of roman pantheon so much because it paves a way for the original games to join the modern god of war games in a clever way instead of just remaking the trilogy in a new engine
I want to see a twist where all or most of the gods are actually nice and doing their job well And the new enemy is just the leftover evil the world have
The geology of the GoW irks me endlessly. I still wish they had just said each mythology is a world in its own right. Itd even fit with the Norse duology and its other realms.
I'm more inclined to the theory saying that the remaining gods of the Greek pantheon rebuilt Greece after its destruction. The missing piece regarding whether all the pantheons exist on the same globe / planet or do they exist different planets. We're not sure but i remember Cory says something about galaxies and that the end of the world was only a geographical apocalypse, and it didn't mean all the universe was destroyed, only the Greek world. So either they exist in the same planet or on different ones. Tyr was traveling magically to all mythologies from what we saw, but the question is, does necessarily require a magical way of traveling to visit other pantheons or not.
What if the pantheons of the polytheistic religions of the world were actually the fallen angels of God the creator, now im not saying to take the game into a complete judeo/christian biblical direction but… if they were the fallen angels it would be a pretty cool reason as to why most of the so called Gods are malevolent and maybe Kratos is Gods answer to there corruption on the world and eventually Kratos becomes the Angel of Death which would also bring back that grim reaper idea Cory Barlog had. Idk i think it would be a pretty interesting story.
Maybe in Kratos killing some of the gods of Greece and Greece fell maybe that explosion of hope happened maybe that created or elevated the pantheon of other mythologies to a level equal to that of Greece
I always view Greek and Roman mythology as the same thing or a continuation of Greek mythology as a result of Ascanius, plus expanded by local Roman mythology.
This is a very interesting theory but it's 90% sure that we will not se the Roman empire in the series, but I do believe we may get answers to this theory maybe in the next god of war! But there was another poet who was like Homer ( the creator of Greek mythology) what's interesting with this poet is that he wrote a story that he talks about Egypt and in he's poem he talks about what Happened after the events of Troy and that Hellen of Troy wasn't actually in Troy but she was in Egypt ,I'm just telling you this Cuba just to let you know about this in case of a theory
I Think could be this way: i Think the Greek gods will be again come back alive and named a different names on their roman counterparts! Zeus = Jupiter, Poseidon = Neptune, Hades = Pluto, Athena = Minerva, Aphrodite = Venus,… plus New roman gods like Janus, etc!
This one feels far fetched as technically the Greek and Roman Pantheon are the same deities just with different names and mildly different bits in there origins
In fact, the Roman gods came from the Etruscans and Sabines and not from the Greeks, this is clear from the existence of characters like Janus, Pomona and Silvanus.
In my opinion, after the events of Gow3, a civil war occurred between the remaining Olympians, titans, primordials and demigods for rule Greece, you can say it was a bloody war, and I think Calliope was involved in that, it could be the most miserable and darkest Greek era, Where the ugliest and most violent methods were used to win, but Eventually it would end with the formation of the Roman Empire, And I believe that the rest of this war will be the Roman gods, and the names they take are only secondary names to obscure their true identity.
Is Sana Monica wanted to they could go with a similar view of the Percy Jackson universe, where the gods essentially had personality disorders and are sometimes the greek gods and sometimes the roman gods Or they could make it that the gods are reborn as the roman versions, similar to how the roman gods seemed to replace the greek gods in real life
My theory is that athena try to resurrect the greek gods with the powers of that higher state of existence she tapped into when she died and it will work but there is a cost for her actions like changing their nature and personality but there will something that will stay the same , their anger for the ghost of sparta
Like you said, history isn’t a focus in God of War but I hope they implement some elements of it such as if/when we go to Egypt, there are hints of the Roman Empire setting up a province there. Could be used in a Celtic setting as well.
I think in some way Atreus, on his journey to find all the giants, will somehow end up in Rome. Possibly, Atreus could be captured and word gets to Kratos, leading to a rematch of sorts (probably with a lot less godly death than the Greeks due to their more war-focused natures)
Currently replaying Ragnarok now + is out, I realized that Atreus drops his mothers soul stone shortly after returning to Midgard from ironwood. Cutscene shows he has it in his hand, runs and opens a window with it In his hands, gets yanked from the window and loses the empty laufey soul stone.
Actually....every mythology exists in its own world as confirmed by Corey, and so the Roman pantheon may exist, but exactly like every other pantheon does. Each one with its on univers
Here’s a theory, I think the next god of war game is going to have Kratos trying to rebuild the world with other pantheons/gods trying to kill him or help him
Santa Monica is focusing on Kratos, the least they could do is just Maybe confirm "yeah I guess the Roman Gods are in Greece now.. so.. about the higher planes of existence, what will happen to Kratos?" Something like that
I think it was stated the novels are secondary canon. Meaning the things in the novels are canon but if there is an information or an event that contradicts or is different than what happens in the game, then what happens in the game is the one that is considered canon.
I actually like the idea of the Roman god's being humans taking powers from blade of Olympus and become gods and mimic the Greek gods even add the idea that the humans becoming roman versions of Greek gods actually being human Romans mimicking Greek gods as Romans have conquered the Greek realm after GOW 3 and blnd Greek and Roman cultures like in history .
Roman emperor as Jupiter, treasurer as Pluto, naval fleet leader as Neptune and land battle general as Mars. If Egyptians saw Pharaohs as earthly gods, then why not expand this concept to Rome too? The next games could explore godhood and its origins.
They are way more spiritual, thats for sure. Also mortal, but not like the Norse Gods who die easily, but death and afterlife is still normal for them unlike the Greek gods. We'll see i guess what they make of them. After the norse saga, i cant say i expect much.
I have a very strange theory about this. Maybe after the events of Gow 3 the human survivors in Greece tried rebuilding a new civilization and in building this new world they slowly forgot specific details about the previous Greek gods and Greek pantheon and they starting believing in the Roman pantheon which would explain why the Roman pantheon is so similar to the Greek pantheon, my theory is that the humans literally PRAYED the Roman pantheon into existence. I know it sounds far fetched but it sounds right to me lmao
6:08 - That's you! I think the Greeks rebuilt themselves as the Etruscans following the fall of Zeus & the Roman Empire represents their alliance with Egypt & Persia.
My theory for next game is the Atreus resurrects Faye and she is brought back as Hel. It’s totally possible because Brok came back from the dead. Plus we still haven’t seen the last child of Loki.
Maybe they could throw us a curveball and have the roman empire be just humans but maybe the power of hope gave a lot of the former greeks powers? They could tell an interesting story of how humans can be monsters, and have Kratos or Atreus save other lands from the roman super soldiers. Keep in mind they wouldn't be nearly as powerful as a god or even one of the mythical beings we have already seen, but when an army all have some amount of power it could be interesting for story and gameplay reasons. 100s or 1,000s of xmen level mutant powered humans might be enough to take down gods from other pantheons, and the gameplay could reflect that by having encounters with a lot more enemies but they are easier to kill. Not all encounters though, they could still have humans that are more powerful than others to give more of a challenge. Not only do I think this would be a unique change of pace for the series, but I honestly can't see how the remaining greeks would ever except gods again. Ultimately though, just being a god isn't what makes someone evil, it's the power and mindset. This would explain the roman empire pretty well in the god of war universe IMO
Few quick notes: By Romans, we mean citizens of Rome or Roman Empire, there was never a ethnic Roman nation, they are and were Italians/Latins. Lots of Greeks had colonies in Italy, especially the southern part, quite a lot of Latin comes from Greek, pronounced differently. They are the same gods. Example, in Greek, Father Zeus is Zeus Pater, which became Jupater-Jupiter in Latin. When it comes to Ares, Mars in Latin, older Greek spelling of the name, before the classical ancient Greek era was Mares/Martes/Martos, in different regions and dialects of Greece. Hence the month March is the month of Mars in Latin, in Greek it is called Martes/Martios. See also Greek/Latin names like Herakles/Hercules, Theseas/Theseus, Perseas/Perseus and so on. Of course it is not limited to nor as simple as that, just a very short, insufficient analysis, due to the limited amount of words one can write here. Keep having fun exploring the Myths of God of War, dear friends everywhere!
3:32 there is a potential that Egyptian gods being responsible for his death because he literally disrespect them by finding help from a divine being from other relam remember in the actual mythology Ra sent Sekhmet to kill the mortals who disrespect him so he got killed because of them is a mythical accurate thing
It would be really cool see the Roman pantheon as they are exactly like the Greek but much more militarised & honourable. Maybe they would actually decide to respect Kratos.
Maybe the Roman Pantheon was the Greek one but after their destruction the survivors rebuild civilization, now godless, thanks to the hope Kratos left them. So in the present time, a couple of centuries after the events of GOW 3, we might see the mediterranean sea being controlled by a mostly human civilization, explaining the Caesar's coin. There are for sure some remaining Greek gods that didn't die at the Pantheon's destruction so this would explain why "in real life", Roman Gods are basically the same as the Greek ones, since they remember them and still have some around.
Aleph: The life you have known since you were born was used only to raise you into yourselves. This is a temporary phase, and was used to set the foundation for the new world. This phase will end at a specific moment. Beth: This is to give you an understanding about the end of this phase. It is the introduction of the many things which were hidden from you as you grew into yourself. Gimel: To understand the "end," you must understand what happened in the previous world. Indeed, we are approaching the end of this phase, but you need to understand what it is. We will be transitioning into a new world setting, but you need to understand why you couldn't be born directly into it. Daleth: The growth process, is the life you have known since birth. Your growth into yourself needed to be completed through an alternate timeline, and the end of this timeline is the new beginning. For many reasons, you could not be born directly into it. He: It was discovered in the previous world that the growth process needed to be completed through a separate phase. That is the life you have just grown into. The world you are about to transition into, could not be seen, or known yet. For many reasons, it needed to be saved for last. Vau: The next world setting is the same as the previous world setting. Everyone will be activated into their original bodies, just like in the previous world, but this time, you will see the new world differently than how you saw it before. In the previous world, the knowledge of the Creator was freely available to all, and life was practically worry-free. The system was set up for everyones' comfort and enjoyment, but the nature of the human mind was not well known yet. Zain: It didn't take long for the downfall to begin. It was because of how the human mind naturally operates as it grows. The previous world became a major disappointment, and it was declared a failure, much like this current timeline. This current timeline is being used, only to grow everyone into themselves, then the new world will be introduced. Cheth: It is completely natural for people to grow into their own understanding of life, and form their own beliefs. People would still form multiple religions, even if they knew "God" this entire time. People would develop their own "theories," even if the answers were right in front of them. Teth: The knowledge of "God" became meaningless to everyone, because that is all they ever knew. Many people were even convinced that they themselves were actually wiser than "God." It was because everyone was born and raised knowing "God." Jod: The end, is the introduction of the new world, which is also the previous world. You just couldn't be raised directly into it. The new world condition could not be introduced at your beginning. The family trees were set to grow into temporary bodies, until the designated time for transition. This has been a sort of alternate reality, and it was used only for the growth process of the family trees. Caph: As everyone grew directly into the previous world, nothing was hidden from them. They were basically raised into a world setting that would put them on the course to becoming "Gods" themselves. It was a great idea at first, but as the world progressed, people lost touch with reality. People became self-absorbed, and their own human nature took them down the wrong path. It was impossible to change peoples' perception, and not even "God" could set them on the right path. Lamed: People chose to follow others, as they strayed further from the Creator. People formed their own groups, and began defaming, spreading lies, and fabricating falsehoods about others. They even considered "God" as being "evil." Mem: For many reasons, "God" was hidden from everyone during the growth process. The natural human mind needed to grow separately from "God." This was the only way to eventually change peoples' perception of the world they grew into. Nun: The "end" is the introduction of "God" to the world, and the reactivation of the family trees, both alive and dead. That is when everyone enters the previous world once again, but this time, with an entirely different perception than the first time. Samech: The only way to unite everyone into one understanding, was to conceal certain things during the growth process. Then at the time of the end, everyone will be shown what was missing. The people of the world will share a common interest in what will occur. Ein: The reactivation of the family trees will occur at the end of this growth period, and those who are alive at the time will also be reactivated. The body you now operate is temporary, and is not your original body. Your original body is also a physical body, and the transition of those who are both alive and dead will occur at the same moment. You will be reactivated back into your original body. Pe: The concept of everyone being reactivated into a separate, physical body may seem inconceivable, but nothing is more "magical" than your existence. Your ability to even read, and comprehend these words, is far more "magical" than anything else that could happen. Tzaddi: If you were born and raised into a "wizard," you would most likely not see yourself as "magical." If you were born and raised into someone that could fly, you would most likely not see yourself as magical, because it would be all you ever knew. Right now, you are a magical creation, and are naturally blind to it. It is a completely natural occurrence, but it must be overcome. Koph: The ability to see, is far more magical than anything that can be seen. The ability to hear, is far more magical than anything that can be heard. The ability to know, is far more magical than anything that can be known. When something amazes you, just know that your ability to be amazed is far more magical than anything that can amaze you. Resh: The next world is basically a continuation of this current world. This current phase was used strictly for the growth of the family trees, so that no one could grow adapted to the new world. It needed to remain hidden until the end. Schin: The new world will not be perfect. It will be a great deal at first, but people will slowly become adapted to it. The new world is not the solution. The solution comes from within us. The introduction of the new world will be the beginning of a new perception. Everyone will have a common interest. Tau: You were created to live forever, but your growth process needed to be completed separate from the new world. The new world condition is quite special, and it must be fully appreciated. If the people of the world were raised directly into it, it would not be appreciated. It would not be valued like it should. It would have the same results as this current world. The new world could not be introduced until the end.
To anyone confuse with what Kuba is explaining how the God of War world works, let me summarize it for you: One universe, one mythology. The mythological universes are parallel worlds to each other where one mythology is absolute. It does not take place on the same planet but just worlds similar to each other.
I think they could incorporate Roman pantheons like this. I could have powerful beings we've never seen before take the roles of the Greeks gods, but change their names. Mercury would take Hermes role as the messanger God. Jupiter taking Zeus role as the king of the gods etc. In this case you could say they are just frauds. Pretending to be the gods. I think this is a cool idea since Roman and Greek mythology have a lot of similarities. Instead of having two similar pantheons. You have a pantheon formed from the death of another.
I have the theory of there being another kratos that would create the rome phanteon remember kratos travelled back in time to fight zeus well it seems he's in a diferent timeline because zeus dialogue is different from the one in beggining and there's another kratos that disapears when the original gets ready to fight zeus some said the second one died because the timeline was changed but i say he went to hades probally staying there for to much time and after God of war 3 when the greek realm was destroyed and the original kratos left to Egypt the second one came back and turned evil because remember the evils of the great war never went out of greece not even to the gods of asgard or any other phanteon so they stayed in greece and this second kratos will get infected because he wouldn't be protected by the power of hope because this one never pandora and when that happened he would erase the memory of the greek gods creating the Román phantheon and aplie this rule to the old generation survivors like probally aprodathie who would probally change name after pressing ⭕ with the new rome kratos and this kratos would even change his tittle to the Júpiter God Leaving a possibility on having a canon versus between greek and norse kratos
In God of war we see that belife is a big deal and powerfull, what if when kratos destroyed the greece pantheon and gave hope to the mortals, rome would now come from the ashes and the old greece gods would be reborn, what if athena herself is in on it, what if she creates a new pantheon with the image of the old, she did become something new. I would love to see Kratos see Jupiter and call him Zeus, maybe jupiter would be in athenas control but beign made as a copy of zeus he would have memories of Kratos. A cool idea i think.
I don't think so, here's why. The history of Rome is that of a civilization that was really good at copying other civilizations and arguably making their copies better than the original. A great example of that is their religion being pretty much a copy paste of Greek mythology with several changes, like their gods origin stories. But they still have the same powers that the Greek gods did, which as a design choice if SMS goes with a Roman GOW game would be very lackluster. However having said that maybe what they could do with Rome is have it be a stronghold for the living Gods that survived whatever Ragnarok they face if it was started by Kratos or the gang or not. In which case they can build up an army that could try and conquer all of mythology in the GOW universe.
The Latins viewed their deities as paragons of virtue and would name their children after them, and while they did believe that they did sometimes do bad, such as Jupiter chaining Prometheus for simply aiding the Mortals and Juno sending Hercules into a frenzy where he kills wife and children! (Suspiciously similar, amiright?). But it wasn't as bad as the Greeks. Also I don't think the Romans/Latins grouped their gods as "Primordial, Titan and Olympian." But if they did, please, inform me! But with that being said, this opens the gates of a glorious possibility where the all the gods ever return to Chaos (deity) and possibly Khronos/Chronos (The Primordial, not the Titan) and they restart and redeem themselves. So Kronos, the once cruel and arrogant Titan King becomes Saturn, the noble and wise King of the gods. And Uranus, who was imprisoned his own children for just their looks. Becomes the ethereal Caelus, and last but not least... ARES! Ares realises his wrongs, redeems himself as Mars and leads Latium and Rome to glory! And maybe Hercules is refered to as Herakles in some exposition just to appease the mythology purists (Me included)
I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT ATHENA! Ok Athena is ressurected after returning to Chaos and possible Chronos (again, the Primordial) and she becomes Minerva, she renounces her hold as Olympian goddess of War and Wisdom. But remains the goddess of Wisdom and only Wisdom since that's what the Latins viewed her as. goddess of Wisdom, and not goddess of both War and Wisdom.
I could definitely be wrong but didn’t the Roman Empire exist significantly after the fall of Ancient Greece? I know the events of GOW 4 were well after 3 but I didn’t think it was that far in the future. The timeline just isn’t making sense to me.
now that you mention it they should have gone to egypt and rome before scandinavia, the egyptian and roman mythologies where dead for a very long time before the norse mythology was created
Honestly, I don't think Santa Monica is especially bothered with timeline of different mythologies. I think that if we were to venture into Egyptian Mythology we'd just see them at a time that will be fit to tell a story and they won't care if it's 1000 years before Norse mythology or 1000 years after.
In God of War: Chains of Olympus, the Persian King calls the Greek Gods, weak and false Gods. Maybe that's worth looking into
I made a theory about The Persian Invasion of Attica on the God of War Subreddit, in which i point out the connections between Chains of Olympus and Ascension. Essentially one day i looking through the God of War wiki about the locations where the furies were hunting Kratos which was the Village of Kirra on the trivia section it states
''According to the official artbook of God of War: Ascension, namely The Art of God of War: Ascension the village of Kirra is located in Persia.''
Which got me thinking Hell the Manticores those flying creatures part lion, part dragon, part scorpion from Ascension are from Persia even the Elephantaur wears Persian armor, represting a connection.
I know that the Persian King states
''Evil?'' it is not evil that i bring Spartan. I bring the might of the Persia and the Sacrament of Purification.''
the latter of which is likely Zoroastrianism, the main religion of the Persians of that time period.

Kratos : you took everything from me
Mars (ares counterpart) : i don't even know who you are?
Hilariously Mars is characterised closer to current day Kratos than Aries nor even Old Kratos.
Kratos: YOU’RE THE ONE WHO MADE ME KILL MY FAMILY!
Mars: OOOOHHH, you’re Kratos, right? Yeah, I’m sorry about what that a*hole Ares did to you, but we are extremely different
Kratos: enlighten me
Mars: well, for one, I prefer being loved than feared by my people, respect and adoration are far more effective tools, how do you think I earned two festivals in my name? The festival of Mars in March and another one in October, could Ares say the same?
Kratos: hmm
Mars: do you think I could’ve led Rome to conquer every corner of the known world if I went around killing everyone I met?
Kratos: hmm… you remind me of my friend Tyr
Mars: ah, yes… Tyr, that’s one wise God, he knows a God of war needs restrain, there’s a time for war and a time for peace and when to use diplomacy above all else
Kratos: hmm, yeah… he’s… my friend
Mars: having friends is important Kratos, they give you something to fight for, never forget that, you’re no longer the God Killer, you’re a new man. Do not let your past define you Kratos, seek the peace you need and forgive yourself
Kratos: thank you, Mars…
Shakes hands
Mara: remember Kratos, your friends and people are who you fight for
Kratos: I… will remember that
That’s how a conversation between Kratos and Mars would go
“Mars! Destroy my enemies and my life is yours!”
Mars: hey uh… Kratos, about that, we don’t do that here
(Mars and Ares are extremely different Gods.
I want this so badly
Same get this man a job with Santa Monica studios
Kratos: Ares!?
Mars: I am Mars the Roman God of War
Kratos:...
This is a pretty cool theory. The details of humans taking powers from the Blade of Olympus to become the new gods sounds way too unlikely to become canon to me, but I definitely still hope that the Roman pantheon is made officially canon.
TBH It's a badass idea and I really hope this is a direction they touch on eventually
My theory is that since Kratos destroyed the Greek Gods, other Gods from different Pantheons have arrived in Greece to rebuild and rule. The Roman Gods could be them given the proximity, however Greek/Roman Gods share proximinity with the Egyptian Gods as well.
In Greek mythology there is a story called Typhonomachy, it tells about Typhon who attacked Greece and fought with Zeus (he was present in GoW2).
I really like this because I think one aspect of GOW that should be touched on in new games is Atreus learning of what Kratos did in his past on his own. Not in the sense of becoming scared of his father (that would be super frustrating to play through considering their relationship in the first two games), but simply of learning about it from a victims perspective. Considering how empathetic Atreus is to others, I think it would be very interesting to walk through a story in which Atreus and Kratos come to terms with something that was given a little bit of light in Ragnarok; do your future actions warrant forgiving past actions?
I was also wondering about the Roman pantheon since their gods are almost identical to Greek gods but with different names.
Dude, I love this theory! Especially if we come back to Greece and Kratos share his experience with the new Gods and how to be worthy
No matter what happens to the series I will always appreciate the creativity of the fans especially Kubas

"LOOK AROUND YOU ATHENA, THE WORLD STANDS IN RUIN. WHAT GOOD IS YOUR MESSAGE."
-Kratos
The Mars = Kratos thing is kind of funny because it fits Kratos so well,
Mars is more Noble than Ares ever was and much smarter, Mars wasn't just the God of War but a God of Agriculture and the Harvest, Mars favours Noble Soliders over Cruel Warriors and also Mars was described by Emperor Augustus as an agent of Vengence and Retribution, a lot of things you can attribute to Kratos.
Kratos vs Mars would be an awesome battle
End of GOW 1
Literally the cycle never ends hahaha
If the Roman Pantheon and Greek Pantheon clashed... half of the gods would immediately have splitting headaches due to the split personality which must be occurring. Given the fact that many of them have direct equivalents to each other.
Apollo seems to have made the switch without issue though 😅

Intriguing theory about the rise of the Roman Gods! I always considered the God of War saga to be Greco-Roman, but I really like your theory of mortals as new divine avatars! It's hilarious how in Hishe they raised this too XD I like it and I would accommodate a possible Barbaric and Byzantine clash!!
It would also accommodate the Astral Athena and the other unpublished and possible survivors Greek deities!!
There is real competition to Athena in Romans, then Bcz Roman also have Non-Greek counter parts Gods, One of Them Is Bellona, the Roman goddess of War
The planets in our solar system are named after them bro. How u not know lol

Greek gods from wish 🤣🤣🤣TBH no one fucks with Roman Mythology
I’ve actually always thought of this theory
(Edited) thanks for putting me in the beginning of the video that was pretty cool for me
I love the idea of roman pantheon so much because it paves a way for the original games to join the modern god of war games in a clever way instead of just remaking the trilogy in a new engine
I want to see a twist where all or most of the gods are actually nice and doing their job well
And the new enemy is just the leftover evil the world have
The geology of the GoW irks me endlessly. I still wish they had just said each mythology is a world in its own right.
Itd even fit with the Norse duology and its other realms.
man i love these type of videos. idk what it is. you make me excited for GOW6 already
If anything, the Greek dieties got reincarnated as Roman deities, with the onset of the roman empire or something.
Theory: I think the Roman gods are Greek Gods who survived from God of war 3.
I think they were survivors from the Trojan War.

Or athena just recreated the Greek Into Roman and when kratos travels To Rome he would find Zeus once again as Jupiter And Aphrodite as Venus
damn i really love the start of your videos!
Is Sana Monica wanted to they could go with a similar view of the Percy Jackson universe, where the gods essentially had personality disorders and are sometimes the greek gods and sometimes the roman gods
Or they could make it that the gods are reborn as the roman versions, similar to how the roman gods seemed to replace the greek gods in real life
My theory is that athena try to resurrect the greek gods with the powers of that higher state of existence she tapped into when she died and it will work but there is a cost for her actions like changing their nature and personality but there will something that will stay the same , their anger for the ghost of sparta
The Problem is Athena's Roman Version, Minerva is so different from Athena, and There is a Roman war goddess called Bellona
Mann I would really be interested in the Roman pantheon I know it mirrors Greek but it would still be cool regardless
Santa Monica Studios while watching this video: "Write that down! Write that DOWN!"
Like you said, history isn’t a focus in God of War but I hope they implement some elements of it such as if/when we go to Egypt, there are hints of the Roman Empire setting up a province there. Could be used in a Celtic setting as well.
Blade of Olympus in Valhalla was crazy!!

Here’s a theory, I think the next god of war game is going to have Kratos trying to rebuild the world with other pantheons/gods trying to kill him or help him
Isn't the Roman Gods just the Greek Gods?
Santa Monica is focusing on Kratos, the least they could do is just Maybe confirm "yeah I guess the Roman Gods are in Greece now.. so.. about the higher planes of existence, what will happen to Kratos?"
Something like that
Would Kratos and Jupiter get along?
Depends. As long as he isn't evil.
I think it was stated the novels are secondary canon. Meaning the things in the novels are canon but if there is an information or an event that contradicts or is different than what happens in the game, then what happens in the game is the one that is considered canon.
Jupiter!!!

To make the three wise man prophecy come true This would it make sense .
3:32 there is a potential that Egyptian gods being responsible for his death because he literally disrespect them by finding help from a divine being from other relam remember in the actual mythology Ra sent Sekhmet to kill the mortals who disrespect him so he got killed because of them is a mythical accurate thing
I miss those days when i sat down and watched your predictions about Ragnarök.😢
Aleph:
The life you have known since you were born was used only to raise you into yourselves. This is a temporary phase, and was used to set the foundation for the new world. This phase will end at a specific moment.
Beth:
This is to give you an understanding about the end of this phase. It is the introduction of the many things which were hidden from you as you grew into yourself.
Gimel:
To understand the "end," you must understand what happened in the previous world. Indeed, we are approaching the end of this phase, but you need to understand what it is. We will be transitioning into a new world setting, but you need to understand why you couldn't be born directly into it.
Daleth:
The growth process, is the life you have known since birth. Your growth into yourself needed to be completed through an alternate timeline, and the end of this timeline is the new beginning. For many reasons, you could not be born directly into it.
He:
It was discovered in the previous world that the growth process needed to be completed through a separate phase. That is the life you have just grown into. The world you are about to transition into, could not be seen, or known yet. For many reasons, it needed to be saved for last.
Vau:
The next world setting is the same as the previous world setting.
Zain:
It didn't take long for the downfall to begin. It was because of how the human mind naturally operates as it grows. The previous world became a major disappointment, and it was declared a failure, much like this current timeline. This current timeline is being used, only to grow everyone into themselves, then the new world will be introduced.
Cheth:
It is completely natural for people to grow into their own understanding of life, and form their own beliefs. People would still form multiple religions, even if they knew "God" this entire time. People would develop their own "theories," even if the answers were right in front of them.
Teth:
The knowledge of "God" became meaningless to everyone, because that is all they ever knew. Many people were even convinced that they themselves were actually wiser than "God." It was because everyone was born and raised knowing "God."
Jod:
The end, is the introduction of the new world, which is also the previous world. You just couldn't be raised directly into it. The new world condition could not be introduced at your beginning. The family trees were set to grow into temporary bodies, until the designated time for transition. This has been a sort of alternate reality, and it was used only for the growth process of the family trees.
Caph:
As everyone grew directly into the previous world, nothing was hidden from them.
Lamed:
People chose to follow others, as they strayed further from the Creator. People formed their own groups, and began defaming, spreading lies, and fabricating falsehoods about others. They even considered "God" as being "evil."
Mem:
For many reasons, "God" was hidden from everyone during the growth process. The natural human mind needed to grow separately from "God." This was the only way to eventually change peoples' perception of the world they grew into.
Nun:
The "end" is the introduction of "God" to the world, and the reactivation of the family trees, both alive and dead. That is when everyone enters the previous world once again, but this time, with an entirely different perception than the first time.
Samech:
The only way to unite everyone into one understanding, was to conceal certain things during the growth process. Then at the time of the end, everyone will be shown what was missing. The people of the world will share a common interest in what will occur.
Ein:
The reactivation of the family trees will occur at the end of this growth period, and those who are alive at the time will also be reactivated. The body you now operate is temporary, and is not your original body. Your original body is also a physical body, and the transition of those who are both alive and dead will occur at the same moment. You will be reactivated back into your original body.
Pe:
The concept of everyone being reactivated into a separate, physical body may seem inconceivable, but nothing is more "magical" than your existence. Your ability to even read, and comprehend these words, is far more "magical" than anything else that could happen.
Tzaddi:
If you were born and raised into a "wizard," you would most likely not see yourself as "magical." If you were born and raised into someone that could fly, you would most likely not see yourself as magical, because it would be all you ever knew. Right now, you are a magical creation, and are naturally blind to it. It is a completely natural occurrence, but it must be overcome.
Koph:
The ability to see, is far more magical than anything that can be seen.
The ability to hear, is far more magical than anything that can be heard.
The ability to know, is far more magical than anything that can be known.
When something amazes you, just know that your ability to be amazed is far more magical than anything that can amaze you.
Resh:
The next world is basically a continuation of this current world. This current phase was used strictly for the growth of the family trees, so that no one could grow adapted to the new world. It needed to remain hidden until the end.
Schin:
The new world will not be perfect. It will be a great deal at first, but people will slowly become adapted to it. The new world is not the solution. The solution comes from within us. The introduction of the new world will be the beginning of a new perception. Everyone will have a common interest.
Tau:
You were created to live forever, but your growth process needed to be completed separate from the new world.
It does not take place on the same planet but just worlds similar to each other.
it would be nice to see a bipolar kratos fighting between his roman and greek counter part lol
Also in the hand held game I think Chains Of Olympus Kratos had to fight Roman invaders.
I have the theory of there being another kratos that would create the rome phanteon remember kratos travelled back in time to fight zeus well it seems he's in a diferent timeline because zeus dialogue is different from the one in beggining and there's another kratos that disapears when the original gets ready to fight zeus some said the second one died because the timeline was changed but i say he went to hades probally staying there for to much time and after God of war 3 when the greek realm was destroyed and the original kratos left to Egypt the second one came back and turned evil because remember the evils of the great war never went out of greece not even to the gods of asgard or any other phanteon so they stayed in greece and this second kratos will get infected because he wouldn't be protected by the power of hope because this one never pandora and when that happened he would erase the memory of the greek gods creating the Román phantheon and aplie this rule to the old generation survivors like probally aprodathie who would probally change name after pressing ⭕ with the new rome kratos and this kratos would even change his tittle to the Júpiter God
Leaving a possibility on having a canon versus between greek and norse kratos
Maybe be now that kratos is the rebuilder when he gets to Egypt he will be the clean up crew creating the Egyptian pantheon 😮
I’m surprised kratos didn’t react to the vase showing humans rebuilding greece
He probably already knew about it. Remember kratos gave humanity the power of hope so they could rebuild.
"why would someone go to Greece for what might be a second opinion"
Or maybe they just didn't agree with the Gods of Egypt
They return to Greece, greeted by "Jupiter", but it's just Zeus
I think he meant the blade of Olympus would become Excalibur
Like the human becoming gods theory
Wherever they go just let Cory Barlog direct it
Cool theory
I think that the greece gods where reincarnated as the roman gods
I always thought, different Gods ruled over the universe for a Mount of time until they became Corrupt Or be killed off
The fact Artemis the goddess of the hunt. Isn't hunting kraytos is a crime. That needs to be fixed.
Love your vids man
I could definitely be wrong but didn’t the Roman Empire exist significantly after the fall of Ancient Greece?
Caelum... go forth in the name of Caelum
