It was beautiful to share the excitement we felt as we uncovered this mystery together lol! It’s awesome to uncover a big piece of God of War history, a big win for the community.
before this theory occurred, i was thinking about the next GoW games' event's and was primarily focusing on older Kratos going back to Greece, and face some roman anomaly or just resurrected Greeks which the Kratos from GoW III would enact his vengeance just like the current Kratos, and so the topic of 2 marked warriors fighting each other surprised me in this video because i was thinking about a concept that is similar to this with the whole 2 marked warriors battling out and not knowing one another, but difference is that the current Kratos would know who he'd be going against...
video ideas: best qtes in the series best movement sections in the series i.e; pegasus section, crossing the lowlands, sliding segments in gow ascension, icarus flight, etc.
The fact that Deimos was voiced by Elijah Wood, a high profile actor, in GoW3 only for him to do one voice line and not coming back to GoS (probably because he's too expensive) is also pretty sus
@@KaptainKubadespite god of war ascension's flaws, the interactions between Kratos and Orkos are amazing along with pretty much everything involving Orkos, plus people including you seem to forget that Kratos lost his memories throughout most of the game until Orkos sacrifices himself. Also people forget Orkos can use his clones for limited teleportation.
I would've loved god of war 3 as much as you do too if that was the story my most favorite game is god of war ghost of Sparta but if they made deimos appearance in 3 that would've been awesome and for ghost of Sparta they could've made it something completely different like the game about deimos which in the end gets him enchained
SPEECHLESS!! It's just the explanation I wanted for Deimos' "unreal" design in GOS (a muscular guy who spent many years enslaved didn't seem like the most appropriate thing to portray). Once again you took it out of park, Kuba; and I also watched the Midgard video, you are both geniuses at figuring this out and making complete sense of it. This video needs to go viral!!
Athena might've just remained dead at the end of GoW 2 instead of coming back. If the entire Flame/Pandora/Hope plot line didn't exist but the story was about Deimos she wouldn't have any reason to be there. In fact her death would've had more emotional impact that way. Her return as an entirely different character and surprise twist villain was always a bit awkward.
Great video. This also explains why in the Rage of Sparta theme, it repeats 'Kratos, Deimos' over and over. That never made any sense to me until now 🤔
Yeah, i like this version more I guess, and Flame of Olympus wouldn't even exist there, because it's such an obvious MacGuffin, i hate how we spend the whole game working around this Flame and it doesn't even matter in the end. Well, anyway, they did what they could considering the director changing and all that. Still made one hell of a series with great and memorable story line. Upd. Also, because the Flame wouldn't exist in original version, i think the concept of Power of Hope wouldn't exist either. I think Stig come up with this concept and liked it very much, liked the ending it could bring with Kratos releasing Hope to the world, that exactly because of that the original idea got replaced.
@MariusBoss11458 It came out of nowhere the games before gow3 didn't hint it at all that why in my opinion the power of hope is the most bs thing to put in gow3 out of nowhere just to redeem Kratos at the end by releasing it to the world
@@MariusBoss11458 this i like too, don't get me wrong, it's the Flame and all the hustle around it that bothers me. It's like the bad version of Dragon Scroll from Kung Fu Panda. There it had meaning, even if it's empty, it helps the main character realise something important and get a self-confidence. Here it do nothing, except giving us something to play around the whole game, all the important things for the story Kratos got from Pandora, which also needed a way to sacrifice herself somehow, and yet again, very convenient and useless Flame comes into play. It's so out of nowhere and just to push the plot, that even Kratos states smth like: "Flame of Olympus? Never heard of it".
@@CoolSaverI 100% agree with you but I still like the idea of the Power of Hope. I just hated how it related to the Flame of Olympus because narratively it was rushed and made no sense. The hope theme should have been it's own separate thing and be slowly hinted from the last games. However at least we got Pandora from this messy story and she was honestly one of my favorite parts of GOW 3.
10:33 yeah exactly i still thought that why song name was this when there is fight between father & son. Now it's perfectly fit why it name was this😳🔥👍🏻thanks
I always thought Deimos was a complete missed opportunity, you only get to know him for like 15 minutes and then he dies pathetically. Dude, he had a lot of potential for a deuteragonist in a GOW co-op game or even his own game. Just imagine a GOW with splitscreen campaign in which you play as Kratos and Deimos, that would've been really cool to see. And if that wasn't the case, just give us a real bossfight, because that ending in Ghost of Sparta felt so rushed it was just disappointing and ridiculous
If you search us Deimos from Greek Myth it says "He is the personification of fear. He is the son of Ares and Aphrodite, and the brother of Phobos." In GOW3 Hephaestus asks Kratos if Aphrodite has conquered "another" god of war. Also, Zeus was consumed by the evil "Fear".
This concept story are actully much cooler then what we get now, but i don't know why they decided to change the story, i guess there's some problem about this story but c'mon this story just simply to cool to the point that it make's me a little bit upset
I think it's because the person who got to direct the game decided to do something cooler in his opinion. And what is the central theme of GoW3? The Power of Hope. I gotta admit, it's a pretty cool concept, it's the strongest part of GoW3's story. I think because Stig come up with this idea they changed the story.
Fantastic video . Also, something occured to me that further proves your point : In gow 3 start screen , rage of sparta theme starts playing . The lyrics in that theme keeps repeating : KRATOS , DIEMOS . Which was always odd to me why diemos of all people . He wasnt even in the game story . Something to think about .

I'm being serious it could maybe be done if they switch around the opening boss fight. The one thing that bothered me about 3 is that Hades is the first major boss after Kratos loses his powers again. Hades is the ELDEST of the big three. The way it could work is that the gods give the titans hell at the start forcing Gaia that the need another warrior to distract the other gods while Kratos goes for Zeus. So Kratos gets off and heads to the underworld meeting Hades who went to stop him; and sees the warrior chained up and starts screaming in rage as soon as Kratos enters the room. and the screams intensify through each phase of the opening boss fight. Once Hades is dead the warrior is filled with so much rage that he frees himself and the player is thrown imminently into a second boss fight with no healing. Its a heads they win tails you lose boss fight and both the warrior and Kratos end up falling into the river Styx losing his powers then meets ghost Athena. The rest of the game plays pretty normally except Poseidon is now the mid game boss,(plus it works as a theme; underworld, ocean and then sky) Pandora subplot can stay(maybe cut the labyrinth down a tad), only the warrior is also now tearing through Olympus in rage as well popping up every so often. Instead of Zeus taunting Kratos causing him to let go of Pandora, the warrior attacks Kratos making him let go, Kratos kills the warrior, horrified that its Demos; with absolutely nothing left but rage he goes to were Zeus is waiting for him. Fight goes the same, except Gaia never betrayed Kratos but stabbing her through the heart to kill Zeus just adds to the looooong list of the worst things he has done. In 2 he unintentionally kills an ally but in 3, means to an end.
This is extremely incredible! The apparent importance of Deimos to the franchise before the release of GoS would never have crossed my mind, and would give way to the explanation of his discarded designs as well as his not-so-notorious appearance in the final version of GoW 3, leaving some vestiges of what could have been, a great contribution, they are geniuses!
I am pretty sure that they are planning remakes and will use these bits as they wanted thats why they are not revealing information that would be useless to them unless they want to recreate their original ideas
Deimos felt like such missed potential. I mean kratos's iconic tattoo was based on him. But i took his brief appearance as consistent with the isolation and death in the very few that he cared about. All still physically attached on his body as a reminder.
Hell, they always planned to use Deimos. IIRC, there was bonus content in the FIRST GoW game, where they allude to Deimos in the special features. There was ALSO a tease about Cronos’ massive bones being uncovered in the modern day.
Only one problem with that is I don’t know how the final fight would’ve happened, in the current story Zeus pushed kratos into killing pandora else he would’ve saved her, this is why he got even more motivated to kill Zeus. But in that story if Deimos would’ve been killed when they had been fighting multiple times already, when he finally died kratos would’ve felt defeated and realised that there was no point in vengeance as it has only been destroying him and his people. So he wouldn’t have fought Zeus and let Zeus kill him
By the way, i also was thinking at least a few times why this composition was called "The Brothers of Blood". Thought it's just an obscure pointing to Kratos being of Zeus' blood. Well now it makes a lot of sense, thank you :D

Judging by the God of War 3 artwork, Deimos appears to have made a deal with Hades by becoming his champion (similar to his champions in God of War Ascension). Question: When Hades, during the battle on Olympus, absorbs the soul of the Titan Oceanus, does he also gain his power (such as his sea of darkness both in the Underworld and on earth)?
@@KaptainKuba yeah and it was awesome bro i hope they will go for this story in god of war 3 remake as you also said in tweeter that they are taking some liberty from story i hope they bring this story can't wait to fight with demos 1v1 in gow 3 combat system🔥🥹
Just thought of a crazy theory, as soon as I saw Deimos! What if Deimos soul surivived after all this time wandering the underworld & found the blades of hades! And ruled over the underworld! Man Deimos is such a slept on character
Thank you for covering this stuff ❤ Im not a big fan of this channel but it does revive a lot of my own research with game lore and mythology which mythology is a convenient source of history exploration I use that happens to cross with GOW 😅 and I can definetly say they have plans for Deimos mixed in with Kratos using time travel , Apollo(God of Prophecy=Time) For New fans ill keep it simple : Kratos=Atreus /Deimos=Loki One weird detail I must add is Ares in GoW1 . His armor has the same birthmark & tattoo design of Deimos and Kratos etched on his Chest Armour with three dogs on both of his shoulders(2Sets)☯️🫣 Kratos got carried off by three dogs to Norse.. Just like kuba talking with Barlog it's nice to get some 1 on 1 time with someone who worked with anything related to this series...but it's always articulated in such a way even behind the scenes ⏳🤐
So GoW3 went through some wild re-writes and to be honest we are lucky we had a semblance of a story in the end. First it was the Deimos plot point and after this it was the Twilight storyline, in the end both got almost fully scrubbed and replaced by the Pandora storyline and Hope, how would have those major plotpoints and Pandora combined is another great question!
As a big fan of Deimos, I really appreciate you making this video!!! You did an excellent job with finding and explaining the evidence!!! Also I love the idea you made for the possible story Deimos could have in GOW 3!!! He has so much potential and I'm glad you're showing it!!!
Bro...this may be the best GoW theory I've ever seen, each part is very well placed to fit with each other, I honestly don't know if I prefer the original GoW 3 or the GoW 3 that your theory presents....
Calling it now. They could make a remastered not remake of GOW3 but this time is the full story. The cut content feels like a spell done by a powerful deity even fooling the game experience lol
They will not do it because the content cut is not something that only gow 3 experienced, it is something typical of the saga, I think the ones that had this the most were chains of Olympus, gow 2, gow 3 and gow 4.
GoW3 story-problem was having to much unnecessary stuff, like the flame, the box, Pandora and Athena. So removing all that and having Deimos instead sounds better. Less is more. BUT your theory about how the story would play out doesn't really add up either. It's not a plot hole that Hades is sent to the underworld to stop Kratos for good, Kratos is the main problem. The rest can manage the titans. (Which they do fine, until Kratos shows up and helps Perses and kills Helios for example.) And Kratos needing the Soul is also not a plot hole either, it's basically 1 door and 1 key that Kratos has to use. In GoW1 Zeus had the power to open another door for him, and in GoW2 Gaia helps him before he was taken down to the underworld. BUT BACK TO DEIMO: Why would Kratos save the marked warrior if he didn't know who he was? Was he told the prophecy and hoped the marked warrior would help him? He was mainly after Zeus, so releasing him would just create yet another problem for him as now he has to race another who also wants to kill Zeus. And Kratos learning who he was after killing him would not work as an "emotional twist", if we just got a flashback AFTER we kill him. You didn't like the 3rd act in Ghost of Sparta, but your theory in GoW3 ends up being a worse version of it. It would not mirror GoW1 because the flashbacks in that game are basically Kratos's PTSD aka Nightmares triggering during the events of the game. At that point in GoW3 he doesn't suffer from them the same way because he's consumed by hatred and vengeance. So even if we got flashbacks with Deimos BEFORE the reveal, it wouldn't really make sense, and it would be obvious who the marked warrior was. And Zeus' line about "Choosing the other one" makes LESS sense now if Kratos JUST KILLED the "other one" in this story. He's not rubbing it into Gaia, when HER marked warrior is the one still standing. His line already makes sense as he is cocky as fuck and thinks nothing of Kratos, so he's remarking how Gaia should have focused on- and saved Deimos at one point before his death, instead of Kratos at the beginning of GoW2.
We can only pray to the gods if there is a remake that they use all the stuff they left out, they could make the best remake/reboot of the triology ever
Deimos was done real dirty. He was treated as fan theory material that annoyed the more grounded fans. Those theories probably had some truth into them, but the devs kept cutting Deimos again and again. I'm glad we got what we did, even if Deimos cameo was pretty weak.
Welp that would explain why the God of War 3 story never sat well with me and is one big Mess. Even the Battle with the Titans Vs the God's being over within the first act seemed like a Giant cop out.
Although I also didn't like that, we can't say that it was disappointing because since gow 2 in the cinematics the titans (especially Gaia) had been telling us that the gods in the titanomachy were already superior to them, it was logical to expect that future versions of Those of us who fought in gow 3 easily beat tabs, but those of us who were disappointed were a bit... stupid. Or well, quite stupid.
@konektyka Yes, but it will always remain as one of those stories that you know could have been told better, because, objectively speaking, it is poorly written.
I really hope that if Santa Monica Studios remake the original God of War trilogy, they bring back the Deimos plotline in GOW 3 and other abandoned content!!! SMS can also fix the plot holes/story inconsistencies and add more lore!!!
I have a theory, ATREUS WATCHED THE RIFT WITH THRUD, before the fight between Kratos and Thor in Ragnarok Kratos tells Atreus to take the mask and thrud and go. they are not there in the whole fight. After the death of Thor they suddenly appear and no explanation of where they was. After ragnarok Atreus knows where to look for giants which is mysterious .I think he saw in the rift with the help of the mask
Hey if they do the remake of God of war then they'll most likely add the demos as a villain and make it as a proper make him as a proper villain you know to the game
Kaptain i think the mark warrior prophecy indicate scar on kratos right eye not his tattoo bcz when the deimos was kidnapped ares leave the scar when he try to save so called mark warrior (deimos)
crazy though the one difference plot point could twist the entirety of gow3, Pandora wouldn't exist, even the higher plane of existence might not even a thought.
Maybe if they remastered the old god of war games they may just remake them to their original story line or add more things then the original god of war 3 did like imagine Orion trying to hunt Kratos and then you fight against Deimos and then in the fear world against Zeus you fight Phobos
In God of War Ragnarök, have you noticed that Kratos obtained Freyr's flying boat but he never actually uses it? I truly believe that Kratos will uses it to travel to the next pantheon.
He uses it to reach the Crater to rescue Birgir, which canonically did happen, since it was Birgir who gave him the firework that Kratos ends up using at Ragnarok to regroup and change plans.
to shift gear to something unrelated isn't it sad(?) that old games when having cut contents still leave an awesome game. Where as now, a rush and cut game usually end in catastrophe
@@GGd3p i like it too but this concept would be really epic. And why are you so weird commenting on every comment with the same opinion like me. You are weird bro go touch grass

But that's okay, we still had Ghost of Sparta which is one of my favorite chapters and which I hope they remake It. However, I would love to see Cory close what he starts as director at least once 😂 cliffhanger in GoS, Gow2, GoW 2018... but he never closes though 😩😂

This was a really cool video I actually really do miss the character Deimos
Just thought of a crazy theory, as soon as I saw Deimos! What if Deimos soul surivived after all this time wandering the underworld & found the blades of hades! And ruled over the underworld!
Man Deimos is such a slept on character
Brothers of blood is also played when kratos is fighting hercules, his brother.
Let them remake the game with this story it would be even more fire
Hey Kuba fan of yours from Greece !! Let me add something about Brothers of Blood OST. There is nothing in the lyrics that suggest a fight with Zeus.
Thank you for covering this stuff ❤ Im not a big fan of this channel but it does revive a lot of my own research with game lore and mythology which mythology is a convenient source of history exploration I use that happens to cross with GOW 😅 and I can definetly say they have plans for Deimos mixed in with Kratos using time travel ,
Apollo(God of Prophecy=Time)
For New fans ill keep it simple : Kratos=Atreus /Deimos=Loki
One weird detail I must add is Ares in GoW1 .
Thank you for the kind words, I'm really glad you enjoyed the video ♥️
@@KaptainKuba You're welcome!!! 😊💖💖💖
Bro...this may be the best GoW theory I've ever seen, each part is very well placed to fit with each other, I honestly don't know if I prefer the original GoW 3 or the GoW 3 that your theory presents....
Thank you! I think I would have liked the og more but I can't say for sure. Maybe it was cut for story reasons
BROOOOOOOO this is mind blowing, i am in shock....
I miss these videos man, and the background music
Even in GOW1 The mural that fortells man fightig Zeus, actually shows 2 warriors.
So basically they teased Kratos Vs Deimos in GOW 2, Planned to be in GOW 3 but due to the actor price they dropped it and rushed the plotline?
Well i brutally simplified.
Despite everything GOW 3 still was succesful
This was a pretty comprehensive video...
Also we missed out on Froddo (Elijah Wood) being a big part of GoW 3
"Wil Wheaton................
I'll take my revenge." - Sheldon
13:08 turn on substicles and what does Zeus said💀
HAHAHA
Bro you are on every god of war video you love that series dont you?
This is why I like your channel You Show Information About The Things That We Did Not Know Thanks!
Im gald you enjoyed it
Calling it now. They could make a remastered not remake of GOW3 but this time is the full story.
The cut content feels like a spell done by a powerful deity even fooling the game experience lol
That’s never gonna happen and you know it
They will not do it because the content cut is not something that only gow 3 experienced, it is something typical of the saga, I think the ones that had this the most were chains of Olympus, gow 2, gow 3 and gow 4.
"Your Pawn Has Failed you Gaia. Perhaps you should have chosen the Other one!"
Zeus 2010
Despite it's problems it still was succesful
If they ever remake gow 3 I want them to add Deimos in it
So this was why Deimos was Elijah wood ….and got 2 lines….why because he was meant to have bigger idea
Kratos killing his brother before getting the mask out, then killing his father after he says "kratos my son, release me"
We can only pray to the gods if there is a remake that they use all the stuff they left out, they could make the best remake/reboot of the triology ever
Love videos like this
That demonic deimos design is🔥
Deimos was done real dirty. He was treated as fan theory material that annoyed the more grounded fans. Those theories probably had some truth into them, but the devs kept cutting Deimos again and again.
I'm glad we got what we did, even if Deimos cameo was pretty weak.
Odin told loki that thor is half gaint what if fay and thor where brother and sister
This story would have been 100 times better
Doesn't change the fact GOW 3 was successful
Welp that would explain why the God of War 3 story never sat well with me and is one big Mess. Even the Battle with the Titans Vs the God's being over within the first act seemed like a Giant cop out.
Although I also didn't like that, we can't say that it was disappointing because since gow 2 in the cinematics the titans (especially Gaia) had been telling us that the gods in the titanomachy were already superior to them, it was logical to expect that future versions of Those of us who fought in gow 3 easily beat tabs, but those of us who were disappointed were a bit... stupid. Or well, quite stupid.
It still was succesful.
@@martinc8965story still was succesful
@@GGd3p It still works but it is undeniable that it could have been told much better.
@konektyka Yes, but it will always remain as one of those stories that you know could have been told better, because, objectively speaking, it is poorly written.
Somehow I remembered somewhere Kratos has suit and chef skins.
So now Kratos running slowly from a rolling thing is the new Subway Surfers gameplay to put in the background?
At 13:16 I thought Zeus was referring to himself. As in the titans should have never fought against the Olympians.
Didn’t everyone think that brothers of blood ost was meant for the battle with Hercules before? It makes more sense now
Good vid, I enjoyed it ❤
Appreciate it
Man damn. As much as i love gow3 i feel like we was robbed of an even better story
Hey if they do the remake of God of war then they'll most likely add the demos as a villain and make it as a proper make him as a proper villain you know to the game
Kaptain i think the mark warrior prophecy indicate scar on kratos right eye not his tattoo bcz when the deimos was kidnapped ares leave the scar when he try to save so called mark warrior (deimos)
nice one Kap & Mid🔥
crazy though the one difference plot point could twist the entirety of gow3, Pandora wouldn't exist, even the higher plane of existence might not even a thought.
I like how god of war 3 turned out stif did a good job
If i would choose only one game in the serie to have current gen graphics it would be ghost of sparta
I hope in the remastered Version of the game They add the Road to Sparta
hey with this Santa Monica could twist the remake (if there is one on the way), into something else entirely if they want to
Maybe if they remastered the old god of war games they may just remake them to their original story line or add more things then the original god of war 3 did like imagine Orion trying to hunt Kratos and then you fight against Deimos and then in the fear world against Zeus you fight Phobos
In God of War Ragnarök, have you noticed that Kratos obtained Freyr's flying boat but he never actually uses it?
I truly believe that Kratos will uses it to travel to the next pantheon.
He uses it to reach the Crater to rescue Birgir, which canonically did happen, since it was Birgir who gave him the firework that Kratos ends up using at Ragnarok to regroup and change plans.
mine is chains of Olympus, ghost of sparta is second for me
to shift gear to something unrelated
isn't it sad(?) that old games when having cut contents still leave an awesome game. Where as now, a rush and cut game usually end in catastrophe
Say that to fate
Now i wish there is an alternative timeline where we actually got this for the story of GOW3. I could only wish.
Doesn't change the fact it was succesful
@@GGd3p nah this would have been better
@@bi-han8281 yet you can't do anything about People liking GOW 3
@@GGd3p i like it too but this concept would be really epic. And why are you so weird commenting on every comment with the same opinion like me. You are weird bro go touch grass

Unrelated question: If we had a trilogy remake (with the graphics we saw in Valhalla) Kratos would have the voice of Cristopher Judge, or T.C Carson?
After all, GoW 3 remains a classic, but I won't lie, the discarded story, in addition to making a lot of sense, could also have been interesting... But that's okay, we still had Ghost of Sparta which is one of my favorite chapters and which I hope they remake It.
However, I would love to see Cory close what he starts as director at least once 😂 cliffhanger in GoS, Gow2, GoW 2018... but he never closes though 😩😂
WOW this is amazing, it makes so much sense to me for some reason, it would of been better if that would of been happened to be honest in my opinion.
