He’d be destroying everyone. Some of the weapons he had in the Greek saga would’ve put Odin’s magic to shame.
Just with Golden Fleece and Hermes boots, he would be nearly unstoppable lol. Kratos the God of OVERKILL 😂
Here’s a few things you forgot to mention/add:
- The official GoW 2 Novelization confirmed that the Blades of Athena are stronger than the Blades of Chaos. Later in GoW 3, it’s stated that the Blades of Exile is Kratos’s strongest ally (aside from the Blade of Olympus of course).
- All the souls combined from the Claws of Hades is actually linked to them. So if Kratos regains possession over the Claws of Hades, he’ll inherit all of the souls that were once absorbed again (including Atlas’s Soul).
- The Nemean Cestus is strong enough to shake the entire world. Greece in GoW contains infinite realms such as the Underworld, Upperworld, Heaven, and Domain of Death. They’re also capable of staggering and knocking Zeus off his feet (stated in the official guidebook of GoW 3).
- The Nemesis Whip is capable of staggering/stunning Kratos for moment. It’s stated by Hephaestus that this weapon is “like no other”.
- The Rage of the Titans is imbued with the fires of the Gods, embodies the strength of the Titans, and is amped with Prometheus’s ashes.
- The official GoW 1 novelization confirmed that the Blade of Artemis is stronger than the Blades of Chaos. It’s stated that it’s a more “potent” weapon than the Blades of Chaos.
- The Sun Shield in Chains of Olympus is imbued with Primordial Fire. It was capable of blocking Persephone’s death explosion (which destroyed the Pillar of the World).
- According to the GoW 2 novelization, Kratos used the Spear of Destiny to cut his threads. The Threads of Fate was stated to be creation itself in the balance.
- GoW 2 novelization also stated that Barbarian Hammer is capable of smashing Clotho’s fingers.
- The Urns and Godly Possessions aren’t canon to the series as far I’m aware. However, Kratos canonically never runs out of magic or rage. This is evident from the novels, and that one scene in 2018 where the Dark Elves captures Atreus.
I always assumed that the urns were just a way of indirectly telling you that in-universe Kratos has infinite magic and rage. He just doesn’t in-game normally for balancing purposes lol.

The developers just didn’t want to add back all of Kratos’s equipment from GoW 2 just for the prologue for GoW 3 since it’s inconvenient and waste of time.
Plus, the novelization mentions his abilities and it was released on the February of 2013.

I'm sure Brok and Sindri would've loved to have gotten a chance to work on even half of the weapons and gear from the OG trilogy. Not to mention of few of the items mentioned here would work pretty well for Atreus too. Perhaps in his travels Atreus will find some of his father's old gear and claim them as his own.
What I like in Ragnarök is that all of Kratos Weapons, moves and abilities are a culmination of previous weapons, moves and abilities. Further indicating that Kratos even after losing his powers multiple times, uses his experiences as part of his fighting style.
Runic attacks reference past magics and special moves; Leviathan uses sword and warhammer moves; the blades of chaos uses moves from all chained weapons, Draupnir uses prevoius spear type weapon attacks and the guardian shield in addition to Spartan Rage uses hand-to-hand and shield special moves.
In short, Kratos doesn't need his previous powers or weapons anymore, since he already grew past them and got equal or superior equipment since then. And that's amazing design and storytelling.

I agree with you that he doesnt need them. This is because the foes he faces are weaker. But he didnt outgrow them let alone replace them with equal or stronger.

@@alispeed5095 He did replace them. Other than _Hermes's Boots_ and _Icarus's Wings,_ he has something that can do, what his greek gear could back then and everything is equal to those. Like I mentioned in my comment, his new weapons have the moves of every greek weapon, with _lightning elemental powers,_ being the exeption. Atreus can use runic summons, similar to the souls of Hades and even though those animals aren't like the monsters from the underworld, they get the same job done and with some side-effect added to them.
Now, when it comes to equipment like _The Golden Fleece_ remember, it's just a very high-quality shoulder guard. Hephaistos forged armor said to be "undestructible" for both gods of war and those hot pierced through and broken, just like _The Golden Fleece_ got destroyed by Zeus, even though that thing tanked blows from the _Blade of Olympus_ previously. And speaking of the _Blade of Olympus, Hephaistos also forged the _Gauntlet of Zeus,_ which served the same purpose and was at best equal in power. Mind you, Hephaistos wasn't born the smithing god, he _learned it_ to the point of become the best craftsman in greece. Now do you think, dwarfs can't forge something of at least equal quality, just because they aren't "gods"? With Mjölnir & Leviathan being on par with the _Blade of Olympus,_ what makes it so sure, that armour crafted by the same dwarfs, isn't at the same level as _The Golden Fleece?_
Interesting enough, there's an item called _"The Cloak of Feathers",_ crafted by Brok & Sindri and mentioned in the Collector's Edition printed map. In og mythology that cloak belongs to Freya of all people. In-game Freya's Valkyrie wings aside, that cloak is the norse equivalent of _Icaru's Wings_ and they don't fall apart, when flying too close to the sun.

When i was younger and nerdier i noticed many powers were kinda the same so did a list on paper of the best magics, weapons and artifacts (Poseidon's rage, apollo bow, amulet of uroborus,etc) to built a sort of the most powerful Composite Kratos
1:41 it wasn't the axe. From theGoW 2018 Jormangandr embued his venom (eitr) into it when Kratos threw it into the Lake of Nine. THAT is what caused the wound to not heal.

A few things to note on some of these abilities. The amulet of oroborus can reverse or speed up the time on someone or an object. Probably could age someone till they’re dead or de age them till they’re babies. The wrath of Poseidon can destroy both your body and soul. In the novel, kratos used the blade of artimas to wipe a wraith from existence. Zeuses lightning nullifies the powers of whoever it hits so even if you survive being hit by it, it can cancel out your powers for some time.
I know it’s super niche but the power potential in Prototype 2 is damn near on the God tier level. If at all possible it would be super cool if you could do a video or two on it.

I feel like if your gonna use the fact that the leviathan axe left a wound on Thor that didn’t heal as a feat to the axes strength then you should probably mention how the axe is only able to do that because of jormungandur (the world serpent)
Kratos didn't took Hercules' shoulder pads but the Nemean Centus for more punching power.
When you kill Hercules, you land in water and if you swim to the bottom of the pool, you find a shoulder pad.
even if he was able to keep them, he would probably throw them like he tried with the blades.

Kind of* It's a summoned memory. Essentially he's summoning the Blade of Olympus he remembers. Since it's a based on Kratos's memories, it lacks a great deal of the power as the real thing. It's still an incredibly powerful weapon and possibility opens the door of Kratos summoning more weapons from his past.

@@goobieschloob_alt Well the Blades are stuck with him so... He can't get rid of those. I don't know about other Greek weapons returning though. He's able to summon the Blade of Olympus because of his trials in Valhalla. It's certainly possible that this power may return in future games and allow him to bring back other weapons from his past. But I think they want to limit how many old weapons he can bring back.

Id argue Norse Kratos himself is physically stronger and tougher but lacks the hax, greek gods grow stronger with age, so i really doubt kratos in GoW III COULD actually physically keep up with kratos now, however his hax are what is potent. Thats my stand on it.

The magic they use it has something like a trick or gimmic, quite opposite to the Greek magic.

You should also note that the same way the second game has urns the thirds has the godly possession such as infinite health magic and rage are there as well pretty sure extra damage and if you count costumes he can do as much as quadruple damage
Not to mention that the blades of chaos already absorb the power of those slain with them, meaning he's healed and strengthened every time he kills anything with them.

The Leviathan Axe was "eitr imbued" in gow 2018. Eitr is the venom of the world serpent. In Norse myth, it is said that, that is the venom that killed Thor and the inly venom to be able to harm him permanently.

The Gauntlet Of Zeus is the only other weapon aside from Pandoras Box and Blade of Olympus that can give a mortal the ability to kill a God, making Kratos even more powerful as it increases Kratos punching power even more

The only reason the axe I believe was able to harm Thor is it was imbued with venom from the world serpent. That's why it wouldn't heal.
I mean if Kratos did retain everything then he would have been completely unstoppable. His battles against the Norse Gods would have been easier. Balldur's situation is a little difficult to understand as their isn't much explanation about his curse but against the other gods, Kratos wouldn't have any difficulty.

It’s crazy because yes, Kratos had the ARSENAL of the ENTIRE Greek Pantheon..but he still beat most of his enemies with overwhelming force. This is why i like Kratos because these guys were tough but Kratos just always had to be tougher. Everything he’s fought in his Norse run? He’s fought even bigger in his Greek run. Canonically, he no diffs everything until his final day of living.
