    He didn't predict this would be the next thing to happen and automatically thinks it's a stunt. That's how deeply engrossed he was in this underworld. He assumed Jack McCoy was prosecuting him because he was a sore loser or something like that.

    Officers of the Law show up, fancy dinner party in progress.
    If that woman had her way, the Cops would wait outside for Hubby to come down on his own.
    Smug power-broker going down is something I can't get enough of!

      Eh back then, this is what the public wanted their prosecutors and the law to be. This was around the time Shawshank Redemption was seen as "controversial" for showing inmates as human and not degenerates.

    "I object your honor:. I'm a lawyer and when you object you have to give a legal reason for your objection. It can't just be something you don't want or that hurts your case. Another stupid objection on this show was prejudice. All evidence is designed to prejudice. Evidence must be unduly prejudicial before it is excluded and then only after a balancing test. This is law school 101.

      @AndrewMacLaine 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In court shows, its the "Perry Mason Effecf" where real lawyers are endlessly frustrated with the representation to viewers of how proceedings work. All in all, audiences would be bored if they found out that you don't even need a confession from the stand in order to be found guilty.

    In real life, would Jack and Paul be allowed to be arguing against each other since they're friends? This is not an argument in front of the Supreme Court, it's a murder trial.

    • @kohanu95
      @kohanu95 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends if there is a conflict of interest (COI), but that’s not the case here. COIs usually arise between client and attorney, not attorney vs attorney. A potential COI between Jack and Paul would need to be egregious enough to cause them to disregard their respective duties (Jack’s duty to the people; Paul’s duty to his client).

    So, these Law & Order clips keep popping up on my TH-cam feed. I watch them, remember how good those old episodes are, and then see the "Stream Now" link at the end of the videos that bring up the Peacock streaming service. So, I bite the bullet and sign-up for Peacock. Only to find out that -- guess what -- Peacock only has seasons 13-20 of Law & Order. Most of the clips they're showing are from before season 13. This is... I think the correct words is... bogus.
