"Woah! Three gray suits. A wild and crazy guy."
Orbach's deadpan delivery of that line kills me
I love the way New Yorkers on the show behave like it is normal to be questioned on the job by homicide detectives.
It's New York City. 😊
@wowalinbie it's actually one of the safest big cities.
Actually, we don't think that. And give credit; they're a lot more subtle than Briscoe and Logan.
"Hey, I got work to do."
It’s New York lol
I can attest that the courts take jury duty *very* seriously. When I was on jury duty, we weren't sequestered, but the clerk made it very clear if we had a question we were to ring the bell and she would knock. At which time, we were to stop deliberating before we opened the door. And we were *NOT* to discuss the case in her presence. I'm just glad I wasn't assigned to the trial of an organized criminal. That would have been a nightmare.
Same! I was on a jury with a death penalty and we were not to discuss it even among ourselves.
@@thefrogsscalp777 Except of course when you were in the room where you deliberated. While in the jury room, you have to discuss it. That's part of the deliberation. We were told the same thing. Outside the deliberation room, we weren't to discuss it even among ourselves.
I was a juror on a misdemeanor trial and they weren't playing, cant imagine being on a felony jury let alone a murder trial
never done jury duty...permanently exempt....though ive been in court many times for right reasons
Logan and Briscoe were the gold standard of detectives on Law and Order.
I like them and green and briscw
The best!
logan really wasnt. it was ed green and lennie briscoe the top of the top ⭐️
yes
yeah, I'll wait for the Green era then start singing.
Gotta love how Lenny remembers the date and time of when he last talked to his ex-wife
Its easy when the script reminds you of it 😅🤣😂
That seems to be a major aspect of a divorce....knowing exact time, place, day, year when the former was seen or even interacted, type of wardrobe(of both parties), the smells, a complete rundown of another companion, even a glimpse of earwax.
Trust me, almost every divorced man does...
@@CECS1 You don't forget when you signed the divorce papers.
uofc57 I thought this was the day of the oj chase ?
Jerry Orbach said he had one mantra is his career. Never leave a hit show. And he never did..
Mr Orbach was great.
He only left law and order because he was so weak with cancer treatments he could only say his lines at a whisper
@@trevormoses5061 I certainly have a notion to second THAT emotion ! What an amazing & iconic talent !
Jerry Orbach had a series called “The Law and Harry McGraw”. He was quick minded in that series!
@@agenerationofpuppets1670also he was amazing in murder she wrotte as private detective
"You remember the last time you spoke to your ex, Lenny?" And he just walks away, knowing the answer, lol. Such a great team!
That is just a walking "grizzled three ex wives detective" stereotype and boy do we love that nonsense.
"A guy that steals shampoo..."
*Proceeds to put shampoo in his pocket.*
And removes evidence from a victim's home.
I’m sure the trial will hinge on the twenty third bottle of hotel shampoo
The script says he went back on his off time to return it if that makes you feel any better
I never noticed that LoL
"What the shampoo did he just say?" (Old SNL "Joe Pesci Show" sketch.)
Set. Lennie Briscoe always had great one liners. He was the best. Forever RIP Jerry Orbach.
I remember one episode where the victim was dragged by a car and Lenny goes, "What was the murder weapon? A cheese grater?"
Orbach probably DID have a bathrobe from Grossinger's
I'm thinking that, once the writers saw how he played the jaded NYC detective, they wrote him some juicy lines. I would - he was a consummate actor for that role.
Please, Detective. I'm not naive. You're not here to help me". My favorite line in this video and an accurate statement. You can hear and see the fear in Mrs. Lempert's voice and face. We see this character only twice in the video but for me she's the one to watch and listen to. Mrs. Lempert is a vivid, believable character thanks to excellent writing and Leslie Ayvazian's excellent performance of that writing.
They want Information from her, information that the mob will probably kill her eventually for.
They aren't there to help her specifically but will help her if she helps them. I think that's pretty fair, plus she is probably dead if she doesn't.
Yes. She's wonderful...
it was so good. the writing so spare they could never be accused of overdoing it. tons of great NY actors doing character roles
Logan “Do you remember the last time you spoke with your ex, Lenny?”
Briscoe “July 17th 1994 2:35 p.m.”
Derrick Henry's birthday
Every Law and Order episode:
"Yeh I knew him. What is he dead or something?"
"Yes"
***No reaction, continues to do job undistracted
"Yes. That's why the MURDER police are here."
@@Afalstein and why we're referring to him in the past tense
Or a big over reaction. Lol I love this show
Or, "What kind of trouble is he/she in?”
"They're dead. Shot last night around 3am."
(Stunned surprise)
"No...that's not possible. I just spoke to him the other day; everything seemed fine!"
Well I mean, wasn't this set in New York at a time when the murder rate was on average a thousand per year?
The two BEST cops ever on that show! Every episode was fabulous. Mike Logans return on Criminal Intent was a breath of fresh air for us viewers. Noth was born to play Logan!
I liked him in CI, but you can't beat Vincent D'Onofrio and Kathryn Erbe, although the latter's sexist one liners can be exasperating at times.
Beg to differ..BRISCOE AND GREENE❤❤
@@Shonte-i8v I would never call you wrong. Logan was my generations 2nd cop. Green certainly had staying powwer but in my eyes, Logan was a more compelling character. Personal choice only.
Robertson was scared of spiders😏
God I miss Lennie Briscoe
You ain't the only one brother.
#METOO the best
me too...so much. He was my favorite character
"I'll deny everything"
"So will we"
Intense segment. "MY EX-HUSBAND!" She is played by Leslie Ayvazian. Her limited screen time on TV and the big screen is complemented with extensive time in off Broadway plays, which she has written. Very accomplished actress and writer. We don't see her much outside of New York City
She's a typical New York actress. She'll take whatever jobs are available in Hollywood (they pay well) and work the rest of the time on Broadway with doing the occasional regular gig or teaching gig. The same in Los Angeles.
Thank you for the information about Ms. Ayvazian. Just watching her in these brief appearances I was impressed by her performance and just her presence. Everyone here is good but Leslie Ayvazian is, for me, the stand-out performer.
Everyone knows Jerry Orbach as Lenny, but musical theater was his first love. And he was one of Broadway's best, as an actor and singer. Listen to him in "The Fantasticks" or "Promises Promises" -- for which he won the Tony Award for best actor in 1969. One of the finest -- and most eclectic -- voices on Broadway.
He also lent his musical talents to the animated version of "Beauty and the Beast"
I knew him best as Harry McGraw from Murder She Wrote.
@@orionpax0946 Resulting in "The Law and Harry McGraw"... Forgot about that one!!!! Thank you!!!!
@@briscoejr1 That's right! He played Lumiere, the candelabra. I don't know if his French accent was spot on or not, but it worked for me -- and through it all you can always still hear that distinctive voice of his. Here he is with Angela Lansbury, who, as OrionPax09 points out, worked with him on "Murder, She Wrote." Two masters of musical theater together in the studio with a full orchestra. Amazing. tinyurl.com/yyqknsom
He announced the death of Gower Champion from the stage during curtain call of the opening of 42nd St.
Briscoe remembering when he last spoke to his ex-wife, down to the minute.
Relatable.... 🤣
And then Det. John Munch from Bmore Homicide tapped her. Smh. What a charmer.
I last saw my ex wife on Feb 14th 2009 at 7:34 pm central time
"No German cars for my kid. We're talking 'Vette, baby!"
I miss Mike Logan. I'm moving to Staten Island to reunite with an old friend.
He was transferred to Major Case at 1PP in "L&O: Criminal Intent".
If I had kids, I would have encouraged them to get a car with a manual transmission! Driving and texting becomes nearly impossible! Less chance of burying a dead child.
9:02 Makes sense, Bonpensiero always understood what it takes to put your kids through college.
Man, the old Law & Orders were incredible. There was a reason I have seen every episode through the 99 season 50+ times. Then I began to watch an old friend slowly die until the last 4-5 seasons they were almost cartoons.
I feel the same way
Season 1-5 are the best imo, but the character Ed Green (by the amazing Jesse Martin) really helped revitalize the show later on. Orbach and Waterston were the absolute monuments of the show, Jerry's passing certainly changed the show for the worst, although I enjoyed it until the end (and the reboot, which is still warming up for sure, glad it already has a second season to work things out)
Lennie Briscoe was the best thing about L&O and no one can convince me otherwise.
You're RIGHT!!!!
LOL
Mike Logan for me
I'm with you..
I agree! It was never the same for me after him.
Him and McCoy were the show!
Law and Order just has some kind of intangible flow to it i just can't put my finger on. I never really watched the show and yet almost everytime i come across an episode on tv by accident i find myself watching the whole thing. Same with this clip, almost 10 minutes from a random episode and season and yet i clicked it and watched the whole thing.
A show that makes you think. One of the best tv shows.
*wearing a gray suit*
*insults someone's 3 gray suits* lmao
Actually he was implying the similarities between them .
He was also wearing a gray suit... Dont you see the irony of his statement?
@@buxadonoff Well as the other poster pointed out he was pointing out they were similar. Both divorced, both work for the city, both don't have much of a life.
It seems like they both do have much of a life since they both work for the city.
--What I always liked about Law & Order was how universal it was, even during their "ripped from the headlines" years. The stories could still be set today, they're so well-written.
--"Private school? That's got to be about 20-grand per."
--Ha! Oh, you sweet, sweet summer child. That's just adorable. Now tell us how much change you'd have left over from your nickel after buying a soda pop and a tram ticket home from the Polo Grounds.
Years ago I was on Federal jury for 8 weeks involving a doctor, a lawyer, a rich guy and some others. We had a 18 year old what appeared to be an immature young women that fought us on the over 40 counts. Anyway after the trial I had to go up to a room to get a slip with dates served for work. This girl and the rich guys friends were in the same elevator as me. Girl said to them "I tried". Only time in my life that hair on my back stood up. Anyway we nailed them on most of the charges. FBI did a great job getting them admitting on tape of crimes they did.
😳
i hope you reported that. i would've. corrupting a jury is a complete break down of our legal system.
@@dlmdee Now? Pshh. Hoover wiretapped MLK, for god sakes. Must be rough when they go against the white guy you like.
@oldfrend you can't breakdown something that is systematically broken from the start.
@@keyquestions enough. just because the justice system doesn't conform to your ideal's doesn't make it "broken"

LOL @ Lennie knowing the last time he spoke to his ex-wife lol.
Guess this is how Salvatore Bonpinseiro made his bones
These were my favourite seasons, with Mike and Len. Len had so many great one-liners.
Aso much personality and presence.
Instead aso, I meant to type and, sorry.
Yes indeed. Lenny's best retort happened when the guy they were arresting said "my lawyer will have your jobs!" and Lenny said "Great! Can we have his?" LOL what a crack up
My sentiments exactly !!
@@ThePlaton20 hey was never vulgar or anything,…sometimes they were simple lines, but perfect for the situation and fantastic delivery. And great song and dance man in real life, he sure seemed like the type you could have a cup of coffee with. He was my favourite detective in the franchise, Mike second.
"Three grey suits a wild and crazy guy" great delivery
He was pointing out they were similar. Both divorced, both work for the city, both don't have much of a life.
I loved Lenny Brisco and Chris Noth.
Law & Order needs to be on a streaming service
It is going to be on nbc’s new streaming service that comes out this month.
It's on Peacock
Marsha Julessa yeah but not all of it. Peacock only has the last 8 seasons
@@elysecatmull3404 yeah worse than the first 8
I already know one.
Man do I miss L&O. Briscoe was my favorite.
In 45 years of watching TV series, of them all over this time, Law and Order (this original series) is my all time number 1 and favourite. 👍
Mine too.
I only watch the ones with Jack McCoy, he plays that part perfectly!
My favorite Assistant DA too was good ol' Jack McCoy.
I always admired Van Buren's character......very clear & common-sense.
Jerry Orbach and Chris Noth made a great team on Law and Order.
They were the best team, along with the lawyers back then. Now the show has lost what made it so iconic back then.
Nobody occupies their character like Jerry Orbach! Loved him as a kid and still absolutely riveting as an adult.
He died nearly 20 years ago but I've never forgotten his performances as the jaundiced Lennie.
Yes I tell people I am an attorney and when they ask where I went to school I say Law and Order university.
Good one ! I tell people I attended Wottsamatta U.
I hope in the next posting that they include the part where the mobster is testifying to multiple homicides while under immunity.
A classic scene.
"Today's special. Cop to four murders, get only five years." Classic Adam Schiff!
I miss Briscoe so much! The GOAT of L & O! Some of the finest television ever made, may he #RIP
I remember watching this religiously when it was on weekly. Haven't even watched a scene until now and I had forgotten how great this series was....
Did you notice Mike took the shampoo
When you have to rely on TH-cam for Briscoe/Logan L&O because Peacock don’t have the episodes up.
NBC doesn't have the streaming rights to all 20+ seasons. Not all the seasons are available either. It's about the residuals to the big league short timers like Paul Sorvino, JK Simmons, and Michael Moriarty.
There have been a lot of long run TV shows over the years but Law & Order stands head and shoulders above the rest. The characters were so fully fleshed out. You could, in your mind, almost see Lenny's apartment. It's never shown in the series. That didn't matter though. You knew him. You knew everything about him. His ex's, his daughter, his bookies...etc. This is why we continue to watch. The writing was just so good. Law & Order is the diamond standard of cop and court room dramas.
Imagine being able to pay tuition in full at a private school
Logan is hottest in Law & Order😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😘😍😍😍😍😍😘😘😍😍😍
I know detective Jerry Orbach's character known as Lennie one-liners on Law&Order is most memorable. The key to the success he had on the show was often talked was his many divorces and struggles.
A bathrobe from Grossingers!!! LMAO...nobody puts baby in a corner!
No way that wasn’t an intentional reference.
Logan in the Law and order movie was only cop to find the killer who is a cop. But the others in a sense of "loyal" to the killer refuse to arrest him. But Logan had to call Internal affairs then the others gets angry at Logan.
"Exile". Great film. Worse part is that even after exposing Profaci as the killer, 1PP left him on Staten Island until well after 9/11.
Love Lenny.
I find it funny how big the apartments are. My general understanding of New York is that you'd be paying a mint for a shoebox.
If this is in the 90's, they weren't as crazy then
The detective stole the shampoo.
Best TV detective duo ever.
I noticed that Mike pocketed the bottle of shampoo that had been in the dead man's bathroom.
"Private school? That mustve been like 20 grand"
"Ya if you don't plan on eating anything" 😂😂😂
I like the older ones, real locations and cops contaminating the scenes…
Everytime i watch a video with those two actors they are always saying sarcastic one liners
Wonder if that case about Dasso was related to the death of the building inspector thrown off the roof mentioned by Ceretta in Season 2? You saw Logan react to the guy when he mentioned the case and Logan said, "Small world".
Uh no it wasn’t it was Daniel magaden jr the guy who killed max greey dude/dudette.
Lenny is GOLD !
The quality of these videos is great. Why can’t they provide the full episodes instead of just clips??
The box sets are still going for good money
because NBC is more protective of L&0 distribution rights than Disney and their "vaults"
Because they want to leave you wanting more, in hopes you'll press that 'Buy' button.
m o n e y !!!!! they must create demand...and you are demanding more...so expectations of purchase/rental go up
Good to see the bailiff go into coin collecting later on!
He was very good in that episode.
If they were at my feet I wouldn’t bend over to pick them up.
@@nyosito Really powerful episode about generational trauma.
Always enjoyed the first segment of the show when Lenny always had a cute line about the deceased or the situation.
Lenny still makes me chuckle.
Lenny is GOLD !
Season 5 Episode 10 "House Counsel." I still think seasons four and five were the best seasons overall.
I love how every spinoff show uses the same Theme song. Jazz it up or slow it down it just seems to work. The new Law and Order Organized Crime has this really cool version of this theme song. I have it as my ring tone.
Totally agree ! This show would have a totally different vibe if they'd pick "The Whoopee Cushion Serenade" to be the theme song.
One of my favorite episodes.
THREE HOURS LUNCH BREAK EVERY NOW AND THEN!! I'm deceased 😂😂😂
I guess Andy Krawczyk had to move to Baltimore and become a property developer after losing a juror in New York.

Does this have anything to do with the Gotti-trial? (...or one of them??...) - 'cause it sounds awfully similar to that trial that Gravano fixed for Gotti Sr. ...
I tried watching the new season of L&O. It was not impressive to put it mildly. Only the classic.
I just order this season ❤️❤️
After Noth left, the show went nuts with the crazy, convoluted cases.
They had a couple more seasons of decent episodes, post 9/11 it really became all plots where the defendant is easy to catch but who tries to moralize with the jury about how they did the right thing and they get inches close to an acquittal.
Briscoe and Green were my favorite
