Law and Order was always better than anyone ever gave it credit for. With near every SVU episode ending in a confession, it's nice to appreciate the one show that had court room drama too.
SVU is weak.
I have seen quite a few episodes of the show "48 hours". Its amazing how many people confess when questioned.
@@meyou245 Yeah! and they almost never ask for a lawyer, nor do you ever hear them being informed of their Rights. Hummm? I wonder? All you have to do is remain silent. The outcome is not going to change. I saw one episode just a little while ago. They had suspect on video inside a convenience store, arguing with victim. Guy leaves, a very short while later victim goes to door, then outside, then BANG!! he shot and dead! So cops had the guy cold. They brought him in and questioned him (and a friend he drove off with). The guy swore he didn't do it. He was sweating bullets. Cops had him cold. But then it turned out he DID NOT do it!! There was a guy waiting outside the convenience store door, off to left, in a hooded sweatshirt. It was a revenge/payback shooting. Cops nailed that guy, he got LIFE!! That first guy lucked out.

Hey Ginny Sack also worked tie sales at Saks.
Kind of amazing when you think about how Logan's arc basically went from the beginning of OG L&O all the way through Criminal Intent. IIRC when he got reassigned to Staten Island that was an attempt at a backdoor pilot that never got picked up.
He was kind of losing it when he was on CI.
Interesting info. A spin-off for Logan .Might have been great. I remember Law and Order L.A. only lasted 3 episodes or so. I thought it would be a big spin-off. Seems any Law and Order set outside N.Y. fails I guess the city is the main character.

Bruce Altman. 😍 AND Christine Baranski. Never liked the mob cases, but Bruce Altman & Lorraine Toussaint were my favorite guest stars. (And Bruce as Terry Colby in "Mr. Robot" has helped make one of the best gifs ever!) 💘✌💗
Bruce was in the very best Criminal Intent episode - - Tuxedo Hill. The crime there was cold as ice.
I love how everyone in law and order dresses in these crazy expensive coats and stuff lol, even the detectives
Love this 2 part episode. The first season in my humble opinion was the best season.
It sure was. Established the foundation of the show. From then on, numerous cast changes.
First season was great but nothing beats Greene and Brisco as detectives. If only they had the orignal writers
I missed Greevey after the first season. Not even a proper send off.
I especially like this 2 parter for the game Masucci played against Stone. Really showed how there could be damned clever criminals in the series.

A pack of Camel Light cost $1.50 when I started smoking. They were $6.00 when I quit. Now I see they are up to almost$7.00. Christ the money I have saved.
I don't smoke either. But $7 sounds cheap. Around $10 where I live in AZ.
They're over 10 here in MN but up over 20. Although we'd go to Wisconsin and buy them on an Indian reservation, no tobacco tax.

well probable cause is pretty broad term. and can be anything from "we heard a woman screaming" to "we thought your car windows were illegally tainted". I think the show just started writing differently.

@@hamptom11 Of course they're getting more now; it's almost 20 years later. So $13.50 a pack and the city gets $1.05? That's about 7.8%. That's less than a lot of these cities' sales tax.

Having been a LEO for 23 years, IMHO L&O was the BEST of its genre. As for SVU, it lost its magic when Stabler left. Now it's the Hargitay Show.
I always heard that Lenny Briscoe was the ideal character of the NYPD. Also that when they were filming they would come up to him and say thanks for making us look good, and showing how we really are.

When I started smoking ( 1992 ) , I was paying $1.25 a PACK for Camel or Marlboro. I was in New Mexico, getting my smokes from the Reservation, no tax, no ID. It was nice. Now I pay $8.00 a pack in Houston, TX. What the hell happened?
Inflation and insurance companies happened. Mostly the latter. The insurance companies lobbied for higher taxes on tobacco, and of course the government loves having more money in the coffers. That's what REALLY drove up the prices.

I worked as a grocery store cashier in the '80's (yes I am still alive). Lots of people smoked. Bought them by both the pack and the carton. Prices would go up almost every six months. I can't count the number of people that would say 'I tell you when the price of a pack goes over $5 I'm quitting'. At that time a pack was under $3 About 2 years later it had far surpassed that and the cigarette companies still sponsored mega events long after that.

LOL... $0.35 cents cig taxes. I think a pack of cigs cost $10-$11+sales tax (another 9%+) at the local mini mart in CA these days. Prob $6-$9 in taxes per pack.

@@aspenrebel I don't smoke either, but I've heard people having a two-pack a day habit (40 smokes!)... that's a $20-$24 a day habit. $24 x 365 = up to $8,750 a year. Throw in a Starbucks coffee habit, that's a lot of money.
