When I first started using paint markers everyone said 'oh go with Posca, they're the best...worth the money...etc", so I invested in some. I have to be honest, for MY purposes, I was not impressed with them. I was using them on my resin artwork and it wasn't a flat surface, so, while the color was lovely, they 'spit' so to speak, all over my piece and I spent more time trying to clean up the mess the Posca's made vs. actually painting my piece. I gave the Ohuhu ones and I was impressed because I didn't get the 'spitting' anywhere near as much as I did with the Posca's, so they are ahead of Posca's there.
I don't rate posca as the super pens they're meant to be. I bought ohuhu pens and prefer them to the posca ones I own. Posca are too expensive in my opinion
Too funny! I tried posca for the same, and they ‘splotch’ terribly. I make resin jewelry, and so the pieces are very small. I found a paint much easier. But I might try these!
What type of commute are we talking? 😂 Japan train? Under-maintained American suburban or rural roads? Highway? Aggressive city? Whoever has a steady enough hand to do their makeup on a commute can probably handle the paint pens.
I'd also love to see a comparison of minis vs like note card sized canvas or card stock. Let's be honest it's not always easy to balance one's hand when you're working on the center of a 3x5 or a 4x6
Really enjoyed seeing the time comparison between the miniatures! For those with chronic conditions, or just with little time, the ease of set up and quicker execution are game-changing! And those metallic colors are just WOW!
I've been using the Ohuhu paint markers for all of my miniature painting for several months and love how much more quick and easy it makes the process. Love that you're highlighting them!
I LOVE that you thought of trying them on mini's! Not only on a commute, but I would consider taking them on holiday. Wouldn't consider dragging all of my little mini paints, brushes and such along.
I had bought a cheap set of acrylic markers a week ago. Just used them on some minis. It was quick and quite fun. GW needs to produce a set of these in their colors.
Between you and adcartattack I ended up getting back into art with ohuhu alcohol markers water markers and their sketch pads. Now I will definitely be getting these as well. Love ohuhu so much. Ty
I regret not getting Ohuhu first... it would have saved me so much money when I was first getting into alcohol markers. Oh well, I'll get them for myself anyway! I have over 600 markers. It's still not enough. I have a problem.
Ohuhus have really been growing on me, and holy this was convincing! I have an ever growing pile of shame with my minis, and if nothing else, this looks like a fun experiment!
It makes so much sense to have fine acrylic marker tips. I feel like markers would come in handy as additional tools while painting with other medium. If you wanna go big you can just use acrylic paint and brush or spray paint
I tried out some paint markers a while ago as well, and the struggle to find affordable sets is real! I really like that Ohuhu offers two nib sizes, because buying all sorts of colors in different sizes is so dang expensive. Never considered using these for miniature painting, but the portability of these is amazing indeed! Can easily grab these if you want to paint while visiting friends/family over the weekend without needing to carry tons of stuff around. I can also recommend checking out Mossery, a store that has art sets which teach you to paint in the style of various artists that they are collaborating with. They have a few sets for acrylic markers as well!
I really like the metallics on the miniatures. If nothing else, what an amazing base starter for those metal areas. I still like the paint brushed version better, but can you imagine how much easier the highlights are gonna be a paint pen? Winning!!
@Jazza of note, in the set discovered that Neon Orange actually is SHOCKINGLY an effective pale flesh tone. Washes make it even better. But yeah, picked up the set and used it on gaming minis. Absolutely love them for the colors they do have, wish there was a bit more in the ranges--like more browns. But combined with regular paint and using soft pastels to make rubbing powders to tint is the chef's kiss!
I have never heard of Paint markers using Acrylic before until this video Jazza. I would love to say thanks for sharing this video on how they work. I am highly tempted now on giving these a try next month and give em a test run myself now. hopefully these acrylic paint markers kick off where other brands jump into this neat idea.
Run a competition for subscribers where you ADD them to an existing painting in a style of their choosing? (warrior/ninja/wizard etc) ? that would be amazing
I love Ohuhu... such amazing stuff for much more affordable prices. I've been looking for paint markers, so Ohuhu have got my vote especially as esteemed artists like Jazza rate them so highly.
My favorite paint markers are actually the Artezas. They come in a variety of nib sizes, including very fine, and have more colors than Posca. They work beautifully too. I do love that these ohuhus have two nibs on one marker tho. That’s an awesome feature. I’ll definitely give these a try.
Ohuhu has been doing so well. Making expensive art supplies not only affordable but also good quality. They are not lightfast, but that doesn't always matter of course. They are constantly evolving. They now sell their alcohol markers in singles as well. So i hope we see some expansions on these paint markers too like your suggestions!
That was fun!! I love your 'woolly dobber'. Your artwork is always a joy to behold and I never thought of using paint pens on miniatures. Good to know that is an option. I love my Posca markers, as well as the Marabu YONO's that came in your 'Personalize It' kit. I have some Arrtx, double nib markers, brush nib, fine point that are okay. My go-to paint markers I got from Temu. Both the bullet nib shake to mix and some double nib brush, fine tip. The Temu markers seem to cover better, they dry evenly and I can layer them without the first coat lifting. Thank you for sharing your awesome talent, your research, time and your adventure.👍🤟🪡🎨
i got some really nice paint marker from my local chinese market, they have a brush tip and come in 36 colors, for like 10 dollars I wasnt expecting much of them, and it blew me away how good they paint, i can paint an orange layer over a black one and it covers it PERFECTLY, with pretty much a single layer, I love them
I’m sold! Price point is great & it’s just what I’ve been looking for to add to my art. I do agree about the skin tones, but for a starter set? These seem great! Can’t wait to get my own! Thanks, Jazza!
Jazza, thank you for this review! I bought the Ohuhu alcohol markers because of your video, and they are excellent. After watching this paint marker video, I immediately ordered them and tried them out. I painted my headphone case as you did (great idea by the way) and the results and ease of use were great. I do wish there were a few more colors, but for the price and amount of markers the set is excellent. The small pen tip alone makes them better than the Poscas! Thanks again Jazza!
a new paint pen vs old art medium vid? I loved that one! sod it - do it as a mini painting challenge: Traditional mini painting 'eavy metal' or 'grimdark' style VS paint pen only 'cartoon' style. I think a guardsman or Ork vs a marvel or DC model. Show what the 2 mediums can achieve when in their own specialist area! great sponsor, great price. genuinely tempted.
I may not even end up using them much, like most of my art supplies, but darn it if I didn't just buy it anyway. Thanks for the honest review, critiques and all! And now, I'd love to see you try painting on a commute. In the car with your wife, or on a bus even.
I really love making little clay miniatures by hand, but what puts me off is exactly what was mentioned! I have to get out all my paints and tissue and water, and then they're so small a single mistake means waiting ages for it to dry and putting multiple layers over in white- it sucks! I have the fine nib poscas, but have never really used them as I was unimpressed with the results. I was expecting the Ohuhus to be equally or even more expensive watching this, but checked to find the full set's only £24!! This seems like an investment that's worth it, affordable, and 100% a game changer.
so...my son-in-law is accruing a great collection of miniatures that he paints with teeny tiny brushes AND his son (my grandson) is an absolute fanatic for Pokemon. This is what I did: I forwarded your video to my daughter so she and the kid can geek out over your pokemon coloring AND I added that very set of Ohuhu markers to my Amazon cart! Ha! Enjoyable video as always, Jazza
at a certain point he just stopped comparing and went straight to just saying how good ohuhu is. i think we need a non-sponsored video where he actually decides who's the best.
Was gonna treat myself to some POSCA pens for my birthday next month but now I'm getting these. Maybe I can finally pick up some Ohuhu alcohol markers too. Woo!!
I have been using paint markers for warhammer since I started playing. They thought I was mad. I have been patiently waiting for Jazza to come and prove me right!
What makes the biggest difference between different brands of paint markers in my experience. Is how the tips holds after time. Bad ones dry out after use. And in best case you just need to Wet them in other cases new tips.. so i Would like to see tests of them after they allready got used before.
I've never considered using paint markers on miniatures. That's such a fantastic idea, especially for finer or straight-lined details like decals or flag emblems
Poscas have 1M and 1MR markers that are equally fine :P I can get them open stock locally too, so availability really varies I guess. There are a TON of new acrylic paint markers out in the market now…. I would LOVE a mega paint marker comparison! 😅 Love the neon and metallic colors of your set though, competition is great! (Ok. Not exactly, I want everything…. 😬)
I think people will be even more likely to ignore them considering you would have to buy two different sets of more expensive markers for the thin tip, ohuhu really is spoiling us with cheap but great quality art supplies
I have a load of the Tooli Art paint pens that have that small plastic nib, worked amazingly on a skateboard I painted for my brother of a bunch of anime characters. It was all natural colours too so loads of shades of green, blue, flesh etc
@jazza you NEED to try the Sharpie Creative Markers! (both the brush and bullet tip). I bought a pack to customize a backpack and it shocked me on how opaque it was on a black backpack! I'd love to see your opinion on those!
I like the Sharpie creative brush tip acrylic markers. Their color range is very limited though but I hope they're popular enough that they extend the range
What about they’re permanence? Posca and molotow are annoying when working mixed media as they dissolve when water is applied even after drying completely
I wonder how the white Ohuhu pen is on black paper? White Posca’s didn’t fare too well on black paper in my own experience. I was disappointed! These look lovely, might have to get myself a pack!
Now we need a “best marker for miniature painting” comparison 😉. Could compare these versus AK’s new real color markers and maybe some gundam kit markers, they been using markers for a long time.
Kmart and Target have similar Acrylic paint pens in three sets but they don't have the fine tip. However I have never painted a 3D resin model train so fast before and they dry fast. If they had military colours and a wider range they could make model painting so much easier and way faster.
I been using silver sharpies forever on minis. Maybe the jump to paint pens is the right move. As long as the tips are tiny and can get into small spots.
Ohuhu really sliding into the market, and taking over! Love it
It’s amazing I’m going to get these soon but it’s out of stock for Europe 😢
Hiiiiiii love that you always jump into jazza chat :) artist supporting artist . 100 why i follow you too! Keep being amazing
Arent u mad ohuhu cheated on u??????
Jk
Hi ADC
When I was looking for goods, I watched you and Jazza reviewing markers. You landed me on Ohuhu.

Too funny! I tried posca for the same, and they ‘splotch’ terribly. I make resin jewelry, and so the pieces are very small. I found a paint much easier. But I might try these!
oh my god, same here. the inconsistency of the marker's paint would randomly look dry and then suddenly boom, spit
I agree with that. Posca’s are a pain.
I agree, posca was not for me. I even had a better time with thr cheaper masters touch brand simple set. The amount I got out of them was amazing
OMG, an airpod case painted as a Mimic would be amazing.
This is a phenomenal idea!!
omg YES.
Wouldn't be complete without Frieren's butt. 👀
this is the worst idea yet when it comes to traumatizing the normies and yet i also love it that much BECAUSE of that possibility X3
Or the magic pearwood luggage from Discworld (all the tiny feet!)
ok, jazza says you could use the paint pens on a commute, who wants to see him do that? because i know for a fact i do
Me too!
What type of commute are we talking? 😂 Japan train? Under-maintained American suburban or rural roads? Highway? Aggressive city? Whoever has a steady enough hand to do their makeup on a commute can probably handle the paint pens.
@kellybraun7048 ow yes, the #49 bus route in Vancouver, BC, has spots that will shake the fillings out of your teeth.
Road trip paint session!
I'd also love to see a comparison of minis vs like note card sized canvas or card stock. Let's be honest it's not always easy to balance one's hand when you're working on the center of a 3x5 or a 4x6
Wow, that miniature is a really good case for using paint markers.

HOW DID YOU COMMENT 6 HOURS AGO
HUH
If you don't go for the markers try zenithal highlights!
It's super easy and a lot of fun! :D

The miniature use case is amazing. Alot better for details than brush work that leave brush marks
Ohuhus have really been growing on me, and holy this was convincing! I have an ever growing pile of shame with my minis, and if nothing else, this looks like a fun experiment!
😘
Hey ohuhu can i have a discount
Same here. Getting the whole paint/brush/water/pallet out everytime really puts me off. But just a few markers? Could be fun.
It. And out 2H AGO, YOU TYPED 10H AGO
It makes so much sense to have fine acrylic marker tips. I feel like markers would come in handy as additional tools while painting with other medium. If you wanna go big you can just use acrylic paint and brush or spray paint
Wow, I did not expect that you could paint miniatures with this! That's amazing. 😮
Ohuhu is my favorite brand of art supplies. Their customer service was really kind to me!
It took me like five hours to paint a small mimic miniature last month, seeing how fast you can move with paint pens makes me want a set immediately.
These look so cool! Certainly makes the process of painting smoother
Ohuhu really knocked it out of the park again.
Ohuhu is such an amazing brand and they really listen to their customers. I am anticipating seeing a chunky paint marker and more color options soon.
I tried out some paint markers a while ago as well, and the struggle to find affordable sets is real! Honestly the sharpie creative marker is underrated! and especially arrtx is probably just the best!
I really like the metallics on the miniatures. If nothing else, what an amazing base starter for those metal areas.

Winning!!
i love the direction this channel is going

I got huge Art Attack vibes from that airpod dude 😭💛

"apples to apples" on the air pods hahahaha
Ooh these look awesome for doing freehanding on minis.
I was skeptical of the dual tip aspect but the larger tip seems like it’s great for filling in spaces!
I kinda wish they opted in for a Chisel tip instead just like their honolulu markers. Chisel nib and brush nib on the other end.
I love your character designing jazza😭😭
I love Ohuhu... such amazing stuff for much more affordable prices. I've been looking for paint markers, so Ohuhu have got my vote especially as esteemed artists like Jazza rate them so highly.

You’ve gotta try the Ohuhu’s double sided, ‘no bleed’ paper? ADC Art Attack was blown away by it.
They are not great paper. Check out Amy shulke review of them where she explain why
Love this review and watching you draw and paint with new products. 😊
I really want murray and jenn giving a go on this
Wow, on mini painting. Thanks, Jazza.

That was a really creative look on it, cool stuff
BRB, I need to try this RIGHT NOW

I really want some Ohuhu ❤ everyone I see has them and creating amazing art from it 🎉
I'm starting on my comic artist journey and I do have some Orkz that are desperately waiting on some paint, sooooo... Just bought'em!

Please paint more minis. I looooove painting minis.
I love watching Jazza
omg they finally made ohuhu paint markers!!! been looking for smth legit and cheaper than posca
The airpod guy reminded me of the One Piece character that says "Chapapa" all the time
at a certain point he just stopped comparing and went straight to just saying how good ohuhu is. i think we need a non-sponsored video where he actually decides who's the best.
Was gonna treat myself to some POSCA pens for my birthday next month but now I'm getting these. Maybe I can finally pick up some Ohuhu alcohol markers too. Woo!!
Molotow markers over posca. These look good tho. But I love the ability to refill and mix my own shades via Molotow. Cheers.
this is the earliest i’ve been on any video!
I’ve been waiting for this video! I’m so glad it happened !
I have been using paint markers for warhammer since I started playing. They thought I was mad. I have been patiently waiting for Jazza to come and prove me right!

HOW ARE YALL TYPING 11 HOURS AGO

Probably was postponed for the channel members
It was prob a preview

members.. or they're time travellers 😶
I've never considered using paint markers on miniatures. That's such a fantastic idea, especially for finer or straight-lined details like decals or flag emblems
This is such a classic Jazza video. Nice :J
Poscas have 1M and 1MR markers that are equally fine :P I can get them open stock locally too, so availability really varies I guess. There are a TON of new acrylic paint markers out in the market now…. I would LOVE a mega paint marker comparison! 😅

okay the space bear looked SHOCKINGLY good. fifteen minutes???? Unreal!
This might be the best GM hack that I'm definitely going to look into
8:50 crazy how the 15min one looks better than the one u spent 3hrs on😬
Sharpie now has paint pens as well
Had em for awhile. They leak and pool really bad.
@ThomasinaJefferson-ke7xs had mine a while as well and mine don't leak
Paint markers somehow always feel better or different when I see Jazza using them. Like the Jazza effect or something-
YOOO JAZZA POSTED 🙏🙏🙏
People seem to over look that Posca has an ultra fine range but its nice to see Ohuhu have there own paint pens now.
I think people will be even more likely to ignore them considering you would have to buy two different sets of more expensive markers for the thin tip, ohuhu really is spoiling us with cheap but great quality art supplies
I have some ultra fine posca markers and i HATE them
They don’t always deposit color and the tip tears up the paper
That's good to know! Thanks for the info! ❤🏴@The-one-and-only-Fruitcake
I have a load of the Tooli Art paint pens that have that small plastic nib, worked amazingly on a skateboard I painted for my brother of a bunch of anime characters. It was all natural colours too so loads of shades of green, blue, flesh etc
YAY OHUHU! OHUHU GREAT!
Copic is coming out with paint markers too. I'm looking forward to see a video coming up with them too.
I think Ohuhu might be my favorite word ever.
Same
you forgot mews mouth 😊
a 13:31 commercial. i remember how much I hated 3-45 second commercials so I would change the channel but I just watched a very long marker ad lol.
I mean, he says in the very beginning it is lol.
now what would make this an instant favorite for me would be if they had a brush tip like the arrtx acrylic markers!
My boy Haunter got a piece!
I love this so much 😊😊
What about they’re permanence? Posca and molotow are annoying when working mixed media as they dissolve when water is applied even after drying completely
Wow, you’ve started a new miniature Paint marker craze…😂
Because of this video, I just ordered the pens from Amazon 😊
spot the shiny....
great vid.
I wonder how the white Ohuhu pen is on black paper? White Posca’s didn’t fare too well on black paper in my own experience. I was disappointed! These look lovely, might have to get myself a pack!
Jaw dropped at space bear. 😮🤩
That Sprigatito is shiny
Poscas came out with ultra fine tip markers back in 2016 also they came out with brush tip around that time aswell😊
Honestly, I would get them JUST for those super thin tips ❤
That's my only issue when I use my beloved poscas
Gotta try these
Now we need a “best marker for miniature painting” comparison 😉.
Jazza! There are new markers from a Uk startup "Calm Over Chaos" that came out and they look amazing, I'd love to see you try them out if possible❤️
I been using silver sharpies forever on minis. Maybe the jump to paint pens is the right move. As long as the tips are tiny and can get into small spots.
