Not a perfect illusion but not bad at all. Great first try Jazza! 😁👍 I wouldn't mind you trying this again.
Hmm... I wonder if it might be easier to do if you go mixed media? 🤔 Like, do a quick color lineart with color pencils or markers to get the lineup reference from directly behind the camera, do big blocks of underpainting in acrylic paint so it dries fast and then do the areas that need blending and the details with the oil paints? Might work. 😅
Working fast seems to be the key to doing this right, apart from working during a perfectly overcast day. The camera also needs to be positioned just right from what I can tell, practically right above your shoulder and directly behind you, zoomed to about what you see in front of you. That's tough to get perfect and I suspect everyone else who did the effect had someone else doing that part, lol. It might be easier if you were sitting while painting but I could be wrong. 😳

I love art and having fun with it and I love being creative, but I dont have the skills and I want to get better before I go to school where I know nobody and am in a class I might not be ready for. A cheats way to do it: 1) take a photo of the scene without the canvas on the easel, 3) take a photo with the canvas on the easel, 4) use photoshop to overlay the scene overtop the canvas
    5) use this to paint from as reference as it will have consistent lighting, and its much easier to paint from a 2D picture, than from painting from life. Of course if the goal is to practise painting from life then doing it your way is such great practise! Youve done a fantastic job as always! 😄

If an adult saw jazza walking around like this they would approach him slowly and softly say "hello sweetheart, have you lost your mother, or your group?"

Hi, engineer solution here. You could take a picture of the scene you want to match, then key out the background during the painting sequence. Then wait until the lighting matches the demonstration. Buttery Smooth video.

Dear Jazza, I have been watching your channel for YEARS! Like since before 2016. And I used to watch every single video, I would get so excited to watch each new one. But then somewhere along the line your videos changed. What kept me on the channel: your amazing PERSONALITY, CHARISMA & PASSION was disappearing, replaced by quick editing, loud music & meme-type visual gags. I went chasing your original IT-FACTOR, which brought me to your TableTop channel and your vlog, where the editing wasn’t so brutal. And I continue, to this day, to watch your vlog without watching the main channel because it turns me off so much. But I would just like to say that I LOVED THIS VIDEO, because I don’t feel that it cut out any of your personality. I will try to watch your videos again, if this is any indicator. I am not at all saying this because I think that my tastes should matter to you, but rather because it might reflect a lot of people’s feelings and if it does, hopefully can help your videos succeed

The thumbnails especially have been turning me off because they don’t feel very genuine (the expressions, etc)

A little cheat code with this is you only have the make the very edges match perfectly. From there, it just has to be coherent and realistic. Like you could paint the very edges while out there, then bring home the canvas and finish the painting from home, then return it to the original position and it would still look good.

Really fun to see the process and trying to learn. With just two attempts you made impressive progress, would love to see you continue and see if you can get close to what the really skilled tik-tok artist are managing.
