I know it's the fad and you have to chase the fad of yt to stay relevant...but timu...rilly ...I had respect for you but it's gone now ...never saw you as a slave labor supporter
That's it! You're a scam and you just want to sell us for your profit! You've advertiezed to many SCAMS, and still don't do the minimal research on who you're dealing with. You straight up propagate their lies, and Temu is the worst of them. It steals both personal information and info from other active tabs, it's extremely malicious, and you're supporting it!
Using the watercolor paints which comes in tubes could make the little watercolor palette easier and quicker to setup and then a little more fun. But I have to say it is pretty small. I have purchased small travel art kits but not this small. They were more small tablet size and included everything paints brushes canvases or papers. I don't think I paid more then $25. Just something to have on vacation if the urge or inspiration for art occurs.
I don't understand the above negative comment. You were doing a honest review of inexpensive art materials. It's not like you haven't done things with inexpensive material before. When you did you dollar store or $5 materials video I sure that was China made stuff as well.
@@PhilipLentocha he brought attention to Temu as if it's a normal store and recommended some products from it, without disclosing the danger. This level of negligence would never come from someone who actually cares about his viewers and community.
The little watercolour tray is supposed to be filled with tubed watercolours and you could put a little squared sponge, that is dry, into the small rectangle on left side of the set.
I was just going to say the same. I usually see it used with small sketch books and attached to the other page - then it's not in the way. It's meant to be a light pocket pallet for plein air painting and you really don't need more colours that that. It's a good tool, just for specific situations

The tiny watercolor tray would be nice for nature journaling and sketching while hiking. Instead of breaking up existing paint pots, you could easily use tube watercolors for a personalized portable palette.
I recommend you the Micro Portable Painter. I have mine always by my side. It's the size of a credit card, not very bulky, and fits 6 standard half pans. The space can be divided in up to 16 tiny pans if you buy their special pans. It also has a surprising amount of mixing space. One being able to double as a water tray.
I've also just reactivated my dry pallet, dripped the wet paint into the mini trays, and waited for it to dry. Drying takes a day or so, but it lets me use my entire watercolor collection in my travel pallets.
I used a altoid tin (actually a Fisherman's Friend:a south african losenge brand), filled it with plastic bottle caps (6 fit inside) and then squeezed my tube watercolours into the caps (B/R/Y/B/W) and it gives me immense joy to paint with on the trot!
1. I only use watercolor & take 3 pallets with me everywhere. I've seen those lovely, mini, wooden pallets on Etsy & have wanted one for years, but cannot justify the purchase. 2. Dedicated watercolor artists usually prefer empty pallets so they can choose their favorite paint brands & colors. I can't imagine any watercolor artists who'd prefer the type of paint that would be included with a $9 pallets. 3. Watercolorist fill empty pallets with tube paint & allow them to dry before using them.
Some artists prefer to buy solid pans instead of tubes. I agree that cheap paint in colors you can't choose wouldn't work. Personally, I am in love with the little round ceramic travel palette by ETCHR. I have not used one yet though, and suspect a regular slim palette that I can put my brushes in will be more useful.
@wildflower1397 Yes. I've been a pan lover for years. I'm probably incorrect, but I don't think they sell glitters, metallics & specialty shades like multi chromes in tubes. I like the variety pans offer.
If only he had done it the right way, all would have been fine. These mini pans are for adding tube watercolour to and allowing it to dry in it for future use. NOT destroy other pans lol x
@@WendigovanStudio, that's what I was telling him as I watched. (He can totally hear me...right?) I was so upset. "You're supposed to use tube paints!" Lol...I'd actually buy something like that, though. It's super cute and great for tiny art.
@@MommaMiriglad it wasn't just me, I was shouting at first "just squirt them in there!". The tiny tray is so cute too, I wouldn't use it, because I love colour mixing, but if you could get a couple and make little theme palettes based on tones and subjects, it could be really cool.

The evidence of forced labour, intellectual property theft, privacy concerns, and environmental impact has me pretty certain I'll never purchase anything from Temu
Also. It’s a marketplace that resources direct from manufacturers. Some of those may be shady… some of them might also be making products for other places, even places you might consider legit. The world of capitalism is shady. Workers rights might be shocking in even the most ‘developed' of countries.
That's the complete western world for ya... Let's not look at all cheap labour we exploit in Asia, just so we can change out our wardrobe every second year etc. @@itsgonnabeanaurfromme
So with 10 middlemen instead of two, things are going to become less shady? I agree that those manufacturers produces a lot of garbage, but that's how things used to be - you had a name and a face of the person who made your clothes. And you can't blame capitalism for that - thanks to capitalism you don't have to farm your own wheat to make bread or mining your own iron to eventually make a car. What you have a problem with is probably corporatism which is a lot more like some kind of economical socialism than true Capitalism.@@nickyrowley7681

The issue with Temu is less about the quality of the products and more about how much the app tries to harvest every bit of personal data it can from your device. That's why they try to lure you in with ridiculously cheap offers.
I mean while temu is definitely up there with the worst, everywhere is trying to do that, just don’t give em it, other then web stuff (which I’m not signed in on Google so idk?) temu has nothing from me other than my address and at this point take my data idec anymore 😂
@@lunawilson9848 only problem is they've been known to sniff out information behind the scenes that you yourself don't input and sell it to other companies.
Yep that right there is pretty much the exact reason why I would never want to touch the app and it's not just that, it's also the fact that it goes well beyond the regular data mining, the app had been caught looking at people's pictures, text messages and more. There's a video talking about the manipulation tactics that it uses for the free gift crap. Apparently you'll end up in a pyramid scheme of free gift mania. Because in order to get a free gift you have to introduce a certain amount of people to the app, and they have to basically say you're worthy of getting a free gift. And then you get that first free gift. The next thing you know you have to introduce even more people, and then those people will get their free gift have to do the same. It's a pyramid scheme of customers. There's some alleged stuff like how the prices are so cheap, I'm not sure if this was confirmed or not, but the last time I heard the reason why the prices were so cheap was because they forced the manufacturers of certain products to sell those products at those horribly cheap prices and just suck up the loss. The one thing that was definitely was confirmed was the sister app (don't remember the name at the moment but it will show up if you look up anything about temu.) Was under fire for spying and no I don't mean just the typical spying that everything likes to do now, I'm talking about like spying into your personal life kind of stuff the exact same stuff that temu is accused of. Also did I mention that temu was caught selling things that were directly related to Sweatshop labor? I don't mean this is a alleged thing, this is something you could probably look up on the app if you're brave enough. There is a particular type of silk that is directly related to sweatshops and they sell it as certain products. And they blatantly advertised it. If for whatever reason you can deal with being spied on, the horribly aggressive advertising that is even worse than some other companies in America, there's no way that even if I could put up with all that, that I would ever put up with a company that blatantly sells sweatshop merchandise. I hate seeing their ads, I quite frankly by this point I hate the company. There are other Chinese companies that don't have as many controversies as this one there's too much stuff going on with this app to even think it's safe
6:10 Quite ironic to me that I actually had a bigger version of one of these as a toddler and it was my favorite toy and it actually DID inspire me as a "budding artist" 😂 My earliest memories of drawing come from that board.
Did you ever have the one where it was like a layer of fluorescent vinyl over a hard plastic surface and when you drew with the stylus the lines seemed to glow? You would peel it up to erase and draw again. Reading your comment unlocked this core memory 😂
The water color pallet is great! It doesn’t come with paint so you can choose your own quality and colors of paint. It’s made for artists who paint on the go like me. Instead of bringing my whole mini pallet which is still quite large I can bring that micro pallet
The mini water color pallet is so you can take your stuff on the go and you can customize what colors you want. You would fill the water color wells using tube water color and let it dry (or your own if you make your own paint). You can clip it onto a clip board for solid painting surface while you are on a hike or in a park.
I had an earlier version of the Xenx tablet you showed. I used it during COVID for scribbling things during Zoom classes (I’m a chemistry teacher). It was completely adequate for drawing diagrams for a chemistry lecture, but I can’t imagine trying to do anything precision with it. I also always have a small watercolor box (one of the Windsor and Newton ones) and a pad in my bag, I’ve carried that stupid thing around for 20 years or more, and I use it probably once a year. And I love it.
tbh I think thats where its place in this market is. Cheap, unprecise graphics, like with school work, chemistry, maths etc. Affordable, but not meant for stuff like digital art.
@@Temperans I've been using a huion one for years. Yes, it costs (depending on the day) slightly more to slightly less than twice as much, but it's also at least twice the size and works really well for me (gotten for drawing, being used for sculpting). I think ~50€ still falls under an affordable beginner tablet that can keep up with you for years, no need to go too far.
The tiny water color palate is for the people who like to travel with their art or do on site paintings. It's ideal for a notebook not a block bc it clips to the top of an individual page. Tube watercolor paint or gouache are also better for putting in the trays, and it being open means you can pick out whatever color palate you want to use. It's convenient especially with a pocket notebook of either watercolor or mixed media paper. It is a tool not an art supply if that makes sense. I can understand it's not for everybody but I also think the review in the video was harsh? biased? idk, it felt like a review for an average person and not an artist if that makes sense. I mean no hate at all it's just the vibes I was getting
Yeah, same for the tablet review; The main problem, the jitterness, can be basically negated by using some brush stabilization, with I think most software nowdays include!
@@VJK102 with the tablet i don't think it's really justified to say that the thing is not that bad just because software tends to come with stabilizators... for one, some people use sw that doesn't really have any stabilizator (eg gimp and shit.. third party sw just for stabilization on that is horrible), 2) the hw should even for (or more so - especially) for enewer artists be as welcoming and ready to go as possible since people that are new to the whole digital art thing don't really know what stabilization is and will just be disheartened by the fact that they "suck" when it's the tech going against them.. it's like buying cheap paper and watercolors and expecting it to look and behave the same way schmincke and arches works together when your whole haul was like 3 dollars... cheap tech like that is good if it can actually surprise by working pretty well, but inacurate and jittery drawing tablet is just not it.. at the price point, people can get a second or third hand wacom or xppen that still works really well after a few years and actually get the desired experience
@anetkrausova at the same time, the opposite is also true: I don't believe its justified to call it trash because its sensores are not the best; As you said, its a cheap alternative/entry point;
@@VJK102 that's the thing though, i didn't really mean it as option as an entry point item, i would never recommend anything like that to beginner artists... i went thru starting on cheap alternatives and i was miserable because stuff just wouldn't work.. and yes, my experience isn't universal but generally we all know that harsh beginnings stifle creativity when your material is what pushes you back
@@anetkrausova yeah I agree I probably wouldn't recommend it to a casual hobby artist starting out, but I think the one I got around the same price point was good for me in particular. I can't really afford something that costs as much as my budget pc, so $20 for a tablet is better than drawing with a mouse. I think I'd recommend it to anyone I know is going to continue making art even if they try a new medium and it isn't for them. Expensive supplies don't make you a better artist, practice and skill does. They can make it easier but it doesn't mean they make you better. Like I'm a multimedia artist at my heart and core, love so much of traditional but I also like digital. I will say I don't like the cheap tablet for sketching but I get around that with a traditional sketch I can ink over digitally. All in all it really just depends person to person if it's helpful or not, and it's up to them to gauge if it's worth the risk
I have the mini watercolor pallet and absolutely love it(I like that it comes epmty so I can customize the colors to my needs), I keep it in a mini ikea bag with a mini leather bound journal(1"x2"), mini washi tape(about 3mm), working dollhouse crayons, a mini jar of water and mini paint brushes I made out of toothpicks. BUT.. with that being said, I am mostly a miniature artist. I started out doing acrylic paintings on finger nails... so having everything I need for random creativity fit in my pocket is absolutely amazing..
Oh….what a splendid idea of keeping it the mini IKEA bag. I really love mine too. It’s so perfect. I just need to make a little watercolor book to go along with it with my arches paper 😊
13:58 “I’ve never thought to myself “hey I wish I had a portable watercolor set with me right now!” but maybe there are people who do that.” Yes there are! Many of us. I personally don’t love the tiny pallets with just 8 colors because I need mixing room. I’m still trying to figure out how to make plein air painting work. I’m not one for talking to strangers or for anyone to be looking over my shoulder.
I would recommend you just a normal small tin container (like those who Jazza broke) with your own favourite brand of half pans. No black and white. You have a lot of mixing space in them, and they are fitting even in the back pocket of jeans. There are foldable regular brushes or container brushes, you can easily keep. So there is actually no need for this tiny pallets. Especially when you are hiking. You will run out of colour soon.
You could buy some watercolor pans and hot glue them into an empty Altoids tin! It would give you space to mix colors on the inside of the lid (which you could paint white and varnish so the colors would show up accurately). You could make compartments with a few layers of hot glue lines, and a water tray on the paint side with a piece of plastic hot-glued in and all gaps sealed with more glue. There might be some space on top of the paint pots for some other stuff--maybe a collapsible brush, a bit of sponge, short pencil, thin or kneadable eraser, etc. You know what, I might just have to make one of these to see what it's like 😂
I'm not sure if I'd be confident to spend any money on Temu. I'd rather go to a local store and know I could be face to face with a person for advice and help. Great video to watch though, I was curious to see the outcome 👍
@tomcat5151 true, it's a bit of a minefield, and China is not the only country engaged in modern slavery for the production of consumer products sold in the USA. Some designer brands that you pay out the nose for use south Asian slave labor. Temu is just kind of blatant about how cheaply they can produce things so in a way promotes slavery on a psychological level too.
Just a comment on washing art supplies/work trays in the sink at home: If it's solid when dry (acrylic skins, or wet or dry oil globs) DON'T. Plumbers are expensive, and the fish won't be happy with the chemicals. Wipe or scrape those mediums into a piece of waste paper. Wipe as much as you can off the tray/mat with a cello sponge or paper towel. Then, if it needs washing, wash it in a plastic pail or tub. Let the solids settle. Pour off the water. Wipe up the pail/tub, put the wipe in the trash.
I have the mini wooden watercolor palette with 15 cups and is the size of my palm. I always use Arteza tubes and just squeeze the amount I need into them. LOVE using it when I'm out on walks or traveling. Done a lot of travel journals and 4in x 6in canvas panels for my bookshelves. Although I got mine from AliExpress, it was 8 dollars. It's definitely been my best creative companion for about four years now. 😁
Temu and Wish are in the same vein and the fact that people shun Wish but are like "oh that Temu place is pretty cool!" just shows what good advertising can do lol It's terrifying to say the least.
@@lbell1703he literally dabbles in almost every art medium plus that seems like common sense... (no hate tho, just felt bad as an artist on a budget seeing all these art supplies ruined or wasted. The paper, the pans, the pencils)

I have just dipped a toe into the Temu ocean. I bought a set of 36 double ended acrylic markers and an A4 canvas oil/acrylic pad to try a little relaxation painting to chill of an evening with a tray on my lap, a glass of wine and a chocolate bar to hand, sound cancelling earbuds with relaxing sounds while wife watches something on TV that doesn't appeal. Oh and snoring cats too. Trying to get me off screens before bed time. My own little world. Also a cooking oil spray to satisfy my cooking gadget fetish. For a while. Nothing that will break the bank but to learn how Temu fares against AliExpress and BangGood. So far I must say the the Temu website works very well, fast and well organised, better than the other two.
The portable watercolour palette is adorable and you should have used tube paint to fill it instead of destroying your half pans. And yes, lots of watercolour artists like having portable palettes with them. I have a (much more expensive and better quality) mini palette and love it. 😁
This. I would never use it with dry paints either but it's fir putting your own on-the-go plein-air palette together. I'm glad they don't come with some cheap quality paints in it already.
It annoys me whenever Jazza negatively reviews anything watercolor related. I know it's not his thing, so it's slightly frustrating when he blames a product when he's using it incorrectly or fails to see its true purpose.
@@Eovielle…now if only Jazza were learning. I unsubscribed a few years ago after yet another inaccurately used watercolor palette project… and in how many years since, he STILL hasn’t learned? 😒
If I'm allowed to share my personal experience: I have the >Holzreisemalpalette Mit 15 Rastern< basically the wooden palette with 15 wells. I did not clip it to my sketchbook, but when I did a course on watercolour (using my tubepaint to fill the wells) it was easy to carry and worked quite well. So if you 'want' to enjoy something like this, go with a bigger version and buy some aquarell tubes. You can even go with the primary colours and pre-mix them in the wells. Also, I oiled mine so it wouldn't warp with the water. Great video. Thanks for sharing your experience.
I have never seen anybody chop apart their water color pans to fill another pallet. You couldn't find any watercolor tubes on Temu ??😂😂 And I know you have some gouche tubes somewhere
TEMU has been good for me, art supplies so far have met my expectations! Mostly bought marker type items, metallics, gold and slivers, fine cutting pens, Copic type markers (a few were dried up) but worked as well as my regular ones! I found it was important to check sizes and descriptions! It a little addictive!
For the price as somebody who does do watercolor on the go, I feel like $10 is pretty reasonable for that. Im curious how much it weighs cuz I do watercolor when I go backpacking. So I could probably get some use out if it. Also usually you wouldn't destroy a pallet like that. It's more for watercolor that's in tubes. Which is probably the most cost-effective way to buy it anyway.
They are a bit heavy I think. What work best for me backpacking are the Art Toolkit ones, which are actually made for that purpose! I've used the thinner plastic ones too, but I like the flatness better. I have the pocket palette for the most ultralight option, but prefer to use the folio size for the increased mixing area. I toss it in a ziplock bag with a mechanical pencil, travel paintbrush, Sea2Summit x-cup in the shotglass size, and a Lamy Safari for my most minimal kit. I do a waterbrush off and on but prefer a regular brush.
Am I the only one that takes a full 48 halfpan watercolorpallet in my backpack? Always so scared I use them up... even after 5 years it still half full. Can't leave without my half-and-half of 48 colors... 😂 It's in my hardback and it goes everywhere with me. Using such a small pallet would give me anxiety 😂😂😂. What if I am out of a colour 😮
I have the same pencil extender and i can safely say that it is definitely of a good quality. I cannot comment on the value as it came as part of an artist kit which was gifted to me
There’s plenty of colors and sizes available (from postcard-sized to A3), think what you need it to do and go from there. I bought a pink mat first, but then I found red one with little dips for paints and soon realized white would be better, since I use it as a palette too. Now I have like ten different ones.. yeah. Awesome for holding things in place, I have one under sewing machine pedal. Some are two-sided, one slick and shiny, one matte and less slippy (matters with clay or resin projects). Also, they take nearly any form of punishment I have come up with, and Im pretty creative in destruction, just superglue and sharp objects are best to keep away (also means you can cut them to smaller pieces and attach them with superglue). Some paints are easier to remove while still wet, some I let dry. My favorite feature, as a messy/absentminded person: it wont crease. I don’t even know why I love it so much, it’s just delightful to find one all balled up and it just bounces back, ready for more :) Ps. Check baking isles for cheap surprises!
Not everyone had the disposable income to buy from ones own country. If I tried buying stuff „made in Germany“ solely, I‘d have a massive problem. Production in high-income countries is many times more expensive, as are all products. And MANY products are not produced here anymore for that exact reason (welcome to capitalism). Even things that are „madeä here, are often just assembled here from parts from somewhere else. In a globalised world economy it’s completely impossible for the average person in a „highly developed“ country to buy from one’s own country (also nations are made up things, nothing is automatically better just because it’s made in Germany).
to be fair, most of stuff on Temu is items they did not design but copied, and you can find different seller of the same item and thus different name on the same item as well on the site. So have in mind stuff on Temu is often stolen designs and budget version of them. But I'm sure they can surprise you as well with greatness. Just have some salt in mind when browsing, and defiantly try to understand the dimentions of the thing before buying. Its like amazon sometimes, some do have dimension in a picture somewhere. There been several who thought they found the cheapest clothes or furniture and got doll and doll house version. Then its China, who knows what labor they using, some sweatshop etc. have that in mind too.
Also, it helps to read their reviews before purchasing. Some reviews are plain out brutally honest. And those can help to make or break a deal anywhere. Temu, even on Amazon, for that matter. Helps when blind buying products of ANY kind.
@@nilawarriorprincess definitely, I have one from an Etsy shop and it came with a little note and a roll of washi tape, which I loved. So much nicer than buying from some corporation.
Many many of the suppliers on Amazon do the exact same thing - They're from China and have copied legit products - some just more cheaply, and others with totally rotten products that are worthless. So Temu is an upstart Amazon

Agreed, and if people need a selfish reason not to engage; they also have a really bad reputation for being a major privacy/security risk, so don't install their app, and don't give them your credit card info.
I mean, so is basically any chocolate producer or clothing brand. Most of the cheaper stuff we buy from more reputable stores probably comes from the same factory as the Temu products.
@@w1zady While not the same factory, so many do have their own labour/sustainability issues; issues which are significant enough that we should avoid purchasing from them also. Temu is just up at the top with the worst with them.
Please provide reliable reporting on this for proof. A lot of sites have agendas and misinformation about practically ANY overseas merchants, for whatever reason they want. A reputable link or search would do wonders for people, rather than just making a claim with nothing.
Temu is also known for stealing designs from designers and artists and copying them for their own profit. There are also allegations of unfair labour practices that would explain the cheapness of the prices, not the mention all the controversy around the company trying to steal your personal information. They also create a lot of environmental waste from the huge expanse of items that they create and sell. other than that great vid
I would say the same probably holds for the Amazon products coming from China - they're probably made by the same mfgr there, and just sold under different labels - so anything that is carried by Amazon that looks the same as that from Temu most likely has the same problems and concerns that you stated above.
The problem is that you're giving money and data to the actively-hostile CCP. Temu is no different from any of the other chinese d2c sites, and would still be bad even without the problems you listed purely from where the money is going to.
Every company steals designs and whatnot, from everyone. Mostly everyone. Amazon, aliexpress, Europris, HM, Cubus, Primark, W7, etc. Dupes, copies . Good video by the way 😊. I love art!
Keep in mind TEMU is just the distributer! The merchandise comes from a large variety of companies! All of the other concerns are the same as buying from Walmart or Amazon! If you use an iPhone or iPad your personal information is out there anyway, it how it’s used that bothers me!
I bought one of the mini wood pallets from eBay it has more holes so could get more range of colours. I really like it for traveling but I already had tubes of watercolor so I just squeezed out a few colours so much smaller than carrying all of the tubes and a pallet and less waste and it made me do some art as it was there already set up. I'm still figuring out the water brush though.

Sooo normally you fill travel kits with tubes and let it dry haha. Works with gouache or watercolour or even with some inks that are not waterproof. The point is to carry what is most useful to you from your favourite brands or your own mixes, even. It goes well paired with a waterbrush and a cloth in a ziplock bag. I keep those in my bag with my sketchbook, it comes with me everywhere, but you can do something similar by painting on a piece of coated paper.
I do like small and easy to take along waterolorboxes and been thingking about getting that mini version of it and fill it with tube quache. Waterbrushes were awesome invention "back in the day" when they came to be as it meant it was easy to load them up at home, pack things in a bag in case of an artsy urges. Next spring and summer I do plan to get out of the house and wander around bit more and take photos and stop for a bit just to doodle and paint. I could see myself using that miniset clipping it on a sketchbook and unclicpping it and wrapping things up quickly too in case it would start to rain for example. With that also I guess pairing it with something very high pigmented paints would be a good choice as you wouldn't be running out of paint anytime soon in case of either forgetting to pack up the tubes to refill it on the go or simply not having space to bring bring them with you. It could be a nice little art challenge to paint something with only that amount of paint. ^^ My concerns about Temu is how much data harvesting and selling they are doing on the side. Probably there's also next cheap online supermarket platform coming.
I love Temu for no name disposable items, like hammocks and beds for my pet rats. I've bought things that are identical, down to the fabric, to things I've gotten at local pet stores and Amazon for half the price. It's also good for mid range watercolors and pads of paper. Overall, it's not bad, so long as you're not expecting to get amazing quality for 90% off standard retail. There are good deals there, but rarely amazing ones.
I've gotten costumes and dresses that are the exact same products, same photos and all, as stocked in other places for sometimes $20 as opposed to $200 for some of the dresses. Best costume I picked up was 2B, same as sold on every other site, for about 1/3 the price with some extra boots as anywhere else ($50 with boots as opposed to $80 without)
I've actually bought quite a bit of stuff from Temu. People complain about size and stuff but that's all very clearly stated in the descriptions. Temu just cuts out the middle man which is why they're so inexpensive. I've done price comparisons with another site and found that the items were EXACTLY the same at a fraction of the cost on Temu. Granted, I won't buy anything super expensive but have found that their silicone molds for resin or eco pours are great, I have not had an issue with any of them. They're also great for embellishment items such as charms, glitter, foils and such. All in all, if I can spend less on the exact same product, I will. I don't think the site does any more harvesting of information than any of the other shopping sites do. Thank you, Jazza for another great review. You sir, are amazing!
I have a portable watercolor set from Wish - I've seen the same one on Shein and Temu - and it's surprisingly nice. I like to throw it in my purse to use in my journal. It has 48 colors and came with a water brush
The mat was probably intended for kids as in the picture so they don't ruin their parent's dining table which is nice. I mean if it can get glue and regular paint off a kid is safe. And the table is safer.
The tiny walnut palette is great for Plein Air excursions. We’re always looking for something small enough that it can go in a pocket or small bag. The idea behind it (and reason you see a lot of landscape examples with them) is having a tiny kit and a small moleskin journal or small watercolor pad is being able to do a quick “sketch” of a scene and have colors blocked out so you can use it as a reference when you’re home or working on the larger piece in the field.
Hey :( I love my pad drawing tablet! It's Wacom and acctually is also $50. The best thing is that you don't have to constantly lean to the tablet to draw, and with spinal arthrosis at 20's it is a reeeeeally big deal. It's been a lifesaver and definitely the most fun I've had while drawing!
I have the app on my phone, but have only looked at clothes. I had no idea they anything else. I’m impressed with the glass dipping pen and would like to try it out with my own art. Also, I had zero data on electronic art pads. So I’m glad I got data about this. Thank you so much for this information!
I've never bought anything from Temu, but I've definitely been curious, so I appreciate your review of these products. Thanks, Jazza! Edit: Thanks, everyone, for pointing out there are concerns about the company's practices. Good to know!
The price you pay for temu is not dollars, but your information. So if you are okay with that, then definitely order there. If you are not, I would reconsider
Jazza, you can fill the mini wc palette by squeezing wc paint from tubes then leave overnight to dry. Or, you can activate your pan paints with a lot of water and when they're butter consistency scoop some into the mini palette & leave to dry overnight.
I think that I will definitely look at that silicone mat for when my grandson comes over and wants to do art with Grandmom as well as that glass dip pen I have been looking to get one inexpensively to try it out. Thank you so much for doing this with you in the past the things that I have purchased from Temu have been incredibly good quality and I've given them as gifts.
I am obsessed with portable watercolor sets! And I have bought waaaaaay too many! I love being out and about, and seeing something and thinking “ oh I want to paint that” and taking a photo just isn’t the same. There’s a whole group of people called “Urban Sketchers” who take portable drawing/ watercolor kits with them for the express purpose of capturing their daily travels on paper….. and there are those watercolor artists that do plein air paintings…..and some of their kits are very small… Sometimes think there is this huge unspoken competition to use the smallest possible watercolor kit…..because some of the kits are ….well ,tiny and look totally unusable except by leprechauns! Usually, for me, the only way I can really tell if some piece of art gear will work for me is to buy it, stock it up wirh expensive watercolor paint and go out and use it. And I have been very frequently seduced by gear that looks just ….sooooo sexy and awesome , and is totally impractical for me, just doesn’t work for my style of painting, etc…. I’m a real sucker for this kind of thing…..I’m always on the quest for the “ Perfect portable Painting kit” …..and it’s always that next bit of gear that promises to be “IT” . Lol! I can’t tell you have many kits that I’ve bought that doesn’t work for me….. it’s all very individual…..painting styles, subject of the painting , the weight of the kit you carry…..and so on…
That tiny palette is designed for tube paints & is brilliant for plen air painting. I take mine on walks & hikes as Australia is beautiful & sometimes there's only minutes to capture a moment that can then be expanded into a full sized painting back home. Sunset clouds are my particular bane (they're so incredibly difficult for me!) to paint from memory, so I love having a little pocket palette that fits into a bum bag or cargo pants pocket with just a little dropper of water & a bottle cap as a rinsing cup! (learned that trick from Stuart Loughridge)
for the drawing tablet, i have to admit i really expected more for that price because there's brands out there with really decent beginner tablets like that for like half the price. i think you did something like that before but maybe an updated comparison would be an interesting video? as for buying from temu in general, from what i understand, they are even worse than wish or shein when it comes to ethics and that is really saying something, so i would personally never shop there. as someone who doesn't have a lot of money, i don't judge people who occasionally shop at any of these places but i do have to say, it makes me feel a little uncomfortable when it's bigger accounts and especially those clothes influencers with their 1000 dollar hauls and stuff. and i know, me shopping at primark when i need to replace some ripped clothes probably isn't much better but sometimes it's just not possible to pay 50 bucks for a tshirt
Like my parents and grandparents use to say: 'You get what you pay for." and with some of those items, not even worth the money and time you spend on TEMU trying to find what you want.
I was one of the "don't need expensive supplies to make great art!" people, then I bought some expensive watercolour paints and brushes and found out I can make decent art! Before that I just enjoyed the process and figured I wasn't great which was why my output was super average, I would keep painting for fun, and not progress in skill. Now my skill is progressing and im pretty sure the quality of product has seriously helped. You reviewed a couple of things (silicone pad for acrylics and painting with the kids, dip pens, and wood pallette) I have on my AliExpress wishlist, i think I'd go ahead and buy all three now!
You don't need expensive art supplies, but it does help making good art easier. For instance, I can use Crayola crayons to make a fairly good piece of art, if I want to spend lots of time, multiple layers and deal with the lack of pigmentation, but it a lot easier with my caran d'ache neocolour 2s, which have more pigmentation and are easier to lay down
I'm often suspicious of stuff that is so unbelievably cheap. I can't help but ask myself: "how much are they paying to their employees?" "where are they getting such cheap prices for their materials?" "who is paying for the real full cost of the thing?" "what's the quality of their waste-water or waste-fumes/air treatment?" (do they even have any?)
i just started shopping temu i have made 5 orders so far ,only art stuff mostly ,i love almost everything i got,the prices have been much lower than amazon,if you dont mind waiting a week or two its worh it,very good at tracking your order ,i love your channel
There were things I might have bought (e.g., the tablet - I'm carefully looking around) and was glad you did the spending for us. I would rather purchase through Temu than pay more for the same stuff at [insert any store whose threshold I don't cross]. I wouldn't buy a wedding gown there, but I've ordered and received a few things - some stencils, some silicone cups, cheap brushes for masking glue - that are about as good as I expected. (You get what you pay for.) Buyer beware: some of the items are far less expensive through Amazon Warehouse.
@Baizhus I don't it's what I've heard from youtuber's covering that topic such as Someordinarygamers and Moistcritikal, It's also pretty foggy so I can't say I remember the details.
@@Baizhus my source is my aunt falling for temu, getting her card/bank account almost emptied and the only thing the bank could point to was temu (she was insured, she got it back). so "scandal" or not - first hand (or I guess, 2nd hand but I helped so.. 1.5 hand?) experience speaks for itself. also turns out that the bank has had NUMEROUS issues with temu and have it listed as a fraudulent company.
I personally do have a portable water color set, which I really really love and have pulled out on a number of occasions while I am traveling, however it is much larger than that tiny version, it DID come with its own colors and even a collapsible brush and the only thing I had to supply where the water and the paper.. So I am very happy with it
Pencil extender: I use one of like that for a couple of years now (that was from ebay), and it is really nice, when your pencil becomes only a couple of centimeters long.
I have a $5 Canadian silicon mat, intened to go in the oven under the botton element to catch drips and what not. Makes it easier to clean. I keep it on my desk, usually working beside it so not the mess up my project. I have an old salsa jar for water. It works for me. This mat is stained and beginning to wear out. I've had it probably more than 10 years. My favourite thing to clean off it is acrylic paint. I often use it as a palette to mix my colours. When I'm done I just leave it for a day or two, until the paint is fully dried. Then I peel it off. It's cool. 🤪🤣 Edit to specify CD
The biggest problem that I have with Temu isn't their products... it's the people who leave reviews without actually using the item. 5 stars to say that they received the item and "can't wait to use it!" Or the people who rate the item 1 star because the package never arrived, or that they didn’t get what they thought they ordered because they didn't read the item's description. Honestly, if it isn't rated at least 4.5 stars, you probably don't want it.
literally same shit on amazon and plenty of "reputable" platforms, that do dropshipping disguised as genuine commerce, while reselling shit from the very same manufacturers.
I saw a palette similar to the walnut one on Amazon, but because it was made of wood and is used for keeping watercolors and I live someplace that gets very hot in the summer, I didn't want to buy it and risk warping the wood or having it get moldy. Also, rinsing it or cleaning the pans would be tough to do because there are no removable pans, you'd have to wash that entire half of the palette. There were also some complaints about the magnets' strength (lack thereof) to keep the box closed when not in use. I DO like to paint/sketch outside when I can, and I appreciate when my art supplies take up minimal space and are easy to use. My favorite things to paint are usually out in nature, and the smaller and more lightweight the kit, the happier I am to use it. So instead, I opted for a less-expensive ($12 USD) metal palette box that was about the same size and came with a much larger alligator clip than the wooden one had, with a strong magnet mounted on it, to allow me to magnetically stick my palette to the paper pad I use. I also chose, for about $20 USD, a 3-pack of watercolor sketchbooks that are 4 inches by 4 inches. They're the perfect size to fit one in my pencil pouch with my water brushes (the fillable Pentel kind), a mechanical pencil, and the palette. The sketchbook has handled quite a few layers of watercolor paint and some watercolor pencils and ink (Tombow pen) quite nicely with zero buckling or warping, and the other side of the paper is still perfectly usable. The palette I got has removable pans so I can wash them without getting the metal box all wet. I didn't want to have to be too delicate in handling the palette so even though it's smaller than an Altoids tin, it seems pretty sturdy. It clamps shut sturdily but isn't hard to pry open. I just used some cheap paint tubes I had laying around so I could practice watercoloring first (I'm a bit rusty) before springing for nicer paint. For the size of sketchbookbook I have, the amount of paint that fits in the palette is PLENTY. The pans are bigger than the wooden one. If anyone wants names of the products (I got all of them from Amazon) I'll update!
I found an INCREDIBLE value in Temu, when I scored a roll (14.5" x 393") of 100% cotton BAO HONG hot press watercolor paper for less than $15! A roll of Arches (mind you, instead of being 14" tall, theirs are 22"), of the same weight is over $200..and I got free shipping! Astonishing. I went back to order a block of cold press, two packs of blank postcards, and a pack of sheets. Highly recommend Temu for buying brands you're familiar with. Anything else is questionable. I did order several drawing tools which should be in by the end of January so hopefully I can remember to come back here and report on the quality.
@_..Bella.._ hey Bella! Ive has a chance to play with everything and so far so good for the most part. Drafting tools are calibrated correctly. Paper isn't as good as the Masters Choice line from Bao Hong but it is the academy line, so. I guess its down to the quality of the cotton fibers? And while it's a great Arches like quality practice paper, it's not sized quite as hard so there's a learning curve. The only tangible issue I have is with the post cards. They were printed on the wrong side as far as i can tell. Zooming out, I'm thinking more about the issues others here are reporting about Temu and it's giving me the ick. Due to these issues I'm unlikely to order here again. I'm not by any means wealthy but I don't financially HAVE to shop here for supplies. If money stands between you and art, then absolutely do what you have to do to keep art in your life. That's my takeaway, 11 days later.
@@morgenmachen2400 glad to know that majority of it went well except the post cards. For me, temu isnt trust worthy enough to put bank card info into so we opted for cash on delivery so that they cant get access to the account.
Thank you for that tip and for answering Bella (and me 😉) back. As I was reading I was thinking exactly what she asked about. Placed an order yesterday and probably going to ad to it. Here by us art supplies prices are sô horrendous that art is definitely a luxury 😢. Larga in Souf Efrica.
I have had a great experience with TEMU for about a year now...personally my current skillset with watercolors, sewing, embroidery does not warrant spending hundreds of dollars on supplies...if you have the resources to purchase the high end supplies...GO FOR IT...if you are not there yet, then TEMU is a great option ...and maybe its just me, but the art you created looked pretty good...i wouldnt expect an item that is clearly made for a toddler to give me a "Picasso" finish...maybe its just me....
I actually have a pretty good hack for your short pencils you can get some cheap pencil top erasers the cone ones and you can stack them up together and put them on the end of your pencil and it acts like a pencil extender, also great video!💕😊
For a tiny portable watercolor set Ive got CMY and black WC tiny tubes In a tiny plastic $2 container. The container holds the tubes and the lid van be detached used as a little pallet. You can make many colors on the go and the tubes go a long way.
for the trace screen, would recommend doing it in the dark with brightness up so you can see the lines more clearly, just remember to take a break now and then.
It definitely is hit or miss. I have had some good things, others I've returned, or tossed when they sent me a refund and said I didn't have to return it. As for the ethics, all the money goes to China, none to local retailers, it doesn't support your local economy in any way. Plus the descriptions can be outright lies - clothes will say "linen" then when you dig down to really look it says "100% polyester." Photos are made so that if you don't really check dimensions things appear way bigger than they really are - especially made to look like things that are available to us from our local retailers, but are much much smaller.
I had one of those little watercolor sets for when I was backpacking for months and had to conserve space. It was amazing to have because I could still paint wherever I went without compromising my limited space. I basically dont use the palette now that I’m home though 😅

He's puting everyone 's private data and identity in danger. That is extremely irresponsible. He didn't have to mention those were from Temu, just say it's from China, but the whole point of the video is TEMU. This level of negligence would never come from someone who actually cares about his viewers and community.
The little watercolour tray is supposed to be filled with tubed watercolours and you could put a little squared sponge, that is dry, into the small rectangle on left side of the set.
it still garbage compared to the fan model that get far more colors, can hold a water-pen and not strap to your paper wasting the format.
I was just going to say the same. I usually see it used with small sketch books and attached to the other page - then it's not in the way. It's meant to be a light pocket pallet for plein air painting and you really don't need more colours that that. It's a good tool, just for specific situations

Ditto!
It's for nail art they already mentioned it
I used a altoid tin (actually a Fisherman's Friend:a south african losenge brand), filled it with plastic bottle caps (6 fit inside) and then squeezed my tube watercolours into the caps (B/R/Y/B/W) and it gives me immense joy to paint with on the trot!
Love the video but the category system is missing a sustainability column
Great response!
@@lisamessina5952 Thanks!
Some artists prefer to buy solid pans instead of tubes. I agree that cheap paint in colors you can't choose wouldn't work. Personally, I am in love with the little round ceramic travel palette by ETCHR. I have not used one yet though, and suspect a regular slim palette that I can put my brushes in will be more useful.
agreed!
@wildflower1397 Yes. I've been a pan lover for years. I'm probably incorrect, but I don't think they sell glitters, metallics & specialty shades like multi chromes in tubes. I like the variety pans offer.
Watching jazza defile a perfectly good watercolour pan to break into sections caused me pain 😭
Me too, I have to skip. I mean, I do the tube to pan thing for cost saving, but still.....
@@MommaMiriglad it wasn't just me, I was shouting at first "just squirt them in there!". The tiny tray is so cute too, I wouldn't use it, because I love colour mixing, but if you could get a couple and make little theme palettes based on tones and subjects, it could be really cool.
also him using a sharpener to shorten 2 perfectly good pencils down instead of just taking one, breaking it in half, and then sharpening the broken ends to get 2 short pencils
The evidence of forced labour, intellectual property theft, privacy concerns, and environmental impact has me pretty certain I'll never purchase anything from Temu
Same goes for Amazon, Facebook, Disney. Pseudoenvironmentalism is rampant when people claim to be against pollution while supporting youtube

Also, just because we're on the topic of hypocrisy, aren't YOU on TH-cam?
I think both are the major issues.
They are also very low in morality with things like labor. Their practices are very questionable on that front.
Reminds me of the MagnaDoodle.
The water color pallet is great! It doesn’t come with paint so you can choose your own quality and colors of paint. It’s made for artists who paint on the go like me. Instead of bringing my whole mini pallet which is still quite large I can bring that micro pallet

@@Goldi-Luclol you say that like Amazon, Google and specifically meta don’t steal all your data and sell it to anyone that wants it but omg Temu
I think that for a cheap thing to get started with its okay. But if you want to go all out you should go for a full on tablet and not skimp on price.
tbh I think thats where its place in this market is. Cheap, unprecise graphics, like with school work, chemistry, maths etc. Affordable, but not meant for stuff like digital art.

Yeah, same for the tablet review;
The main problem, the jitterness, can be basically negated by using some brush stabilization, with I think most software nowdays include!
@anetkrausova at the same time, the opposite is also true: I don't believe its justified to call it trash because its sensores are not the best;
As you said, its a cheap alternative/entry point;
13:58 “I’ve never thought to myself “hey I wish I had a portable watercolor set with me right now!” but maybe there are people who do that.”
Yes there are!
Yep, any time I have must be used for art. I need portable supplies.
I feel the same and am concerned about the ethics of products on temu. I really don't want to feed into modern slavery.
I don't trust temu about I heard they said temu is scams
I ordered once but I did it through PayPal to be extra safe.
@@chandrasunnya not insignificant amount if products on the market (in the US) are made in china anyway....
Thank you for this! I took a screen shot of it. Wish I'd had it a couple of months ago, but it will save me more problems.
…coming to the comments to ask why Jazza didn’t use tube watercolors for the mini palette!?
I dont know how he doesnt know that
Bc he doesn't specialize in watercolor 😂? Just because he's a famous artist doesn't mean he knows everything about art lmao
@@lbell1703he literally dabbles in almost every art medium plus that seems like common sense... (no hate tho, just felt bad as an artist on a budget seeing all these art supplies ruined or wasted. The paper, the pans, the pencils)

@@lbell1703 it is if you're an artist. I paint like 3-4 times a year, mostly with acrylics, but even I know that watercolor comes in tubes and pans, because it fucking shows up when you shop for paint online.
Living in a small town in Africa, Temu is a blessing for art supplies & other.
Thank you Jazza for sacrificing your personal info in the name of creativity ❤
So far I must say the the Temu website works very well, fast and well organised, better than the other two.
omg that cooking oil spray is sooo good!! thats one of my favourite things from temu lmaao
Acrylic pens are also great for drawing on wood and rocks! I spray Rustoleum enamel on them afterward to preserve them.
@@nilawarriorprincess making mistakes is how we learn :) it's part of the process and journey.
@Eovielle ??? What does that have to with the price of tea in Timbuktu?

He's chaos incarnate.
SAME.....
I do a waterbrush off and on but prefer a regular brush.
they have the same thing for 4 dollars on amazon though lol
@@checkerspotfarm3927 I have the small wood watercolor palette from amazon (4 dollars) and it's really not heavy at all.
Am I the only one that takes a full 48 halfpan watercolorpallet in my backpack? Always so scared I use them up... even after 5 years it still half full. Can't leave without my half-and-half of 48 colors... 😂
It's in my hardback and it goes everywhere with me. Using such a small pallet would give me anxiety 😂😂😂. What if I am out of a colour 😮

I have the same pencil extender and i can safely say that it is definitely of a good quality. I cannot comment on the value as it came as part of an artist kit which was gifted to me
While I probably won't get it from Temu, I am definitely gonna look into getting one of those silicone mats. That looks useful as heck! :)
I don’t even know why I love it so much, it’s just delightful to find one all balled up and it just bounces back, ready for more :)
Ps. Check baking isles for cheap surprises!
Just but a plain silicone mat cut to your size, cheaper and washes clean
Even if you buy it from a well known store, it all comes from the same factories. Sad, but true. Just buy things made in your own country.
@@leaholson33 Most "made in USA" stuff is just assembled in the USA from components made in China.
I started my digital art journey on a Note 4. The next after that was the Huion 13 display tablet. Shout out for the recommendation btw!
to be fair, most of stuff on Temu is items they did not design but copied, and you can find different seller of the same item and thus different name on the same item as well on the site.
Yes, I've seen those watercolor pallets in Etsy for years, so I know for sure they steal from small businesses.

That watercolor palette is everything. I love to go around with drawing supplies and i'm always looking for things that are small and portable so it would be great!!
FYI Temu is under investigation for slave labor. i would not recommend buying anything else from them from a moral standpoint.
@Baizhus I mean they also steal your information which has been proven
@@alicejump2290 The concerns are not the same, as the CCP doesn't own walmart or amazon.
I'm still figuring out the water brush though.
jazza!! I STILL use your old brushpack from time to time, love how great your content has evolved, thanks for inspiring me to keep going on my art career :)
about the magnet toy you reviewed, i'm pretty sure all of them are like that. the lines are always very thick and not great for art, but for a kid the gimmick and the feel is very nice. I have a portable watercolor set, but it’s a little packet of paper squares that have dehydrated water color on them in a pencil case with some water brushes and pens. Fun to take on vacations!
My concerns about Temu is how much data harvesting and selling they are doing on the side. Probably there's also next cheap online supermarket platform coming.
Oh great...my info stolen by Temu?? Anybody else have trouble with them "doubling up" items in/between orders?
I love Temu for no name disposable items, like hammocks and beds for my pet rats. I've bought things that are identical, down to the fabric, to things I've gotten at local pet stores and Amazon for half the price. It's also good for mid range watercolors and pads of paper. Overall, it's not bad, so long as you're not expecting to get amazing quality for 90% off standard retail. There are good deals there, but rarely amazing ones.
Can't really expect high quality from child slavery.
OMG JAZZA - I grew up watching your videos! It’s been a few years but you are the reason I continue my artistic hobbies til this day ❤
The tiny walnut palette is great for Plein Air excursions.
Be careful ordering from Temu. My card info got stolen off of there, and I've heard several similar stories

Lol!
I can’t tell you have many kits that I’ve bought that doesn’t work for me….. it’s all very individual…..painting styles, subject of the painting , the weight of the kit you carry…..and so on…
I really love how informational and funny jazza can make these videos. Very helpful btw
Do more of temu!! So many strange random things on it. I buy allot of craft things on it. I love it. Awesome video!
I mean I don't know if you heard of the TEMU scandal. Just sayin ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@@IcuTapIcu I mean, its a 'scandal' on certain sects, because a lot of people claiming this are misinformed. Where's your source?
It's cool. 🤪🤣
Edit to specify CD
I actually had a magnet tablet with 4 collors like this. My sister liked a lot, but she was 4
You are just a big cuddlebuddy. I am having a really hard time at the moment and this just lightened up my day. Thank you so much!
Honestly, you don't want anything on Temu.
literally same shit on amazon and plenty of "reputable" platforms, that do dropshipping disguised as genuine commerce, while reselling shit from the very same manufacturers.
I did order several drawing tools which should be in by the end of January so hopefully I can remember to come back here and report on the quality.
its a child labor sweatshop. dont buy from them.
lemme know how it held up
@_..Bella.._ hey Bella!
The title shouldn’t have a question mark in it. Art + Temu = regret. PERIOD😌✌🏻
Just get used items. Ebay is full of stuff from people who dabbled and then didn't end up picking up a specific hobby. No need to feed the beast.
I actually have a pretty good hack for your short pencils you can get some cheap pencil top erasers the cone ones and you can stack them up together and put them on the end of your pencil and it acts like a pencil extender, also great video!💕😊
13:44 you are suppose to use squeeze water color paint
For a tiny portable watercolor set Ive got CMY and black WC tiny tubes In a tiny plastic $2 container. The container holds the tubes and the lid van be detached used as a little pallet. You can make many colors on the go and the tubes go a long way.
I liked that it was unsponsored and the reviews were clearly legit. You don't see that a lot on TH-cam these days. LOL
for the trace screen, would recommend doing it in the dark with brightness up so you can see the lines more clearly, just remember to take a break now and then.
Not the "xanax" 😭😂
I love Temu and have ordered many items between art and craft supplies and clothing. Prices are excellent...items are very good and professional.
is the good quality in the room with us right now?
LOVED this video! This is honestly a great series idea because of how massive Temu's inventory is and how hit or miss the quality is.
I love travel style art supplies. I'm always on the go
I love how most of the listings are like a social media post with a crap ton of random words as if they’re hashtags
they are. its for search results lol
9:57 When Jazza tries to boost your confidence in your skill but then calls himself just a decent artist 🤣
Mini palette is better with tube watercolour.
I had one of those little watercolor sets for when I was backpacking for months and had to conserve space. It was amazing to have because I could still paint wherever I went without compromising my limited space. I basically dont use the palette now that I’m home though 😅
damn, you cornered me jazza... finneee i subbed
jazza my guy plein air painting is all about portable painting
