  • Three spectacular new reverb pedals released this year - what hugeness can we coax from them?
    Life too short for long TH-cam videos? Please see the ‘Interesting bits and go-to sections’ information below.
    Welcome all ye tone seekers! In this episode Daniel and I take a look at the three big reverb releases in 2020. Well, Daniel does - I kinda nod a lot and get swept along.
    Reverb pedals have advanced perhaps more than any other genre in recent years with companies honing ever more powerful DSP into musician-friendly, easy-to-understand interfaces.
    This trio fits that description perfectly, offering exciting paths towards true inspiration.
    If you're minded to tell us about all the awesome reverb pedals we didn't put in this video, we know. We know we know we know we know. We know you love your pedals and we know you're disappointed when we don't put your pedals in our videos. We have to make a selection and today, this is it. Cheers!
    Filmed before lockdown, just in case you were wondering.
    Enjoy the episode!

      This was my exact thought process for buying an Alexander jubilee silver overdrive recently. Zero regrets.

    • @jordandangelo180
      @jordandangelo180 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yup. Sounds about right. But I visualize myself constantly using it and having so much fun.
      Edit: I bought it and use it all the time. You can use a lot of reverb, which I really would never normally use, but you can play with it because the gift of this pedal besides the ridiculous hi-fi tones, is that doesn’t get in the way of your playing. Also, if you record anything besides guitar, this is the pedal you want for vocals, drums or synths. My favorite are the effect on vocals and drums. It completely transforms vocals but also drum sounds as well.

    I've never gone to Andertons faster. In four years of weekly obsessive watching and rewatching of your shows, learning as I go, I didn't even wait til half way. You were about a minute into the Nightsky, Dan, and programming that infinite loop with arpeggio. Honestly never pressed the big red danger button as quickly. Unchuffing believable. Massive respect to Strymon - I've been playing with programmable effects in DAW for years but it's never felt right. The way you both responded to the output coming from that thing was enough - that's what I've been missing. Awesome. Truly awesome. 🙌🏻 for TPS as always. Yas!

    Spot on about these sorts of reverbs being transformative instruments in and of themselves. When I was trracking our first ep with my group we were lacking a synth/piano player at the time. I grabbed a big sky, no instructions, found a texture I like, cranked extreme setting and had a go. Ended up with what sounded more like a synth and orchestra than anything guitar related. You really just have to let go and let them do their thing. I sat with the guitar on my lap for most of it with a glass slide. Once you break out of that headspace the possibilities are endless and this isn't even for ambient music necessarily but just sonic soundscapes you could not achieve otherwise

    I echo (appropriately) everyone saying you should play with 2 guitars together more. Not only are the jams wonderful, but it really demonstrates the points you make about sitting in a mix, or having a part with an effect for texture, or comparing frequencies. More, please!

    Holy cow that Chase Bliss pedal is outstanding! The most amazing thing is that I can see how it could possibly be worth its price tag. Options, functionality and above all: sound. The fidelity sounded a district level up from the others, which is crazy

    That 'hall' algorithm on the CXM is possibly (probably) the best hall-type reverb I have ever heard. I am lucky enough to own some amazing reverb pedals and an Axe FX III. The best reverbs I have used, up to now, have been from plugins. This pedal looks very well thought-out with a perfect feauture set IMO. My £50 Valhalla Room plugin will probably get me close enough for the sake of an £850 saving, but this is the best reverb I have heard in a pedal. Wow.

    I just bought a JHS 3 Series reverb, and I tell you what, for the price it's simply phenomenal. It's only mono, but the tails are so clean and there is a lot of variation within a very simple design.

    First of all, you guys are just the BALLZ! Second, I have recently begun using a Boss SY1000 in my rig and realized that it best mixes in as an effect much like these reverbs; tons of modulation/delay/reverb options AND 3 completely tweekable synth engines. I use a mixer to blend my Godin Multiac Jazz SA's 3 outputs (humbucker/piezo/synth), and their respective signal/effects paths. I am really loving the extreme flexibility of this rig. I play mostly solo singer/guitarist gigs and this has been very inspiring. Having said all that, I need help talking myself out of a Nightsky😊
