The JHS Hard Drive, Our Heaviest Pedal Yet!
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 28 มิ.ย. 2024
- We are proud to introduce you to the Hard Drive the heaviest pedal JHS has ever released!! In this episode, Josh demonstrates the wide range of heavy tones you can get with the Hard Drive, from the angsty riffs of Rage against the machine all the way to Korn. The Hard Drive is a truly unique topology, not based on any single circuit before it, but is a mutt of several distortion pedals and heavy amps. It features a sweepable mid-range as well as bass and treble controls. This pedal has been eight years in the making and is the final, completed design project of our former lead engineer and friend, Cliff Smith, who passed away in 2021. We hope you have as much fun playing this pedal as we had making it.

Love how every riff ends with Owner of a Lonely Heart
Owner Of A Lonely Heart Riff = MTV Spot Riff
It makes me want to write a dozen songs that end with that riff.
I like these types of riffs...they are Much Better Than A.....ok I will stop with the corny reference.
And how it's never addressed 🤣
It got me every time. 😂🤣😂🤣
Those riffs were so metal I'm gonna tell off my step dad.
how is this from an hour ago
also spoilers
😂
@@jasonpetty881 JHS DeLorean
I feel this
Thank you, Cliff Smith 🙏🏼💞
🥲
When Metallica said, “Woah, heaven let your light shine down,” I really felt that.
That's awesome!
It really touched my old crusty heart as well
I love that part when James says "yeah"
@@briangarcia8384 Perfect joke.
Owner of a Lonely Heart killed me. I'm literally dead. I hope you're happy, there's blood on your hands.

Every JHS video is 35% product description, 65% comedy but 100% groovy!
You are a great team!
My respect to Cliff
This has been the best JHS video in all of existence
you clearly didn't watched the bad monkey controversy hahahah
I lost it at “when it’s like a wet spaghetti noodle. Just no korn.” “Ok I’m set for some Korn” and then breaks into semi charmed kind of life
"Semi charmed" 🤣
Doot doot doot, doot do do do.
The Cliff memorial is a great touch. This is awesome, folks! Good work!
After the demo I informed my classically trained flautist wife that she is now a 64 year old “HEAVY METAL HAG”. I am a 74 year old “DIRT BAG BLUES MAN”. I play class A smallish amps. I use the tweed Bassman guitar setting, mid up,up and up. No bass or treble. Wah volume & a Holy Grail reverb pedals. I will be adding your new hard drive pedal as soon as possible for my blues/ metal EP. “Old man angry “ featuring the single “Death might Take the Edge Off”. Trademark
LOL! The comment of the section.
All you got to do is find a sexy early 20's singer to be the face of the band, and to connect with a younger audience, and you got yourself the next nirvana!!
Didn’t think a video with a Korn into 3EB riff would end with such a sweet tribute. RIP Cliff. Great work all around.
Woah, i bought my '94 Camry off Gorthalax- solid dude!
I left a bag of weed in the fuse box of Gorthalax’s old ‘94 Camry!
Hanging up on Rob Scallion while he was still talking was the most metal thing Josh has ever done. Rob using a JHS pedal as a phone was pretty reciprocal though.
The thought of Cliff spending weeks trying to mod a Shure SM7B is hilarious!
That Blind to Semi-Charmed Life transition had me in stitches!
I demand more Gorthalax content
Rob answering the phone call on a JHS pedal was top notch comedy. Thanks fellas!
Vanessa Carlton ringtone too
Taking my way downtown.
YES Owner of a Lonely Heart riff in Heavy Metal was a must.
Master of a Lonely Heart
I giggled like a moron every single time
Tbf, those first few chords on Owner of a Lonely Heart were on some gnarly distortion
@@homunculusSZN Master of a Lonely Semi-Charmed Kind of Heart.
This version should be in GTA VI
Darn, when I heard the announcement of a new upcoming pedal, I was hoping for a JHS Space Station. Josh we need a Space Station!
Same, since they had that DigiTech factory pedals video. I only hope they are actually working on something like a Space Station or EX-7 take
They won't do anything that would take an engineer with more experience. I don't know why but that's probably why all their digital pedals are super basic and everything else is analog dirt.
And I imagine Keeley and Benson helped them with the Bass preamp.
@orange-rv9ek It's pretty disrespectful to post this under a video eulogising their engineer.
I say an episode where "Josh-learns-how-to-play-real-Metal-from-Paul Gilbert" is much needed.
josh-learns-how-to-play-metal...... full stop.
@@jhspedals Alright! Lets make that happen! Lemme check Josh's agenda now... LOL
WHAT?!?!?! - everyone screaming when you causally dropped the “green album is better than the blue”
“Third Eye Korn, Blind” had me 😂
Much respect and peace to Cliff Smith. 💜🤘😌🎸
Netflix is my favorite band!
Freebird solo over Sleep Now in the Fire ending with Owner of a Lonely Heart. Art.
thanks for having me involved in the release of this pedal! Love it :D check out my drop b riff medley haha
of course!! and thanks for the demo! we appreciate you!!!
You guys are truly next level when it comes to pulling together a cohesive, engaging, ironically hilarious piece of content. Love it.
What a lovely tribute to your friend Cliff.
RIP Cliff and Cliff.
Netflix was never the same after Cliff died.
Yes! SM-7 Smash Box. My first pedal!
nice
@@jhspedals I have an idea for a pedal, it's like an octave fuzz, but instead of folding over the signal to create harmonics 1 octave (12 semitones) up, it folds over the signal to create harmonics at both 3 semitones up and 7 semitones up, which, in conjunction with the original pitch played, will create a 'minor' sound.
So it would be a 'minor fuzz'...
This is the best video you guys have done in a while. Great job! And thank you.
Your humor in this video really brightened my Monday morning after a weekend of moving. Every Owner of a Lonely Heart stab broke me, especially when I forgot about them and then boom, there it goes again.
Killer riffs.
And comedy gold.
Owner of a Lonely Heart. LOL.
Did I hear My Sharona in there?
I’ve seen all your videos. This might be my favorite. This video was epic. Shot really well, and even the mix and Sound was awesome.
"Owner of a Lonely Heart" is honestly one of the heaviest riffs ever. Ultimate one hit wonder riffage.
Owner of a loney heart riff everywhere 😂
And then Rob Scallon's ringtone 🤣
"...a 90-year-old tradition of breaking the sound of the guitar." LOVE this.
You guys make the best pedal videos !! Such a dry topic and you make it fun but informative !
🤘🤘🤘
Josh, never change. We love ya like ya are too much. 😂
Ending everything with owner of a lonely heart is hilarious
I loved the chaotic vibe of this video. Perfect timing, acting, playing, everything.
Then, 'Cliff lives on' broke me.
This episode is excelent. I love you guys. ❤
Just watched this. Made me laugh and then shed a tear at the end. Awesome pedal! 🤘 Thank you Cliff Smith! ❤
Wild how people LOVE the JCM900 now. I had one for years and was ridiculed by the Marshall corksniffers
Probably my favorite graphic yall have ever done. So cool
Likely inspired by the Kaypro II (1982) “portable” computer
Omg those mixes of all the tunes in the demos are hot fire!!!
one of the best jhs videos they just keep getting better keep up the great work guys you’re killing
Thank you Cliff!! 🙏
Love seeing Josh and the boys do METAL!!! \m/
This had me cackling between meetings this morning! And such an awesome tribute to Cliff as well.
Aloha Josh! Always enjoy your content, never boring and gets me smiling….stress relief for sure. I want to pass on my condolences to you and your amazing staff and so very sorry for your loss. I love the fact that Cliff’s memory will in part live on and in part, etched in memoriam on your pedal. May you have success with this new release as well as your company “drive”….always moving forward and up. Mahalo nui loa for entertaining us physically with your products and visually with your video content…..Aloha
This is probably the best JHS video yet. Maybe even the best video on TH-cam.
A free pedal? Finally!
Awesome pedal and video. And what a special tribute to Cliff at the end. Keep up the great work JHS!
Just received this pedal from Sweetwater today after ordering the moment i watched this video. This pedal is legit! Totally captures the late 90s/early 2000s tone I grew up with. Now I'm looking at 7 strings.
Top mount jacks on jhs pedal! What is this world coming to?
When you said you’d never done this before, I thought you were going to say, ”make a pedal that isn’t a clone.”
wow, what a jokester. HAHAHAHAHAHAAH

SICK BURN
@@FacePomagranate you cloned JHS’ comment.
So Apm what u think about the pedal ?? I think it rocks.
Enjoying this a huge amount. The Korn third eye blind medley. The owner of a broken heart photo bombs. Best metal demo ever. You guys are heros.
First JHS video I've watched in aaaaaaaages, glad I tuned in. Epic!
I gotta tell my stepdad to check out this pedal. Seems like a pedal he can share with all his step kids.
Everyone you came back to Owner of a lonely heart, I laughed harder
What a pedal. Thanks Cliff and Josh. Never enough overdrive pedals
One of the best videos you guys have made
And the pedal is awesome too
Semi korned life was great
This man trolls more masterfully than a Ranger Bass boat. Bruv, you rule!
🤭
This is how to debut a pedal! Great job guys! *OWNER OF A LONELY HEART*
I wish you all strength and peace. Thank you Cliff, for everything.
So many great Easter eggs in this but my fave might be Rob’s Vanessa Carlton ringtone 😂
If your heaviest pedal is an overdrive I'm passing it hard
JHS brought their A game with this one looks like a real versatile pedal and probably the best product video they’ve ever done…I’m proud of you guys 🥹
Love you guys!!! JHS is unstoppable!
Best product demo I've seen in a long time
Hey guys, that "cheap office keyboard" you smashed in the intro is a gold mine to mechanical keyboard collectors, and it broke my heart to see it... Those switches go for $2-4 per key, keycaps go for at least $150.
Hmmm. I have to check the keyboards I have in my shed.
Beautiful tribute and awesome video and pedal!!
Whatever you demo I love clicking on this channel.
I laughed through this entire video. Thank you for this honestly it made my whole day!
Ordered. Thanks Cliff Smith!!! I hope I channel your vibes every time I use this pedal. ❤
Excellent playing and really impressive pedal, I can see and hear why you are proud of it!
I’m still new to this guitar thing, but I can’t get enough of Josh, the JHS crew and their pedals. Keep up the great work!
🙏🏼🖤🙏🏼🖤🙏🏼
That was extremely entertaining. Genuinely funny. Great pace, punchy and satirical. Highly imaginative design. Yet felt rough and random and improvised like it was all tumbling downhill on fire. And the Cliff tribute. One of your best. Killer pedal.
This guy never fails to entertain!! Love it!! Love JHS
This is the funniest product demo I've seen in a long time 😂 Josh is a breath of fresh air
What a lovely tribute to Cliff and an endearing legacy. 💔❤🩹🙏
Did not expect to get a little teary eyed, the love and respect for the man really comes through. Great sounding pedal too
Love the dedication to Cliff inscribed on the PC board. Well done.
everything that's good about JHS is in this video. Thank you for it!
this video is pretty epic. nice skills JHS crew!
Best episode ever. Can't wait to try the pedal.
Pedal sounds righteous. Great way to remember Cliff. As always though, I love how even though this is a big announcement for his pedal company, its still 20 minutes of Josh taking the piss out of the internet.
This is a great pedal. Well done. Looking forward to getting one.
Awesome!! Congratulations!!
Fun and fantastic presentation! Nice job Josh.
RIP Cliff
I'm pretty happy with my Empress Heavy Menace, but you make me want to buy your pedals with your high quality and hilarious sense of humor. I'll pick this one up pretty soon. Keep up the great work!
Oh man... @0:57 smashed a vintage Apple keyboard full of salmon Alps switches?! You're killing me.
Woah, I knew Cliff. That is so sad, he was such a sweet person I just found this out not too long ago. He worked on my amps for years before he got a job with y'all. ( >:( stole muh amp tech ). I was already sold on this pedal but I'm especially going to have to buy one now, his handwriting is still on the speakers in my amp. RIP brother
🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼 oh man! he really was so awesome. we miss him so much over here.
Your new pedal vids are always outstanding. Far outside my wheelhouse, but I have to watch anyway.
I thoroughly enjoyed this video.
I love non-metalheads interpretation of Metal! JHS videos are always a joy to watch!
I'm not even looking for a new pedal, but this is some of the most entertaining content on youtube. Never change!
🙏🏼
Joking aside about your metal playing, that slide playing was fantastic. You just nailed the right melody for the song.
This ep really tickled me, thanks boys.
