The moment you were talking about how the game is dark and depressing with a jazz soundtrack, the only thing I could think of is Gundam Thunderbolt, as it is literally that
Thunderbolt's Jazz is a bit heavier and well suited for the darkness of the series, Torna's jazz is very upbeat, though it doesn't play when it wouldn't be a good fit for it. Thunderbolt on the other hand, plays jazz even when the most horrible stuff is going on, but the tone makes it work great there.
Agreed, torna should definitely be experienced if playing 2.
I did have a hard time going back to 2's combat afterwards. Torna was so snappy. Lol.
The Only thing I dislike about Torna is that they didn't show Jin becoming a Flesheater, they showed that in a Cutscene in 2 so why not in Torna? would've rounded out that Game perfectly.
But for what Torna is, it's great^^
I hate that too, is like the game is implying that you played xeno2 first.
Bro I just straight up stopped the first time during the roadblock after half the side quest for like a few days
I've always wondered how different 2 would be received if it had this battle system and got rid of the gacha system (I never minded the system but some hated it). Not to mention how much stronger 2's core casts would be even though I don't think 2 core cast was weak character wise by any measure.

Torna is hands down my favorite Xenoblade. The story and battle system are both some of the best the genre has to offer.
i just redownloaded XBC2 again after seven years, so which should I start with? should i play Torna first or just jump back into 2?

Play chronological. and yeah all dlc is in the same download for torna.
