This video gave me a weird nostalgia for your old Thanks Gaming videos with Max, that was so long ago.
I still have a vivid memory of the months before Xenoblade release and seeing some trailers, on the Wii's Nintendo Channel of all places, and not liking it very much, I don't even remember why, it just looked weird, but then they released the launch trailer, which still is up online and is an amazing trailer, it finally convinced me to get it on birthday out of the blue, and I'm so glad I did.
It was the first time I ever felt immersed and interested in the world and story of a game, something Final Fantasy never fully did, and I attribute that, not only to how great the story and world are, but how this whole game is just so engaging.
Every aspect of it oozes quality and keeps your attention in a way that I don't think other RPGs manage to do, it's just 60 to 80 hours of constant new areas with great music and a great pacing of exploration and story scenes, done in such a great way that to this day, I don't think any other franchise manages.
Looking forward to the rest of the retrospective, especially 2 and Torna.

Great review! Especially the bit about the story's plotline focus. I also felt like it needed more in-depth character interactions, kinda like skits from the "Tales series. One thing i felt was missing from this review, was praise for the ambitious nature of this game. It has systems on top of systems, as well as fun exploration rewards and hidden bosses. Also, few RPGs actually incorporate story beats into game mechanics like the foreseeing danger feature... 😉👍

Game is a Masterpiece. If you haven’t played it. Do it now! The Definitive edition is the best way to experience it.

Everything about this game is perfect. Love all the twists and turns it throws at you and just how violent and grim the story can get. All the characters are loveable even the villains are unique compared to anything else. Small details like how your character changes appearance with each gear equipped is something I miss from RPGs. Plus, the soundtrack is incredible especially when you hear it in Smash for the first time and the nostalgia kicks in. Overall the game is a 10/10 for me.

Simons, It's thanks to you that I got into the franchise. (just finished the first game after 80 hours) I kept seeing you talk about the franchise playing it on Max's stream but also on your streams Monolith Mondays. I didn't think I would enjoy the game as i was ready to give up 2 hours in thanks to the combat, but the story is what kept me going but like you said it was great at first but halfway through it kinda felt weird because some characters felt sidelined regardless the music and the overworld with the music corresponding to it made me really sad as to how good it was and how now as im playing TOTK the music is still absent somewhat and its like COME ON NINTENDO regardless. , I just wanted to thank you for introducing me to this game/franchise I can't wait to get into Xeno 2 / Torna / 3 but man Xeno2's art is what made me not want to pick up the games. But Xeno 3 is a good return to form so I'm willing to look past it.

im glad to see this, but man Im seeing that Zelda shade when it comes to music (I agree)
I've been watching your streams and it definitely helps to sell the game when someone who loves the series play it

I'm glad I didn't play it until the definitive edition. Had a much better time with the new casual difficulty. Though custom difficulty would have been appreciated like in XB2. Weird that it didn't make it into 3

Still the only Xenoblade I liked.
I didn't like that it turned into waifu simulator in the sequels.

Tell me you didn't actually play the other games without telling me you didn't actually play the other games.

I guess you've never even played the later games if u think they turned into "waifu simulators" lmao

@Straydog 404 I mean, I saw enough of the gameplay of 2 to know what it is and how it just doesn't compare to Chronicles 1.
Not saying it's bad, but I'm not into the girl collecting mechanics.

    • @TheSturmgeist13
      @TheSturmgeist13 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@YoVideogames Not saying it's bad, but the essence of Chronicles 1 was just removed with X being set in Los Angeles America and 2 being about collecting girl spirits, etc.
The games just never returned to that feel and design that Chronicles 1 nailed so well, and I wish they'd go back and explore it again.

"girl collecting mechanics" lmaooo ye you've definitely never played xc2, and know nothing about it.
