    My theory is that what Zeke got from Pandoria's Core Crystal was indeed his Eye Of Shining Justice powers(extreme power and *speed* boosts) along with probably having electric powers himself, on the battle against him on Chapter 5 in the cutscene where he goes all serious and stuff, he surrounds himself with electricity and charges at high speeds towards the party. Also, on the Torna Battle of Tantal, Zeke aparently moved fast enough to survive Jin's superspeed whatever stab and even Jin praises his "Thunderbolt Zeke" title for being the first time he ever missed a vital point with that attack

      Yeah, I also saw a cool theory that Pandorias orignal weapon was just the staff, and Zeke added the blade when he became a Blade Eater.

      It would make sense that he could utilize at least a portion of Pandoria's lightning power since we see both of the other Blade eaters (Amalthus and Mikhail) utilize blade abilities and/or weapons.

    Jin and Nia are definitely not immortal. Yes, Jin has been alive for 500 years, but we see constantly throughout the game that he is very much on death's door and has been barely scraping by with technology for awhile. So much so that Malos tries to interfere nearly every single time Jin goes to do anything (for example, at the beginning of the game when Rex comes back, right before he goes to the core crystal convoy, etc etc.) knowing that each time Jin fights its a risk to his health. We also see Jin tuning himself in those green coffin things constantly over the course of the game as a means to keep himself alive. I think its implied that everytime Jin uses his flesh eater power it brings himself closer to death. At the end of the game he basically accepts that and uses the last of his power to kill Amaltheus before fading away.

      @@NaomiAlicia4242564 yes, in this sense he is basically at risk of both these things. He could die at any time randomly because he's a flesh eater but also while his particle abilites are overpowered he can't use them very much given his state, he always struggles when using his powers besides chapter 6 where he was presumably 'fully charged' and he had about enough to get by before in end chapter 7 into 8 his battle using similar abilities left him greatly weakened when found in the land of Morytha

    Two things wrong Luxin, one is that Patroka and Ahkos aren't very old. They have tantalese clothing, but more then that, Jin is the one who busted them out and we know that Malos only recruited him and formed Torna only a few years before the start of the series. Ahkos is also unfamilar with Judicium tech and didn't recognize the Titan Weapon. If he was older, he would have known about it from personal experience.
    Two, it's confirmed through other dialog that Nia didn't take the daughters name. She's always been Nia. She wasn't even a secret, the people of Torigoth knew about her and thought she was a legit daughter of the Lord. Nia was with them for quite a while, at least 4 years, maybe more. You might be right though that relationship has a lot to do with success. After all, what determines a Blades power overall? Resonance. The stronger the resonance with your Blade, i.e their trust in you, the more power they can unlock. If a Driver and Blade loved each other, that's going to create a pretty powerful Flesh Eater, as they essentially still have their Driver inside of them, helping to regulate the flow of Ether.

    • @Luxin_Xeno
      @Luxin_Xeno  6 ปีที่แล้ว +19

      You're right about A&P, but I think the Nia thing was just different interpretations of the same dialog. I read it as them thinking that Nia was the lord's daughter since they looked so similar so I guess it's up in the air unless someone specifically says he had two daughters somewhere; don't remember off the top of my head if there's anyone that does.

    • @VanStolin
      @VanStolin 6 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      It's a conversation you can have with the mayor. I don't remember when you can trigger it, but he talks at length about how the Lord was spending not only his own, but tax payer money to try to cure his sick daughter. Specifically mentions his having two daughters. I've seen other people speculating that Nia wasn't that old, so that cans that. Others trying to say that the Father was actually abusive and Nia suffered from Stockholm Syndrome. This conversation with the mayor destroys that as well, since it was never the Lords intention to groom Nia to take his other daughters place, it just ended up working out like that. Turns out he was one of the few who treated Blades well and his passing really messed Nia up and is probably why Dromarch is the way he is, acting very father like as that is what she desperately wanted when she awoke him.

      It doesn't have to specifically be the Driver, though. Nia had consumed her Driver's daughter, not her actual Driver, and she still became a "what has science done"-tier Flesh Eater.
      I feel like part of the reason why Nia got messed up by her Driver's death was because she didn't know that she can't return to her Core Crystal because she became a Flesh Eater. Just a thought, though, nothing confirmed.

      If its about battle capabilities, it's established that Rex could somewhat hold his own when Malos tests him in Argentum. He manages to dodge Malos' attack and strike (granted, it gets blocked). He doesn't solo Zeke or Morag* as they attack his group in a 1v1, and if you're talking about that part near the end with the Architect's hallucinations, he doesn't beat Nia or Morag, he runs from them. With Tora and Zeke, they are beaten when he uses a desperate all-out attack from the Aegis sword and buries them in rock. Plus, Mythra's Foresight would kind of break literally everything. His excellent reaction time (again, established when Malos tested him in Argentum) combined with knowing what his foe was about to do would make any attack miss.
      With the Power of Friendship thing reviving Pyra/Mythra, I'm just going to leave it to, "The part of Pyra/Mythra/Pneuma in Rex worked as a backup for whatever was deleted by whatever vital functions Malos deleted (as Pneuma is a processing unit, makes sense that there would be a stored backup somewhere), and Rex was able to reconnect and restore it." The third Aegis sword came from Pyra/Mythra finally trusting Rex with their full power after their revival. That's my explanation anyway.

    I agree with everything you said except the part about the 2 higher tiers of flesh eaters retaining their immortality. In chapter 8 Nia specifically mentions that since she’s a flesh eater, she doesn’t know when she’ll die and might even just die the next day without any warning. This probably means that flesh eaters all probably have different lifespans from a few years to possibly 500+ years like Jin. Nia, Jin, Ahkos, Patroka, and Mikhial aren't immortal. Aside from Mik, their bodies just don't age with them. Nia says in Chapter 8 that she could drop dead at any moment. When Jin has that "seizure" after his fights in Chapter 5 and 9, that was him simply dying. The only reason we ever saw him alive later was because of that capsule treatment in Chapter 8. We also see that Mikhial was a child when he got the crystal implanted in him. But he's clearly an adult now. He just aged super slowly.

    A lot of Lore videos state that Nia's "dad" was her driver, without citing their source. To the best of my knowledge, (that is to say, using only the English translation,) it is in fact left up in the air which of the two were her driver at the time. As long as the Sister still had a pulse up until she became a cell donor, then she is still in the running for "Original Driver".

    • @Luxin_Xeno
      @Luxin_Xeno  6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      That's true, it's never explicitly stated, but it makes more sense for it to be the father to me. The sister is in a coffin in the cutscene right after she becomes a Flesh Eater, so they'd need to have had one with all the flowers in it ready to go before she died, which isn't what I'd do if my child was sick and had even a small chance of getting better. Also she'd been sick for a good portion of her life, starting pretty young, so I'm not really sure she'd even be physically able to resonate with Blades in her state.

    • @smashmonkey6304
      @smashmonkey6304 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      Luxin actually, that cutscene was after, not before. The dad talks about Nia having the daughter’s soul in her which means its post.
      Also, the Blade’s name was always Nia. I think there is an NPC that heavily implies this, but the naming is in line with Poppi, Pyra’s and Mythra’s Japanese names which were flower, flame and light respectively. Niyah, Her Japanese name, is based on the sound a cat makes.

    I haven't seen anyone talking about normal people actually having their blade's power by stabbing themselves with their weapons, like Vandham did. In fact, I don't know why this wasn't shown more in the rest of the game when that was a cool ability, IMO. I would've liked to see what were the implications of gaining your blade's power momentarily and what were the side effects of that, aside from the big injury the driver might have.

    • @dragonmaster1500
      @dragonmaster1500 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Well, if I'm not mistaken a blade's weapon is generated directly from their core crystal. If so, then by stabbing yourself with said weapon you essentially create a direct link between the driver's body and the blade's core allowing the driver to utilize the blade's power, essentially creating a "temporary" blade eater. Though this method doesn't seem to be very well known.
      As was explained in the video blade eaters are the opposite of flesh eaters and come about when a "human" "consumes" or integrates part or all of a blade's core crystal into their body. Because you are establishing a direct link with the crystal you are able to utilize part or all of the blade's power similar to what was shown when Vandham "integrated" Roc's Scythes.

    So here's the thing rex is not a blade eater. Mythra explains this in chapter 6. What happened between is an ability that all blades have they can willing share their core crystal with their driver to save their life. If they do so the driver gets half and the blade gets the other and the crystal is a uniform split between them, rex got the inner part pyra the outer. The reason why we don't see other blades do this in the game is because of the memory wipe, they don't know they can. Pyra and Mythra do because the aegis's have all the knowledge of the blades in them and their capabilities. And she doesn't offer the information to that to other blades because it is a last resort maneuver as it ties the blade's life completely to their driver meaning if the driver dies the blade dies and vice versa. Blade eaters don't have that restriction.

    I guess now that you mention it, Minoth's driver is Amalthus and we all know how he sees Blades, the Drivers of Akhos and Patroka seems to be Xenoblade's version of Red Arrow and Chesire (Young Justice: Outsiders hype) who of course knowing they were to each other siblings. As for Nia, her Driver is to her closest to being family as the cells she obtained is the daughter of her Driver so it was a father and daughter relationship. Then of course we have Jin who's Driver is Lora whom the former raised to adulthood. 9:19 Luxin I am pretty sure the Eye of Shining Justice I would dare say his Blade Eater power. Now let's not forget that Amalthus is a Blade Eater too having the bottom half of Haze's core crystal and having her ability of Ether restriction. Now fun fact, a Flesh Eater's core crystal is stained red I believe based on what part of the human was eaten or how much of it. The logial choice would be the heart. In Jin's case, his crystal is entirely red because he devoured Lora's entire heart.

    So basically Nia was a Blade who was awoken by her “sister’s” dad, and when she was first awoken she had her regular clothing on. Then she consumed the flesh of her sister, and transformed into Gormotti, as well as her true blade form. Is that correct? The story cutscenes didn’t cut it for me with this info.

    9:15 First of all, the Big Bang Edge is Pandoria's weapon. When put on Rex (which can happen, but for reasons I won't reveal), the weapon isn't a staff, which it would be if it was Pandoria's true weapon. The sword just can simply have the handle taken off, and that's what Pandoria uses. However, he may have received other benefits.
    The cartoony (and really fast) movements you see Zeke and Pandoria use could have come from the Blade Eater process. Unleash Shining Justice, a skill you can get from the New Game + Skill Tree, gives Zeke an unbelievable speed buff, which matches that which he uses in the cutscenes. Another thing of note is that when Rex uses the Big Bang Edge (and I could be wrong about this), he doesn't use electricity, unlike Zeke, who, with the Big Bang Edge, regularly channels electricity in his Driver Arts. It's only with Pandoria, but given the nature of Zeke's Blade Eater status, that makes sense.

      I can see why that might seem counterintuitive, but there are instances of nature being better at its job than science in the real world. For example, female rhinos can't breed in captivity. Artificial insemination can be attempted, but it's never going to work as well as just standard breeding would have when captivity never entered the equation.
      I think the Judicians witnessed a process that could be done in nature, and tried to industrialize it, without knowing what was needed to make it work properly.

    I think the success rate or degree of success is dependent on the bond between the blade and the person whose flesh their consuming is. It's implied that the Judician tech was merging blades with randon human flesh, which is what happened to Minoth. The other flesh eaters consumed the flesh of a person close to them, either their driver or another being they were very very close to. Akhos and Patroka ate the flesh of their drivers, as did Jin, but Nia, she ate the daughter of her driver. And as to why Jin didn't want to bond with a blade, I have to point to where he revealed himself as a flesheater. I think it's a matter of principle that he's not bonding with a blade. "Why are you the masters and we the slaves?"

    I would point out that some of a flesh eater's power likely depends on their power BEFORE becoming one. After all, Jin was the Paragon of Torna WITHOUT it... Nia likely incorporated the ENITIRE existence/body, helping facilitate it to the extreme. I figure that the daughter was integrated, enabling the full potential to be made (And likely forcing the Core to adapt it's abilities, or evolve them). After all, the healing had to be used to move the body.
    Also, an idea I had was called 'Blood Bond' - basically a mutual exchange between Blade & Driver - Blade Eater and Flesh Eater of the other. Requires an EXTREMELY strong bond. (I theorize that it MIGHT have been able to save Lora's life...)

    A thing worth mentioning is that by technicality, the Guldos found in Morytha are Blade Eaters that existed before Indol's experiments. The difference is that the Guldos were humanity's flimsy attempt at immortality that ended up turning them into horrifying monsters, whereas the modern ("modern" being the keyword following a revelation in the Torna expansion) attempts at Blade Eaters are a lot cleaner in practice and leave the human subject the same as before aside from a piece of rock embedded in them and superhuman abilities. Even when Amalthus turned himself into a monster through taking in as much Core Crystals as the Guldos, he still somewhat resembled his original self.

      Malos explains it in a cutscene awhile back when they took Pyra. Pretty much an aegis's core crystal contains the data on all living things and they can live a long time without their core. The reason why Pyra could bargain with her life is because she can transfer the rest of her core to Rex and not only would it reconstruct his heart from the data in it, but it could create a new Pyra and Mythra if they died. This is why they come back at the end of the game. The reason I think they didn't do this before is that I'm guessing they didn't know they would comeback due to the core crystal also there wasn't really a reason to.

In fact, he's revealed to be a Blade Eater AFTER the guy you said you wouldn't mention because it was after Chapter 7. Until then, he's assumed to be a Flesh Eater. The only Blade Eater that was actually revealed to be a Blade Eater in Chapter 7 or before was Zeke.
    9:57 Actually, the thing is, Blade Eaters have their cores melded with their body, sorta. The fragment of Pyra and Mythra's Core Crystal that Rex got, while attached to his chest, is not melded to it. Also, it's not a true replacement for his heart, it's just there to keep him alive as his heart recovers from being stabbed. For all of those reasons, I do not believe Rex qualifies as a Blade Eater.

    Very nicely done, I actually hadn't heard the idea that Nia's driver was her "father" (everywhere else I've read has assumed her "sister" was her driver). The one disagreement I would have with your explanations is regarding flesh eater immortality. It seemed to me more that successful ones became immune to the appearance of physical aging, but they still had limited (albeit long) lifespans. Jin needed to go into that special chamber on a regular basis to stay alive it seemed (either that or his powers were responsible for the need for treatments), and Nia remarks in one cutscene that she has no idea how long she is going to live for, that she could die of old age the next day for all she knows. Further, in the side quest where you get to fix up Cole, it's noted by the doctor that even with his illness taken care of and Mythra having fixed up his blade side, he's still going to eventually die of old age due to his human cells.

    • @IchHassePasswoerter
      @IchHassePasswoerter 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Though Nia could be a very special case. She has restorative powers after all. Together with the techno knowledge Pyra/Mythra received in the Low Orbit station, they could devise a method to make Flesh Eaters actually immortal. Same for Blade Eaters. Malos does mention that it migt've already been possible with Judicium's technology.

    • @Ryodraco
      @Ryodraco 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Perhaps, but the game also seems to indicate that nothing is truly immortal. Even the titans themselves die of old age eventually. I took the line about getting Jin better treatment to just mean that Judicium may have been able to manage his debilitating symptoms better.

    • @AngelicusEXperiment
      @AngelicusEXperiment 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      He claims to have gained nothing, though, so I'm guessing aside from the obvious singular improvement, he really did gain nothing, and might even be unable to awaken core crystals. And it may not even have been his driver's cells that he took, but those of some random donor.
      It's likely that Minoth was simply a powerful blade when Amalthus awakened him, and while the process did give him freedom from the man he grew to despise, it came at a cost to his health, not just his longevity.
      It's unclear if Akhos and Patroka suffered a similar health deficiency, but it's not unreasonable to speculate that they may be more like Jin, only having suffered a cost in longevity rather than in vitality.

  • @ChaosMyth1012
    @ChaosMyth1012 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    2:25 Well, I don’t know about Patroka, but Akhos had a couple of scenes where it seemed to imply he may have had some clairvoyant abilities, or some limited omnispective perhaps not entirely unlike Azami’s clairvoyant eye ability ( which isn’t clairvoyant at all and that drives me nuts ), if we’re to believe that becoming a flesh eater gives them special abilities, perhaps that’s for Akhos. However, do we know that flesh eaters actually gain new abilities upon becoming a flesh eater? For all we know, Nia and Jin may have had their abilities before becoming flesh eaters, on account that we have seen almost nothing of Nia’s past self, and Torna hasn’t come out yet to confirm Jin’s abilities one way or the other.

Tanks for the great video and good job :) If I can ask for two wishes, please make a video about the connection between Xenoblade and Xenosaga (only if you havent done it yet. Sry if I am only to stupid to find it.) And as my second wish, plesae forgive me my bad english. Im from German. I hope your videos in the future are as great like this. Thanks. And I have a question too. Is Amalthus a Blade eater? What do you think?

    It could be because I've only seen the cutscenes once so I might remember them wrong, but my perception of Nia was that she really were the daughter/sister to that Gormotti family and her father turned her artificially into a Blade in a desperate attempt to save his other daughter. I always viewed Nia like a perfect artifical Blade of some kind. Manufactured by unknown means.

      GSS1-Sirius I don’t think so because we see her in a flashback from before she became a flesh eater

    The thing about Nia resonating with Rex was not Nia's doing, but Rex's. In fact, after they land in Morytha, the game reveals that Rex can resonate with any blade, even if they have resonated with other driver

      Yeah but the whole resonating with blades thing happens after chapter 7, a while after you get blade nia

    Chapter 10 Spoilers
    The Aegises are data processing units for the Conduit. I believe the reason Pyra/Mythra retained their memories after apparently losing them to Malos is because they were still in communication with the Conduit, which retains all evolutionary information on all Blades, including their memories. Malos' core crystal was partially destroyed, interrupting communications with the Conduit, so he had to use Pyra's to restore it. That's how it read to me, anyway.

  • @VanishEclipse4867

    BTW, Flesh Eaters don't heal as well and no they are not immortal. Jin had to go into an Ether Bacta tank of sorts as shown twice because of heavy strain and as of chapter 9 he was no longer at his best as stated by Mythra. Nia mentions that being a Flesh Eater herself she is not immortal as normal Blades are. Now I guess the Blade Eater part does explain how Amalthus looked like he didn't age a bit for someone who is over 500 years old but it sure does not explain how Mikhail became such a perv teehee.

    Text contains SPOILERS!
    When a blade becomes a flesh eater it can get quite a massive boost in strength and obtain unique powers. But what I really wonder is what happens if a truely awakened Aegis (and I'm talking not about Pyra, Mythra or Malos but Pneuma) that has the power to rewrite the laws of physics in the beginning becomes a flesh eater? The increase in power would be tremendously at least. What do you think would happen?

    • @lannobile7260
      @lannobile7260 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pneuma gets her reality warping powers from The Conduit, so becoming a Flesh Eater wouldn't actually do much for her and might actually be a hinderance. On the other hand, considering what is needed to awaken Pneuma, if Pyra and/or Mythra were to "eat" Rex they might actually be able to retain Pneuma's from indefinitely. At least as long as The Conduit is around.

    Fun fact : Morag is the only main character to be an human in her normal state :
    -Members of torna are all blades and one blade-eater
    -Amalthus is a blade-eater monster
    -Klaus is, well, Klaus, merely a god, with one half of his body in an other universe
    -Vandham is dead
    -Nia is a flesh-eater
    -Zeke and Rex got one half of the core crystal of their respective blades
    -Tora is a Nopon
    Then, Morag is the only important character that is an unaltered human. Though, this is made with very specific criters.

    There's only one problem with the idea that the Greatsword is Zeke's Blade weapon and the staff is Pandoria's. Mild spoilers for chapter 8 ahead:
    When Rex engages Pandoria as the Master Driver, he uses the Greatsword. Best I can figure is the handle of the sword was always able to detach, like with other Blade weapons with multiple modes. Though I can concede that most of Rex's Master Driver abilities are purely on the gameplay side of things, he still canonically engages with Brighid while they're separated from the rest of the group.

    Personally I think rex and pyra/mythra/That 3rd form is similar to ash and graninja from Pokemon xyz both can reach a amilation type point where they basivly become one but for ash and graninja their thoughts and feelings must both match and be deep enough to enable the battle bond ability whole for rex and pyra they have the same thing but perminte, as for what asimalation does it grants hosted strength and reflexes at the cost of where if one takes some dmg no matter how small it also goes to their partner too which exains why pyra got hurt when rex did many a time in the story but If rex the human of the 2 takes a fatal blow then pyra/mythra also takes the fatal blow thus dying basicly making them both mortal although atonimy would suggest otherwise.

    We don't know how long ago akhos and patroka became flesh eaters. They appear in no flashbacks that can be confirmed to take place 500 years ago. All we know is they were being transferred to Indol. With Indol trying to control core crystals, they would use their leverage over Tantal if it was found out about flesh eaters in Tantal.
    *spoiler warning*
    Only Mikhal is confirmed to have 500 years ago become a blade eater after he became a refugee when Torna was destroyed.

    Bruh that tier list at 2:35! I also might have to disagree about Cole/Minoth. He was a beast in Torna, it's just that when we meet him as Cole, he's gotten REAALLLY old.

  • @BigaloMax

    Personally I think in the process of transforming into a flesh-eater is not the reason why they are so powerful. Personally I think it's more of a blade Rarity effect , Jin for example is a royal blade like Bridget , Pandoria and Aegean . These blades are essentially Imperial regalia's and their Nations strongest Blades. Then we have blades like Zenobia , kos-mos,Nia and herald* who are almost as strong as Royal blades and super rare ( by the way I'm not fully sure if Herald would qualify as a Royal blade or super rare blade) but not property of any of the Royal Families. Then we'll just have the normal rare blades and lastly the common blades.
