Let me tell you...Neil Geraldo is such an underrated guitarist and musician...one of my guitar Gods....
yep, and honestly, Pat's voice is still so strong! So many of my favorite singers just lose that power and clarity they had when younger. It's perfectly natural to expect but damn! She sounds so close to when she was younger.
Her classical training likely has a lot to do with that. When you sing properly, it’s easier to maintain your chops. And man, does she have the chops! So good.
Yeah
He don't suck!🤘
I was a young teenager when they came out on the scene. I loved Pat's attitude, voice, personae. But, I made sure to learn every single lick Neil came up with. It made me such a better guitarist!
Agreed!!
At 71 she still kills it. Congrats to both on such an amazing career and sharing a life long journey together.
Unheard of...
Amen ❤rock it👍👍🎶🎸🎸🎸🎸
Fierce!
After all the years Neil and Pat still got it. She adapted her voice-which has changed and yet its still unmistakable. BRAVO!
At 71 years of age, Pat is still a badass!! 🤘
Ms. Benatar/The true “QUEEN OF ROCK” right there!!!
Loved her from back in the day & she’s still killing it all these years later!
Rock on Pat!!! And Neil, one of the most underrated guitarists ever….🎵🎵🎸🎸🎸
She'd have to share that throne with Ann Wilson, but yeah.
Wow! She and Neil have aged like a fine wine! Their music just gets better!
Listen to their song Strawberry wine
Neil is one of the finest guitarists to ever live. He’s that good.
Yea, but Rick Springfield is pretty good on guitar too. I mean, have you listened to "Jessie's Girl"? so good.
@@cowcat7436 there’s tons of great guitarists. I just think Neil is one of the extra special ones.
Neil played on that@@cowcat7436
@@rblauson I was being a troll. Neil actually played for Rick on that song.
@@cowcat7436 I didn’t even know. I thought Springfield played lead on that song !
Proud to be gray haired right along with them! 70's and 80's baby simply the best songs and songwriters.
It's worth it to be older now, to have been younger then.
@@nikkivenable73 well put
@@nikkivenable73 Being 18 in 1981 heading into college was insanely hedonistic. Everything was right there. New music styles blossomed while we still listened to Boston and Aerosmith.
Same..70s baby...nvr thought I'd be in my 50s getting grey
Neil is one of the most badass guitar players on the planet! What a couple!
That didn't stop him from hitting a clam at 3:27.
Married for 41 years, no "work" done and beautiful long grey hair. Very cool
I was at this show. So great. Was a privilege to be there.
Some commenters on another clip say it's obvious she was lip syncing. Did you see that?
it makes no sense that she would lip sync.@@carlwilliams6977
So great to listen to a real non-auto tuned singer.
WATCH AGAIN, Lip Syncing does NOT need Auto Tune
@@MRTTMT ya I think you're right. I noticed it near the end of the song. Plus her speaking voice sounds so scratchy when she was talking before the song, it isn't hard to believe.
I can't even express to you youngsters how awesome this is! Pat is one of the only vocalists who has been singing for decades that hasn't blown out her vocals. SHE STILL SOUNDS GREAT! And Neil can still positively SHRED on the guitar!! LOVE THIS VIDEO!!!
I'm almost positive she's lip synching.
yes definitely lip synced@@edbernardmusic3599
Ann Wilson qualifies.
And Ann actually sings live, unlike this.@@The_Good_Life_starts_today
No she isn’t. She was trained by her mother who was an opera singer and teacher. When you learn how to sing properly, you don’t blow out your vocal cords. She often called herself a pissed off opera singer who became a rocker.
Pat still has the looks.
And that voice!
I was so glad when they were finally inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Who else misses Myron Grombacher on DRUMS???
Scott Sheets and Roger Capps,too.
Denny Carmassi!!
Just thinking that!!
Myron kicked ass!
Drummers seem to be the most interchangeable
Over 40 years for this song, and it is still a gem that has held up thru the decades. Pat is still great, and Neil is so underrated, its laughable. The guy is brilliant and can still play amazingly. That was a great version of this song, my favorite song of Pat and Neil.
Isn’t classic rock so cool?!!
She's taken great care of her voice.
She was properly trained as an opera singer by her mother who was an opera singer teacher. When you are properly trained you learn how to protect and take care of your voice. Doing warmups is incredibly important. A good diet, lemon tea and honey to coat the chords. I was classically trained as a kid and can still hit some high notes although my voice has dropped a bit with age. I’m 76 and still singing.
Sorry but this whole show she was lip synching over pre recorded tracks.
@@kevincosgrove948 I think you're right. You can see it near the end of the song.
Neil's tone is so recognizable, his licks are right up there with EVH...and im not kidding
You must be drunk! Evh is beyond Neil! Neil a good player has a nice tone especially when he used carvin amps but EVH is the GOAT
@@randymoran67no, SRV and Hendrix are Goats.
No disrespect to Ed...
You're comparing apples and oranges. Two vastly different styles.
Neil Geraldo played the guitar lead in Rick Springfields' "Jessie's Girl." The producer was not enamored with his guitar skills and called in Neil to clean it up. Really. Everytime Rick heard his song he is haunted by Neil Geraldo.
Pat's voice still there.😮
One of the best vocalist ever
Never get tired of Neil's playing. ❤
ditto. why nobody doesn't talk about him being one of the best around is mind-blowing!!
@@brianoconnor7796Pat Benatar and Neil Giraldo are Mister and Missus Rock And Roll. Her singing and his guitar playing make quite a team. His guitar playing and her singing complement like no others.
@@jasonburger3533 I would definitely agree with you
@@brianoconnor7796Thanks for that; It is nice that they both are getting some major attention after all these years, not that they were not still touring, but it is good that the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame finally woke up and inducted the both of them. That should have been done years ago. In their 70s, their music and bond appears to be stronger than ever.
@@jasonburger3533 absolutely agreed
Watched the show on tv. Totally blown away. I do believe Pat was my first crush growing up. She has not missed a beat.
I love how they rock together in life and music! Forever young! I practiced/warm-ups singing to her music when I sang in bands.
Aside from the fact that Neil is an outstanding instrumentalist, he brings a wonderfully happy energy to his playing. He's clearly enjoying himself--and, I've gotta tell ya--that's BRILLIANT!!!
How Cool would it be to have grandparents like this
I’ve loved Pat Benatar from the beginning! We all have gray hair now, but she still sounds amazing!
Pat looks fantastic. She is aging gracefully. Best to them.
Always go back and forth over Pat Benatar or Ann Wilson as favorite female rock vocalist...love them both!
I can solve the back and forth, neither, Kate Bush is the best.
Spyder & Pat aging gracefully together and still slaying it! Unapologetic authentic Seniors still rocking it like they’re in their 20’s. Neither one of them has lost a step artistically or musically. Class act all the way!
Neil Geraldo, one of the best guitar players ever. Incredible command of the guitar.
Pat Benatar is a goddess
Killer solo, as always with Neil!
He's like a B grade version of Randy Rhoads 😎
Why even compare? He's an A grade Neil. :)@@hinjurock70
Totally. Neil rocks!
@TheArtofGuitar
Because some of his licks remind me of Randy, but he's not on that level. I've thought that he's a really good guitarist since the 80's and also very underrated but he's also not top tier like Randy, EVH, Michael Schenker, Uli Roth, Dimebag, Neal Schon, Gary Moore, etc.
They still sound fabulous-how awesome. She has some of the best pipes in the business...and Neil looks and plays great as usual.
She's still has that strong set of vocals after 41yrs. She's been around a long time and still has her incredible music and Neil still has the moves on the guitar 🎸. They make great music together ❤. I'm 66yrs old now and have listened to Pat Benatar since she started. She's still beautiful. I haven't heard a bad song yet!! Her voice hasn't changed a bit. Keep moving forward everyone.
Neil is without a doubt one of the most under rated guitar players of his time.
We are all Blessed by the decades of music of Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo and this live performance!
Pat and Neil looked as they are having a blast….everyone on staged looked relaxed and having fun!….great to see the smiles and the fun interactions…
The music speaks for itself : their love and marriage speaks to us all!
She adapted those high notes very well. Awesome seeing Neil playing a Les Paul for a change too.
She is a classically trained vocalist I heard and she does have quite a range. Very talented lady!
They still got it after all those years together. 💞
Change of key doesn't lend itself to Neil's fantastic guitar abilities. Dude is seriously one of the most underated players of the era.
Irrelevant. FAIL...
He has sold over $15 million albums. How, exactly is he underrated? lol
@@MikaelLewisify He is underrated in that he never makes a greatest guitar top 100…..not that they mean anything….Very few people know his name. Especially here in the uk. Promises was 1981. Long before SRV and Slash for example. His rhythm guitar ….often syncopated with the drums is as good or better than "Luke" SL. And EVH who were the big boys at the time. Find the Tim Pierce interview it’s awesome Also Tim says he is underrated. And Tim is always right ! I am guessing that you are a fan like me anyway as you cited 15 million albums….actually I think it more than 30. But as a very poor guitarist myself, I always name him for all round ability only second to Michael Schenker. Have a great day my friend 😊
@@johnycat7373 do you really give a shit about “greatest guitarist” lists?
@@MikaelLewisify Of course not . I think that I made that clear in my reply. Quote " not that they mean anything"
And I am not criticising your comment. It’s just that many people like Tim Pierce think that he is underrated.
I was assuming that you and I both recognise his greatness. Once again , Have a great day.
Pat & Neil, I have been with you every step of the way. Now 60, I still get VERY emotional listening and watching you perform. My ❤️ is touched by all the memories.👍💋
i am grateful to have grown old with these wonderful musicians.. oh you crooked rain...
you know your getting old when PBS is having Pat Benatar
Another great guitarist from Cleveland. Love you Pat and Neil
They still rock after all this time. Simply Awesome.
Neil's tone is always superb.❤
Neil still rocks the guitar and Pat still sounds incredible. This metal head always liked her music.
Rock Icons !!!!!!
Wow-they still got it-amazing!
Pat sounds excellent, Neil is a great musician. Been a fan since i first heard them on the radio in 79 or 80 whenever heart breaker was released. We getting old, lol
Still rocking as good as they were in the 1980’s!! I just hope I have that rocking energy when I get their age….. Wait a min, I am that age!!
I love husband and wife teams. Always nice when folks like each other... 41 years, dang got us beat by 3...
After all these years, they are still great!
Pat Benatar is the ultimate female rock vocalist. What an amazing talent, and Neil Giraldo is the ultimate accompaniment. Dynamic duo.
Awesome performance ! Neil doesn't get nearly enough recognition for his songwriting and guitar playing abilities.🤟🤟🎸✌️♥️♥️
✌️💜💜
I am really glad these 2 met each other back in the day otherwise we would have missed all this great music and singing. No one needs to tell them to rock on. They've got it down.
What a voice ! What a guitar playing ! Great artists
Thanks for making me cry Pat.
That was some serious guitar playing..holy crap!
Such great memories from their start til now!! God, we were lucky to grow up in the 70’s, 80’s and beyond!❤️❤️❤️ they still sound great!
ALWAYS AN OUSTANDING SINGER.....A GIFT FOR ROCK LOVERS, I´M YOUR ADMIRED FOR EVER
The 21st century needs a Pat Benatar and her amazing husband in this world of absolute madness...
Amen... I'm almost 64, and I could not imagine being young today. Empty in so many ways.
Holy SHIT they still smoke !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And now I want a Gold Top Les Paul
I admit it. I love Pat Benetar. Neil ain't too bad either.
Used to play this song with my band in Atlanta and the crowd went nuts. Pat singing as good as ever. What a star.
I saved up my allowance (which wasn't much) and bought her first album in 1980 when I was 11 and she is still hands down my #1 favorite. Her songs have helped me a lot when I was growing up and throughout my life.
Awesome....do you still have the album??
My first album was Van Halen 1, one week later it was in the heat of the night. I remember buying them at pailings music store, Brisbane, Australia in 80. Van Halen were unheard of in Australia, but Pat got good radio airplay. She was my first great love, well her and a girl who was in my class. Unfortunately neither were into me.
1980 for me too.
❤ it was always a treat on Christmas morning to go to grandmas and grandpas for all of us grandkids to get our Music 🎶 🎵 gift cards for thw local record shops to go buy our favorite albums ❤ Liquorice Pizza Music Plus Rhino Ŕecords Tower Records The Wherehouse so much fun times😊 thanks for the walk down memory lane
I saw these two in 1979 at a 1000 seat club..they rocked! Both are so talented and I'm glad they are still out there making people happy.
Tears.... Such a beautiful song. Pat has such amazing tone, power and control. hearing that voice brings me back to a time of endless possibilities, some of which I have achieved:) This guitar solo may be the best solo in history. Neil is unparalleled. I heard Tim Pierce saying that it was terrifying having to go on stage with Rick Springfield and try to recreate Neil's guitar work:)
Awesome....legend, first woman played on MtV...
Pat still sounds great! Neil can still kill it!
I've loved their music for over four decades. Glad to see them still going!
They STILL GOT IT.
It's great they enjoy performing and travelling together 40 years later. Sound great too !
If I could shred like that, I'd be smiling like Neil too.
The dynamic duo is at it again...amazing singing and great guitar riffs😊😊😊😊😊😊
Just caught this tonight on PBS. Love Boomer bands that still deliver the goods. Benatar's still got the vocal chops and Giraldo absolutely kills on lead. Amazing sound from just the lead, drums, and bass.
Her high notes are gone though.
@@I_Fight_Instacart She's 71.....smh
@@SmiggyG And? The OP said, "Benatar's still got the vocal chops." I'm just pointing out that that's not entirely true. She sounds better than some of the other 80s singers who are still trying to sing even though their voices are shot, but she has in fact lost a couple steps.
Neil is such a talent. I love to watch him play! 🎸
I've been jealous of the tone Neil Giraldo gets out of a guitar for 45 years...
These two, nor Myron Grombacher, their amazing red headed inferno of a drummer back in the day, never got the respect as the Maestros they truly are. This drummer is spot on and reminds me of Myron's intensity. Who is this drummer please?
Looks like Tony Pia.
Thank you! Going to have to check him out.
absolutely agree
Myron was a beast though! … he performed with them at the R&R hall of fame show … even brought his old Ludwig floor Tom for the show …
IMO, their best song. And 44 years later, still kicking it in the ass! Amazing...
Love this woman and her music plus her husband is my ultimate crush.
Looking good When you got it you got it thanks for the walk down memory lane their music is timeless ❤
Spider underrated, Pat amazing, together GLORIOUS!!!
They're both STILL amazing.
If you weren’t there at the time, you’ll never understand how great those times were. Its as if it was yesterday.
Smoking set. One great rockabilly guitar play meets classically trained chic- = Magic
Fantastic. Neilalways delivers. Great playing.
Neal's licks are just as tight as they were in 1984 when I saw them live in OKC.
Neil always has the perfect guitar tone for whatever he's playing.
Very tasty, articulate player.
WOW - what a great performance! Love Spyders guitar/piano playing and Pat’s vocals. Pure talent!
Been a Benatar fan for a long long time. Her voice may not be the same but it's as strong as ever and this was a great show. Thank you both for your music and for your love of each other.
Watched this Saturday night amazing performance!
All you young musicians...this is how it's done!!!...Just bass, drums and guitar and it sounds HUGE!!!...They are responsible for time, placement and playing the RIGHT shit!!!...
I’ve been a fan of these two since I was 10 (back in 1980 - when my brother listened to her), and this is just incredible all these years later. Just as great! 🇨🇦🤘🏼
W O W !!! They are truly an American RnR Music Treasure.
Wow still a great voice
