2016 Leaf owner here (bought it used in 2019). The perfect car for city errands and for my high school aged kid! We don't care if it gets dinged, we know she can't suddenly road trip unannounced, and it costs nothing to charge on 110V. Love the quirky look, too. Had a friend call it a "dragonfly" based on the funky headlights -- this has become the car's nickname.
I have almost the same, having a Seat Mii electric, called the Garlic car, it is a white small car that has 160 miles in range during summer months but less during winter. Extremely cheap, easy to park, fast and easy to drive in town and in narrow streets.
I did the exact same thing for the exact same reasons. Got my 2014 in 2017 for $9000. Great little car.
In Quebec, gas and oil-based heating systems have been on the way out for decades now. The vast majority of homes run on 100% electricity. Convection heaters and baseboard heaters have a massive market share, and heat pumps are used in most higher end homes.
Also in Quebec, winters are soooo much colder than pretty much anywhere in America.
Yep, it works.
Got a used model 3 2019 with no regrets has been running like a dream has been my fav car and I don’t think I could go back to an ice vehicle
Just bought 2016 chevy volt for 6k net after tax credit.
the hardest thing is to find a dealer willing to do POS used tax credit. So so hard.
Yes I am struggling so bad lol or they're willing to do it but then the price is higher
So glad to hear the Mini SE brought in to the conversation, and the 'fun to drive' factor being mentioned. We love ours!
I don't want to ever do over 400 miles in a day, serious fatigue. Bolt will work just fine. Also, pick up a gen. 2 Volt! It's an electric car with a range extender. 50+ miles all electric and then 200+ miles electric with the range extender.
As a city car I love my egolf. Definitely not one for a single car household, but if you can charge at home and have something else for road trips it’s a great option.
Agree with you on the Ioniq Electric. I have had one for four years and think it's a great car. Super efficient. I really have no complaints about it other than the short range. Also, the earlier 28kwh battery model actually charged faster than the Bolt. Peaked at around 65kw. Given the efficiency and small battery, actually not bad at charging.
Fantastic. You are an early, early adopter. I bought my 2024 Ioniq 6 in January and LOVE it.
For the VW ID.4, just make sure it has been updated to the 3.1+ software. Huge improvement - from a current 2 year owner 2021 ID4
Like what
Better efficiency, faster charge, faster info center screen response, and a few software bugs ironed out
you kinda already did it in this video but you might want to double down on another video for used electric cars between $25k and $35k for customers who can't get the used EV tax credit and would feel basically insane for picking anything other than a brand new base model Y at $35k after new EV tax credit.
One minor correction on the Bolt, 2019 and older battery packs was 60 kw (that pack had the fire concerns). 2020 and newer started using the 66 kw pack, which is the new pack for the older models also.
Great info. I like the Kia Kona and Niro. I see them a lot. Interesting about SOC (low or high) for long periods of time. I love your "driving" videos.
Thank you, guys, for such an informative video. Max, it's nice to see you without the skiing glasses this time haha, you have beautiful eyes.
Max does have beautiful blue eyes.
New TH-cam name for y’all
On the contrary boys
Great info thanks
I love your guys dynamic
Great video for sure! Important topic, well covered.
Outstanding effort, You two covered the category remarkably quickly. Glad to see BMW i3 made the Honorable Mention List. I am an EV Nerd, and I learned some things! Respect!
I'm surprised you guys brushed over the Kia Niro EV. In New England, they are easy to find under $25k. That was my plan. It's such a practical choice. The only problem... the styling is so boring. I just couldn't get excited to get one.
I have an Hyundai Ioniq 28 KWh battery. It is DC fast charging at more than 70 kw and is insane efficient. The car has almost 5 years and I didn't see any degradation.
What about an audi etron? 2019's coming way down in price
Thank You folks for All that you are doing for our Planet Earth.... Peace.. Shalom.. Salam.. Namaste 🙏🏻 😊 🌈 ✌ ☮ ❤
Max and Ryan, Breaking News. Last night we did an update to our Rivian Navigator for Supercharger search. I did not see how to verify my mailing address for the adapter yet.
The Mini SE is a compelling EV for FUN. I would have bought new but hated the range and battery chemistry at the price point for new. Agreed, as a used vehicle, totally fun.
On the model 3 battery degredation problem, you can simply check how much the car has degraded before you buy it.
36:00 EV6 for 30k or under is awesome because a crossover/great battery chemistry. But shameless plug for Bob King Hyundai/Kia/Genesis in Winston-Salem North Carolina had a NEW Ioniq 6 (sedan) for 34K but RWD. I wanted AWL so mine was 38K new.
You guys need to do some research about range and battery size before presenting. Ioniq has 28kwh or 38kwh battery...
depends on the year. MX30 only has 100mile range not the 130mi you state. Mini is rated at 114mi range. Plenty of NIRO EV's under 25k. Some decent low mileage ones in the teens.
ID4 has quite a number of complaints about reliability....( check all the comments on car complaints)....hard to understand why you recommend it as reliable.
wait a minute! The Tesla Model S was their first attempt at making a car???? All the Tesla Roadster owners beg to differ LOL
yes, it was their first attempt from the ground up. The original roadster was based on a Lotus platform
I just got a 2021 Kia Niro EV with 13,200 miles on it for 17k out the door after some negotiation and used ev tax credit applied at point of sale. killer deal imo
Can you do a plug-in phev video with tax credits?
I'd get a Kia EV6. They are available for $25k-$27k, so might have to bargain to get it down to $25k. Toyota bz4x is also close to $25k.
What ev6 have you seen that low?
@@alextrainor2552 check cars, autotrader, etc
The mach-e is now breaking under the 25k as well. As well as another flex ev, the jaguar I-pace Is now starting to break under 25k. Not particularly a good ev but you can say you drive a jag lol
How long do you have to keep the used car and can you use it for Uber driving?
According to the form, if the vehicle is used and $4000 credit was received the business/personal use doesn't apply? Can you get a used vehicle and occasionally use it for rideshare driving? Mixed use, maybe 50/50 business/personal miles and deduct mileage (not actual cost)?
You couldn't pay me to drive an ID4, especially the earlier ones that would now qualify.
Can someone help me with this question?
Example: Used Chevy Bolt is advertised
at dealership for 10,000:
but after the sales tax and
other fee's from the dealer
the cost is more like 11, 500 out the door:
but I also I also wish to purchase an extended warranty
adding another 1500.00 to the total price
bringing the final price to
13,0000, (if I also add the extended warranty)
_________________________________________________
Can I say on the IRS EV used car credit program,
that the cost of the car was
13,000? or do I have to use only the
10,000 price of the car, excluding the sales tax and dealer fee's
and extended warranty cost ?
Most 2020-2021 Bolts are now excluded from a battery swap if a new software update determines that the battery is “OK”
Buyers will encounter these as having the original battery and probably the software update which limits charging to 80% for 6200 mi and pending no problems… 100% is restored.
The software update constitutes the recall work being completed.
Have a question, what if someone didn’t make enough money last year, like zero income or very minimum income, will they still be eligible for the full 4000 tax credit at the point of sale?
All good. See our video on tax credits!
What's the income cap for taking advantage of the $4000 off?
75k single/married filling single, 150k married filing jointly
Just a minor correction, the Polestar has similar charge rates but it's slower than a base Model 3. It'll do 10-80% in about 23 minutes for the LFP car.
Less than 15 Bolts caught fire.. just saying
Mazda did an ev just to say they did it 🤣
That car is poop
