I have a set of these at home, that I still play from time to time. Great set of clubs. I even have the matching driver and fairway woods. Great set, even by today's standards

I just bought the ladies version. I had a low budget to reinvest in golf clubs after 15 years of inactivity. I’m very confident in these irons. Now, let’s work on technique!

Just bought the whole set, drivers included yesterday's evening. First time golfer and even if they 20+ y.o., I really think I bought a great starting kit.

I picked up a full set 3-9, P, A, L with rifle shafts, as well as the TM Burner Supersteel & Burner 3w with bubble shafts, over the last year.
    My first set ever
They feel great and play well for such dated clubs.
People comment on the copper look often and I love the aesthetic.
With a Taylormade Ardmore 2 Black Copper to top it off, it’s hard to beat the look for me

Still have my bubble shafts and love them. I originally bought them because steel shafts were killing my wrists on off center hits (off the toe). These still have the original grips and they feel like new!

Was my first set playing high-school golf. Loved those irons in steel rifle shaft.

I've got a set of these - 5-PW with rifle steel shafts. Luv them. No crazy lofts or go faster stripes. Nice and simple. Great handles too. You know everyone goes on about the grip being so important in golf and it is. But there isn't much talk about how important good handles are for getting a good grip. These feel great I think.

I, shockingly, still play a s90 steel shafted 3-pw of these. I love them. I tend to hit the middle, where they feel great, but they are still forgiving on offcenter hits. I also appreciate the truer lofts. Don’t have problems hitting past playing partners with these either. Can’t justify replacing them.

Thank you for the detailed review. I've owned these irons since ~1998. I have the factory s90 shafts and always found them very playable. I've attempted to upgrade to blades 2x but found myself going back to these. Not to say there aren't better clubs out there, just saying these are very comfortable for me personally. Long irons are forgiving and the short irons have plenty of workability.

Just bought a set of these from play it again sports this morning for $60, 3-8 and pw can’t wait to give them a try. Love the black and copper look of the graphite bubble shaft hope they play as well as their look. I’m going to clean up the faces after I watch a video on that and put on some fatter grips

Found a set in the garbage 2 years ago. I ordered a mini burner 2024, 13.5° yesterday. I'm going to play a round with them. The 3w & 5w that was also found in the garbage say firesoul on the bottom-You're saying they're next years model?

So cool to stumble across this vid.... i've just bought a set of these (6-9 S P). Set came with a nice few other clubs. Never thought about the age of these irons, but they feel great!

I have been using a set of these since high school! 20 years or so I have had them. I think my Uncle gave them to me.
I like them, and can hit them well, but I'm well overdue for a new set!

@@slimrick I found my Sand Wedge last week, so now I have a set from 2I all the way to SW!!!
The only issue I have with replacing them is the new irons are all very strong lofted, so my gaps would be huge! I don't like hitting a 7I 200 yards when my 9I only goes 140.

A co-worker said he had a set of clubs in his attic. I said "bring'em and I'll take look". Six months later, he brought a set of Taylormade LCG bubble 2 shaft R-80 to work. I went to the range. Very first strike I was sold. They felt so much better than my Ping Eye 2 black dot. That was 7 yrs. ago. Now I need grips. PROBLEM! Just came in from my local pro shop. They said they couldn't re-grip them. They said it was why the bubble shaft didn't last.

my uncle gave me a full set of the Taylormade burner oversized 1996 I beleive they came out exact same type without the bubble shafts tho.. I gamed them for years.. gave them to my dad last year got a set of callaway x series irons ... im goin back to my old burners love the feel

I still own a set of LCG irons with steel rifle shaft. They were great irons. I played them for about 12 years. I've been playing a set of nike forged ever since but I might have to pull them back out. I even have the 3 iron and a gap A iron. Plan on giving them to my 14 year old if he takes up golf

I still play with 1999 Supersteel irons. Never played much until now, so they are in excellent condition. I can hit them, so no real desire to upgrade as I just don’t think my game could be improved with another $1000 investment.

My dad gave me this set of irons when he got his new set, (ping eye 2’s of all sets) and all I have to say is, they may be older than I am, but they’re great clubs for someone like me. Near to being a scratch golfer, but not quite there yet. They’ve worked well for me with everything being original on them.

    • @jayfron6012
      @jayfron6012 ปีที่แล้ว

I also got a set handed down to me from my dad. As a new golfer, theyre certainly not easy to hit compared to modern clubs, but they teach you to swing right if you want clean hits

  • @josephdurkin8180
    @josephdurkin8180 4 ปีที่แล้ว

I have the exact same clubs but they are copies and they the exact same. They hit perfect just got them the other day and when I played with them, I was hitting the ball straight every fricken time I swung the club. And they get pretty good distance as well. I love them and I actually had the matching driver before hand actually made by Taylor made. The copy set i have is the taurus plus oversize, and they are exactly the same even including specifications and material

My first real set of irons. Hand me downs from my dad. R80 steel iron shafts 3-P. S90 steel 2-iron. Still have them and play them from time to time. He had the bubbleshafts for a short time but sold them to one of my teachers and then I think he had firesoles
Old TM logo was better IMO

TGIF!!!!! How fickle people are with their golf clubs. Now take myself here I've loved TaylorMade metal woods all through their history. Now TaylorMade irons on the other hand were not loved or even liked. I had a couple of friends who have had them through the years and every one that I hit felt not very flattering. Thank you for bringing back a blast from the past and you have to love the Bubble shaft concept though! So cool.

I have the firesol graphite versions of these and they are heavy and stiff and if you're not used to them they'll cause you a lot of muscle strains.

I have a set of these but my swing has slowed down, I’m 66, and they just don’t go that far for me anymore. Mine are the full set 3 thru sand wedge with the r-80 bubble graphite shafts.

I had these fitted for me in high school. Upgraded to new pings and my game slumped. Went back to these and back to 7 handicap. I have them in steel shafts. Tried the bubbles but they are way too flimsy.

  • @ScottPierce365

I enjoyed your review. I've been playing these Irons since 1998. Steel shafts and I replaced grips with Jumbo sized to better fit my hands. I played often for first ten years I owned them then reduced that to couple times a year. The last year Ive been playing five times a week and I'm considering upgrading my Irons. Do I just go with the newest offering from Taylor made? Callaway? Ping? All claim to have the best game improvement clubs. I want to break 80, (8 over or less on a real course) , I'd like to drop 5-10 strokes form my game.. any suggestions?

Thank you for reviewing these. I’ve had this same set now for over Ten years now. They were given to me. I’m curious as to know if you think upgrading this set to say some RBladez would help improve someone’s game who’s an occasional golfer? I play on average about once a month but hit the range two to three times monthly. Thanks for any input.

these remind me of Wilson staff midsize irons same time I think and sort of a diamond in the rough although think the Wilson staff midsize irons are better looking. They just didn't follow the trends at the time. Just saying you should look at the Wilson staff midsize irons
