I JUST sold these iron sets after a few years of tinkering with vintage iron sets! Love the video !!!!

Yeah, I still got those in my bag, bought them used in 2001 for a low price as the 3 iron had a bent shaft. I remember these new when I just started playing golf at 29, my freind bought the oversize version. These were expensive especially with the bubble shaft. Ernie Els, Mark O'meara, Lee Janzen, Tom Lehman...they all won tournaments with these and were fairly popular on tour as these are cast blades with a dent really. I hated the paint and first filled the cavity with lead tape, hated the weight so off with these lead and I basically scratched all the paint out and polished them a bit, looks more stealth or blade like. The sole has bounce thru the set which helps out on steep swings, these are old news now but back then the Taylor Made burner tour irons were #1.

I agree with you about the importance of TM's color at the time. I still recall my father getting a set of TM's Bubble shafts. So much nostalgia with this video. Thank you!

In the 90's I was gaming a set of Wilson 1200 Irons, and Metal Woods. The TaylorMade's with copper paint really stood out and were performing as well, some scrambles I played in some guys gamed them and as I recall were pretty good players. Thanks for another offering.

Every once in a while you still see someone gaming some TMs from that era and its that bronze paint that confirms it. I remember having a kids version of some bronze paint irons in the late 90s with a bubble shaft driver lol

I notice that you say hosel with a long o. I thought it was pronounced with a short o. Beyond that, I appreciate your videos. Great work as always.

Love the vids, please keep them coming! I’m trying to put together a 90s set with different clubs through the whole set. This TM iron won’t be in my set.

I have a random 5,7,8,9 if you want. But, since you kind of don’t like these, never mind. I’ll just donate them to my local range, or sell them for $10 each.

Seems like a good set to have around for your guests.

The black Walter Hagen bag on the range is pretty sweet! 👌

I’ve been using these clubs for 20 years. They have graphite shafts and my dad gave them to me when he switched to steels when I was a kid. I’ve broken several of them bc of the graphite shafts vs my swing speed so am unfortunately looking to get a new set. Curious to know what’s most comparable on the market today.

If I’m a beginner, are these good irons to start with?

TGIF! Argh! I remember when they came out and all I could think was Uuuuugly! But you know what they say........"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." This might just be the first time I've said next please. :)

A little off topic maybe, but have you considered what golf balls to pair with your 90s set? Or other sets possibly? I'm like you and have a soft spot for the 90s and early 2000s and just wondered what ball you were playing? All I recall are Top Flite xl2000's LOL

I found a NOS Northwestern Irons and woods set still in the box, they're some sort of Thunderbirds and they're blades l, but I've only seen one photo. Any clue of a value?

Not an expert, but the Northwesterns were lower end clubs back in the day. Now a days they are in the bargain bins. That being said, Thunderbirds are good very playable clubs. My advice, (not as a expert) play them and have fun.

Please review the Yonex ADX Tour irons from the 1990s - they are awesome!

I'm one of those that can hit an awe inspiring shot (lucky) and suddenly the "ugliness" of the clubs in my mind changes to an unappreciated thing of beauty. 😅

I agree, aside from the bronze color scheme, these irons might perform, but are un-inspiring from a uniqueness point of view.

These still go £80- 100 in the uk which is odd ass you can get better irons like ping or cobra for less money

I agree, they look like a bad, corduroy, brown suit.
