    What a really nicely produced video; personally I would apply some copper ease to the mating parts and back of the pads (not too much!) to minimise brake squeal if they don’t include shims (these don’t look like they do) and use a torque wrench, at least on the wheel nuts, plus don’t forget to remove the cap from the master cylinder before retracting the pistons, leave it off during retraction and make sure brake fluid doesn’t overflow during (promptly wash spilt brake fluid off with water), or exceed the max point after the new pads are in and brakes applied to bring everything together properly.

      In general, the replacement will be similar, the only thing that may differ slightly in the design features of your car.

    no copper slip on the friction sides of brake pad? dont open the brake fluid reservoir when pushing the brake pad piston back?

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment!
      Copper paste, which is applied to the friction part of the pads, applied at will and is not necessary for cars that are not operating under heavy loads.
      It is also not necessary to open the brake fluid reservoir if you did not add fluid during the operation of the old pads.

    • @autodocuk
      @autodocuk  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the feedback! After doing such replacement you don't need to bleed the brake system. Best regards, Autodoc.

      Rob B You just need to remove the brake fluid cap before pressing the brake caliper piston so the fluid will push up with ease.

    Aren't there two small retaining screws on the disc?

      Yes, the disk is held with two bolts, unfortunately, in order to save time, we did not show this.

      Autodoc is wrong about the screw holes. The disc rotors for the yaris with those 2 holes are there only to be used with screws to push the disc off the hub in case it gets stuck due to galvanic corrosion.

    Autodoc did some mistakes on this service. Those brakes are gonna make noise in the long run due to no shims used. Second, the slots on the calipers where the pads slide in need to be lubricated with a small amount copper grease so they operate smoothly and quietly. The brake piston as well as the pads need a small dab of copper grease as well. The 17mm caliper brackets bolts need to be torqued to around 80 ft lbs while the 14mm caliper bolts at 26 ft lbs.

    Hmm, 52 euro or 280? Yeah, my Autodoc parts arrived today. Brake cleaner costs a fortune in Belgium. Acetone costs 2 euro for a liter and it cleaned the protective coating from the disks perfectly. You won't see any mechs at Auto 5 emptying can after can of brake cleaner. When they do need it, they use it with rags. And a rag moistened with white spirit will really clean up the oil drips after a change. Don't get youtubed into throwing your money away.

    • @tardeliesmagic
      @tardeliesmagic 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RobBob555 These are not normal gloves.Mainly used in cold weather but these are industrial mechanic gloves and are good for grip,your skin breaths better so it won't get sweary,sharp corners won't cut through as easy and out lasts latex gloves so cheaper,get grease/oil on latex it gets slipy and grip is no goos so on these gloves you'll still have lots of grip.Latex do break quick and a hassle as removing them are not cost effective...1x box of 100 gloves £8 1x pair industrial mechanics gloves £10...you go through many latex gloves in a day.
