Your presentation of how the components work in real time with split screens and perfect camera angles was outstanding. Thank you for your professionalism.
My GOD, this is by far the BEST video on youtube regarding brakes/pads/rotors! 1. video is super clear, bright light! 2. Clear close up shots 3. Very good video angles 4. Very simple explanations Can't fault this video 1 bit! I taught at university level in Architectural computing and this would be a HD+ presentation if I was grading it! Well done mate!
As a professional sometimes I like to see what Information different people are putting out. You are TOP NOTCH. You even mentioned some things a lot of us forget over time. Very impressed.
I’ve replaced drum and disk breaks dozens of times in my life, yet always like checking out videos before I take on a project. This video was an outstanding demonstration of how braking systems work, and I would recommend it to anyone. One consideration - many modern 4 wheel disc systems have a parking brake that requires a special tool. Be sure to RTFM for your vehicle before taking those on.
JDG, I've been working on cars for over 30 years. This is the best video of simplified explanation on break function and squeaking I've seen. It's a great video for the non-mechanic in helping owners understand the basic function of the the caliper and pads. It's also a great video for the novice mechanic in learning the much needed tips. A VERY well thought our video. I haven't checked your channel yet but if you haven't do one on the Master Brake Cylinder and Lines. Thanks for sharing you knowledge with us. Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith Noneya
Keith Noneya why you watching TH-cam about cars I wouldn't trust my car to you if you are watching TH-cam how to fix a car. LOL NVM I want to be a mechanics to but please tell me how is it to be one.
Keith you literally beat me to it word for word, i took my first gearbox out on my own age 16 and now 46, DSG the answer to your question is simple, if i studied every thing to know about all the cars i needed to know about from 1988 and decided i needed no further education on cars i would be in major trouble now, the best way to learn in life is from other people mistakes, people like me and Keith watch things like this for that reason, to your question of would you trust me or Keith to fix your car now ???
This was by far THE BEST brake video I have ever seen on TH-cam or anywhere else and I’ve been watching them and doing my own brakes for nearly 40 years!!! Fantastic camera work and editing. The explanations were also very clear. No fluff. Excellent video.
I’ve watched ALOT of “How to” videos and this is by far the best explained and most concise video I’ve ever seen; on ANY subject. Very well done! Thank you.
I like how you dumbed it down and make the real easy for anyone to understand and you took the time to do this perfect video edits to show the whole process
I've been watching a lot of TH-cam 'How to' videos on car maintenance during shelter-in-place and fixing things myself on my 2003 Toyota Sequoia. This is one of the best, most informative instructional videos I have ever seen. I learned so much that I wish I had known about brakes during the past 38 years of driving. I've had the rotors on my Sequoia replaced twice in 220K miles. After watching this video, i will probably have my mechanic replace the rotors once more with a larger sized upgrade, but i will start replacing brake pads myself now that I understand how to do it right. Before watching this, I simply "didn't know what I didn't know" and because I considered brakes the most critical part of a car, I didn't have any inclination to attempt to work on it myself. This video and my recent experience fixing things myself changed my entire perspective. When I think back, I have overpaid for so many easy maintenance tasks that could have been DIY. I fell a little stupid... Ugh!
Excellent editing providing a clear and simple explanation of brake function. You've obviously put a lot of thought into the story and production. I've watched a few vehicle DIY videos, but you have taken car mechanics videos to the next level.
Wow! This is one of the finest videos I've seen on youtube. Your production skills are excellent. Your editing helps keep the pace up so that viewers don't get bored. I like how you had the brakes used in action, they were turning, to demonstrate how they work. I was a Broadcasting major in college, and later I got a teaching credential in math and science. Both your teaching and video production skills are superb. Keep making videos!!
Watched an hour's worth of other brake videos to diagnose and understand what's going on with my CUV. This is by far the best video on brakes I've seen. Very thorough and great editing.
I have been changing brakes since I was old enough to do so, trained in the R.E.M.E British army, and I have never been given such a great explanation on brake changing, well done sir 💯
Goodbye Chris Fix, from now on to be considered an amateur. So excellent and complete, this explanation! And no cheap animations used, but actual material.
Very informative and well made video. So many reasons for brake squeal. I had a constant squeak, only when brakes we're not applied, that drove me nuts. I had replaced my pads and rotors, lubed guide pins and cleaned/lubed the hardware. Turns out it was the pads. I won't mention the auto parts store, but even the best aftermarket pads can have issues. Ended up going to the dealer and paid more for OEM pads, but it did solve the problem. Wanted to comment after I had watched this and did a repeat job to thank you for being so clear and concise. Definite sub from me.
This might be the best video I've seen on brakes 😊 one more thing I want to point out is when you buy aftermarket brake pads sometimes you have to sand a bit on the ends of the pads to get them to fit 😅
My wife and I just watched this video and were both amazed at how well you explained everything! You made perfect sense throughout. Thank you so much! 😁
I hardly ever comment on TH-cam videos, but feel the need to on this video. This must be one of thé most informative, good camera work, well edited, good light & great sound TH-cam videos I've ever seen.
YES!!!!!!!!!!! This is the best video ever and I mean that so seriously. This cannot fail at explaining to someone with ZERO info on brakes. I am so impressed with this.
Really well done.. I’ve got a Mazda 6 and had a brake job 6 months ago and very little mileage since. I’m getting a clunking noise all of a sudden.. feel it in the pedal as well.. making me crazy!
I am gonna see if my mechanic does even one of these things. And if not I am sure he is honest enough to do it on the next brake job once I ask him. This video gets an A+
Bravo my friend!! I very rarely watch a whole video on here- I was trying to explain to my son @ squeaky brakes- and found your video.. it was amazing!! You covered everything!! Kudos!!!

I must agree with everyone else, your video is one of the best I've seen when it comes to understanding what is going on with solution. Fantastic video! I was searching for how to remove a window seal so I can tint my windows, lol and saw this video in the recommendations. I've lost 15 minutes of my time tinting my windows but gained much needed knowledge and understanding with what's happening with my brakes right now. Thank you so much!
Top Notch Teaching for the simpler guys/gals out there, Absolutely! Easy to follow and understand; very helpful. Thank you for your quality work and all the hours spent on making this video. God bless.
This is by far the BEST informative video I've ever seen regarding the noises found when braking on a car, and how to rectify them. Thank you for sharing it, I now know why I'm getting a grinding noise on the from of my car. The brake pads and discs are fine, but the caliper glide pins are sticking.
Wow! I've seen some vids about brakes, but this one excells. The camera angles are great, perfect focus and impressive editing. The content is very well explained and set in a logical way. Keep up the good work!
Outstanding quality! Wow, everything is clear, and we see all of what you talk about. No "I did that off camera, but you have to do this...", because you do everything on camera. WOW!
👍 Incredible! Well done! One of the very best on TH-cam breaking down brakes and potential noise problems. So detailed, informative and very very helpful. For me anyway and I’m sure for many more as well. Again, incredible job!
This is by far the best video I have seen in TH-cam. Well done with great detail and, more importantly, no unnecessary dialog. Straight to the point! Great job!
I'm guessing you're that college student that didn't cut corners like these shady ass wannabe so called "Mechanics" that passed by cheating there asses off just to work at dealerships and high end places that rip people off for fun and money. You sir are my new Idol! My lady and I appreciate these videos that you're making for the public. I'm hoping that people will take a lesson from you and learn to comprehend the elements that can destroy mechanical properties of any vehicle, machine, etc. The way you make your TH-cam videos are basically spot on for younger/older viewers that are interested in learning beginner basic mechanics. Thank you for your videos. We can't wait to see what you can teach us next! :D
Brilliantly done! Very good, thorough description of how brakes work! Informative and simple enough for all to understand. Probably the best of the web for any type of repairs. Thanks for sharing & good job!
This is by far one of the best videos I’ve seen step-by-step explanation on how brake systems work and are repaired and what kind of pads to use and what actually happens when you press on the brakes pedal you’re done an excellent job thank you
Hey your video is awesome !!!!! It cleared my questions about breaks !!! I'm using a old car that has been in the mechanic shop a lot of times because of the brake noise and the noise still, I guess they never fixed it right... I don't know if it is because I'm a girl or what ... so I decided to do it myself and fix this Damn problem ... Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge S2
First time watching this video or any Video the Junky DIY guy does. Well made and and video is made perfect to wonder how its put together. Proud of you and will be checking more to save me money.
This has to be the best video I have watched on how a particular part works on a car. Incredible explanation. Excellent job. I have subscribed for more great videos.
Great video. I got my brake pad replaced at Acura in October 2023 They said that they resurfaced the rotors but by May 2024, the vibration in the steering wheel was worse than in October 2023. The dealership resurfaced the rotors but a little later the car started squeaking at low speeds. They are saying that nothing is wrong but the pads are already down to 7 and it’s only been 11 months now. I thought they should have replaced the pads with the resurface in May. I don’t know what to do at this point. I’ve only drove. 7,000 miles.
Thank you for your lesson on brakes. I have a Mercedes Benz c300. I’m having the issue of noisy brakes but I learned so much from your video, thank you 🙏🏻
Great video and detail explanation! I think you forgot to mention one more reason why there's noise on your brakes...after-market rotors. I replaced my brake pads/rotors 2 weeks ago. After installation, I got a grinding noise from the driver rear. I have a rear brake shoe/drum/ rotors setup. I must have gotten 3 different after-market rotors trying to figure out why the noise exist..even calling Power Stop to get a replacement rotor. No matter which after-market rotors I installed, there's grinding noise! Finally, I order a factory - Toyota rotor and long and behold...no more noise! Just to see that I wasn't crazy, put the after-market rotor and the noise came back. What I've found was that the after-market rotors bolts hole was slightly larger than the factory oem rotor which cause the brake play. What I can't understand is why did the other 3 wheels had no issue with the after market rotors/pads?
I watch a lot of car DIY videos and these are some of the best videos on TH-cam. Straight to the point, Excellent description,. I can tell a lot of work goes into making these videos. Thanks you .

Bro you dont deserve any neg thumbs this video is very very good and 100% CV correct new sub
And reason number 6. If brake caliper itself is not working as it should doesn't retracts because off a dirty rusted cylinder.. have a great day
