Your tutorial here was so precise in the steps I need to take to replace the drum brakes. You made it much simpler to understand and I am sure much simpler to do. thank you! This has so far been the best little car I ever owned. 421, 000 miles and still going.
Thanks for great video. Used it as reference for my Gen II 2005 Prius rear brake replacement. As I posted before, not obvious that there are sort of stepped notch in the adjuster setup. Turns out, it does matter and isn't really intuitive. Part towards the front, w/o the adjuster, stepped notch goes IN, towards the car. Part towards the rear, with adjuster, stepped notch goes OUT. Hope that helps someone else if they don't do as I do/did, do one side and use other side for comparison. I've done drum brakes since the middle 1970s, and have never run into this stepped notch, so it never occurred to me to check as I removed it. RichE
I agree about the front and rear adjuster differences..... and where the stepped-notches go... BUT.....the starwheel portion of the adjuster is always toward the FRONT of the car. Be careful when you use one side of the car to act as a template on the other side. To add some clarity, if we call each end of the adjuster a "fork".... for the front, the stepped side goes INSIDE the car, (as you said), and it must also hold a portion of the spring steel arm that contacts the starwheel. Going futher, this stepped-side fork "tine" is longer than it's mate of the same end. So, we can also say the "long tine" goes toward the INSIDE. On the other end of the adjuster.....the end pointing to the rear of the car, the stepped side (as you say) is toward the OUTSIDE of the car. This stepped-side "fork tine" is also longer than it's mate on other side, located toward the inside of the car. The long "tine" captures both the brake drum and a portion of the parking brake "plate".
My yaris's wheel thing is round with no indents like yours so I can't assemble the brakes and then put them in, there is no enough space for the big spring to go through the wheel and fluid thing.
Which way do the top cross piece/adjuster ends go? In the slot, there's a deep slot, and a shorter part of the slot on only ONE side. Does that shorter part go towards inside or outside? And is it the same on both ends? Thanks. RichE

Wish the ending showed adjustment but it the best video I've seen and it makes the most sense

What type grease it’s was apply on drums ?
Copper paste 7579 Liqui Moly is used

What kind of grease or lubricant did you apply?
