If you suspect the mechanic of over tightening the wheel bearings past the mentioned torque, what are the symptoms, scraping or squealing noises?

@@paulodee4098 i had the usually rumble in straight line that went away when turning. I then jacked up the car and there was a clacking sound when spinning the wheel. It should be silent or at worst a bit of brake binding noise only 👍

Hey! Great video, i got a Mercedes-Benz C 220 T CDI from 2012, that i assume i will need to change bearings on.
But i have a question regarding the spinning on your wheel at the end of the video, it seems that your wheel isnt spinning as freely as im used to, (regarding other brands that is).
The thing is, today i changed to my summertires and i noticed that when i spun the plates (after removing the wheel/tire), the plats spun very slow and had quite the resistence, so when i got the summerwheels on i tried again and i noticed that even with the wheels on, the tire spun, but with some restistence. Is this normal? Since my last car, a BWM, those front wheels spun like crazy just by hand when the car was lifted.
I have rearwheeldrive and this is the front wheels that spin with restistence. (Also no heat or other issues when driving.)

Can be brake dependent. They do certainly sing freely so maybe it was just how it came across in the video?

Unrelated question - did your car come with the mud flaps or did you install them yourself mate? I asked a Merc dealership but apparently there aren't any listed for AMG Line models...

They were from on EBay from China. Cost about £40 5yrs ago. Super quality and not degraded at all over time or 75k miles. Just search w213 mudflaps and the sport/AMG Line cars

Not sure if i missed it but what were your symptoms? My wifes 2017 GLC 300 has some vibration when we break. Local tire shop had mentioned the bearings were known to go out on these cars. Thanks.

It was the usual grumbling sound when driving which stopped when turning round a right hand bend. I then jacked the wheel of the ground and spun it ans there was a a slight clicking sound - it should be silent. In my case the left had gone and the right one (in the video) was just going so not so bad but was changed as more preventative maintenance.

How have the FAG wheel bearings been for you? As I have same car and they are £100, genuine Mercedes are £200 each.

So far so good after 30,000km 👍👍. They are an OE supplier for VAG and BMW so they are a quality replacement. I actually think the seal design on the back looks more robust than the Merc ones.

Great stuff i’ll get them ordered 👍🏽.
Reason for change is front brake discs keep warping and been advised wheel bearings are the issue even tho no noise! (For someone who has same experience) 🙂

I fitted a FAG bearing made by Schaeffler (Hey, check out FAG Wheel Bearing Kit in the AUTODOC app m.autodoc.de/fag/16438830). Is an OE supplier and good reputation. Mine was not as expensive as the current quoted price (think it was about €80) but there is usually an offer on somewhere 👍

I have replaced with “ABS” brand from AutoDoc (in Germany). So far so good after about 5000km. Will never buy Brembo again. Original MB ones did 100k km but we’re starting to judder and were below min thickness. The discs caused the bearing to fail due to the vibration under braking, otherwise they were ok.

@@mercedes_and_more thanks for the answer. in your opinion, what can cause the brakes to warp? the discs were changed 5 months ago and about 2000 miles have been driven and it’s same problem again.

@@mariuskucinas9729 i have heard all sorts of things. People on forums say it’s the auto hold handbrake causing the pads to stick in one area of the discs are warm (not about this as i am normally gentle on my brakes). Spoke to my brother in law (Kfz Meister here in Germany) - he said to tighten up the wheel nuts gentle. So 30,60,90,120,150 nm in stages using the usual star technique. Apparently this is what MB is telling people their technicians. He specialises in MB so I believe him. Also make sure that the wheel flange is immaculately clean and free of grease and also the back of the wheel. Might be worth checking your wheel alignment as mine was off (pot hole in the U.K.). Apart from that I’m out of ideas but there is much talk on the forums. That said my first set of MB discs were fine and my wife’s car (60k km from new) is ok and she always uses the auto hold. 🤔

Does this kit come with an integrated abs sensor as other makes mention the sensor but this kit does not?

    • @mercedes_and_more

So the bearing comes with whatever magnetit ring it uses for the ABS built in, but the actual ABS sensor doesn’t. This has to be removed from the hub before removing the bearing as shown in the video. Hope this helps/clarifies? 👍
