It doesn't look like either parent cared that much about this child. The father knew that the mother lived in a trailer and couldn't even afford to put food on the table and yet he still released Shaniya into her hands. No caring father would do that. The very fact that he forgave Shaniya's mother in the end for what she did to Shaniya, says it all and shows that he didn't love Shaniya.

I am not a father. I don't ever plan on being a father. But the rage and disgust I feel when I learn of the horrid things that parents have done to their kids makes me desperately want to save and protect these poor children. Children need to be protected, not exploited.

The murdered child's father is somewhat to blame as well for impregnating a near-stranger he met at a party. Both men and women need to choose well who they have kids with. Some of these other child-murder cases are even worse with long histories of abuse - often at the hands of the mother's partner who is not the baby-daddy. Twenty minutes of pleasure in the bed room could mean a lifetime of pain for a child conceived during that short time span.
Thats a big problem in this world. The people that would make good parents often dont have kids because they understanding the real responsibilities and sacrifices behind it on top of bringing life into a cruel world. The people who dont have no problems and the world becomes full of broken people that perpetuate the cycle for ever. Swear the people that shouldnt have kids will have 5-10 and cant even take care of one let alone themselves.

When animals like these people that’s at fault are released they sometimes have an easy pass to commit crimes that can easily be prevented by not being released ever. She should never be allowed to ever see the light of day outside of anybodys prison. Just so sad that she has a right to maybe continuing to hurt another person(s). I adopted my youngest son at 27 months old. His biologicals traded him for drugs. We went through so much raising him but we loved him and made sure he had any and all medical and emotional help he needed. When he turned 21, was not mentally 21 he left and mived ro Colorado where he decided to stop taking his Bi-polar and schizophrenic medication and last we knew was living on the streets in Colorado and self medicating. He will be 36 in August and has been place on the National Missing Person for almost a year. Which was hard to do being an adult, but i dinally spoke to someone that felt my pain.
As i said anyone that does something to a child is EVIL and prison is too goo for them

I am the mother of a daughter. I am single. I am poor. I have worked 3 jobs at a time before to make ends meet and put food in my little girls mouth. I have almost been homeless but I would always somehow make it through. Not once did I ever think about giving my childs innocence to pay for something for us. Like it was never even on my radar. This is absolutely disgusting that people can do this to the most innocent people in our world.

Your daughter hit the jackpot by having you as her mom. By working as hard as you do in order to provide for your daughter, you are also setting a great example for your child as well.
When your daughter is an adult, she will definitely look back and appreciate your sacrifices and hard work that you put in so that she could have a safe and happy childhood. A lot of children are just too young to understand things like that, but as she gets older, she will understand how lucky she was to have someone like you as her parent.

This story has stayed with me since I first heard of it years ago. She had such a beautiful, radiant smile. The photos of her that were taken when she lived with her father, before she was allowed to stay with that demon disguised as a “mother,” indicate that for the first five years of her life she was living a happy, normal childhood. A lot of them remind me of my own childhood photos. Her preschool graduation photo, where she’s looking so happy and proud, all dressed up in a little graduation cap and gown and holding her diploma in her little hand. There’s a photo of me just like that. But I got to take another photo like that when I graduated high school, then college. For Shaniya, that was the only and last time she got to graduate. The picture of her posing in her white dress, looking like a little angel breaks my heart, just knowing what that angel endured. So innocent, so unaware of the horrors of this world, or that she would ever be subjected to them. I can’t stand looking at those hotel security pictures where that sick sub-human is carrying her in his arms. She must have been so terrified, just woken up in the middle of the night and handed over to some man she’d never met and taken to an unfamiliar place where unspeakable things were done to her. No way of protecting herself, no way of escaping. It makes my blood boil, how that baby suffered and died and was dumped on the side of the road like a bag of trash. She had a whole life ahead of her. In some alternate universe where her father never trusted that evil bitch with precious Shaniya, she would be 19 today. Maybe she’d be in college, working towards the career of her dreams. She could have, and should have lived a whole life. Rest in Peace, Shaniya 💖

As someone who was sexually trafficked by their mother, I can tell you how horrid, painful, and terrifying what Shaniya went through was. I was able to survive despite all the horrible odds that were dealt at me, and I honestly should not be alive. I was lucky, Shaniya was not. And my heart aches for her

It doesn't exist, but you could absolutely write a letter to the Governor of her state, and the prison board; when the record get case, if they see a bunch of letters demanding her continued incarceration (gotta love the court of public opinion! Seriously, in this case) if they get flooded with letters saying to keep her locked up they would at least have to consider it.

It gives me the same vibe as recent events in Middlesboro Kentucky where momMonster sold her 17-months old to get drugs with the same result. The case of baby Elena gave me chills and I was crying for days. It is sickening that there are mothers who sell their children like its nothing, some of them even fighting the custody just to abuse them later.
Bradley Lockhart seems like an amazing man because he's had to cope with the loss of two of his children in the most horrific ways and he still doesn't have hatred in his heart. His faith is really strong and is clearly helping him to cope. I'm not religious but when I see something like this and how he is, it does make me respect people who are.

This is why hotel staff around the world need training on trafficking. Her identification should have been provided and checked against the adult with her before being allowed anywhere.
I totally agree with you, There should Photo identification and if not with a named Parent a letter giving permission with the photo of whoever the carer is attached. I have not got the same surname as my Grandson's, to take them on holiday, my Daughter has to write a permission letter with all my details on, so i can take them through passport control, this should be law even if you stay in your own Country in hotels.
I recently stayed at a comport inn in n.j. and on the back door of the hotel room there was a whole thing about trafficking and who to call if you see something suspect.. I was surprised to see that but its definitely needed what a world...this poor baby

NC general statute doesn't require that any minor under the age of 15 to have a state issued ID. Identicards from the school were five dollars in the 90s and mom most likely didn't have the money nor felt it was necessary. Odd though that this video didn't show the Walmart security footage of both the mom, Shaniya, and Mono, walking into the store together and later on, only him with the child leaving, That video footage was broadcast all over news networks in NC after she disappeared. I don't live far from Fayetteville. Sleepy Hollow trailer park has a nasty reputation for drugs and murders according to a friend of mine who was a parole officer in the city.

I understand he wanted the mother to be a mother.. but I believe had he been checking back in.. her finance situation would have been obvious, and at that time, I would have told her you can be a mother for a few hours on the weekend , but my babies coming home with me.
