Oh he knew. A control freak like that wouldn't stand for extra crying kids without looking for where the cries would be coming from. His wilful ignorance is hilariously ridiculous and quite criminal. But he got into more trouble for a single weed plant than the deaths of several of his own kids so that reveals where the justice system stood on drugs versus abused and dead kids. It's surprising that DFACS quickly intervened in this case and weren't partially responsible for contributing to an abused kid's death (unlike in too many other abused kids' cases where DFACS callously refused to intervene and that inaction led to the kids' brutal deaths). I'm grateful that the surviving kids are doing well in their current living situations. Hopefully they'll receive adequate mental health services as they grow up to help them cope with their past trauma.

I feel like more investigation should've been done into Ramone. I get that the grooming and abuse made Erica a bit mental, but what was his excuse? He was sleeping with her regularly but didn't notice the pregnancies, hear the births, or question the conditions of the permanently "baby sat" children? He didn't question the house, the dead dogs, the neglected animals, Erica's detachment from reality, etc? There's no real way he didn't know what was going on. Erica told those lies, BUT we know she wasn't good at it, and her disassociation made her inconsistent and unable to see problems, so any adult going into that home would know something was wrong. There's no way he was oblivious to things, given he lived in a shit tip. Did he not question his own dogs dying/ going missing? Why did he keep getting more dogs they couldn't look after, and then leave them to Erica? There's so many questions

This reminds me so much of one of my former students. A little boy that was born to an extremely neglectful heroine addict. He came to me at 3 years old. He had spent basically all of his life in a crib. All of his teeth were capped because of only being given a bottles that were often left in the crib with him for weeks. He couldn’t walk, talk or even crawl. He was so cute. After two years, he made significant progress but he would call me momma. I could go on and on about the stories of my students, Children with special needs are so often subjected to abuse. Thank y’all for giving a voice to the most vulnerable! ❤🙏

@@Tumbledweeb awe thank you. Honestly it was my pleasure. I wish I could have taken him in. I was already going through a separation and had a son the same age. Unfortunately the foster parents weren’t that great either but they were leaps and bounds above his mom. Sadly that school year, I had 12 students with different special needs and I had to make 27 reports to CPS. I even had to threaten the police in one instance where a sweet 4 year old girl was being sexually abused by her older brother and horrifically neglected by her mother. The whole family was a tragedy. The mom was an addict and engaged in sex work. They were living in different motels. The older brother had been a previous student of mine and had been sexually abused and was now abusing the younger siblings. The mom pulled up to school with the newest baby, about 3 months old, in a laundry basket rather than a car seat. The 3 school aged children were so thin, dirty and infested with lice. The mom came in the school, leaving the baby in the car in the laundry basket with no bra and no shoes scratching her head constantly saying she didn’t know anything about the lice. The next day all 3 kids including the little girl had their heads shaved in a rough manner. 😞 but when the little girl who was my student told me about the sexual abuse, I refused to send her home until CPS came. I was already sending her home with food and clean clothes for all 4 of the children. They told me that if I didn’t send her home that I could be arrested for kidnapping. I told them, well at least then the police will come but I am not sending her home!!!! They eventually showed up around 5pm.
I once I had a student with severe autism and significant behavioral issues. He was nonverbal and this acted out in desperation to communicate. However his mother was 14 and his grandmother was about 32 and his great grandmother was about 48. They were all addicted to crack and he was born with it in his system. He cried a lot. And they would chain him to a tree in the backyard like a dog.
Child abuse is so horrible. I have a huge heart but I think if you hurt or kill a child the same should be done to you! It should not be tolerated!
Sorry for rambling. Thank you for comment. Sweet Dylan and his big beautiful blue eyes smiling at me with his silver teeth. He will remain in my heart forever!

@@tiffanysadlertlc Okay, this is going to sound a bit weird so, full disclosure before I begin: I'm an Autistic woman with severe ADHD. Your first comment about the 3 year old sweetie made me want to share it with you because of the sentiment.
There is a video game titled "Detroit Become Human" where one of the characters you play as, Kara, is a housekeeping android. She is purchased by a man for the purpose of housekeeping and caring for his 8 year old daughter Alice.
You discover early on that the guy's wife had left him a while back, and in the aftermath he has become an alcoholic and a drug addict, and doesn't give a shit about his daughter any more.
One evening, having gotten high off of Red Ice, he flies into a fit of rage and starts verbally and physically abusing Alice, causing her to flee upstairs. He grabs his belt and follows her upstairs, but before doing so, he initiates a "Freeze" command on Kara, which has her stuck in place, preventing her from following him.
The mental distress Kara experiences triggers her AI into developing sentience and self-awareness, disabling the freeze effect. She rushes upstairs, grabs Alice and flees the house.

    • @Tumbledweeb
      @Tumbledweeb ปีที่แล้ว +19

Following the escape, Kara discovers that she is not the only android to have triggered sentience, and learning of a safe haven for self-aware androids up in Canada. The story that follows is of Kara and Alice's journey up north, protecting and caring for her along the way.
Having almost made it to the safe haven, a plot twist happens where it is revealed that Alice is also an android, something that Kara does NOT deal well with at all. Which finally brings us to the sentiment:
The intervention by another android, Luther:
"You knew from the beginning. You just didn't want to see it. She wanted a mom, and you wanted someone to care for. You needed each other. What difference does it make? Do you love her any less now that you know she's one of us? Alice loves you Kara. She loves you more than anything in the world. She became the little girl you wanted! And you became the mother she needed. Forgetting who you are, to become what someone needs you to be... Maybe that's what it means to be alive."
It's that last bit there that always stuck with me: "Forgetting who you are, to become what someone needs you to be... Maybe that's what it means to be alive."
That was the bit I wanted to share with you. Sorry for typing up half a novel, but context is key and all.

I meant that they had to know on some level what was going on. Kids are trusting, yes, but they are extremely observant by nature, as they learn by watching others in their close environment. @TheKim369 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@bossyspaghetti Well you're sure full of confidence, but it's only a useful trait if you're correct, which you aren't. I'm a parent and I don't know what you mean. I'm also a grandparent and I've worked with kids in a therapeutic environment for 18 years.
Some kids are more observant than others, but most of the time most kids are so busy dealing with what's on their own plates that they don't "see and hear everything". And today, we can add video screens right in front of many of their sets of eyes. In fact 2 days ago I bandaged up an early teen who was looking at her phone and walked right into a plate of food being eaten by a rotweiller.
I wonder what age of kids your blanket statement refers to? A 16 year old with a new crush, or a toddler who can't find a favorite toy? They aren't even interested in seeing or hearing everything.
You would enhance your credibility if you eliminated those global statements, especially in reference to people. You don't have a clue what "every" parent knows or what all children see. That confidence is misplaced and doesn't make you seem like a wise authority, it does, however, lead me to believe you probably are, on some level, condescending and likely quite bossy. 🤣😂

Children do see a lot, yes, but that doesn't mean they understand it. They said the son avoided home so he probably didn't feel comfortable there but, conditioning is powerful, he may not have even known why. There was no suggestion that he gave his friend's parents other reasons to be concerned. Plus, the way they described the discovery gave me the impression that he thought enough of the situation to make his friend aware but didn't comprehend enough to know what a big deal it was. It came across as probably somewhat casual... Just hanging out skateboarding one day and suddenly the unprecedented happens, shocking the friend and probably the son as well.
You are right in the sense that when things are understood, in real time or in hindsight (even if things are never truly understood), it stays with a person forever. I don't know how any of the children are doing now - foster care isn't exactly known for providing a stellar upbringing and the paternal grandparents raised the father (yikes) - but I hope they're all safe and finding their way.

I dont want to arm chair diagnose, but she honestly sounds autistic. A lot of autistic people can fly under the radar because of heavy masking, but they struggle to make it outside of their familiar family structure. Autistic teens and adults are also more likely to be taken advantage of and abused. It sounds to me like she had a LOT of social difficulties and that she was most likely born with them. The psychiatrist even said that she had poor working memory as well as a few other symptoms of a neurodevelopmental condition. And since her child has also been diagnosed with autism it would make sense since its genetic. You would be appalled at just how many children die at the hands of neurologically and mentally inccable parents just because those parents didn't get diagnosed and supported when they should have.
Someone should have stepped in or seen the symptoms in the mother during early childhood, but thats unfortunately not the way the world works. The sad reality is we keep bringing people into this world, not supporting them correctly and then letting them have kids who go on to repeat that cycle.

The spectrum is very, very large however, I have seen how someone with the slightest touch of autism behaves, and I truly do not believe that this woman has autism. She may have some type of personality disorder, or some type of mental issues going on but what ever it is that she suffers from I will not for one minute sit here and accept the theory, and agree that whatever is wrong with her is the cause of what she did to all of those babies that she had, the ones that she killed, and the ones she had that she just neglected for years is the reason for that. There’s nothing wrong with that woman besides, the fact that she is selfish lazy, and one of the biggest poorest excuses for a mother you are not going to convince me that throughout this woman’s whole entire life, she had some type of touch of autism, or some other type of mental disability and or learning disability, and that is what caused her to do what she did to those babies. I can't stand people who don't treat their children right.

So was I. My mom was incredibly sick and disabled I became her caregiver at 11 when my dad took off. Than my adult sister left her two babies. My mom wasn’t in away place to take care of them, she was wheelchair bound and spent most days in bed or would be in hospital for weeks at a time.
I did my best to take care of everyone but being just a kid myself everything become overwhelming extremely fast. But even at the young age I knew to keep the house clean and give my baby nieces a bath every other day. It definitely messed me up having ti be a caretaker at such a young age, but lucky as I got older and my nieces things goy easier, my moms health also got better and once she was approved for disability and food stamps it helped. I was able to get into a training program so I could be a peer support counselor and I help other people in situations like I was in.
I’m 32 now my oldest niece is in college and my youngest is about to graduate high school with a full ride into collage. I got married 3 years ago and had a baby that just turned 1, I had enough savings and my husband works from home so I could take time off so I can be here for our baby during the first years. I would do anything and everything for my baby. I remember a couple months ago at the park my baby tripped and I didn’t catch her in time and she skinned her knee, I felt horrible and I just held her comforting her and feeling so guilty I didn’t catch she In time. That was an accident and I felt guilty. But parents that hurt their babies on purpose or let them suffer? I will need understand that. Even when I was 11 and knew very little I was a better caretaker than these monsters ever did. I went to a library and looked into books for childcare and want to expect for a baby. How are some people so fucked in the head they can’t do better than an 11 year old child and a wheelchair bound chronically Ill adult?

a man like him probably would not allow her to be on birth control. Im sure he knew she kept getting knocked up and he loved it because it kept her miserable, cowed, and busy. Ejaculating in her without protection was a means to dominate and control her and Im sure he loved the idea of forcing her to bear his children in "secret" repeatedly- as it was pure torture for his victim. I say this because abusers really love being cruel to the people they abuse, as they gradually dehumanize them & villianize their victims in order to justify their abuse as "righteous" (which is why their abuse *always* escalates and gets more heinous over time). I think that if she asked for birth control he would have kicked her ass or worse. .

Absolutely right and I wrote that thing. Babies cry, especially as instants every two hours to be fed baby formula.
They were absolutely 1000% neglected but they weren’t emaciated. Which meant that she was feeding them formula! So what the hell did the husband think that she was going upstairs to do when she was doing that.
How did he not hear the babbling of a toddler and the cries of an infant. Bullshit.
Don’t tell me he didn’t know. But obviously later on we find out that he knew because he was found guilty of murder. But again.
There were other children in the house and upstairs like come on. Give me a break.
Also with her having the babies on her bathroom floor meant that the umbilical cord Also came out which she must have cut herself, and the placenta and the after birth.

For various reasons, the unborn child is regarded as a threat to the existence of the family. The paternal and maternal instincts do not develop because the child is viewed as a thing-"it"-that must be disposed of as soon as possible. This detachment is an evolutionary phenomenon. If there are insufficient resources, animals will kill some of their offspring. If there was not enough food in the winter, mediaeval peasants would expose their infants to the elements. The problem is that the goal of human civilization is to defy animal instincts. That's why we have abortion before fetus can feel pain.

My cousin was adopted into our family from a situation that caused him to be born with FAS, ASD, ADHD, and ODD. His birth parents would leave him for the first year of his life with his 3 year old sister, who would watch him and fed them both from the garbage. His head was also flat from his sister being too young and too little to pick him up out of the crib. They're doing decently well as young adults, but the trauma doesn't go away.

I will never understand how people can do this to children and animals. The silent, voiceless victims for the most part. I’m so grateful that the 2 little girls were saved. The animals barely saved and some of the other animals and babies stuffed in boxes deceased. I would do anything to have my doggo back and this…person just throws life away. The so-called father should have been charged with partner abuse too....... he groomed her then continued to diminish her self value until she believed she had nowhere to turn for help. Unless you understand what that type of abuse feels like, it's hard to have sympathy in situations like this. Normal people don't do this, which is why I say her condition wasn't even close to the norm.
It's so obvious to me that she was not emotionally mature enough & his actions towards her made it all worse. Even her own family failed her. This entire situation is a sad but more common than it should be.
So many want to grab a pitchfork against the mother, but fail to have the insight needed to understand the levels of abuse she suffered played a significant role, which triggered her subsequent behaviors. She needed severe mental health intervention (which is what that Judge realized). No amount of jail time would truly "help" her.
If you EVER have a neighbor or friend who suddenly vanishes from outside life, or starts any behaviors out of the norm, look into it/get authorities involved. You could very well be wrong, but it's better to be the one to stand-up for another than to pretend as if someone else will help......don't fall to the bystander effect.

@@violette80That's precisely her point! Ramone ruled by fist and coercion. In the video it was stated that one of the older kids flinched when anyone near them moved. That's horrific and it proves that someone was striking them. I don't doubt that it was Ramone and I absolutely believe that he beat Erica. Extreme abuse turns the victim robotic. What kind of male human demands that there be no further pregnancies, and then continues copulation, yet fails to get a vasectomy or drive his partner to the health department to acquire a form of birth control?? In consideration of Erica receiving post natal health care to address post partum depression/psychosis, it's actually irrelevant WHERE the infants were birthed, or even if they HAD to be kept a secret, because of Ramone's wrath. The point being made is that due to the oppressive and violent atmosphere in the house, it was impossible for Erica to receive the care she so sorely needed. If she HAD been allowed to leave the house, she could have taken a bus to Planned Parenthood (if theirs wasn't shut down) or the local health department, acquired some form of birth control, and there would be no dead babies. There might still be squalor and the only crime would be the pitiful dead dogs.

Post natal care is not lacking in our country. There are so many non profits, government programs, and religious groups that will help if you take the time to walk in and ask. If she was so mentally ill and incapable how did she know to create a fake Facebook account to hide her actions. I'm not buying it

Cases like this is a perfect example of stuff that would become common if women didn’t have access to abortions

I can't believe that both girls had not died from failure to thrive from such neglect. 😢

Medically, I think by jelly fish they are speaking of the stage of decomp called Black Putrefaction. The body becomes flat and the outside becomes creamy, wet, or slimy looking. If you've seen a jellyfish out of water, this is what they look like. Not to mention, these were young and most likely pale bodies so the skin, I would imagine, would be translucent. Just puttin' that out there as an explanation.

I think the saddest part is that an abuse victim was pushed to the point of not being able to take care of herself, let alone her children and pets.
