Surprised nobody mentioned the fact that MTJ and his brother Ryan both won at the track this year. It was also Ryan's first career win in NASCAR. Both first wins at the track: MTJ's first win in Cup and Ryan's first win ever. That's pretty cool.
I grew up about a hour away from there. The company my dad worked for done the concrete work when they switched it. My dad smoked a J in victory lane when they finished the job lol
Homestead, 2017: the pit crews lining up on pit road to thank Dale Jr. and Matt Kenseth for their careers. They both drove throwbacks to their shared rookie year. It also mirrored when Dale Sr. won his only Daytona 500.
Greatest Dover moment of all time, easy. 2014 September race, it was my 16th birthday, and as a surprise my dad drove us down to Dover (from Long Island) for the day. Jeff was my favorite driver, it was incredible. Dover will always be fav track
You forgot about Donnie Neuenberger flip that he had at Dover in 2005. For Homestead Miami I had Jeff Gordon's final race, Tony Stewart's Final start, and Brian Scott's final start.
I love Dover so much. This track definitely needs a 2nd date again. My memorable moment is kind of an odd one. It’s the 2003 race on the newly configured track. Bill Elliott leading and getting a flat tire on the last lap and Bobby labonte going around him for the win. This one sticks out to me for some reason.
For Dover: The Kenseth debut in '98 where he finished 6th in Bill Elliott's car, Jeff Burton's crash in '94 (last race with the asphalt surface) Logano's flip in '09, Roush 1-2-3 in '08, and as mentioned, Jimmie's save in '06.
I live in Dover, grew up around this track. It's sad to see the attendance dropping so much. My very first cup series race I went to was in 2007 when Martin Truex Jr won.
Jimmie Johnson wasn't the only one with an incredible save too, Dave Blaney had a beautiful qualifying save as well in 2012. He touched the wall, but both the car and wall were spotless.
That was the original monster mascot for the Speedway. I remember being about 5 in the late 80's riding past the grandstands in turn 1 and seeing a HUGE Monster Mile billboard with this mascot on it. I don't know that he ever had an official name like Miles the Monster does.
Dover really awesome, I went in 2021 after not going to a nascar race in over 10 years, and I got to watching my favorite team. I grew up watching finish 1 2 3 4
I'm a little partial to Homestead, in '09 the race happened to fall on my birthday, so being there in person to see the season finale will be a moment I'll never forget. Also, the unforgettable championship battle in '11 between Smoke and Carl Edwards, best race since the 1992 Hooters 500 at Atlanta.
Started going to dover in the mid 70s. My dad worked for RJR and we got free tix usually for the June race. Stands were only on the front stretch back then. Was running through the pouring rain and thunder in 1983 when some unfortunate folks were struck and killed by lightning. I believe there were a few 1st time busch series winners too...Johnny Benson and Mike mcglaughlin come to mind. Kyle's win in 1995 sticks out because andretti took out more than half the field on the first lap. I was in the infield for Schraders win...first and only time ...before the overpass...once you got in, you were stuck there until well after the race ended. Good ttimes.i miss the asphalt though...as well as the 2nd date and the final 100 miles nascar took away. Driving down rt 13 from wilmington...seeing " welcome race fans" signs as far north as Smyrna...feel like a kid again just thinking about it.
11:37 from Homestead Miami Speedway is memorable moments in my opinion are: 2011 cup series championship battle between Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards. Jimmie Johnson winning his 7th nascar cup series champoinship in 2016.
The 2011 season finale is a requirement for the homestead video memorable moments. That, alongside the kurt busch wheel mishap are the biggest two for me
Homestead Miami Memerable Moments: 2020??? - Tyler Reddick thinks it the cool down lap when its not 2017 - Dale Jr's last race 2016 - Jimmie getting his 7th Championship 2015 - Kyle bush winning his first Championship after breaking his legs early that year along with Jeff Gordons last *Full Time start 2011 - Stewart Vs Edwards 2004 - Kurt Bush tire fall off and still wins the championship
For Homestead there's several moments for me, in the Cup Series alone 2001 when Bill Elliott broke his long winless streak and gave Ray Everham his first win as a owner, and the only time that both Casey Atwood and Bill Elliott ended up in the top 5, the 2003 race when Bill had a flat on the last lap and ultimately Bobby Labonte won his last race plus the last in the Winston Cup era and the first Cup race after they added banking. Roush's 1,2,3,4 finish in 2005, Kurt Busch's comback in 2004 from nearly losing the championship, 2011 the battle with Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards, Jimmie winning all 7 of his champships at the track including 5 in a row, Kyle Busch's first championship in 2015 given his injuries and how much he had to do to get him to that point, 2003 in the Truck Series with their championship showdown, and so on. Currently in the Cup Series to my knowledge no first time winner though William Byron was the closest by getting his 2nd career win. Tony Stewart being a rookie getting his 3rd career win in the first Cup Series race as well. Thats a lot and I do admit but it just shows especially in Cup how much memorable moments the track had.
I can echo what you said about cherish your guys wins. When Dale Sr won the fall Talladega race we didn’t know what would happen the following February. I grew up a Dale fan.
Just a thought, but maybe put up a graphic that shows all winners at a track and when they won. In addition to the list of first time and last time winners. Keep up the GREAT videos!
@DoglegMediaMatt I'll have to take a look for them...I have them somewhere. I remember the size of the grandstands getting bigger and bigger every year
As someone who was there that 2017 race, and it was also hurt, since Kyle dropped a Driveshaft, so yea it wasn't Great, but Dover is a great track and a Fun Experience
Memorable moments at homestead 1. Kyle Busch wins championship after missing the first 11 races 2. Dale jr final cup race 3. Jimmie Johnson wins 7th championship
Homestead: Jimmie Johnsons record-tying 7th championship, Joey Logano winning the damn war over Martin Truex Jr in 2018, Kyle Busch capping off a remarkable comeback in 2015 with a championship win
My honorable mention for homestead-miami Speedway is kind of a sad one. We all know Joe Nemechek story, when he lost his brother John in a truck racing crash in March while Joe was competing in Las Vegas. His family encouraged him to continue racing, and throughout the early 2000s, Nemechek would remain a consistent if somewhat unspectacular driver in the cup series. Now his son John Hunter looks to follow in his Father's Footsteps by claiming the Xfinity series title this year and then compete full-time in the cup series next year.
Two honorable mentions for Homestead Jimmie Johnson's Homestead win in 2016 and Greg Biffle, and Mark Martin's Roush won to finish in 200 50 and bonus mention Daniel Suarez becoming the first international champion at NASCAR in 2016😊
Memorable moments for homestead: 2017: All the Pit crews come out to congratulate Dale Jr and Kenseth on their final starts of their retirement seasons + MTJ winning the championship that same night in emotional fashion for small Funiture Row Racing. 1997: A forgotten moment, Joe Nemechek wins the Busch Series race late in the year at Homestead after his brother John died at the track earlier that year in a Truck Series crash, a win that healed a lot of wounds for the Nemechek family. 2016: Carl Edwards losing the championship due to a bad Block leading to his retirement + Jimmie Johnson becoming one of three seven-time Champions that night. 2011: Tony Stewarts tiebraker chamipnship over Edwards (poor Carl) 2003: Kenseth finishing dead last in the season finale but still winning the title 2004: Kurt Busch wins the championship in the first ever chase for the cup 2015: Kyle Busch winning the title after missing like half the year And one more 😂 2019: Matt Crafton winning the Truck title with the playoffs format even though he didn't win any races throughout the season Many more moments i could include like the 2013 Nationwide series points battle between hornish and dillon or the 2003 Busch Series turbulent season finale between 6 drivers and the 2003 Truck series Finale fiasco That's all for me, keep up the good work, love from Germany 🇩🇪
As someone who lives literally 10-15 minutes away from the track it makes me sad that we have only 1 date a year now. Attendance has been on the rise since fans were allowed back in 2021 I hope some day we can get our second date back
@DoglegMediaMatt for memorable moments, I suggest Kyle Busch 2015 and 2019 championships. When he won in 2015, it was one of the biggest comebacks in Nascar history
Homestead 2018: Incredible final lap! Logano outright stole the Cup with a power move to the outside! Or Honestead 2016: Heartbreak for my favorite driver Carl Edwards what if he actually survived the wreckfest and was instead the 2016 Champ?
Homestead…has to be the 2011 race…first and foremost my guy Smoke’s run to the title that day where he passed about 87 cars…and that being the de facto end of Kurt Busch at Penske
I've got a track suggestion for you why not do the greatest Road course in NASCAR history Riverside International Raceway it open in 1956 and was forced to closed in 1989 the last Winston Cup race was June of 1988 Ricky Rudd set a new track record in the Quaker State Buick and Rusty Wallace won the race in the Kodiak Pontiac
I gave Matt that suggestion, the track actually opened in 1957 and was closed to become the Moreno Valley Mall at Towngate (the population boom and NIMBY's were the ones that killed the raceway)
Surprised nobody mentioned the fact that MTJ and his brother Ryan both won at the track this year. It was also Ryan's first career win in NASCAR. Both first wins at the track: MTJ's first win in Cup and Ryan's first win ever. That's pretty cool.
Nobody said this, but man that’s a great point! Thanks for the addition
I grew up about a hour away from there. The company my dad worked for done the concrete work when they switched it. My dad smoked a J in victory lane when they finished the job lol

An instant classic, poor Carl 😭
Jimmie Johnson wasn't the only one with an incredible save too, Dave Blaney had a beautiful qualifying save as well in 2012. He touched the wall, but both the car and wall were spotless.

Memorable moment: Carl Edwards Tony Stuart 2011 championship tie.
2016 Carl crash and Jimmay last championship
Both insane moments! Not great for Carl either time tho 😅
When Homestead comes I should say
I know it’s Xfinity, but the 2019 Championship race with Reddick Bell and Custer was insane.
Great mention! Love it!
I was there for both Johnson’s last win and the Hendrick sweep, grateful to have witnessed some excellent racing!
Man, I would give a lot to be able to have been there for Johnson’s last win!

Jimmie Johnson winning his 7th title
It has to be there! I’ve had 7 unbelievable moments at Homestead as a fan!
Yes
11:37 from Homestead Miami Speedway is memorable moments in my opinion are:
2011 cup series championship battle between Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards.
Jimmie Johnson winning his 7th nascar cup series champoinship in 2016.
Great mentions! Love it thanks for watching and contributing!

I think they both will make it! Great mentions!
Homestead Miami Memerable Moments: 2020??? - Tyler Reddick thinks it the cool down lap when its not
2017 - Dale Jr's last race
2016 - Jimmie getting his 7th Championship
2015 - Kyle bush winning his first Championship after breaking his legs early that year along with Jeff Gordons last *Full Time start
2011 - Stewart Vs Edwards
2004 - Kurt Bush tire fall off and still wins the championship
That Tyler Reddick moment is incredible 😂
It truly was, sure you can be famous but in the end where all human and we all make mistakes

Miles the Monster! still have a stuffed Miles the monster doll i won from MRN friday night sometime in the 90s.

This was my first nascar track I went to. Saw it asphalt and then concrete. I have so many old school photos from there
That’s incredible! If you have discord we would love to see those photos!

Memorable moments at homestead
1. Kyle Busch wins championship after missing the first 11 races
