  • NASCAR is a team sport much like many of professional sporting leagues around the world. Some of their teams have been around for over half a century, while others just entered the garage in the last few years.
This is NASCAR Team History. Much like many of our other videos, we look to do a deep dive into the history of NASCAR. In this series, we focus on the teams that field your favorite drivers.
Today we look at the biggest what-if team in NASCAR History, Dale Earnhardt Incoporated.
I appreciate all your support, thanks so much!

Safe to say, if it wasn't for Theresa's stubborness, I'm very sure DEI would've won at least one Championship

I'm not a big race fan, so I could be way off with my Opinion. I think it's easy to be on the outside and say those things. However the devil is definitely in the details. We don't know business wise what Theresa had no idea about due to Dale taking car of it. Also from what I understand Dale was her life. So unless you have a race team with your spouse, then have your spouse tragically die during a race... You can't really say why Theresa was the way she was with race shop and racing that killed her husband. Ya know?

@@darrelladams4188 what? Jeff had his fourth in 2001. Maybe Dale surviving could have led to him getting an 8th. Maybe sniping the 2001 title. But if not Jeff was likely going to have 4 championships.
As for a DEI championship, without Dale maybe Jr wins it in 2004. Other than that I don't know. Even with Theresa not letting ego get in the way the DEI team itself would still be fractured. No one could agree on anything after Dale's passing. Dale Sr was the glue that held everything together.
With Dale I can see Jr winning in 2004 and maybe 2008. Stewart was on fire in 05, and Johnson in 06. 07 and 08 would be tricky to predict but I could see Truex winning in 07 maybe. Other than that I'm not sure. Maybe Dale can convince Mark Martin to go full time for DEI in 09 and he wins the championship that year instead of Jr. But i don't know if Jr ever gets more than two championships. And going past 09 gets extremely difficult to predict.

Wish it would be that simple but Theresa was just the scapegoat. Dale Jr had just equal fault here, he wasn’t all into being a race car driver he even screwed up the partnership and relationship with the Eurys even though he wasn’t in charge he was the driver and the Eurys were the ones he had the most success with. He was immature and being a driver he said he made mistakes in having say in what the team did. Meaning you can be a driver or an owner not both. Also where has RCR been? The DEI engines were a collaboration effort. DEI would be in the same tier as RCR all this time of it we’re here today. Never matching hendrick or even JGR. A main reason JR Motorsports has been a success is because of hendrick Motorsports. Have you guys noticed a drop of performance last year after hendrick withdrew its ownership stake in JR Motorsports?

Basically the death of Dale Earnhardt was the thing that hurt the team the most, I believe the teams run on top would've lasted a lot longer had he not been killed that fateful day.
Dale Jr was already making a name for himself in NASCAR thanks to his two Busch Championships and might've won DEI their first Cup Championship in the mid 2000s; Dale Jr would've basically been the star driver of the team much like his Father was for RCR or Jeff Gordon was for Hendrick Motorsports during that same time period.
