Hi Jo An, just had to share a library story with you. At 7 years old I loved walking to the library in our little town but spent only a little time inside with the books. At a certain time every day I would move outside to the front stoop to watch the silent order of nuns at the convent across the street. For hours I would watch them sweep and garden in full "flying nun" habits marveling that they never got dirty and never cheated even with a whisper. I was mesmerized!
Alex , When one buys a car that`s been sitting for a long time , first thing he does is make sure it has no old gas in it . If there is old gas in the tank , syphon all of it out . Replace w/ new and then disconnect fuel line from carburetor and put the open line into a jar or other clear container . Pull the coil / distributor wire so it won`t want to start and crank the engine over and let it pump gas into jar . Repeat process until gas coming out of line is fresh and clear . Then install your new filter , w/ fresh gas , put fuel line back on carburetor . This the way Not to plug up your carb w/ rotten gas and not have the old filter plug up with the same . I`ve even seen fuel pumps choked out w/ old gas . This process only takes a few minutes and sure beats being stuck on the other side of town in your new ride . Old gas will choke out your fuel system .
Hey Alex, if you and Melissa purchase your own vending/dispensing machines, you can keep them filled with whatever you choose, and your family would have another, forever source of income. Your genuine kindness to everyone you met, and positive attitude of everything you encounter in life, is very inspiring to witness. I love the old school house lights. I worked in a school house for 20 years that was built in 1921. It had the same lights. Parts also had tin ceilings. Loved that old building. I retired a couple of years ago.

Yes, thing are coming along w/the new shop. My car was T-Boned, a little over 2 mos, ago. Talk about not having a car. Plus, I have no means to GO any where, even to get food, etc.. No real help, either. Talk about a stressful situation. I live in a sml., rural area, on top of it all. Well just sharing. Do take care. Fl., U.S.A.
I was wondering how many of us were thinking the exact same thing. I think getting rid of the ambulance has gotten more negative comments than anything else Alex has done. To me the ambulance was like part of his family and offered plenty of free advertisement for his business.
He had years to get the bugs out of the ambulance. Give him time and this too shall be reliable. However, I would have dropped the tank and got it empty and clean to begin with. That fuel pump being out was a clue that might have indicated bad gas. Oh well, roll the dice and take your chances. Once the system is cleaned out all will be well.
it already has. the ambulance, that is. it ran out of gas while he was driving to the Potter's House. that's one reason he said he sold it: used up too much gas too quickly since it was made for short trips, not long hauls. he also needs a vehicle with more cubic footage for hauling larger items cuz one thing he bought wouldn't fit in the back of the ambulance. he talked about it on a live stream not too long ago

Having heat vents above is a baaaaad idea. Heat rises. I live in a house with heat vents in the ceiling and it's warm enough when you're standing, but you can't stand all the time. When you're seated, it's freezing and your feet are always cold. Bad idea.

I was thinking about your old ambulance and remembering in high school in Missouri one of the fellows a year or two older than me bought a 1948 Cadillac Hearse. It was really old to most of us at the time, that was in 1964 or 65. I always remember thinking one of my classmates who drove a 1954 Chevrolet Suburban, which was what they called the station wagon at the time had a really old car. I now drive a 2001 Ford Econoline van, it is funny when I realize the evolution during the late 40s, 50s and 60s and how someone driving a 1948 automobile at the time was thought to have a really old vehicle when in reality it was only 16 or 17 years old. He got rid of the car right after he graduated because it was a gas guzzler, I think it got 8 MPG. I know you sold yours, it may have slightly better on gas but in 1964 you could purchase a gallon of gas for between 20 and 25 cents per gallon..

My daughter has a hair salon, and she set up a coffee station using a nice Keuhrig with a basket of coffee pods and all the extras. No license needed.

I had a 2007 impala that had a hinky gas gage, I used the trip meter to gage when I needed to fill up.
I kinda feel like this was the kinda day where you needed us as much as we need you. Very glad you made it safely home in the end
