Hey, just so you know, you're not actually stuck in there! You can actually go through the wall on the inside of the castle, and just walk right back out. That way you don't have to reset, and you can perform the glitch without any kind of worries!
I just came here to say that. I can't say how many times I've done that glitch, and every single time I just jump above the doors inside the castle to get back in-bounds. No reset required!
You can actually escape this and pretty easily at that. When you're in the map with the castle's main hub (not outside), simply jump through the wall on either side of the door.
Since everyone else has already made a parallel universe joke I'm just gonna say that the same thing (going through doors the wrong way around) can be done in Luigi's Mansion 2, but since in that game there's not a loading zone beyond the door but an infinite floor you can expore out of bounds much further!
That's the only glitch that I ever managed to find by myself back then, it was so cool finding something that "nobody else knew". But you CAN leave this alternate dimension. Go through the door so you see the hall of the castle, then jump to the left of the door, there's a "hole" that will take you to the hall.
This also occurs if you happen to BLJ into the door at the right amount of speed from inside the castle, though BLJ does not work in the 3D All-Stars version which is based on the Shindou release (or if we want to be simple about it, the patched SM64 JP version). This will happen very commonly at the beginning of speed-runs for this game.

The REAL exit is going into the castle interior and leaving through the walls on the side of the doors. Has NOBODY thought to do this the first time or something?

0:49, wouldn't it be the other way round? The programming IS taking into account what side you're opening the door, and that's why you stay on the wrong side?
i dont understand this to this day. i have NEVER heard of a loading zone that is coded around how/what side you enter. you hit the loadingzone, it loads. you exit the loadingzone at the ONLY programmed spot. not based on what side you entered. its such a weird thing that ive never seen in any other game. but hey its unique and that makes it special. but andy, you could have done a failed LBLJ to achieve the same result hehe
Most glitches are already documented, he just makes neat videos about them. On the rare time it IS a new glitch in something, he usually makes reference to it being undocumented

I have done the BRoD glitch myself and managed to get out of it without having to reset my game.

I think I vaguely remember that I had this happen to me in SM64DS but I don’t remember how I got there in the first place.
