In this video, I show you how I made Mario 64 in 64 hours using the Unity engine! This was a really fun Unity challenge and I'm really happy with how it turned out. the rotating linear planar pngs/textures are still surprisingly widely used today, especially in games where there's no rotating camera

You can tell how much work nintendo puts into mario's physics. Literally every mario fangame I've ever played, the physics feel too slow, too fast, or just janky in general.

I know it's kinda cheating, but you could also just import LibSM64 to get Mario's physics exactly like the OG game. The challenge then is to get the library to understand unity's collision system so that Mario reliably walks into walls, lands on the floor, and can stomp..........KOOPAS....in your Unity fan-made game. (Yes that was a Mario movie reference)

It seems crazy Nintendo don't take advantage of Super Mario 64's popularity. SEGA would have hired the best fan modders like Kaze and just had them make a spin-off Super Mario 64 style game had SEGA hypothetically owned or created Mario.
Legitimately, there's a clear division between companies like SEGA who genuinely love and appreciate fan-work and Nintendo who basically acts the complete opposite
