The worst bit is that now that TH-cam has removed dislikes, badabun disabled comments so there is no way for regular viewers with no knowledge of the game to know that the run is faked.
I'm pretty sure they disabled dislikes on their side before youtube stripped the entire site of it

Another case of a social media platform enabling / contributing to misinformation for the sake of lining up their own pockets.
Badabun's video is a perfect example of why TH-cam shouldn't have removed dislikes: they help people understand and immediately when a video is garbage. Without dislikes, you need to watch it longer before you realize it and that counts as an undeserved view for the video.
That's the whole point. All youtube wants is the money from you watching ads, and clicking off a video quickly due to a high dislike counter is directly antithetical to that goal. The site was never focused on it's users, just the advertisers and big companies.
It's never coming back either.
There are so many project videos on TH-cam that would cause you to waste potentially hundreds of dollars working on it, just for it to be fake or a troll video. And not with a "lol gotchaaa" moment in the video. What a bizarre, insane niche to live in, intentionally fleecing folks.
Well that's the point. Most of youtube's own officially promoted content is garbage.

What is weird to is that Americans or English speakers don't even know that their culture and Internet content is only one of many, and people somewhere might not know it at all. And they're not missing out any more than they are. Unfortunately, Anglos are so self centred, many never realise that.
The fact that someone was able to recognize the stolen footage, but not notice the fake one was faked, and instead accuse the original runner as the copycat, baffles me.

In México, we hate Badabun's channel. Everything they do is copy & paste content, + weird dramas with their members. That speedrun video they "did" was viral and critized because of that. It is not a parody, Badabun actually thought they could fool all of us.

The way he reaches out for the pizza is iconic, like he doesn't even know how much time he has to take a "break" before having to continue fake button mashing. That is to say he doesn't even know the original game *at all* and is just watching what one of his editors threw together.

I think the whole thing was created as a vehicle for a Coke product placement. Whenever he takes a drink he's really careful to put it back so that the label is still facing the camera. My guess is that Coke's Mexican marketing wing offered them a bonus that scaled with how long their product was on screen for, so they concocted the fake speedrun as a way of getting it on screen for basically the whole video. You can imagine them brainstorming the video idea- "That Mario speedrun video with the heart rate monitor got a lot of views- what if we copied that, but rather than him getting stressed out he just sits there sipping coke and eating pizza? We could have the Coke logo on screen the whole time!"
"How do we get people to view our logo for as long as possible? By putting it in a SPEEDRUN, genius."
And of course it's on this video as well. So it was a smart marketing ploy.

Normally, it should be 80 BPM, with about 5-10 variance. The point though that the video makes is that this man is making it look like he has nerves of diamond to not have his heart rate increase beyond 95, esp when pressure plays a huge part in BPM changes in this scenario (ie, 130 for the WR run)

@@Latias38 To be fair, pro sporters have an average heartbeat of around 60 when in rest and some people are well trained into not being afraid of anything. Although we all know this guy faked it, it could actually be done in reality.

I’m a speedrunner in monster hunter. I don’t know about speedrunners in mario but all i can say is, that’s NOT the body languange of a runner. A speedrunner’s focused, has small or faint fidgeting in their arms,tense arms and most upper shoulders. This dude’s chillax as hell!

I love the internet. I have never beaten this game, I have memories as a very little kid watching my older cousin play it. I've watched a fair amount of speed runs but to see this level of detective work to not just say something is fake but to call out every specific nuanced reason as to why it is irrefutably a fraud. The Internet is just an amazing place and thank you very much for making such a high quality video.
There is a local restaurant that has video games in it. Every table has a NES with Mario at it. My best friend's brother's 24th birthday party, we all went there and that was the last time I played Mario
I'll never forget when i first watched this. Introduced me to one of my favorite youtubers. I'm not even much of a gamer, but I find this kind of information fascinating, and he has such an enthusiasm for it.

Like, you know, cigarettes? Key phrase here being "on a regular basis." A little bit isn't that big of a deal, and I do mean "a little bit." 1 soda a month (average) is a lot less than even 4 cups of water a day.
