Thanks. I have not thought of adding coconut oil. I will have to try it sometime. Do you use date paste in baked goods like bread and muffins in place of sugar?
@@CookingLessonsforDad Sadly, I don't really bake. I will/want to, but haven't yet. I would/will use it though in anything that sugar is normally used in. Also, you can add other healthy ingredients like a piece of raw aloe, cacao, hemp seeds, maca, etc. You are only limited by your own imagination. ♥️

My mom has been trying to start a plant based diet and I found a cookie recipe that works (normal recipe but replacing some ingredients). Though I can replace white sugar with erythritol or stevia, I wanted something better for a brown sugar replacement and remember someone suggested this, so I'll be trying out making date paste tonight to make tomorrow. Dates regularly taste really nice so I'm optimistic about it.
@@CookingLessonsforDad I made them yesterday and although they didn’t spread as much like the original recipe they were sooo soft and gooey and delicious. Substituted butter for plant butter, white sugar for Stevia or erithrytol, brown sugar for date paste (scale came in handy), and of course used 60% dark chocolate. Will definitely make again.
You can try replacing 1 cup of sugar with 1 cup date paste. You will likely have to reduce the liquid in your recipe. Try this and adjust the liquid and date paste in your recipe as needed. If you try it let me know how it turns out.
Do you mean the seeds or pits? I used seedless. If your dates have seeds you needs to remove them before starting this recipe. It is pretty easy to find pitted dates at the store.
Thank you so much for this video! Do you have any recommendations on how much date paste should be used to replace conventional sugar in recipes? And for how many days can you store the paste in the fridge? Thank you!
You have to experimental substituting date paste for sugar in recipes. I would start with a 1:1 substitution. For example 1 cup date paste in place of 1 cup sugar. After you try the recipe you may want to add more or less next time. I have kept date paste for quite a while in the fridge. I think more than a month. If you make something really great with date paste let me know!
I am always amazed how delicious my desserts taste when I substitute date paste for other unhealthy sweeteners. I love desserts so watch for some tasty desserts using date paste. What do you like to use date paste in?
Wow! this is awesome. Thank you so much...but I want to ask, did you blend the dates with their seeds? is it that easy to blend or you took off the seeds?...more so, please how long can a blended paste last? is it possible to have them dried and grinded? I know its a lot of questions. Really hope you can answer as much as you can.
Your welcome. I used dates that already had their seeds removed. You can buy dates without seeds and also date pieces without seeds. If you have dates with seeds, you will need to take out and discard the seeds before blending. Date paste will keep for over a week, covered and refrigerated. It can also be frozen for several months. It will not freeze solid which facilitates scooping out exact amounts. I do use date sugar in some recipes. You can purchase that at many grocery stores. Thanks for watching and I hope your date paste comes out perfect!
The dates already had the seeds removed. If you buy dates for this recipe make sure they have the seeds removed. Sorry I should have mentioned that. Hope your date paste is delicious!

Not related to Breyer’s Ice cream. Too bad. There is not a real window behind the sink but it is a picture of our pond in front of our house. I blew up the picture and my husband made the window frame to put it in.
You can make some dairy-free, egg-free, gluten-free chocolate "brownies" using sweet potato + date paste + vanilla + pure cocoa powder + nuts of choice basically. I once posted a recipe somewhere, but I think it was not in English :-( Just give it a try!
