Gotta say that I absolutely love that Shira scraped the bowls clean (except the dark chocolate!). Typically, people don't do that and it irks me deeply because of the waste.
Jarvis good observation noble thought... Yes people wasting food left right n center (sometimes tossing edible food into garbage on camera just to demonstrate just irritates me too)
These do look positively delicious !!! Hint: You could draw an 8" square on the OTHER side of the parchment then just fit your mixture to that.. save measuring and re-measuring .. : ]
I just made this and it is absolutely delicious. Does not need any other thing in it. It is absolutely perfect as is. My family loved it. Thank you so much
Definitely wanted to go for healthy but turns out this recipe is not only super easy and healthy, it is also totally scrumptuous! The taste is amazing, our new family's favourite!
if anybody is going to make this, these are absolutely delicious,if you dont like dates or walnuts, the flavors disappear trust me! if anybody hates walnuts and dates, thats me and I did not even know the flavors would disappear! these bars taste like a cheese cake except with chocolate and with none of that cream cheese taste but anyways, these are so so good, the crust is nice and crispy and moist, where as the chocolate makes it creamy and oh I cant even explain but these are so amazing
I bought these kind of bars a couple of times and decided to ever do that again... But after these recipes I can eat them... They are homemade natural cheap healthy ingredients 😊❤️ thank you so much
Thanks for your efforts to help those of us without the slightest idea how to create healthy sweets. This looks really scrumptious. And easy enough for someone like myself to do. Thanks again. Looking forward to more delicious recipes.
Perfect!! Making this tomorrow. If you know how to make chocolate you can use your own chocolate topping instead of melting a bought bar. Even more awesome. Thanks for this; love it 😍
I love how many vegan recipes are on this channel :) its promoting good ingredients while never skimping flavor. Thanks Shira! :) your preggo belly in this video is so cute
I made this a little easier. Made the date mixture as shown and just pressed the mixture into an 8x8 lined pan. after I pressed it into pan I melted my chocolate and poured it over the pressed in date mixture. Did not go thru the bother of stacking. Tastes the same. Covered with walnuts and after chilling I cut it into 1 inch squares. Eazzy Peazzy Japaneezy.
Oh wow, I think I can actually do this! As long as I can do it in the Vitamix and not in a food processor. They look so good, they don't use weird ingredients, and it looks like they really are easy (I hate it when they say it's easy but it isn't). And it's gluten free (so am I) and there's not too much processed sugar. I'm going to try it.
Great looking treat! Will definitely try it, I agree with Jarvis, scraping the bowl and food processor clean is a good cooking habit. Why feed the drain or dish washer, silicone spatulas are my favorite tools in the kitchen, hot or cold.
I currently have a health condition which makes food preparation difficult. Think I'm going to make the base, cut into thicker squares, break up up a dark choc bar into squares, and just place a one on top to save energy melting it, and dishes lol. It's only for me, it will be fine! Thanks for the recipe.
Hi this recipe looks so good Im adding a few recipes to a to-do list for iftar but it would be really helpful if you could note down the recipe in grams please as you know cups come in all different shapes and sizes and in the video your ingredients are sitting in a bowl. Thanks for the recipe again 😊
Thank you I tried this recipe it was great and considering the unhealthy ingredients that comes into a regular chocolate chip cookie from the stores this is great🙋🏽♀️💖
Don't have enough walnuts, so going to add then to sunflower seeds, using sunflower butter and the dates and see what happens....when at the store next definitely getting more walnuts
Into the chocolate filling I would add some heavy cream to compliment the chocolate for a rich filling. I would also add pecans in the recipe instead of walnuts for a rich nutty flavor.
I do wish weights had been given for everything as I'm not sure if mine were a bit of a bust because I didn't have the right proportion of dates? Also, I think chilling the chocolate in the first layer is a mistake as this then doesn't allow the second layer to bind to it and when I cut the bars the next morning after chilling them, the two layers came apart basically. They were still tasty, but it was more like "toss some crumble into my mouth instead of biting into a bar". :)
I calculated the nutritient values of the recipe (it was interesting to find a "1 cup walnut to grams" calculator...). I found that.. well, yes, this is healthy as there is no added sugar, but this is a pure calorie-bomb. In 100 grams of finished product there is: 457,72 kcal; 8,5 gr protein; 44,43 gr carbs; 30,8 gr fat. If you cut it into 11 pieces as the video shown, you'll have a ~61 gr portion, meaning it's 279,21 kcal; 5,18 gr protein; 27,1 gr carbs; 18,79 gr fat. If you want to eat ONE piece between breakfast and lunch to get a bit of energy until noon, it's completely fine, but I wouldn't recommend at all to eat more than one portion daily (with a higher dosing it won't be that healthy), except if you're an active physical worker, working out, or you're doing a long distance running/biking session (over 21.1km). But keep moderation considered in that case too. Thanks for the recipe, looks yummy by the way! :-)
it's dessert. real food has calories, and this is a delightful treat to have after dinner or as a slice for breakfast if you're in a hurry without ruining your blood sugar control or creating inflammation in your body. But REAL food will always have calories.
I’m wondering if in place of the walnuts (not my fav.) you could use 1/2 pecans and 1/2 rolled oats...? This would cut down on the fat. Would the oats be too hard if not cooked? They would pick up moisture from the dates. They’d be ok, right? I’ll have to try it.🌸 Looks like a great recipe! Thank you.
This is my first time enjoying your TH-cam channel. Great work! I’m looking forward to more great content from you. Thank you so much for this informative video! I got so much out of it.
You can add RAW cocoa butter and powder with a quarter cup of raisins(in the blend and not melt the store-bought choc) to make this raw and healthier, great recipe thank you very much.
I feel like it'd be so much more efficient if you just put everything in the small.loaf pan initially versus doing it individually. You don't get the layers but you get the time. But if it works it works!
Ok So you want to see the ingredients clumping around the center blade. What do you add if they aren't clumping? I made this once and tried adding more peanut butter which I believe made it taste too much like peanut butter. I also learned from no experience that dark chocolate bars do not melt in the microwave. You have to add moisture to it in order to get it to come out like chocolate syrup. Hers was coming out like syrup and mine had to be spread like some kind of paste.
The recipe link does not use dark chocolate. It uses semi-sweet but dark would be perfect. These look amazing and will try tomorrow since I have all ingredients on hand. The dates look like medjool? I find deglet dates a bit tough and dry but less expensive.
Hi . I have one question. After freezing and making these bars can we put it outside for 4 hours ?? Wouldn't the chocolate start melting? Kindly let me know please.
Not if your diabetes is very bad. Dates are very high in Sugar. If your diabetes is well controlled you could have a little. Instead of making bars you could make little balls of the mix & press an almond into each one, dip one end in melted dark chocolate, then just have one or two a day. That way you add more protein & fibre to balance the sugar. Half an hour after eating move around a bit, tidy up or dance, or walk for 20 mins, for better control of blood sugar.
👍Thank you. 💝 ☝️Note to self: Cut into tiny squares about the size of your thumbnail (two😉) and freeze them ASAP so you don’t eat them all in one day. ☺️

There's not a lot of room for error here. Perhaps your dates are too far on the dry side?
Refrigerate it more?
add a half to a full tablespoon of water or peanut butter. thanks for watching.
You're probably using dried dates. Look for some that are soft and plump. Medjool will work.
