If a Pokémon has just one or two unique tools at its disposal that nothing else has, there’s probably some way to take advantage of that on a competitive team
Wailord has the combination of Water Spout and Self-Destruct, making it a pretty nice aggressive opener on special offense teams and an effective lure for special walls
Even butterfree has some merit, due to its ability Compound Eyes; granting it a highly accurate sleep powder and stun spore. Nothing else in the game has an accurate sleep and paralysis move.
I really like this look at specific teams from specific players, especially how you give insight into what players are known for. It makes Gen 3 OU seem even more like a thriving meta game to have known players with certain styles

Been playing Gen 3 for about nearly a year now. I really enjoy the format. Keep up the cool videos. I've been using Poliwrath in OU and its been surprisingly consistant. A good counter to alot of the problematic water types and resisting rock type attacks is always good.
i definitely agree with banning accuracy dropping moves, there's an argument to be made that most of the time it isn't too impactful, but the issue is that it's pure luck and sometimes it can totally shut down your opponent. in a tournament game if you use a counter team and correctly predict a magneton or something that's fair enough but on the ladder if you get caught out by this bs, or a ninjask gets off sand attack and you keep missing to allow a sweep, it just sucks and you couldn't prevent it at all. it's uncompetitive and that's the whole point of bans
It's also a very valid concern when you consider that evasion buffs were banned for similar reason, the only reason accuracy drops normally get a pass is because they can be easily countered by switching out, much like confusion or attract, but that changes when people find a way to actually abuse said moves in an unfun way.
@@homerman76 yh that's the funny thing about accuracy dropping is that 99% of the time it's useless anyway, which means that nothing of value is lost by banning it so what's the point in even keeping it
I love Trace! Both Porygon 2 and Gardevoir are amazing with it. There's so many shenanigans you can pull with it both in Gen 3 and beyond. Tracing abilities that give immunities, tracing abilities that trap, tracing intimidate for a more free swap in, I'm sure there's even more examples of things you can pull but it's incredibly versatile in what you can do with it.

@@cristhianmontoya6648 Because it leads to degenerate strategies like this, it's the same reason for why evasion buffing moves are bad, sure there are some interesting strategies, but those strategies are also rather unfun when they go off. From SEA's perspective there were 2 unrevealed Pokemon in the back. Either of these 2 Pokemon could've had Ice Beam to stop a Salamence sweep, the Light Screen maximized the chance of Salamence successfully sweeping The final Pokemon was still unrevealed because the opponent forfeited, that could've easily been a Pokemon with Ice Beam that chose not to come in since it can't KO anymore
When you brought up the speeds stats and I saw ninjask, i have to ask if anyone has ever tried an adamant choice band ninjask? a crazy set for revenge killing and switching in on ground moves then baton passing out a speed boost
Great strategy for porigon 2. I had thought about it after seeing your Gardevoir team. It can also be implemented with rival Dugtrio. My question is: By having the same ability, can Porigon switch?
I used Electrode once in a Gen 1 match against my cousin's Amnesia boosted Mewtwo because I knew it was the only mon fast enough to get a Thunder Wave on that thing. Turn 1 para hax, should have seen his face when I set up Substitute and legit Thunderbolt'ed him with Electrode's miserable special stat until Mewtwo fainted. I had Explosion as my last move just in case I ran out of HP for Substitute, but got lucky enough to not even need it. Not exactly viable for tournaments or anything, but my cousin's face over my stupid Electrode running circles around his boosted Mewtwo that by all means should have swept my whole team was priceless.
Yes and no, trapping abilities are also pretty necessary as a counter for specific mons, like skarmory. In fact, it's not the trapping ability that's causing the problem here, it's another pokemon copying that ability to lock Magneton into place, turning it's own power against it.
