@@Megidramon though, knowing you’re so dedicated to your companion larvitar that, even in this perilous situation of its chronic illness, you choose to wake up every day and feed your little friend a leppa berry and fish up some magikarp and goldeen for it to fry, it kinda makes me misty-eyed over the thought of such devotion, even if it’s just a larvitar

Worth noting that in the next generation (Gen IV), once a Poisoned mon gets to 1 HP from poison damage, the poison will be automatically cured. Almost makes you wonder if that was at least in part to prevent situations like this where whiting out leaves you in an awkward place. (Gen V was when poison stopped draining HP outside of battle completely.)
To be fair he doesnt necessarily HAVE to actually spend that much time. for instance, he could use an emulatoran turn off Frame-limiting while waiting. This would result in the game's clock moving forward much faster than IRL, so instead of 16 real life hours between each berry, it could be reduced to maybe like 15 minutes, or even less depending on how fast your PC can run the emulator. It would still take a long-ass time to do everything he needs to do, but it wouldnt take 800 IRL hours.
I love that you could've made this actually impossible by leaving larvitar with a non damage move or just stranding yourself in the town or leaving larvitar on level 100 instead of 99 but you went with just torture instead
This sounds like a jigsaw trap. Hello, Steve. Before you is a copy of Pokemon. You have only one poisoned pokemon, a leppa berry, and an old rod. You have 752 hours to get to the next town over without ending up in Pacifilodg town. Good luck. Let the games begin

@@1012Digimon Its not really questionable, it straight up WOULDN'T. To your point, it would most certainly be faster. Keep in mind that your objective is to beat 5 level 10 goldeen within 16 hours. Once again, Pikasprey, I'm quite impressed with your knack for getting yourself into pointlessly sadistic situations. Good job. I guess the key details here, though, is that it takes 700 hours in real time. You don't need to be playing the whole time, just check in every 16 hours. You can do whatever in the meantime, which makes it a lot less painful. Needing to spend 700 hours in-game would be completely asinine.

The one step you need is to make sure the Jirachi from the Colosseum bonus disc has been received on the save file and released, otherwise you can transfer it into the party directly from the disc and avoid the soft lock.
The saddest thing about this scenario is that, despite all that time you and Larvitar spent together all alone in the woods, despite the countless days spent growing berries and catching fish in order to nurse your best pal back to health, poor Larvitar will never be able to become a Tyranitar and achieve it's full potential 😭
It will if you send it up to SwSh, at least. If you use a Rare Candy on something that would require leveling up to evolve but is level 100, it'll evolve.

then after going through multiple generations to swsh it can become a dragon thing
Casual reminder to never complain about how long a video takes when Aspery is out here spending almost 800 hours on a larvitar for our amusement
Nah
To be fair he doesnt necessarily HAVE to actually spend that much time. for instance, he could use an emulatoran turn off Frame-limiting while waiting. This would result in the game's clock moving forward much faster than IRL, so instead of 16 real life hours between each berry, it could be reduced to maybe like 15 minutes, or even less depending on how fast your PC can run the emulator.
It would still take a long-ass time to do everything he needs to do, but it wouldnt take 800 IRL hours.
