- Makita Mitre Saw Fence Adjustment
A brief demo of how to adjust the saw bed on the Makita sliding mitre saw.
In brief, adjust the bed to the fence, not the saw blade.

Aha! Removing the guide rails was the missing key, cheers :). Great vid, straight to the point without all the waffle. Also, love the accent :P.
Glad you found the video helpful.
It took me a while to figure out this method.
Thanks for your support.
Matt.
Nicely described, many thanks 👍
Glad you like the content Jamie
great job,congratulations
Cheers buddy, glad you like it.
Hi I recently brought this model and want to disassemble and check parts replace any and assemble. Your knowledge is useful of course.
These are great saws, pretty much nothing can go wrong with them.
Just check the fence once in a while.
Glad you like the video.

Well done, I will get a few more videos out soon. Thanks for watching.
Thanks, man. I've used a miter box numerous times because my Makita isn't squared right now
The most recent time I adjusted my Makita, I spent less than 5 minutes to get the fence spot on. Glad you found the video helpful. Matt
Hi, have you ever had to calibrate the bevel adjustment on the back? Or more specifically the two hex socket grub screws which tune the spring/ball detent that makes it click at the zero position? Mine has a bit of wobble at the zero position before I tighten the handle on the back, so tends to cut on a bevel angle by a fraction of a degree. Any advice much appreciated.

Great job...I’ve just spent about 3 hours doing mine off the blade and using calipers to measure the off cuts.
Any tips on calibrating the bevel too please?
Great to hear, glad this was helpful for you. I have never had any issue with the bevel, I will think about the best way to check later today.
Ill look forward to that answer myself as my saw needs the same tlc at the minute lol great video too
P.S.
Even my (exaggerated) 3 hours setting up didn't get me a straight cut. I re-calibrated again on Sunday using your method. 5 minutes (if that) and a perfect cut.
Could my fence not being square, equal problems when cutting 45 mitres? 90 degrees seems dead square but my 45 mitres are off. Any tips/fix its? I even tried clamping my timber to the bed to ensure it didnt shift.
Hi Danny.
45 degree cuts not cutting straight is mostly down to a dull edge on the blade. Some materials will dull the blade edge much quicker than others.
Change the blade for a sharpened one. If you don't have a sharp blade, get that sorted first.
Once you have changed the blade then double check the 90 degree angle (as shown) and test the 45 degree cuts.
Let me know how you get on

I’ve picked up one of these saws second hand and I think it has taken a knock in a van. Should the back fence be dead straight or are they slightly concave? Should the sub fences make up the difference?
The back fence should be straight. In the video, I run a straight piece of timber across both sides of the fence, this is the best way to measure the square cut. Check your fence with a straight piece of timber or a steel edge, determine whether your fence has been damaged. There are four bolts holding the fence at the back, Try to loosen those see if any damage was caused by poor adjustment. If your fence is bent, then use a sub-fence should be ok. Make you fence runs straight before you try to adjust the square angle.
I hope this is helpful. Matt
@@Crooks103 Thanks for the reply!
I cut a straight piece of timber in half, flip one over, and then see if there is any difference. Not sure how accurate this is :)
My video is describing the most effective method that I have found.
If you follow the steps, you will have an extremely accurate setting.
Best regards
Matt
Can't place your accent
I wonder why that is important. Interesting you haven't offered to tell me where you are from
@@Crooks103 No offence intended, just curious. I'm from the UK.
